The way you spit ignorance with confidence is incredible.
All stats released this year with regards to security status on Nigerian waters have stated that insecurity is at an all time low.

It's only in your own book that pirates are getting way too high.
The term "way too high" is subjective and opinion based from my personal expectations and experiences.

Yes shockingly for some and many may disbelieve but this year I've spent 7 months in Nigeria, over several trips. my view is first hand knowledge based not media anchored.

So unless you can substantiate your view and quantify it with figures and events , you should not call anyone ignorant.

Because you have low expectations and enthrone mediocrity , I don't have to join you in your misguided delusions.

MSC Lucia, flying the flag of Panama and bound for Togo, sent out a distress call around 1pm local time on Monday, when it was boarded by armed men approximately 86 nautical miles southwest of the Agbami Terminal on the Nigerian coast.

Isotrex legion MRAP, one of the best MRAP in Nigeria.
Maiduguri fine sha.
What makes it one of the best MRAPS.

In my opinion having an MRAP is a basic requirement.

What rally is the pertinent question is not its defensive and protective posture but its OFFENSIVE capacity, does it have FLIR with a RWS, we tend to mount a lot of HMG on our vehicles armoured and soft and not with any precision fire support systems.

My preference considering the terrain would be for a grenade launcher 40mm knowing the high probability of getting ambushed.
Foreign AffairsRe: Battle Field Discussion (picture/video) Of African Military . by komekn(m): 2:29pm On Oct 28, 2021
Its possible I am raising this topic very late.

But a few days ago the MSC Lucia off the coast of Nigeria in our territorial water was boarded by Pirates (possibly Nigerian) the ship gave out a distress call. And the Russian Vice Admiral Kulakov, Russian warship sent a Kumov Ka-27PS helicopter with the combat-ready squad to liberate the vessel. The pirates on seeing that the Russians are not likely to engage in peaceful discussion decided to "Jakpa" and flee the scene and not rely on the efficacy of their "Odeshi"

This is worrying trend and a slight on national pride , because prior to the intervention of the international community pirates was getting way too high. We now need foreign navies to secure our territorial waters , hmmmm get as eee be.

A task force from the Russian Northern Fleet has been on an anti-piracy mission in the Gulf of Guinea over the past three weeks. It consists of the rescue tug Altai, the medium sea tanker Akademik Pashin and the large anti-submarine warfare (ASW) vessel Vice Admiral Kulakov. The Russian marines are providing security for shipping and monitoring the maritime situation using deck-based aviation.

In this regard you should NEVER EVER go on the same road twice, that’s standard practice for most modern and forward thinking armies.

But we go on the same roads day in day out.

You don’t need intelligence to mount an ambush or plant IED’s just a simplistic PROBABILITY ASSESSMENT.

2022 AFCON : Odion Ighalo's Presence Is A Desideratum For The Super Eagles
Hattitude

Odion Ighalo is back in the news after netting two excellent goals for his club Al-Shabab Football Club in the Saudi Arabian Premier League encounter against Al-Hazm on Sunday.

The 32-year-old forward scored in the 3rd and 87th minute to give his club their first victory of the season, four games.

Ighalo has now netted six goals for his club this season, and 16 in total since joining from Manchester United last year.

Ighalo is one of the most in-form Nigerian striker at the moment and that is the reason, Super Eagles manager Gernot Rohr want him to come out of international retirement and help the team.

It's been two-and-half since he retired from the national team, but no striker has been able to produce goals consistently, except for Victor Osimhen, but he can't continue to shoulder the burden alone .

With the African Cup of Nations approaching, The Super Eagles needs another good striker, if they are to excel in Cameroon, and I strongly believe Ighalo is a better and safer option than Paul Onuachu or Terem Moffi.

Ighalo has the ability, pedigree, and the experience to deliver at the highest level. What he's doing in Saudi Arabia at the most is incredible, and NFF must stop pretending like the Super Eagles don't need him.

If Sweden can beg a 39-year-old Zlatan Ibrahimović to return to the National team, I don't see why Nigeria Football Federation shouldn't support Gernot Rohr to bring back Ighalo who is six year younger.

Ighalo still a lot to offer the Super Eagles, and the Nigeria Football Federation must do everything within their power to reunite him and Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr.

In conclusion, Ighalo and Gernot Rohr combination has produced goals, victories, World Cup ticket and African Cup of Nations bronze medal for Nigeria and they can still achieve more together.

The Super Eagles have been giving the target to win the AFCON in Cameroon, and Ighalo might just be the man to help Gernot Rohr deliver the title to Nigeria.

