Oga, Tunisia is one of the most developed countries in Africa (much closer to Eauropean levels than Nigeria) and its been so for decades. They aren't a "little country" as you've put it.Don't you think we need another set of Nigerians to be ruling the roost, your Uncle cannot take us to the promiseland. If we have one qaulity motorway, check-out those Pakistani motorways, it is better than having 300 hundred motorways full of pot-holes and armed robbers running amock all over the place. See the Pakistani Highway Patrol men, in this day and age in Nigeria where everybody has mobile phone why armed response police men are not on the roads every 30 miles I don't understand. They also need brand new fast cars. |

At times I am lost for words when I see infrastructures in some supposedly poor and middle income countries. Yet in Nigeria, you hear and see people talk of billions everyday, billion this, billions that, yet noting to show for. let's not derail the topic please.. Audu's predecessor was an Igbo-man, noting gives a theif confidence than when he knows the one b4 him got away with cold blooded murder. If you want to read about the predecessor search for the thread, there is no need to creat another thread. It is necessary for one to examine where Audu's lunatic stealing streak came from, hence the reason why the story of his predecessor was brought up. |
Igbo man should not be president or Abubakar is a saint. whats your point?.Is the reason why an Igbo man should not be President is another thread. I am only saying Audu learnt from his predecessor who was an Igbo man, the reasons why their is no semblance of development across the board in Nigeria is the brazen theft perpetutated by those in power. You can see from Ribadu's book Ibori stole 75% of all revenue accrued to Delta State, but the Journeymen who have ruled Kogi State it is a case of 105% ![]() |
Kogi State don suffer, first the last Igbo Military Govenor stripped the state to its bear knuckles, and now this Igbira man only continued from where the Igbo Governor stopped, I hope Bayo Ojo would be the next Governor of the state, the rot going in Kogi State should stop, too many journey-men has ruled that state for too long, they need some progressives. ![]() IS THE REASON WHY Igbo's should not be President. Colonel (retired) Augustine Ifeanyi Aniebo was the Military Administrator of Borno State, Nigeria during the military regime of General Sani Abacha. He then became Administrator of Kogi State, Nigeria from August 1998 to 29 May 1999 during the transitional regime of General Abdulsalami Abubakar, handing over to the elected civilian governor Abubakar Audu on 29 May 1999 at the start of the Nigerian Fourth Republic.[1] Aniebo was born on 23 March 1950 in Anambra State.[2] In the Nigerian Civil War he commanded the Biafran 58 Brigade at Uyo.[3] He was captured in the fall of Uyo in 1968, and detained until the end of the war.[citation needed] In May 1997 Nigerian security agents, working with Islamic leaders, stormed a Christian Church in Maiduguri, Borno State and ejected the pastor and church members. The church leaders appealed to Aniebo to act quickly to avoid a religious crisis.[4] In 1998 he said that the Borno State task force against smuggling had been strengthened to reduce cross-border smuggling of petroleum products to neighboring countries.[5] Appointed administrator of Kogi State in August 1998, he left office without swearing in his successor, having drained the state's treasury dry and racked up massive debts.[6][7] His successor, Abubakar Audu, personally went to President Olusegun Obasanjo to complain that it was impossible to administer the state given the size of the debts.[8] Later he became Chairman and CEO of Hotel Millennium Abuja.[2] Is this a classical atitude of an Igbo hench man OR just a one off |
That her " Naija" howler nailed her!!! not good enough for Information. Even President Johnnyboy would embrace Naija youths supporting him come 2011, I am not too sure the President would care wether they are " Naija" youths or " Nigerian" youths so long they can cast their vote for him. |
OBJ has not got class sef, what d he'll is a two time President doing amongst thugs like fayose & olagunsoye. I bet Olagunsoye would have been corporal wen OBJ was head of State in 1976 & Fayose would still be roaming d streets of Ibadan in his underpants playing with those tyres Poor Nigerian kids love playing with. |
