If they have issues with PDP , then PPA, and APGA are more realistic alternatives. But PPA and APGA SHOULD PUT THEIR MONEY where there mouth is ? You don't win elections by having only one office in Akwa OR Owerri, you spread your tentacles. Are you now telling me the 60,000 votes Ngige polled beating Soludo of the PDP to the 3rd place were votes givien to Ngige by Yoruba brethrens in Anambra state and not Igbos like u, think b4 u write man ![]() |
And why ACN? This is definitely a big big lie.You have to ask yourself DOES APGA have offices in every LG in Ebonyin state, and while you are that ask yourself if they have an office even in the state capital, yet they want to be the alternative party without sowing. You only reap what you sow Mr. ![]() |
Democracy is about having an alternative party ready to take over the reins of Goverment, if that alternative is ACN then let it be. After all, if ACN wins in Ebonyin State, it is not Yorubas that would be elected to your councils, House of Assembly, Reps and Senate, it is Ebonyins. ![]() It is against the principle of Democracy for everyone to be in the same party suffering and smiling. APGA true is in Anambra State but can Obi spend the kind of money Tinubu is spending on spreading the gospel of ACN, has anyone noticed Fashola has not done anything new in Lagos in the last 18 months, all lagos revenue is going to political mobilisation, and rightly so, we are in the thick of politicking at this point in time. Already one can see ACN warming up and putting up resitance in far flung places like Rivers State, Delta State and even the President's State of Bayelsa State. The earlier the whole Southern Protectorate of Nigeria get the message that there is an alternative party waiting in the wings, if you don't like your Governor, Senator, Reps men the better for all asundry. ![]() Personally I think Ebonyin state is moving with time, the earlier Abia, Imo, and Enugu State get the message the better it would be for those states too. We must not forget that ACN gave OBI even with Ojukwu's support a run for his money in Anambra State. ![]() |
abagoroabagoro post: 33 u no be jjc anymore from 11 post to 33 u are getting there .? ![]() |
u started well but ended with pride, why naI am only helping the thread starter to answer a question that it is not ethnically motivated by reminding the poster of the emotional roller-coster igbo sons have made their tribesmen go through over the years perharps another tribesman might help heal their heart aches. ![]() |
It would appear all attempts by the Igbo's in looking for a legitimate hero seems to be hitting a brick-wall, first it was THE absconding commander-in-chief of Biafra, his hurried depature from Biafra during the heat of battle whilst at the same time emptying the Biafran treasury of any legal Nigerian Currency LEAVING behind his own Biafran currency for his co-conspirators convincing them that it is legal tender in France, was and has met with displeasure by many igbo intelligenstsia who saw Ojukwu as an opportunitist, and a cheap rogue at a time when many grown up men where in the dark ages. If it were today the likes of Ojukwu would not get a look-in. No sooner getting over the hang-over of the Ojukwu saga(although Ojukwu still have remenants of supporters but they are not only powerless but they are also voiceless in Igboland of today they are the butts of jokes which is understandable) than the Emeagwali supposedly heroic exploit in America hit the air waves, the story made many Igbo sons and daughters dance to the relisation that they have found a true hero and a geniue antecedant to be proud of, but members of this fraudster's family in no other person than his blood sister initiated to the world that the man has been a liar from the womb. Another burst to the higly inflated ego of the igbos. ![]() I think it is high time we borrow these hero starve tribe one of our many glorius sons in Yorubaland, they can have their pick in any of the above, is it the ingenious Fela they would like or, the Nobel Winning Soyinka, or better still ready to die with my boss Fajuyi, what of philantrophic Abiola, or good governance Fashola, or no-nosense BANJO who fought with igbo's and died with them or even Gani, at least he was a man of the people, and can pass for any down and trodden Nigeria, borrowing any of these guys out to our brothers in the east would be a welcome unity pact between the Yorubas and the Igbos. AWOLOWO IS A NO GO AREA THUS NOT TO BE BORROWED. |
@Becomerich How much is Mr Boni Yayi paying u for all this campaign about the SW, Edo, and Bayelsa to join the Republic of Benin. No wonder d man was in Abuja this past week, I wonder what he discussed with Jonathan, ![]() |
you are almost certainly related in some way to our men in black, which is the only reason i can surmise for your eager support of 'accidental discharge' as a means of conflict resolution. i am sure you also have no issues with arrest for wandering and despoil of love-peddlers / arrested females as 'fringe benefits'"Accidental discharged" as the name depicts is what it is, you cannot be economical with the truth or change the connotations of the deed to suit your argument hence the reason why there is a word like that in the English language(moreover that is not the charge at hand, I am only emphasing the boy's luck at not being at the recieving end of AD) , as per police officer's despoiling arrested love-peddlers that is off topic and bears no correlation to what this spoilt brat did, snapping anything and everything that comes to his focus. ![]() |
