I think Fashola and Akpabio are birds of the same feather operating in different terraine. Whilst Fashola is wise enough to heed to his master's advise, obviously he has been well tutored by 'Mafiosio boss Tinunbu' on the virtues of society paying back for every little help and improvement, Akpabio whose constituent are dirt poor, cannot dear charge his 'Keke Nepap people' otherwise he would be castigated and villified.

If as mentioned in the other thread about the "wonders going on in Akwa Ibom State", it was hinted by one of the contributors that AK State gets N11.6 billion Naira every month as 13% derivatives, plus another N2.6 Billion as statutory fund, not talking of how much the state generates internally, and also not mentioning the LG funds which the Governor's also have access to.

It would not be inconceivable to think a greedy Governor who wants to be d richest man pocketing the whole 11.6 billion. If we do the maths 11.6 x 12 = will just be short of N144 billion a year, and they have 8 years to go. Just in one year, a greedy South-South Governor would have almost dusted Dangote's wealth of (160 billion). So it means if they steal just halff of the Derivatives over a 8 year period they would still dust Dangote's wealth. At the end of their tenure just stealing half of the fund would be N5 Billion X 12 = N60 Billion a year X 8 = N240 Billion!!

This analysis is scary, I hope those South-South Governor's are not as greedy as mentioned above
Wrong Analysis I thought Dangote's wealth is 160 Billion Naira. Dangote's wealth is actually 160 Billion x 13 = $13 Billion dollars. No Governor can be rich as Dangote, they would have to steal $1.5 BILLION Annually and that is not possible. But a motley crew like Tinunbu and his cohorts can supercede that becos they operate like a Mafia unlike the South-South Governors who are soloist.

KnowAll: But at times we might be over exergerating IBB's, Abacha's and any other head of state's wealth. If Nigeria as a country only makes $30 billion dollars a year, how could it be possible for someone like Abacha to be Richer than Dangote. Abacha would have to steal the whole $30 billion year in year out which is not possible?
this is very interesting. can we make it a thread of its own. cos it is at variance with the current topic.

It is not at Variance, the responsibility of the Governors of some of those South-South States pales into insignificance compared to the money they get.
Politics › Re: Is Dangote Really The Richest Nigerian??? by KnowAll(op): 7:13pm On Jan 06, 2013
we all keep on saying theives are the richest Nigeria, how much does Nigeria as a country make a year. And remember the FG has reponsible for all these below and more that I cannot even mention : -

Payments of all Fed Civil Servants including the Army, Airforce, Navy.
Payments for the salary of Customs, Prisons and Immigration.
Paymets of Teachers, Lecturer's and VC's Salary in Federal Schools, Federal Poly's and Fed Universities.
Paymets of Salaries of Federal Parastatal like Nigerian Ports Authority, Nigerian Airports Authority, Nigerian Television Authority e.t.c
Disbursement to States, which will in turn make payments to their civil servants and their parastatals,
Disbursement to Local Goverments,
Maintain Foreign Embassies Abroad.

So "How Much come remain for Head of State to steal now" huh

2 mil+ barrels of oil per day
don't forget that during IBB's time it was $10.00 dollars per barrel. He cannot steal the whole money, at least all the civil servants, soldiers and states all got some of the money. huh

Dangote is officially the richest since he can defend the source of his wealth.

Are there other Nigerians out there richer than Dangote?? Hell Yeah!.. and they are too numerous to mention.

I remember a statement credited to Mariam Abacha that "No matter the amount of money the Govt seizes from their family, the Abachas will never be as wretched as Dangote" That was not an empty boast.
men that na word oh shocked can someone remind me how long Aabacha was there for?