Face what "music" ? The kind of music he faced that saw him cleared of over a 100 charges of corruption by a Nigerian Court of Law? The kind of music Nigerian Halliburton suspects (OBJ et al) are currently facing? Ibori commited a crime against the UK when his laundered funds passed through the financial institution of that nation. International money Laundering is a serious offence and if it involves ten nations then indicted citizens of all the nations involved can be extradited anywhere to stand trial. In any case , Ibori has co-conspirators who are British and the former Governor cannot be extricated from their crime especially as he is the brains behind the operation and , by far, the biggest beneficiary of the money laundering scheme. This is real colonial mentality, just becos Jonathan / Sambo cannot try Ibori successfully in Nigeria, it is down to the Brits to do their dirty job 4 them, Ibori, his wife or is it his girl-friend has no business been in an English Jail. True they have flouted the UK's anti launder laws at best what a non- citizen gets for this kind of crime is seizure & forfeiture of assets and the proceeds of crime with a summarily deportation order not a jail term at English expenses. Ibori has a lot of questions to answer in Nigeria & should be here answering those questions. |
But why is ibori sent to d UK, he has not stolen a penny from British Tax payers, why bring him here to some senseless trial, the offence was committed in Nigeria, surely he should be tried in Naija. What d British Govt should do is liquidate his assets in d UK & send the proceeds to Nigeria not trying him, or are they charging and trying him 4 some spurious credit card fraud he allegedly committed some 19 years ago. ![]() I beg make dem send Ibori back to naija to face d music, he has no case to answer in d UK. |
Fayose is politically dead with fayemi at the helms of affair in Ekiti State. Fayemi would probably get a second term, where does that leave fayose, I would not be suprised that by 2019, Fayose would be as penniless as a church rat and a raving lunatic as any mad man one has seen on the streets of Lagos. The fact is, OBJ has finished the guy completely, the guy has no relevance in this world anymore probably if comes back again he would learn how to respect elders. In a way I pity the poor soul, but I no send am, na im cause for himself. One of his numerous excessive was been rude to the ewi of Ado-Ekiti amongst other things, the boy does not know what humility is, I think he has a cause on his head. ![]() |

IT IS SIMPLE, JUST RE-CALL ALL 469 MEMBERS OF THE NASS, TO EXERCISE THE POWERS OF A RECALL YOU NEED SIGNATORY AMOUNTING TO 100,000 SIGNATORIES OR MORE THAN 50% OF THE ELECTORATES IN THE AREA CONCERNED. ALTHOUGH I don't know how the Nigerian Constitution of 1999 treats or spells out the procedure, the clause might not exist in our constituion for all we care. But that would be a shame my assumption is such a powerful democratic tool should not be amiss in a robust and solid constitution, in the West the power to re-call is addressed along if not similar lines as described above. |
Omisore might not be back as a senator, this is the last chance to grab any largesse available and bequeated to him by our ever generous FG, b4 his likes get booted out by the ACN War machine that would roll into Oyo State next year. |
The Peoples Democratic Party’s political territory in the South West has shrunken to two states, Oyo and Ogun. Senator Bola Tinubu says these too will go to the Action Congress of Nigeria in 2011. What have you to say to this? Tinubu is not a citizen of Oyo State. If you don’t know, Hameed Sangodele, also known as Bola Tinubu, is not a native of Oyo State and as such cannot direct the political affairs of Oyo. I think he has the right to do whatever he likes in Osun because I believe he is from Osun. He can also do that in Ekiti because I learnt he has some relatives too in Ekiti. But, here in Oyo, we don’t know him and he has no political structure here. Don’t you think that has been the attitude of the other two state governors who have lost their seats, that is, underrating Tinubu? It seems he knows what he is doing and how to get his way. (Cuts in): And I also know what I’m doing. If he knows what he is doing, I know what I am doing and I know what I’m saying. Oyo is a no-go area for him. Please, when you want to talk about Tinubu, in relation to ACN, let us talk about ACN and not about Tinubu because (he) has nobody here in Oyo. What gives you that optimism? That what? That PDP cannot lose Oyo To who? To ACNBecause I know the mentality of the electorate in Oyo. They want PDP and they will stick to PDP. A devil known is better than an angel they don’t know. They know me and they have tested me. They know what I can do and they are the