but when your fellow Nigerians risk their lives to expose the rot in the system, you condemn them. You should be ashamed of your line of argument, A man blatantly walks to an officer of the law and takes his photo-graph to you " he is exposing the rot in the system in your wack mind" . I think that boy should thank his lucky stars that" accidental discharged" did not happen to him. He would have met himself in a morgue and not a court. ![]() |
abagoro post: 11 jjc welcome to Nairaland. ![]() |
Ooni is undoubtly the spritual head, and I belief Oduduwa State is over due with Captal at Ile-Ife. So is the new Oyo State with Capital in Oyo. These 2 cities should be cultural capitals in Yoruba land. We need 4 more new states in Yorubaland and we would call it a day, no more agaitation of states for ever. 1. New Oyo State - Capital Oyo 2. Ijebu State - Capital Ijebu-ode 3. Oduduwas State -Capital - Ife 4. Oluwa State - Capital - Okitipupa - Our eldorado A potential very rich State indeed. |
Remember Ohaneze endorsed Falae in 1999 but the SE masses voted overwhelmingly for OBJ, coupled with the 3rd term saga you have to question how in tune they are with the wishes of the people they claim to represent. The Governors are what matters in elections in Nigeria. That said, with Ohaneze being a pressure group and singing in unison from the same scripts with Governors that is double whopper for Jonathan. it is safe to say it is in the bag except of course Anambra state and the Ojukwu factor. But then Anambra would accede to the highest bidder when comes to the Presidential election unfortunately. ![]() |
Former Nigerian military tyrant Ayatollah Buhari will FAIL in ALL endeavors on which he squanders his looted government cash.I know Jakumo you would come out with something against Buhari, I use to be a Buhari basher b4, but on the balanced of it and taking a fair holistic non-judgmental view, I think he is one of the better of the lesser evils in that cacophony of vile, unpretentious brigands that have ruled Nigeria. Having said that he is a serial failure and I don't think 2011 would be any diffrent. However we still expect him to rear his ugly and gaunt face in 2015 obvioulsy with his 100th Political Party. What he would call the party can be anyone's guess. ![]() |
perhaps what orinkila said is true, many posters of nl are children of the ruling class, to whom police are nothing more than drivers and orderlies and who are in no danger whatsoever from police brutality, etcYou are just double speaking here man, if police are just orderlies or drivers to the children of the ruling class don't u think that explains for the shoddy behaviour of this chap, if we dig deep, this poor lad might have an orderlie at home who shines his shoe, why should he respect a Police Man on the road. It is a well known fact Police Officer's would rather they work as an Orderly and driver to some big shot than being on the road doing some "fine barra" a begger those on the streets are the lowest of the low. ![]() |
Ok, I get your point now but that only underscores the point I made earlier about Nigeria not having the comptence to strike a balance between fiscal and monetary policies. Does Sanusi know what he is doing? So while the rest of the world was raising the capital for bailouts from the markets, Nigeria was printing money and increasing inflation without any policies to reign in inflation. But these new craze that oyinbo people are printing money like mad, Japan, USA, and the UK are litrally printing billions of dollars, yen and pounds, this akward policy should not enter Sanusi's DNA, he should thread carefully with such a policy, he can only continue doing this kind of thing with certain economic factors taking into the equation like you rightly said. Making it a norm and our bread and butter can easily suck the country into that uncontrollable spiral of hyper inflation just like in Uganda during Idi Amin's time and Mugabe's Zimbabwe. Although we have foreign exchange coming in from oil and the diasporas fund which is helping the country to hedge their bet on this policy for now. This policy should be a policy of last resort thus. ??? ![]() |
Taking people's picture willy-nilly is dumb, how much more taking a law enforcement officer. The boy should be flogged with koboko and let go, six strokes of koboko would be ideal. That would serve as a deterant to some other spoilt miscreants coming from abroad who think their being at home is doing Nigeria a favour. Just because of the prevailing abject poverty in the country which can be uneasy on the eye to the non -discerning person, and the mockery our Police Force has become, does not give any aje butter the right to make fun of the men in black, they are still the law wether they GET N15,000.00 a month or not. I think some kids do not know where to draw the line on how they treat their own domestic workers with how to treat officer's of the law. We all know our police force's reputation is less than those of a dog but what the fu*k. ![]() |
