Those that Know me very well here know my philosophy of not rating a player based on youth performance alone. So that sermon you are preaching is not for me.
And I have never been an advocate of invitation of any mediocre player to the national team. Infact, I don't easily get flattered by those club performances of players like most people here.
What I have told you is a very simple reality. If Kelechi Nwakali's performances at his club improves he stands a chance of getting an invite. Don't rule out that possibility. What is wrong with that statement?
Chief I don't rate Iwobi but Nwakili bibawo.
Nwakili still has a lot to do and the only advantage going for him was U17 exploit, nothing more.
Blueelf: Why was kelechi benched for so long even when it was apparent that he was on a hot form? Despite his resurgence, how many starts has he been given?
You see my point now?
Sir,truly this is Nigeria Forum but sometimes we just need to say the truth.
In Leicester team, no coach will bench Vardy for any player.Iheanacho has not done enough to start over Vardy.
soetanoreoluwa: Well said Sir. The way we do our rating lasan. It is well.. If you don't like player or his style of play talk am not that you will tag such player worthless
Thank you Soetan, not rating a player shouldn't be a yardstick to tag such player a shit
I can tell you that I don't rate Ekong but he is one of the best three performing Nigeria CB this season with Omeruo and Semi Ajayi.
Danielnino00: My point is simple: let Moses enjoy his retirement in peace while we carry on with the new crop of players at our disposal...they have everything it takes to be better than Moses.. some of them already have better stats than Moses when he was at their age..
Rohr is building a young and talented team that would last us for long even after he leaves.. I'm afraid, the likes of Moses don't belong in that team...
Simple question,is Moses Victor coming back to Eagles?NO,so what a fuss.
Oh they have everything to be better than Moses... that's what we want but I don't want them to be better than Moses but better than Odegbami,Adokiye and Finidi cos Victor was not even better than the trio.
Danielnino00: The bolded isn't a valid argument.. Moses had the privilege of growing up in England, hence he was able to get into an English club academy and start his career there like most of his peers.. The likes or Kalu,Simon, Chukwueze and Onyekuru meanwhile started from the streets and the academy.. They have been able to work their way from the bottom and gradually going to the top.. Look at Simon for example, from Slovakia to Belgium to Spain and now France... Same with Kalu.. Chukwueze from Villarreal B to Villarreal main team and now attracting interest from big teams .. Onyekuru from Qatar to Belgium to Turkey and now France. These boys may not have done nothing special for super eagles yet,but please don't belittle them... They have what it takes to be better than Moses and all those past wingers you mentioned there..
Just like those past players you mentioned,Moses has played his part for the team.. he helped us win the AFCON, he helped us qualify for the world cup.. He has done well! Just like Mikel and Enyeama, they should be allowed to enjoy their retirement in peace while we give opportunity to the news boys in the team..
My man my point is very clear and TheSuperNerd really got me right.
My man I rated Chuckwueze highly and I know with guidance he would likely be Nigeria all time winger,so nothing like belittling but saying the fact.
I don't see any reason for any comparison between Victor Moses and the likes of Oyekwuru,Chuckwueze,Kalu even Simeon cos they belong to different Class.
I wish those guys well but the hypes here is just too much.
Haha Oyekwuru and Victor Moses on the same page,no my man.
TheSuperNerd: Elder Uncle Kog, I greet u. I just wanted to balance things really.
Victor Moses remains the best winger we had in the last decade (2010 - 2019). Absolutely no debate about that. He deserves some huge respect abeg.
Also, right now, what he has achieved has not been attained or surpassed yet by any of our current young wingers.
I must admit though that the current wingers like Chukwueze, Simon, Kalu, Ejuke, Bonaventure, Onyekuru still have their best years in front of them and are all still upcoming.
One or maybe two of them could end up matching or surpassing Victor Moses' legacy of achievements with the Super Eagles and at club level and a few of them like Chuks truly have world class potentials to be much more but they are still growing so UNTIL THEN, we must accept that FOR NOW, Victor Moses is their boss on the wings.
Please, in analysing and making our points let's be guided abeg. You may not prefer Victor Moses but he is not a shitty player at all. Show some respect man.
And yes, I saw your next line saying "he is a good player and all" but you also labelled him shitty in same sentence. Abeg, make una take am easy.
Nerd Walahi u like wahala.
Abeg u just have to read some posts and move on
How on earth would someone described Victor Moses a shit player and started rating rookies like Chuckwueze,Kalu who have not done anything for eagles.
I remember it was here we are telling them that Moses Smon is a better player than Kalu Samuel. By
Damn too funny to see some stats guys always bringing out to analyse players.