ones clamouring for a second term for me. I know PDP is here in Oyo to stay. They (ACN) have been given opportunity to rule before but they failed woefully. We have all been tested and the electorate know what they want. But the PDP in Oyo is divided (Cuts in) I don’t know what you mean. PDP in Oyo is not divided. ACN might not be strong in Oyo but the opposition within the PDP… (Cuts in) I don’t have any opposition…Let me correct that impression. There is no way I will agree there is any division in PDP in Oyo. We are very intact, and that is the truth. Those people that are talking just want to distract us. We are much focused; don’t mind what they are saying. I have said it before; I don’t need them. If I need them, I will go for them. They are spoilers and I cannot allow them to spoil things for me. I am not trying to be over-confident, but if they want to be spoilers, you have to avoid them, prevent them from coming to you, because whatever things you have arranged perfectly they would just come to disorganise. As far as I’m concerned, PDP is one in Oyo and we are ready to welcome anybody. But not those that will distract us from what we are doing. They all insist that they belong to PDP - Ladoja, Balogun, Teslim Folarin (Cuts in) Teslim is in PDP, Senator Balogun is in PDP, but Ladoja is not in PDP. Where does he belong? I don’t know where he is |
PRESIDENT Goodluck Jonathan and Vice President Namadi Sambo have publicly endorsed the intention of Governor Rotimi Amaechi of Rivers State to run for office a second time. The president was in Rivers State on Saturday to inspect the ongoing execution of the second phase of Afam Power Station as well as attend a grand reception organised by the Ogbakor Ikwerre Cultural Organisation in honour of Amaechi for his achievements in office in the last three years. Speaking at the venue of the reception, Jonathan who was represented by Sambo announced the decision of the two leaders to support Amaechi’s quest for a second tenure. According to Jonathan, the decision to support the Rivers governor was based on his outstanding performance in office which he observed had made Ikwerre, his ethnic group and the entire people of the state proud. Sambo said: “On behalf of President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, I congratulate the people of Ikwere for bearing a son whom everybody is proud of. I thank Ikwerre for their endorsement for him to run. “Run and run. As far as we are concerned, we have endorsed you,” the Vice President declared. Sambo noted the numerous projects the Amaechi administration had implemented in the state and pledged additional federal government’s support for his government. He pointed out that the federal government was determined to ameliorate the hardship of the people in the SouthSouth and Nigeria in general, saying that work was progressing on the East-West highway while contract for the N1.5billion Coastal Road would soon be awarded. Similarly, he said consultants were working on a new rail line to link Lagos and Calabar just as a new gas pipeline would be built across Rivers State to Lagos and another one to the north.Sambo observed that the present federal administration was led by people within the age bracket of 50, noting in particular that Jonathan and himself were well educated as a scientist and an architect who would continue to redesign the country. He urged the people of the state to continue to support the administration. In his remarks at the occasion, Amaechi challenged his political opponents to a popularity contest with him over the coming gubernatorial election in the state. “Let them use this opportunity to test their popularity. Those who said my name was not on the ballot can now come and let’s see who wins the next election,” he boasted even as he conceded that it was only God who would determine the winner of the 2011 governorship in the state. |
If i owned Tinapa, i wouldn't give it out free of rent for 2 years, why should i? Your assumption here is that people aren't occupying those shops because they are expensive, however, this might just be far from the truth.Human beings love a bargain they would climb mountains and cross rives to get their hands on a bargain, but from feelers that I am getting from some people who enquired about opening a shop in Tinapa, the rent is not only extorsionist in nature it is a hindrance and a very un-welcome hindrance especially when u are pushing for growth in a depressed and a difficult terraine like CRS. The road network in Nigeria does not do any favours to the place, hence other sweetners to attract speculators and investors. If it gets going the sweetners would be withdrawn, the incentives of suspending import duties is similar to the Western Sweetner of tax allowances for 2 years to new busineses. The East-West road is also on the cards so is the costal road, the minister for transport only retirated this point a few days ago, VP Namadi Sambo whilst endoesing Amechi repeated the same thing over this weekend. So the future looks good for Tinapa with the right policies put in place. |