Nobody is God.What if JEGA loses? If he wins the primaries he wins. His biggest obstactle is the primaries not the general election, the opposition we grasp some states but the general election is his to lose. |
I think we can all go home NOW, the 2011 election is conclusive. The SE votes were the last bastion of resistance to JEGA's coronation but with that masterstroke letter puported written by JEGA three years ago, it is safe to say we should start looking beyond 2011, into the horizon of 2015. Not only has JEGA backed his script with actions on the ground alas Enugu International Airport, SE Federal roads ultimatum and the new Chief of Army Staff, it is safe to say JEGA would clear the fields in the SE. There would be one or two pockets of resitence in some places but its significance can be discounted with the added knowledge that democracy is not about getting 100% votes in a place, rather it is based on the general principle and perception that a simple majority would just be fine. |
People have realised the VP position, although a spare tyre, is a very strategic post if en-powered by your President. An enpowered VP is more likely to clinch the Presidency than an outsider. I see Sambo give all the good guys like Ribadu, Duke, even Fashola a run for their money come 2015 or is it 2019 because we are not sure when JEGA would step down. bear in mind the 2011 elections as far as I am concerned is conclusive. |
That is not quantitative easing; that is simply shoring up the capital bases of the banks, similar to the bailouts of the banks in the US. QE goes directly into the public in open market operations and it involves a process of buying government debt (bonds, gilts), corporate bonds, mortgage backed securities from investors. The aim is to increase the money supply in circulation. QE is not used to solve debt problems. We Printed More Money to Save Banks, Says CBN Wednesday, September 02, 2009 - The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) disclosed last weekend that it had printed more naira, in response to the nation's economic and financial crises and in line with last year's suggestion by economist and Group Managing Director of Global Fleet Group, Barrister Jimoh Ibrahim. Responding to a question at a Town Hall meeting with stakeholders in London on how the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) sourced the N420 Billion it recently injected into five banks in the country, CBN Governor Sanusi Lamido Sanusi said: "We printed money. We created an asset on the balance sheet basically to pump money into the system because money supply had been negative in the first half of the year. We did not borrow money." The Global Fleet chief had in July last year while reacting to the global economic meltdown suggested that the banking watchdog should print more naira. The suggestion was widely criticized and allegedly discarded by CBN under its immediate past governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo. But now, according to Ibrahim, the new CBN governor has "followed the advice and unknown to many, it has quietly gone underground to print more naira." Need I say more, give it whatever fancy name or conatation you like, the bottom line money was printed like toilet paper to safe our banks, I would not lose any sleep over our local debts, that can always be taken care off. At least we heard from the horse mouth. ![]() |
How can you suggest quantitative easing in a country like Nigeria that is still very incompetent with monetary and fiscal policies. What would be the objective of QE in Nigeria? It is only countries that have the right balance of fiscal and policies that can/should employ QE and QE is only used to battle deflation or to stimulate growth when you can not lower interest rates.I would like to burst your bubble quantitative easing have already happened twice in Nigeria, during Soludo's last throe, he put up a straight face by proclaiming publicly that the world wide slump would not affect Nigeria. He knew the state of Nigeria Banks at that point in time. Do you know why the Naira lost 25% of its value during the last 6 months of Souludo's stewardship that is bacause the CBN had already embarked on covert quantitative easing policies, qiuetly and discreetly bailing Akingbola, Ibru and others. ![]() During Sanusi reign it bacame an official policy unlike during Soludo'd regime. The $2 billion fund used to shore-up the capital base of those debt ridden banks where do you think it came from. And why did Sanusi declared that investors capital in those distress banks have gone down the pan? ![]() |
