Samueltemi337: They won't even see semi finals in this coming AFCON Yes in football anything can happen cos I remember Senegal defeated France the defending champion 1-0 in 2002 WC...Cameroon beat Argentina in Italian 90.....but on paper Algeria should reach Afcon semi final. |

daveP: I doubt Algeria will attain that level of Indomitability. E fit be Mali wey go stun them. E dey happen. If we beat them that night before that silly freekick Mahrez scored, im sure most of us won't look at them the way we are looking at them now. But they can win it one or two before 2028 IF WE BEAT THEM...do we beat them?NO but at the end they won Afcon beating Senegal....that's what make a champion. The team still look solid from 2019 till date and this is the reason why people still rate them not cos they won 2019 Afcon. |

daveP: You're reiterating my initial comment na. Confidence booster is what i found funny. I didn't downplay their timbre and calibration na.
But Arab cup as confidence booster? Yes...in football no matter the opponent, coming out as a winner always boost the team ego...that's my point. |

daveP: Confidence Booster??
Big Error if any of the North African teams see it that way. I hope they rep well in Cameroun though. Sir,Algeria is the Afcon defending champion and went to Arab cup and won it....irrespective of the opponents in Arab cup,it is something good for the team....here we are not talking about North African teams but Algeria as a team. Algeria is a team to beat in Afcon,so no need to downplay the team. |

The trio will make the final list but in case Osimehn injury denied him....Awoniyi or Dennis likely to lead the attack....just a question to Eguavoen in case Osimehn didn't make it and he said Eagles have Awoniyi and Dennis. |

Karlovych: To be fair Okonkwo hasn't done well in the games he played so far for Arsenal especially during the pre season, I know he is only 20. If Okoye Maduka can be given the opportunity from fourth division and with dearth of quality keepers then given Okonkwo chance should not be an issue....remember Uzoho had just two la liga matches but kept mostly in Segunda before gotten his invitation and went to world cup as eagles number one. |

Also said that we could find better keepers in the NPFL than what we currently have
I countered that I do not trust the products of the NPFL, mostly because whatever has been churned out in that league over the last 5 years has gone on to wither in the midst of world football, especially if said player is over the age of 22. NPFL better than English championship?NO o.....but agreed on Keepers in NPFL. Alloy Agu failed regarding NPFL keepers. |

chrisooblog: You are making the mistake of assuming more money equals to the quality of a league.
The English championship is not some treasure trove jaw dropping talent if not you would have been seeing them in other leagues. Can you imagine a player in Reading or Bournemouth getting signed by say Dortmund going on to win the league in his first season?
How many lower English league players have done a Kante? Sir,English championship is ahead of Spain Segunda irrespective of talents in Segunda......I quite agreed with you on Nwakili,he hasn't done much but we are having issue with creativity in the middle and that sentiment can bring Nwakili in.... If Eguavoen can give Okoye Maduka treatment to Nwakili, probably we see something good but Nwakili I watched recently will need to buckle up to make 28 man list if he makes 40 man list but anyways we do have gatecrashers. |

safarigirl: Yes, the value standards are poor, there is definitely that.
And while I did not want to mention any names, we all are privy to the entire debacle that happened with Iheanacho thanks to his father. It is just a pointer to what was to be expected long term, because I cannot imagine such a person instilling the right values in their child when they are bereft of it.
In comparison, you can look at how Osimhen has handled himself since his breakout, and there is clearly a difference in values, and by extension, drive.
That being said, poverty in itself strips far too many people of certain core values necessary for growth.
I agree with your postulation though Osimehn,Ndidi,Patoranking sold pure water in the streets of Lagos,so they know what it takes and it reflected in their careers. |

TheGoodJoe: I will like to share a sincere apology on how I went off at the appointment of Eguavoen. Even if it was not the trajectory I expected from the team and felt he has been off the scene to just take it, I think it is not too bad an appointment.
The coming weeks will give us an idea what to expect if we don't get a press conference from him.
As for Salisu, that is a very tough one but we can not deny his technical know how. I feel Rohr's game suffered with the suspension of Salisu. Salisu seemed a key arsenal for Rohr.
As for You, he still remains a National hero and vastly experience. He might have more to offer tactically than it looks.
Dr. Terry. We should hope his knowledge can transcend into tactical reading and inputs for the team.
I think with the explained break down of law and order in the camp by Pinnick, I see why the likes of Kanu and Okocha we're recruited.
Pinnick believes with more highly respected names in the camp. Ex-Players that have done it in Europe and for the National team. Those that have seen money, they can get the players to respect the team's management.
So I will throw in my support behind the coaching crew and the NFF to see how the first week plays put before taking my final stance. Do you think these players send any ex international cos I remember how Mikel indirectly talked Okocha down for coming out to criticize their performance....I remember how Omeruo's wife criticized Okocha openly,so Austin Okocha,Kanu and Garba Lawal should take a caution in the camp and act like a good ambassador to the boys. |

Dey re not accusing some1 like me,na stars we dey dey talk abt here..so I repeat..it doesn't make any sense using such a story as "cruise"
I would even suggest NFF investigate d matter privately....and if d stories comes out true, den d trio shld be excused from d nations cup..we don't need distraction at d main event.. Like what happened in 04' Veteran sport journalist Osasu Obayunwana no dey carry fake news...he was the one that reported the sex story and Peterside Idah corroborated him on supersports football Africa. |

Has he done any other national job since then? Cos im very much unfazed by these Malta and SA addition to this cv. Very much to be sidelined to me. We want to do Shaibu Amodu with Eguavoen?
I dunno, but the trust just skyrockets when its not supposed to.
Besides, its not just corruption. We have Tactical acumen too.
But as i said, this appointment is more of Trust than Qualification. I'm riled up cos its a WC year. This shouldn't be happening atall.
We don't want Fans to be singing "Tunisia lo maa jabo" for the two legged WCQ. Dave man let just be hopeful....Rohr achieved nothing in Africa football before his appointment with eagles. |

forgiveness: Eguavoen has won Bronze at the AFCON. Won Federation Cup. Coached a team to second place in Malta league. Coached in South Africa.
He is definitely far better than Finidi and Amunike combined.
The only problem with a local coach is corruption. Gbam! Austin Eguavoen is not corrupt or have you heard any news related to him on corruption. |

Well they will be there for just a while Humility baba, pls try and move closer to these retired players may be you will understand the politics...do you leave in Abuja, pls go to goal project and catch fun with them.If you know how to play the game, you can join their All star team cos it seem you have this bad feeling about them... Cerezo I mean Austi Eguavoen is a complete gentleman and highly responsible, have known him for ages through his wife Victoria Eguavoen a retired Nigeria basketballer.....Please most of our players are not that fetish. Austin is not a do or die affair man, check out his loyalty to Stephen Keshi during their playing days. When he was relieved of his job and his friend Samson Siasia took over,no hard feelings. My major concern can he really instill the discipline into the team cos he is damn too quiet. |