The latter two items seem to be heavily dependent on the federal government. I don't think it makes sense to commission huge state projects that require things beyond your control to work out well.Rent Free - because ask yourself what rent are they getting from that ghost shopping mall at the moment. ![]() State Goverments should learn fron the Duke's experience they should not support the centre govetment for getting back NOTING in return, since we have the benefit of hindsight now, one does not have to dig deep to know Duke did not carry the FG along when he unilaterally embark on such a gigantic project. Now we are stuck with an almost white-elephant project in our hands, it is up to the stake-holders to safe it from extinction, otherwise come 2011 CRS goes ACN or any other party what is the point voting for the centre party who are against your progress. ![]() |
At least with the now established knowledge that our lawmakers take home in excess of $1.7 million dollars a year, it suffices to say the first 600 individuals worth over $1 million dollars are our honourable honourables. I hope with the passage of time many other high net individuals on the pay-roll of our ever generous FG would come out share their experience of what it is to be a millionaire in dollars, until such a time we can safely add this 500+ individuals into that exclusive club of Millionaires. |
STHow is the project being held back by the federal gov't, specifically? Like, name X Y and Z that the fed gov't should do to make the project flourish (that doesn't cost money out of the federal gov'ts pocket.)Tinapa is held back by the stake holders who should be pulling in the same direction, instead they are pulling away from each other. The stake-holders are the FG, the State Goverment, and the private sector investors. I see no significant benefit why Cross River State is voting PDP or the Goverment at the centre. What has that loyalty given CRS, CRS should re-negotiate their future with their votes, just like how the SE did recently with Jonathan.(althogh the jury is still out on that) The SE seems to have gotten some sweetners from the FG. ( alas the recent un-banning of some items that were banned and the Enugu International Airport) The place is not making money now because it has been left to rot, they need to boost the place up, how do u boost it up, Rent - Free for 2 years , all import duties shold be suspended on certain items for 2 years, the Coastal Road and the East - West road projects should be priority projects that should be completed and the port in Calabar would be the prime port for all transactinal dealings with regards to Tinanpa. If these policies can be put in place, the place would be a bee-hive of activities within 6 months. The place needs some adranelin jabs to get going. If I can buy a designer wear cheaper in Calabar than in the USA, Dubai, and Europe or SA why go to those places. In fact diasporas would be coming on a shopping trip to Nigeria instead of vice-versa. If the FG deem it fit and right to spend 25% of our common-wealth on some beer guzzling lawmakers in Abuja who are contributing zilch to the economy why not spend in an enterprise that would grow and mushroom into an industry which would employ millions of Nigerians, it is high time the FG gets its acts together and play their part in these worthy cause. Donald Duke has done well by putting the infrastrutures in place. The buck is on Jonathan's lap. |
Printing money without d resultant increase in peoples wage would work. That is if 20 billion naira is printed by d Cbn, and this money is credited to commercial Banks as a cash injection so dat d Commercial Banks can borrow industrialist d amount they need to expand their businesses would work. That is what is done in d West, they print and inject into Commercial Banks who in turn lend to new busineses in other to boost economic activities. But print and start increasing everyones' salary would lead to inflation becos too much money would be chasing too few goods. |
