BascoVanVeli: USA had like 3 leagues going at a particular time. The private clubs are within their right to start their own league. The NFF cannot have a monopoly on leagues. I am all for it. The more jobs for our youths the better. If the NPFL want to stay alive, in the words of Drake they have to look alive. Show the fans why they should watch. Sir the question is this, are those 3 leagues in United States operate outside the guidelines of US football authority. The more reason I said I need someone to interpret the legal implications of having another league apart from NPFL. |

Edopesin: So no football competition can run in the country unless sanctioned Pinnick? I highly doubt that
Let's see what people inclined with legal matters have to say This is a private league not competition for cup and to make it clear any football related competition always have the backing of NFF,if NFF see it as a good development to Nigeria football,no issue. As you said let lawyers in the house say something on likely legal implications. |

Edopesin: Does he have any legal authority to do that? Yes he can do so cos he is the chairman of anything relating to football in Nigeria and moreso FIFA or CAF would be frowned at such development, private league when we have NFF organise league. Legal crisis looming. CC:safarigirl,,mujthida |

Tamunotonye22: Please why do you say so? Sir,i have never heard of any private sponsored league in any country,so why in Nigeria. The organiser of this purported private league should have channel their resources into Nigeria league cos I still remember Alfusalami rocks,Leventis United,Abiola babes,Iwuanyawu Nationale,Flash Flamingo,Ibwa,Femo scorpion,ACB,First bank, Julius Berger,Ibukun Oluwa,Rancher bees,Nasco jet,Jasper united,Concord fc,Raccah Rover,BCC lion etc. These are private clubs that made Nigeria football beautiful to watch in the 80-mid 2000. If they have any issue with LMC they should just go to the round-table on the way forward cos NPFL remain the bedrock of Nigeria football and bringing any private league would lead to total collapse of half dead NPFL. |

Icon4s: This was part of the thinking that led to the clamours for inclusion of new players at the detrement of quality and experience.
As at 2005 Okocha and Kanu were still very much in the thick and thin of the game.
Oruma and Obodo that we thought would fit into the shoes of Jay-Jay were not really measuring up to the standards Jay-Jay had set.
Even though Okocha retired after the 2006 AFCON Kanu still went further to play 2 more AFCONS (2008 and 2010). Chief,i think that was general belie that Oruma, Obodo even James Obiorah failed to live up-to expectations but forgetting that active Okocha will always getting the starting shirt. Thank God he retired, player like Mikel would have been a bench warmer( 2006-2010) with Okocha still active. Pls boss compare Kanu 1996-2006 to 2006-2010 with Super Eagles. Chief, Kanu has nothing to offer after our failed 2006 World Cup qualifications,my opinion Chief. |

Icon4s: Not only Okocha and Kanu selected matches, some other players too did.
I remember that game in Luanda that we lost 1:0. That game was why we trailed Angola for the rest of the qualifiers. The problem was they underrated Angola. Many star players were missing. And then there was also the chant of "Try new players".
However, that doesn't mean Kanu, Okocha and Yobo wouldn't have turned up with their games at the WC if we had qualified.
This is one thing I respect Rohr for. Every game is very important to him. He usually calls up the best available players. Chief as at 2006.Okocha and Kanu have nothing to offer again and building that Team around the duo was a mistake. A team captain skipping matches then what do you expect from his teammates. |

Icon4s: That Team with a proper coach could have caused major upsets at the 2006 WC. With Martins, Yakubu, Utaka, Osaze all at their peaks. Buoyed by Okocha and Kanu with all their experiences. Young Mikel and Taye Taiwo just broke in. Yobo and Odiah were also at their peak. Obodo, Olofinjana, Ayila, Lawal and Oruma part of the midfield. And of course the trio of Enyeama, Ejide and Aiyenugba were among the best in Africa. Oh you forgot that Okocha and Kanu cost us 2006 WC qualification with them skipping matches Yobo also failed to do the needful by allowing Fabrice Akwa all the rooms to score that important goal against Nigeria. Most importantly,we built 2006 team around tired legs of Kanu and Okocha and we paid dearly for it. |