The Ilaje's are actually seeking for a state and I believe this Jonathan regime would probably heed to that clarion call even though it is a muted call without the fanfare of some of the other agitations. Coastal or Oluwa State would be just like Bayelsa state, one of the richest states in Nigeria. Because of the accelerated development plan identified, with failures by past regimes to develop the coastal areas of Nigeria, the endorsement and the actual creation of the Ministry of Niger Delta and the NDDC has made these regions the new frontier for development in Nigeria, this agitation might see the light of day, even though, on paper, the state might look small , undesirable and a whimscal spur of the moment agitation, but when one takes the resources available to it, if it becomes a reality, one would have to admit that on the balance of probabilty it is one demand that would scale through even though I as an Ondo man would not want to see us lose these part of our state. I see Jonathan giving a nod to this state creation to appease the ijos in Ilaje, I would be suprise if this dosen't come to past. ![]() I am not sure who would be the majority though wether Ijaws or Yorubas, but I suppose Yoruba's would be the majority because the propose capital would be Okitipupa which is the biggest town and a Yoruba town. The remenants of Ondo State would just be like Ekiti State, an hinterland state with a fairly bloated bureacrats with no oil, I suppose they would have to go back to their old age mainstay, if they want to survive in the future which was cocoa or they become one of those irrelevant states that can't wait but get their hands on the monthly hand-outs from the feds. |
You need to understand the structure of these debts. out of the $32.5b, only $4.5billion is foreign while over $25billion is local. It simply means our real debts is $4.5 billion, which is reasonable for a big nation like ours. The local content can be written off or better still by using the now infamous quantitative easing module OR in local parlance or street talk " printing more money" the debt can be absorbed. The Naira as per the latter would probably be devalued to absorb the upsurge of the new Naira created. |
Chibuike Amaechi will rule Rivers till 2015. After that power should shift from Ndigbo in Rivers to non Igbos either Kalabari, Ogoni etcWe are not Igbo's says Ikwerre's ? Are Ikwere's Igbo. ![]() |
It is common sense, can you imagine logging into an American forum and the top subject in the politcs section " is who is the most racist people in a conventional and mainstream forum" that topic is a disgrace to Nigerians and one should not really wash ones dirty linen in public. ![]() |
can some please post a picture of the, I am sure delapitated staduim, this is more or less a de-service to the Awolowo name than a homage. Moreover what is wrong with the name Liberty Stadium which depicts an edifice built b4 we gained our independence hence the name " Liberty" OR Freedom stadium. |
Togo is in the ECOWAS group of nations, they are legally allowed to bring in their wares to Nigeria under d free movement of goods & services charter enshrined in the constitution of ECOWAS nations. That said, I don't think Cameroon is entitled to bring theirs in thus. One of the reasons proponents of free trade amongst regional blocs give is d advantage it presents to d end users & consumers, they would invariably get cheap goods from intense competition amongst member nations, all Nigeria has to do is mass produce d same goods and flood d Market therby killing any competition from any neigbouring states. I am sure some smart arse would be thinking along dat line already, there is money to be made for those with d swagger to make a fast buck wen d opportunity presents herself. |
I think bk.babe97's case is not tribalism, it is actually bordering on hate-crime. ![]() |
The most tribalist person in NL is bk.babe97. I don't think this gentleman has ever posted a mainstream or conventional story. The following individuals are only advocate for their tribes and damn it why if not. 1. Becomerich 2. Dede 3. Dapobear 4. Ezeuche 5. Mai suya & al haram 6. Bluthooth I like many straddle between d betterment of Nigeria as a whole with sympathy to our ethnic group but d overal growth of Nigeria is more our thing. Some people are really narrow in there perpestivd baba pupa would lick fashola's bum onlytruth - the best thing dat happen to Nigeria Is anambra state Jarus - thinks he is conosuir in kwaran poltics and sanusi although he is more versertile than the others. ile ke idi - If u join NL today it would not take u 5 seconds to no she comes from ekiti. beaf- he is on the FG's payroll. Only my observation- apologies ![]() |
Those at home are running away and you want somebody who already succeeded in running away to return. Why not you return to naija or are you not intelligent enough to contribute? Why Are we talking of a man who cannot take d heat in his own nation, d man is an American, I don't know why any Igbo or Yoruba man are worrying themselves over this absconder, this is Nairaland & not Americaland if he truly have anything to contribute to d social, cultural & industry revolution of Nigeria he should be on d ground otherwise he is a persona non grata in these shores, we don't know him and don't want to know him. ![]() We all saw d good & enviable works of other ginuses, people like Soyinka , a 75 year old man pounding d streets of Lagos & Abuja protesting without fear or favour , wen d cabals held 150 million strong abled people to ransome , dat to me are worthy heroes we should all be proud off. |