I thought IBB is d chief loser and has d choice of choosing d VP for Atiku, I don't see a master puppetist like IBB choosing a loose & uncontrollable canon like Iweala. How would d woman respond to a request from d Presidency to grease their God father & mentorer's palm to d tune of $1 billion dollars as a show and a token of their loyalty to some un-written but honourable gentleman's agreement. Knowing Ngozi Iweala she would broke into a cold sweat at such proposition. This endorsement for obvious reason would not get d blessings of IBB let us not argue over an obsene proposition after all birds of d same feather are meant to flock together. |
God help us, there would be more bangers in Nigeria than human beings very soon. Every tom, dick & harry would now believe it is their God forsaken right to be a car dealer. Our road networks has remained d same as it was since 1982 except for some few additions. Did I hear someone say Lagos is congested, we never see anything Nigeria would soon become one huge gridlock of bangers, but this policy by Jonathan does it really make sense, on the one hand there is a communique dat all goverment agencies should be patronising Innoson motors yet the same goverment is lifting d veil of Bangers to flood d Market. I hope Lagos port would not face d repeat of the Cement Armada of 1975 wen cement that could re-build d whole of Lagos 3 X was imported into d country. There was said to be over 200 hundred ships ready to bearth at d Lagos port, such an avanlanche of imported automobile could put d security of d country at risk, as some evil minded people bent at causing mayhem in d polity might hide fire-arms and other assult weapons in d bowels of these Bangers. |
Onlytruth has spoken, The SW is quitely re-drawing the pre- 1963 map of d SW region. Delta is d last bastion of opposition with also some pockets of resistance in Ogun & Oyo State which would be overwhealmed in the next dispensation. Jonathan is talking d talk of pre- Biafra East, this is d time to grab Jonathan in d jugular for some geniue certainity, a promise dat would be witness by all d high & mighty of the old Eastern region. Why some Igbos are ready to accept a maginalised & maligned entity called SE I do not understand, when d North are still using pre- 1967 Northern region in everyday speak, Just a few days ago d North and not the NE, NW, or NC chose a flag bearer for d North but when it comes to issues regarding d East, d same North are quick to identify d dicothomy bw d SE & SS wen in fact d difference between d cultures is at best blurr with a lot similarities. King Jaja of Opobo is an Igbo man in d riverine are has d mordern Igbo man relinquished their Coastal domains without a fight. I am sure some cleaver ones amongst u know it is a divide & rule tatics dat has been used a countless time with renegade & deceit been d end result. |
Jonathan can remove the CAS tomorrow. He cannot remove a VP from office. Ask Obj how he tried with Atiku.A President can make a VP little better than d office table he sits on by stripping all pernaniphelia of officialdom from such a person reducing d percieved exulted post of a VP to dat little better than an office chair. Even in America they don't know what to make of d position of the VP which in a lay man's term is a spare hand. I have bought enough used cars in my time and many of these old bangers dat I bought, I was amazed how some had there spare tyres intact never used B4, this is d position of a VP. In d Nigeria context where d President is feted like a God the VP is as good as a "persona non grata" to lose sleep and be excited at being conferred with this ignominy which can be likened to a houseboyish role is not only a slap on Igbo intelligentsia but a sacriledge and mockery by d mallams playing d only aces they know " the Igbo's would take this role becos of their love of money". Rather d Igbos are better of engaging Jonathan in a dialogue about what they want to happen in d SE. After all a bird in hand is worth 2 in d bush. SE & SS used to be one & the President's middle name came from d high esteem d President's parent held for the indomitable Zik of Africa. |
I am not sure any of d quartet of Atiku, Saraki,IBB & Guseau would put their lives in d hands of an an Igbo Chief of Army Staff. Jonathan by dat singular act broke a taboo & anounced to d whole world dat an Igbo man can be trusted with the barrel of a gun. The aformentoined quartet would broke into cold sweat if you were to suggest such an obsene proposition prior to Jonathan's sound declaration. By dangling the carcature position of a VP at eminient Igbos is one bait any wise & smart Igbo should ignore, they must realise this is one chalice d poison they can do without. ![]() |