It was in the 1993 Flying Eagles team that I think Kanu was drafted as a DM even though he was later dropped because of his size Kanu made Flying Eagles team to Mauritius 93 but failed to see a game.He was not dropped. After the team failed to qualify for World Cup, Kanu and Emma Babayaro were drafted to U17 team based on Westerhoff recommendation cos they are still eligible for Golden Eaglets, then Eaglets were struggling in their games during qualifications. |

sagna112: My name is Uche a 100Level supposed medicine and surgery student of a Nigerian University, I used to be very brilliant and that was what instigated me to apply for Medicine and Surgery after acquiring an aggregate score of 270 in both JAMB and POST-UTME Examinations, I was then admitted a years ago into a university.
I am the only child of my parents, they have spent so much on me just to make sure I become a doctor, dad had to sell one of his plots of land to pay for my registration fees, purchase a brand new laptop, a phone and clothes for me and all my needs, Mum who has no job since she was sacked by the state government will always try to send the little that will pass through her, when I think of the way she announced to her friends when I gained admission to study Medicine it brings tears from my eyes.
It will be an injustice on me to be blamed or for me to blame myself, I know the effort I have also made, I have always taken my studies serious, I never missed any lecture, I neither miss assignments nor tests, I sit at the front of the class, I don't keep bad gangs, I have never attended a party, sometimes I do RTDB (Read Till Day Break), what is then my offense? why me?
At the end of my 100 level Second semester my CGP was reading 4.2 without a single carryover, I was very happy because I thought I had scaled through the danger zone.
The unexpected occurred when I logged into the school portal at the end of my Second Semester Examination to check my result, I cleared all the courses with A's and B's but a course was reading Carryover, I nearly fainted when I saw the result, it was a biology course I offered in second semester to me the course was the simplest of all. I did not inform my parents because I din not want to dishearten them.
The school resumed, so I went to my HOD and complained, she took me to the Exam office who searched thoroughly for my script and from what I saw it was obvious I failed, I scored 32% and was asked to change department, my HOD advised that I go to Biological Sciences, my eyes were filled with tears.
How do I tell my parents this, it only mean I have brought shame to them. I have remained in school since then crying from one angle to another I don't know whether to go home to my parents to inform them of the truth or keep telling them lies.
I need your sincere advice. Yes very difficult situation but you just have to manage the challenges you are facing now critically or else you will end up frustrated. I have a friend who was withdraw from medical school at 300 level, not really easy for my friend. He was withdrawn and offered anatomy at 200 level but guess what he refused and went for another Jamb and later graduated studied accounting. I later asked him why accounting,he said his parents forced him to read medicine, truly the guy is very brilliant. My dear to cut the story short my said friend is now a millionaire cos the guy went to private business and with his intelligence he was able to make it. Please don't feel offended this may open another way for you if you handle it with care. |

Icon4s: Firstly, let's remember the argument is about which of Kanu or Yekini is our all time best striker.
We are not talking about whose style of play best suits the modern day game. Good enough both players are no longer playing.
And like I will always say, the modern day game has become so dynamic. Averagely a Very good players should be able to play up to 3 positions comfortable to be able to remain relevant to the coaches' tactics and continue to make squad list.
There are some games you play that you need your striker to play as an old fashioned number 9. There are certain games you play and you chose to adopt a false 9 option. There are others that you play and your striker does the ball holding and distributing job.
Looking at the way Kanu played, if you have him in a today's team, it will be a waste of resources to have him as an Old number 9 kind of Striker. He is more of a holder and distributor which also agrees with your assertion.
But again the argument is not about now. It is about who deserves to be our " all time best number 9". That person is Yekini Well said |

TheGoodJoe: Yes, but, the philosophy comes first. Gabriel Jesus is no where a lethal finisher than Aguero. Guardiola still left Aguero on the bench for numerous occasions until Aguero assimilated the philosophy and to me, plays it better than Gabby Jesus (except intensity and defending). So Yekini might have the lethal goals but no way can he bring the philosophy to the table, which is paramount and which Kanu understands and plays it to the end. Hmmm thegoodjoe thegoodjoe |

Icon4s: Kanu was a great player, even though I would not agree to making him the top striker in the "all time best 11".
Personally I don't see Kanu as a CF. He was actually not much used as a CF. He was more of a supporting Striker (what we called number 8 those days). Kanu may not have scored many goals for the Super Eagles but his contributions to the overall play of the team was immense.
He was involved in build ups to several goals, he gave us several free kicks in dangerous positions and created a few penalties too.
In today's football Kanu would have been best played as a "number 10". Chief you are right but Kanu will never make my best Super eagles XI even as Number 8,i will rather go for Daniel Amokachie or Samson Siasia. RasheedYekini/Amokachie or Siasia combo still the best. |

Do you see Guardiola, Klopp, Arteta, Bosz, Sarri, Emery, Tuchel, Ten Haag etc signing a striker with the primary aim to score goals? Now, more is required from strikers than just to score goals. Thus, Kanu trumps. Sir,Kanu as Super Eagles all time striker? A striker with 5 Afcon and 3 World Cup appearances without a goal can never be eagles all time striker. I think Guardiola have Aguero doing it good for him with great goal ratio. If not Aguero would have been warming the bench for the likes of Gabriel Jesus. |