Victor Moses started his career in EPL for God sake not backwater leagues were Kalu,Simeon Moses started, even talented Chuckwueze has not done anything to be compared to Victor Moses.
No wonder some don't even rate Musa a four WC goals scorer, telling us that unproven Kalu,Oyekwuru,Chuckwueze,Simeon are better.
When chips are down we know the real Super eagles players who aways rise to the occasion when we needed them most, they deserve little respect.
The likes of Chuckwueze,Oyekwuru,Kalu,Simeon need to convince us more cos we have seen better wingers like SegunOdegbami,Adokiye Aimesemeka,Felix Owolabi Humphery Edebor, George Finidi,Tijani Babanginda Emmanuel Amuneke,Victor Ikpeba,Victor Moses and Ahmed Musa.
I am glad he made a name for him self and some money for his family
Dude has not been active for 3 years now ,age don catch up when am ,his official age is 31 but Sunday mba is nothing less than 41 years ,even Messi self go don retire for that age and una Dey ask wetin go wrong with Sunday mba
Andrew baba,41years bibawo. The way una dey call this age sometimes dey give me headaches o.
Children of hate, won't like this, but their hero must be probed as regard their interactions with a fraudster and money laundering syndicate
Atiku even told us how he hacked INEC server with his gang in party of Tax Collectors, now it is clear Hushpuppi was the hacker, Woodberry was the picker
let me help them tag @CIA @FBI @USembassy @Interpol, @Unicef @NCDC @IdaboskiBayouseHQ
Let Dino Mehsuya explain how he got a fleet of luxury cars earning less than 2 million salary as a Senator, and let Atiku a mere custom officer became a billionaire in dollars that he resigned without pension
Dino Mehsuya we know you are hiding in one babalawo's shrine in Kogi State, praying for Hushpuppi to run mad before he confesses, but guess what ? blood of shuku Okeke epon malu would cover Hushpuppi and he would confess
ChrisKels: When next are we assembling another U20s? This boy and Ugochukwu need to be fast tracked into our youth system asap.
Neither of the two have been capped by France at any level. While Ugo is keen on a chance with Nigeria, I can't say same for Usman though, but there is no how he would opt for CAR ahead of Nigeria
Usman opt for CAR?possible cos full blooded Nigerian Emma Adebayor opted for Togo.
Philosopher1979: He might make it. I think he can go above average. He is showing some stuff
1. He holds the record as the youngest african gial keeper in la liga. 2. His perfiomance against world class teams is commendable. Argentina in the world cup and brazil in a friendly. 3. He is still very young for a goal keeper and so i think he has quality. I mean hiw many 19vyear old keepers can hold their own agaunst messi and co at a world cup. I beleive he has a lot to offer
Yes you are right but remember Enyeama have a cap against Kenya(a friendly match) prior to 2002 WC and was magnificent against England with beautiful save from Schole shot.
Uzoho would work his socks off to equal Enyeama record.
TheLoneCitizen: As long as the team is the the second-tier they are just a 'can-be', let's face the status quo.
Talk of relegation, Ekong's Udinese are facing relegation, so his stats should compare favourably to Omeruo.
Talk of relegation, Andy Robertson, one of the current best left-backs in the world, was snapped up from a relegated Hull.
Talk of Championship, the worst team in the EPL this season, were the best in the Championship last season. So how can you judge a player based on second division football. You ovverrate this division.
Talking of Bamba to Van Dijk, it is a myth that Bamba had better statistics to Virgil. Let's check. A player who scores 200 goals in 500 games is not a better scorer than one who scores 50 in 70. A player who averages 20 dribbles per game at a 60% accuracy is not a better dribbler than one who does 5 per game with a 95% accuracy. So also, peripherally Bamba won more tackles than Virgil by far , but Virgil had a better success rate. Bamba had a rate of 47.4%, Virgil was 92.9%. This means for every 5 tackles he made, there were 5 unsuccessful. But Virgil had just 1 unsuccessful for every 9 successful.
Ekong has a rate of 45.5% while Omeruo 64.3%. To damn Ekong even more, he has attempted just 29 tackles and has this woeful percentage, compared to Omeruo who has attempted 48.
Secondly, Van Dijk had a better rating compared to Bamba, so also Omeruo has the best rating of Nigerian defenders.
Respect, man, respect.
My man am a real fan of Omeruo but statistics cannot be used to determine a better defender though my man did well this season but saying is the best is debatable.