“You can't defeat an incumbent,” he said, to the shock of his guests. If u cannot defeat an incumbent what is the point spending $500 million dollars in conducting an election. Jonathan might as well tell JEGA to fold up INEC operations and close shop. ![]() |
Dora has made d word more popular than b4, b4 now d word was used loosley without any inherent conotation to it. But today it has more than enough defination, one has to go through this thread to feel d vibes. Next time Madame Dora should let sleeping dogs lie. |
Rable rousers, with a 1 trillion well orchestrated development fund, and the first thing the man open is bloody poultry. I can acheive that with N200,000.00. This is classical 4.1.9. ![]() |
Why can't these two countries sandwiched between Nigeria & Ghana do the Rwanda thing- ditch d french Language & embrace d English language making integration with their bigger neigbours easy. I am not talking political integration at d moment after all Naija(exuse me madame Dora) is not integrated with Ghana Politically but economically, socially, culturally, there has been a lot of fusion on almost all fronts. I sometimes become alarmed by these infusion to d detriment of some salaint States who only exist on maps. Today Nigerian & Ghanian actors act together in Nollywood. In fact Ghollywood & Nollywood has without mincing words or anouncing to d whole world being bethrotted in a holy matrimony. It is not unsual to see Ghanian actors acting d role of red cap Igbo chief, I was amazed watching a Nollywood movie recently wen I saw this Ghanian actor acting and even uttering a few words in Igbo, he could easily have pass as a Nigerian. Our Polticians now hide their stolen wealth in Ghana, Ghana has become d second home of many Nigerians, the other I was shock in London wen a friend of mine in London told me his house in Ghana would soon be complted. I enquirer from him if he had a house in Naija, he said he has land in Abuja, that after he completes his house in Ghana, he would build d one in Naija. Recently too I notice d Ghanian hip hop stars are now rapping in their local lingo mixed with pidgin another stolen trend or is it fad from big brother Nigeria. But to my utmost suprise Togo & Republic of Benin seems to be missing out in all these titanic changes in popular culture, they still hold on to dat dieing language d French in Paris hardly speak without some sprinkle of a lot of recently borrowed English words, it is not un-common in today's France to hear expression such Le Holiday, La Honeymoon. I think it is high time these countries embrace d English language & integrate with their bigger neigbours as part of a new awareness, awakeness, and that much alluded growth after all Republic of Benin rely solely on revenue it gets from allowing cars of any age into it's shores. 3/4 of the cars brought-in this way ends up in Nigeria & the ones brought in through Togo ends up in Ghana. Both Nigeria & Ghana has d 10 year rule placed on all private vechiles. Togo & Benin need more than d pittance they are getting from import duties, they need more than anything to integrate with their larger neigbours socially, culturally, economically give them dat explosion which has been non existent up to now. They should discard dat colonial relic called French and join d real community of nations, English is d language of d internet, it is d international langugae of Big Business or do these people want me to Le- download (facts & figures) for them, for them to know dat just mere changinging course from French to English opens windows of opportunties. Or how else can one explain d astronomical income earned by small Gambia from tourism, d income from dat little enclave surrounded by Senegal is 3 times what her big brother earns, did I hear some say it is Le- luck. ![]() |
The economy of Lagos is larger than ¾ of the West African region, if not all, A good Governor in Ogun State would tap and harnessed the vast potentials inherent in Lagos into something positive and advantageous to Ogun State. There is no reasons why someone working in Lagos cannot be residing in Sagamu, Ottah, Ifo, and Ijebu if there are good roads connecting these Towns and Lagos, Building New Towns in the outskirts of Lagos Metropolitan area and providing services that Lagosians can only marvel over at to those Towns, such as security, refuse collection, and road, environmental maintenance, Schools, Super markets and charging a fee for these services would push Ogun State’s income up astronomically. In London many people live 50 -60 miles out of town, and what I notice is those places out of town seem to be more affluent than within the town itself. |