Politics › Re: Is Dangote Really The Richest Nigerian??? by KnowAll(op): 6:24pm On Jan 06, 2013
We have no way of determining otherwise, for now he is the legally recognized richest mogul in Nigeria. The IBBs, Adenugas etc should formally, officially and legitimately contest the the prime position and let's see who gets unites from EFCC and ICPC
But Forbes recognises Adenuga as a billionaire in his own right. Although not as rich as Dangote becos he has not got many stock exchange quoted companies unlike Dangote. Dangote has a transparent wealth that can easily be determined.
Politics › Re: Is Dangote Really The Richest Nigerian??? by KnowAll(op): 6:00pm On Jan 06, 2013
IBB is the richest Nigerian. Folorunsho and Adenuga are running IBB's businesses while Julius Berger also owned by IBB is constructing the most inflated road contracts in the world.
Are therefore saying Adenuga is not a billionaire in his own right? and who is Folorunsho? undecided

What's your obsession with Dangote anyway? Were you not the one that said that Dangote should be governor of Lagos? Correct me if i'm wrong.
Dangote is an examplary Nigerian, so any Nigerian that believe in hard-work, persevaranve, fairness, and have a competitive spirit would have a soft-spot for a success story whih Dangote represents.
Politics › Re: Is Dangote Really The Richest Nigerian??? by KnowAll(op): 5:42pm On Jan 06, 2013
^^ Dangote is not the richest in Nigeria
We know the ex presidents IBB and Abdulsalam may have more than Dangote but these guys are discounted. They were Military Head of State who ruled by the barrel of the Gun. However, I don't think OBJ is a billionaire thus!
Politics › Is Dangote Really The Richest Nigerian??? by KnowAll(op):
With the kind of money some of those South-South Governors get on a monthly basis and spend willy-nilly without any checks, restrictions, or restrain, is it not a fallacy to think Dangote is the richest Nigerian? In Lagos, Tinunbu/Fashola and his cronies who have held the commercial heart of Nigeria for 13 years are the God-Fathers of this city that has the reputation of being the 5th largest economy in Africa if it were a country shocked, Do we know what that interprets into in Pence, Cents, Pounds £££, and Dollars$$$$. shocked

Are these gentlemen who keep on promising us the 4th mainland bridge not richer than Dangote? They and their cronies have bought all the prime lands in Lagos, any infrastructural built by these quite and easy going 'Capone' they make sure they take a token in form of levying the so called 20 million "mugus" in Lagos, the Lekki Toll comes to mind, same thing would be applicable to the Ikoyi-Lekki link Bridge, A token in form of a levy would be paid by anyone who wants to take this short route to Lekki Peninsula, these gentlemen without underestimating their might, would probably build Eko Atlantic City single handedly without any in-put from banks or any financial institutions, are these people not richer than Dangote? huh lipsrsealed undecided

They Fashola/Tinubu gave Akeredolu a blank cheque to fight the election in Ondo State knowing fully well their man has no chance in hell against a formidable opponent like Mimiko, yet they went ahead and bank-rolled the expedition. All the funds expended on that debacle of an election has now been summarily written off by the duo Tinunbu/Fashola, while Akeredolu is not a penny short despite going through such a titanic battle. If it were to happen to mere mortals like me and you, we would be dead broke. No doubt these two gentlemen, do really have deep pockets. huh

What of Akpabio, Odili, Udughan, Amechi and Silvia. Nothing on the ground to show they have spent their monthly allocations wisely and judiciously. In Port Harcourt a fly-over that was undergoing construction suddenly crashed, are the good people of Rivers State not short-changed by these cutting-corner roughish tactics of Mr Governor? all we see in Asaba, Uyo and Yenogoa are Keke Nepap, an eye-sore looking vehicle that was never part of the Nigerian terriaine. What has happened to those mouth-watering allocation? shocked Rumours have it Odili owns Arik, Amechi has 2 refineries in Ghana, and Silvia's own houses all over the place which are currently under-going lock-down by EFCC.

Asaba still looks like a village despite the huge allocation from the FG, the only major project done so far in this dispensation is that over-inflated, over-rated and under-use Airport. Silvia built a fantastic Governor's lodge for himself and nothing else, yet for the time he was Governor he got close to a N1 Trillion Naira, what d fuccckk has he done with all those fund? huh

Akapbio seems to be the knight in shining Armour, at least he built a few over inflated fly-over’s in Uyo Township going to no where huh. Uyo a city of modest traffic does not need such frivolities at this time of her development, when one looks at a clip of those fly-overs, one cannot but notice those un-ubiquitous keke-nepap gliding over d fly-over’s like kids sliding down a bouncing castle, even at that, one would expect 100's of keke-nepap moving up and down the road but to one's astonishment there appears to be just a few of them on these grandiose, over-inflated road made from gold dust, it would seem. lipsrsealed Rumours have it he is the richest Nigerian(do not quote me) lipsrsealed