All I need to cause panic and loss of cohesion in such bases are long range weapons that will allow me hit the camps and put me out of range of most of their riffles. Surround such a base from multiple sides and you will just be laughing at what you would achieve.
This is small forward operating base with IMO , l don’t think with more than 100 combatants or thereabouts.

I would call this supposed military forward / defensive camp layout ABSOLUTELY SHAMBOLIC and essentially a suicide camp.

You are literally sitting ducks

No Core defensive points
No Perimeter restrictions
No Primary and Alternate battle positions

You could literally go on and on

You would be better off with 10 armoured vehicles preferably fighting vehicles , with a mobile defense strategy.

This is to avoid the situation where projects are just carried out in a location solely because Oga is from there, the CDS may decide to setup a "Rainforest" warfare training centre in his village for the Armed forces and if asked why that was so he will now say are there rainforests in the north? Instead of given us reasons why that decision was taking and what goal it tends to achieve. E.g All of us know the idea of building a Tucano base in Niger state makes alot of sense because of proximity to area of operations in the Northeast/Northwest axis; it will look awkward to build such a base in Lagos or Bayelsa.

Can you point out to me where i said Buhari should not be blamed?

In times of win/achievements, it is not Shehu Shagari that would claim the spoils.

Clearly using a political undertone and using political bias in your argument, but that's fine.

Has Buhari provided the tools the military requires within available budget to ensure that our armed forces have the right equipment to combat insecurity in Nigeria?

Has the President put in place the mechanism to eliminate corruption in procurement of arms, favoring deals instead of black market purchases?

Has the President appointed competent individuals to lead our Armed Forces, with the likes of S.B Abubakar, Buratai and Ibok Ebas?

Has Buhari ensured local participation of Nigerian companies by signing Executive Order 5 in the procurement process?

Just like a FTSE 500 company would elect/select a leader to turn around their fortunes or steady a rocking ship by identifying areas of weakness. In that time, lack of elements of leadership have been GLARING with Buhari.

All previous failings should have been enough to provoke a defence review and innovative adjustments applied. Human components, updated leadership training for officers, adopt best practices, revamp army culture, recommendations to plug operational gaps, intelligence gatherings, and so on.

So can you explain to me, what this is?

Submission of Report of C’tee on Review on Armed Forces Act CAP 20

The need for the establishment of necessary institutions and framework to meet the yearnings, aspirations of citizenry, officers and men of the Armed Forces in order to lay solid foundation for an enduring and sustainable legacy for the Armed Forces cannot be overemphasized.

This remark was made known by the Honourable Minister of Defence, Mansur Muhammad Dan-Ali, while receiving the final submission of the reviewed Armed Forces ACT CAP A20 Laws of the federation of Nigeria, 2004, in Abuja.

While addressing the members of the committee, the minister stated with delight that the combined efforts of the report of the constituted Committee has contributed towards his dream of leaving a legacy of a strengthened and sustainable legal framework for regulating the Armed Forces of Nigeria.

The Constituted Committee were mandated to critically examine the Armed Forces ACT of Nigeria, collate views from relevant stake-holders and to come up with a reviewed ACT that is comparable with what is obtainable in other developed democracies.

Minister added that the reforms made by the Reviewed Committee will go to annals, of history as a ground breaking efforts geared towards bringing the Armed Forces ACT up-to-date in this 21st century, consistent with international Standard and the best practices.

Instead, we are still playing from the same old military era rulebook, buy new equipment and think we can build a successful army when we haven’t addressed the human factor.

https://defence.gov.ng/2019/08/21/submission-of-report-of-ctee-on-review-on-armed-forces-act-cap-20/

The NAF is currently made up of six commands namely: Tactical Air Command, Special Operations Command , Mobility Command, Air Training Command, Ground Training Command and the Logistics Command with headquarters in Makurdi, Bauchi, Yenogoa, Kaduna, Enugu and Lagos, respectively.

Let’s not get too hung up on this thread too, but read through the indices, study the dynamics of what NA failures is doing to communities.

IDP camps springing up in Northern states, food famine due to deserted farms, migration from the North, already impoverished families selling up lands to richer folks to be able to pay ransoms. Who should take the blame for this otherwise?

You made claims you cannot prove, emotional outbursts that is consistent with most Nigerians, no research, no investigation, just unfounded claims.

Nobody is happy with the level of insecurity in Nigeria, but to make claims that this government hasn't made the necessary investments, Passed necessary laws to ensure that the level of insecurity we currently see in Nigeria is nipped in the mud is a blatant lie.