English football is not a standard of measurement for European football
These spanish teams you talking down on have dealt with premier league teams of late
Sevilla knocked out Manchester united under Mourinho
Chelsea had to hold on tight to luck to see out a draw against Valencia
"low club" atletico Madrid knocked out the runaway champions in the premier league
I won't place a bet on west ham winning against Real betis.. And I'm also certain a game between Villareal and Everton can swing either ways
Spanish football is not as bad as you trying to paint it.. I watched a group of fishermen from Ibiza playing well against Barcelona
English football is not the beginning and end of European football
And the championship is not as great as you want us to believe
Ayew is king there
Yes you are right but Seville beating Man Utd happens in football so no big deal.
Sir, championship is better than Spanish segunda and overall EPL is more competitive than la liga though I still rate LA liga as the best due to exploit of Real Madrid and Barcelona.
Danielnino00: Musa is one of those players who never really reached their full potentials.
If he had joined a club with a decent coach who knows how to develop players, he would have turned out better... Even at his age,he still has his speed...his final ball product has always been at best average..
Kai,this guy have four World Cup goals. The SE current wingers are learners forget all the hypes.
do4luv14: Or a seasoned sport journalist like Colin Udon,
ah no wan hear Segun Odegbemi ooo
kai you want Colin Udoh but you don't want Odegbami, then am speechless.
Do you really know Segun Odegbami?
Apart from being a good footballer in his days, Odegbami love the game so dearly. He solely worked tirelessly and made sure Nigeria played England after US 94(Wembly showdown)
He was one of the brains behind private investment in Nigeria league and sports in general.I remember how Odegbami always traveling with eagles to give us live updates on what was going on in eagles Camp
Apart from football,Odegbami ventured into other sports by managing sports men and women. If you don't know,Odegbami took over the management of Chioma Ajunwa prior to Atlanta 96 and the result was a gold medal won by individual(Ajunwa)till date in Nigeria Olympics history.
If not for highly politicking in Nigeria sport administration, someone like Odegbami should have been NFA chairman long time ago even sport minister.
do4luv14: I still dont Believe Amos Adamu is from the north, he might be an Edo man tho,
majority of Sani, Ibrahim, Aminu, with a certain Sani Toro, with one of them wanting to make himself a live president
Amos Adamu is from Sokoto State but Ogbomosho descendants from Oyo State.
Sani Toro remain the best NFF secretary general ever and Abdulmumini Aminu had a good time as NFA chairman.
Abdulmumini Aminu was the founder of Elkanemi warrior of maiduguri when he was Borno State governor and lured players like Samson Siasia,Osaro Obabaifo and Nduka Ugbade to Elkanemi
do4luv14: Who is the Idea person, or candidate to rival him,
pls dont mention Shehu Dikko, Chris Giwa, and Akinwumi,
plus i dont trust the north with such a position again
Pls what do you mean by "I don't trust north with such a position"
We had good NFF president in Amos Adamu and Abdulmumini Aminu though I rate John Obakpolor,Anthony Ikhazabor and Emeka Omeruah highly.
Kidjo Williams would have been the best but he was not ready cos he failed to learn the basic sport administration from his late Dad S.B Williams who was astute sport administrator.
Kodjo impeachment gave us Dominic Oneya,Ibrahim Galadima,Sani Lulu and,Maigari and their administrations did not really help Nigeria football until Amaju came in and thank God Amaju did not behaved like Kodjo cos they shared the same ideology but different administratively.
TheSuperNerd: Flashback to when The Big Boss, Stephen Keshi had the task of man marking the Great Camerounian Lion, Roger Milla.
Cc Icon4s, Kog45, Enomakos, and the other Arch Elders of the house. Na una go sabi this period Wella.
22 years old captain Stephen Keshi led Green Eagles against Idomitable Lion of Cameron(1984 Afcon final)in Ivory Coast which Nigeria lost 3-1.
Nigeria team was very young with Peter Rufai, Patrick Okala,Raymond Best,Sunday Eboigbe,Ademola Adeshina,Humphrey Edebor,Henry Nwosu,Rasheed Yekini,Yisa Sofoluwe,Chibuzor Ehilegbu,Clement Temile,Stephen Keshi with old warhorse Mudashiru Lawal.
The team find it difficult against very experienced Cameroonian team that was full with players from Espana 82 World Cup.The Cameroonian team did not lose a single match but failed to qualify from group stage in 1982 World Cup.
This was a Cameron team young Green Eagles led by Keshi faced in the final, but I will never forget the semi finals match with young Peter Rufai showed his class but injury kept him out in the final and Patrick Okala was in goal.
Danielnino00: I don't know why these state governors won't sell off these clubs they claim to manage... They are being run like other state owned institutions in this country... Underfunded, underperforming and yielding little profits.. They should allow the private investors take over abeg...