So back to my initial Question, Is Dangote still the richest Nigeria?, well maybe, Dangote might edge it by a lttle notch, but if another crony of Tinunbu were to be elected into Alausa, the worth of that tight knit Lagos Mafiosi 'family' would be anyone's guess. huh cool lipsrsealed
Politics › Re: Have The North Really Contributed To The Image Of Nigeria Abroad? by KnowAll(m): 3:12pm On Jan 05, 2013
Besides that Hausa language is widely spoken in Africa, the choice of Hausa language as a medium to welcome visitors at posh London shops is not unconnected with whom the British handed over crude oil money especially in Nigeria.
Abegii, give credit where credit is due. The North has the most uneven society in the country, in that the gap between d rich and d poor is astronomical. Unlike what obtains in the south, this inbalance in the social strata makes it inenvitable that those Hausas that find themselves in London are the super rich with a lot of dollars and pounds to spend. Whilst in the South, 419's, agbero's and other kindred spirits can find their way through the back-doors, travelling to the western world is at the behest of the very rich in the North. Any wonder why the son of a billionaire banker from the North wanted to blow an airline. huh

If you go to the posh shops in London to shop in the west-end, one of the languages chosen to welcome august visitors to their shops is 'Hausa' if that is not a positive impact what can be further from the truth huh undecided. Despite the fact that less than 2 miles from the west-end, we have one of the Largest concentration of Yoruba's and other southern Nigerian's in Peckham their languages are far from considered. (Bare in mind I am a Yoruba, so no sentiments).

Abagworo: Let us use common sense and stop all these "I better pass you" arguments. Anambra State for example has more problems than Akwa-Ibom be it infrastructure, population or urbanization. Both Anambra and Akwa-Ibom got 2.7billion as statutory allocation and Anambra is expected to pay the workforce, take care of 3 major cities and higher population. Same is expected of Akwa-Ibom but there is another 11.2billion which is 5 times the income of Anambra State which comes as jara from oil. In assessing the performance of the Governors, I don't see Akpabio as doing well. He has only succeeded in road construction and painting after getting extra 11.2billion monthly for 6years. I believe he is presently Africa's richest man.
I agree with 'Abagaro's' argument, you see the 2.7 billion Naira statustory income given to Akaw Ibom can be use to for Infrastrutural development without a penny of that money stolen. But 1/2 of the 11.2 BILLION they get from derivatives might all be going to his pocket. Whilst the other Governor's of non-oil producing state would have to manage their mearge amount by stealing some, showing some development strides, and paying wages the south-south Governor's have a monopoly of un-precedented and unchequered stealing.

IS it any wonder that Odili is the man behind 'Arik' or the rumour that Rotimi Amechi has 2 refineries in Ghana, or better still Sylivia's confistiated houses hitting the headlines recently. Akapbio give or take is one of the richest Nigerians, if all funds accrued to the state are spent judiciously and with a population of 3 million people, that place would be Eldorado. You will think 'Eldorado' does not exist, but give those funds to a sefless man and see eldorado emerge from the swamps of the Niger Delta.

We never had Keke Nepap in 1975 during Gowon's time when Nigeria was adjudge as one of d richest nation on earth, nor had all these phoney infrastruture development we now see in Uyo, yet back then, a common brick layer or a hard working campenter can buy a brand new peugot 404 pick-up. That man(Akpabio) couldn't have one the last election in a true free and fair election. How come despite all the infrastrutural development, the Governor was fighting tooth and nail to win the last election. Well the good news is Akwa Ibomites are sophisticated voters they can see the beyond the fake facade called development. They Know that man is a clever fraudster.

Keke Nepap reeks of poverty. All I see and sense in Akwa Ibom's development is a man trying to kill a fly with a sledge hammer when he can kill it with a more sedate weapon. The people are poor, they are lacking, yet Mr Governor is building all these grandiose over-budgeted edifice to show d world he is doing good works, obviously simulteniously linning his own pocket (that man is probably one d richest Nigerians ). I must admit I support his style than those do-nothing Governors who swindle their respective states without doing anything.