These investments haven't yielded the positive outcome that we want to see, but their has been real commitments.

In my own assessment, and irrespective of our political, tribal and religious views, we as Nigerians need to understand that the security of Nigeria is also our responsibility irrespective of who's in power.

I am not absolving this administration, the buck ultimately stops at the President's table, he is responsible, but we also need to do our own parts.

These criminals whoever they are, government or people are from our communities, they didn't appear out of thin air.
You put aside the naked bigotry, the blatant nepotism, the willful degradation and abuse of the “Rule of Law”, Religious discrimination, Tribalism , Tacit support for Islamic fundamentalists, The destruction of the principle of Federal character, Lip Service to fighting Corruption, Widespread ineptitude and incompetence across the board in governance and a complete and total failure of the entire security infrastructure of the nation, the use of EFCC and DSS to carry out wanton harassment of assumed political opponents, the Attacks on press Freedom and even attacks against individual free speech , etc to mention just a few

And yet you some how give this government a resounding pass mark and even COMMEND the CONDEMNABLE.

And I’m thinking that the way I’ve come to view those that post on Niaraland, individuals are guilty by association with tribe, if names are revealed, Niralanders would accept their guilt largely based on tribe .Imagine if he points fingers at Jonathan, will the same enthusiasm be maintained by those that are now eye-balls out, waiting for some northern figure to be named. The reverse would be the case for those that view themselves as Northerners first. They would never accept that fingers pointed at Jonathan are fabrications, no matter how blatant.

Nigerians are having difficulty adopting the objective mindset.
There are many thieves and armed robbers known to the public.

But getting the evidence to prosecute them successfully may be problematic.

Consider the current bigoted and nepotistic regime that will give cover to its highly placed members who are complicit in the sponsorship of Boko Haram.

And you can see why it might be wise not to name names before you get arrested on grounds of national security, etc

Covert1:
African Special Forces Review

Covert1

There are salient points I consider studying recent Spec Ops deployment across board. Which of these have shown anything comparable in terms of combat, doctrine, operational equipments and funding to any foreign power with expertise in the field of Special Forces Operations on land, sea and air.

Generally when we look at Special Operations Forces the first thing to make them anything effective would be funding especially for training and then weapons and equipment. If we look at sub-saharan Africa and take the regional economic and political centers of power though nascent in development I'd say each have horned their own combatant specialties but have they earned their stars.

There are other active spots of CT/COIN operations like Mali, Cameroon, Chad, Niger, Burkina Faso, Somalia, Egypt and elsewhere with some decent Special Forces Operators, some small and effective while others would take years to reach the status of those being studied here. The focus here is the three rich economic powers of sub-saharan Africa and their response to existential terrorist threats.

Of the three economic centers of power all evidence points to the Nigerian Armed Forces Special Forces community and the Kenyan Special Forces to be actively engaged in CT or COIN operations. Of the two nations the Nigerians are the most engaged currently in desert warfare special forces operations and also seaborne anti-piracy operations. The Kenyans in the Horn of Africa operations. The South Africans have only now come into the game in Mozambique but we have no proof yet of any contact with the enemy.

I had anticipated more information on the South Africans however whatever sources I have shows clearly prior to now and I mean since the advent of democracy in South Africa the Special Forces community had been on the decline when compared with what obtained in the SADF. The deployments in Bangui, CAR and the DRC which did not exactly end very well both politically and in military terms showed all of these limitations some of which I clearly blame on the nigh incompetent military command hierarchy appointed based on ANC Party solidarity. There appear to be efforts to resuscitate those capabilities but again as we saw elsewhere there is not the full compliment of assets needed for a Special Forces unit to be very effective in specialized operations.

There are many things that beg the question in the current deployment especially CAS and ISR platforms. I have submitted any experienced SF operator can fire and hit bulls eye without optical scopes but even things like that are compliments you find with most SF units worldwide to make certain target acquisition. The question again would be the tactical and operational engagement in which the current units in Mozambique are to be employed: Urban Warfare, Close Quarter Combat, Recce, HVT kill or capture and or clearance operations. What is their doctrine of combat that might help explain why they deploy AKM rifles without optical sights. I haven't seen an RPG in sight though they are well armed. I don't want to believe funding is the problem as President Cyril Ramaphosa has released almost a billion Rand for this mission. The current deployment in Mozambique however seems to want to prove a point to redeem credibility.

I have always had a high regard for the Kenyan military as a professional military organization. In East Africa based on their economy they should adequately hold their own against any adversary both state and non-state actors in the region. The Kenyan military Special Forces have proven lethal and successful in the last decade and with more funding can acquire and maintain even more specialized skills.

This is not biased but clearly in my estimation the Special Forces Community spread across the three arms of Nigeria's armed forces the Army, Navy and Air Force are the best in sub-saharan Africa. A combination of factors make that possible especially the main one funding. These guys are lavished with the best equipments money can buy and they train with the best of the best. They also have under their belt the most SF experience and success and are the most active duty Special Forces Operators in combat anywhere in Africa.

The purpose of this piece is to provoke critical intelligent military thought and analysis for the good of our militaries and not for name calling or insults. Strength and honor to the warriors.
In order to carry out critical analysis you need to have both participative and specialist knowledge.

Without knowledge you cannot appraise and offer constructive criticism.

That then limits your research question to a persons limited knowledge and in your case parochial perspective.

RPG7 effective range about 300 metres beyond that wildly inaccurate and not more than 500 metres beyond that it may self destruct.

If you are landing in an airport, there should be a wide perimeter fence and security beyond 600 metres on the ground.

So it is not reasonable to be law abiding in what you define as a lawless country but you can complain about it being lawless but do nothing about it, when you know the change has to start from the individual members of the society
About two months ago, l was going to Warri by road, from Ajah,Lekki. By myself.

The lawlessness of the police ( multiple check points) make it seem a criminal offence to have a decent car. And be driving by yourself.

I went with public transport YES, on arrival in Edo state, was stopped by two different police checkpoints.

Both the checkpoints were manned by police with no name tags and or identification number. To make things more worrying they had purposefully covered the number plate of the patrol vehicles.

They had the obligatory AK47's.

They proceeded to search everybody in the Siena mini bus and search their luggage.

There intent did not seem to be law enforcement but something else.

However, on both occasions neither was my person or luggage searched. They just saluted me and said " recognition " whatever that means.

If these police had found any of the passengers with any considerable amount of cash. The story would or could have been different. They just seemed like armed robbers in police uniform.

So being a law abiding citizen should I have sternly taken them to task and challenged their unprofessional and dubious behaviour.

Would that be the reasonable thing to do in those circumstances.

And what do you think would the response of these dubious police. huh huh

I am familiar with Nigeria judiciary it mirrors our society in many ways, intrinsically corrupt.

Dude the facts are there !
During 2014 to 2016 this terrorist took over Territories in Adamawa, Yobe and Borno states. We suffered casualties that was hidden.
One annoying video where NA soldiers where seen running away climbing a mountain to cross into Cameroon, alot of humiliating videos like.
And this period, most equipment used where obsolete and we had worst military chiefs, don't forget "dansuki gate"... The list is endless.
The truth is people like you easily forget or where just finishing secondly school and you know nothing about the war in the North East.
2014 to 2016 where the darkest moment in the North East, ask any military personnel.
Talk for yourself please, but to make denigrating assumptive inferences on another person knowledge, whom you do not even know. That's just nonsensical balderdash.

This is SamuelAnyanwu that we know here.

He isn't a government choir boy and praise singer unlike some here. But a person of INTEGRITY.

You should really apologise to him

About time! Those dane guns and pump rifles are no match for the AA guns the terrorists use. At least, this would help.
We are currently operating two systems of governance and legal ⚖ framework in the one country.

Civilian JTF are carrying assault rifles and Amotekun, Benue Forest rangers. etc Dane guns and pump actions, etc

In the face of murderous terrorist herdsmen who are killing at will and as if above the law with AK47's.

That's not just a double standard but a constitutional crisis.

We are effectively having not state police but state Militia.

They normally greet other soldiers at checkpoint and you can pick up words during phone calls.
Sometimes it's just intuition.

I was on flight to Logos,Nigeria and there were group of Americans.

I IMMEDIATELY knew they were either current or reservists and or contractors they were clearly battle hardened. Apart from their physical presence the posture, the mannerisms, etc

On getting up closer saw some 82nd airborne tattoos on a few of them.

All I can say is you just know from experience and association.

To Identify our soldiers I think will not be hard for people in the North.

The people murdering police and soldiers are people's parents, brothers too. And the chances that they will tell their families they are involved with heinous crime is slim to none. So no surprise here.

And why do you have to keep on copying and pasting stories on the front page here?!
When it comes to integrity one thing is clear THE POLICE OVERWHELMINGLY HAVE NONE

Why would you believe the story of the police has more credibility than every day citizens.
