oyatz:@Oyatz I agree with your first paragraph. People have to keep an open mind with some of these things. So, are you saying with certainly that Sen. Fatai Buhari's paternal side is originally of Fulah descent based on what his nephew told you? Femi Fani-Kayode also has a Fulani Great grandfather who was an Islamic cleric and this is why he said he is one-eighth Fulani in terms of ancestry but mostly Yoruba. I know FULL well from reading past historical materials for decades now that the major post-colonial Fulani thrust into the hinterlands of Yorubaland took place after 1900 with small cattle settlements especially in today's Oyo State. Indeed, Islam originally came into Yorubaland (Oyo Empire) over 500 years ago from Mali hence the Yoruba name "Esin Imale" or "Religion of Mali" used to describe Islam. Iwo in Osun State has the first and oldest mosque in Yorubaland according to the Oluwo of Iwo. With reference to Alhaji Mutahiru Saraki, there's NO doubt that the man has NO immediate or extended family ties with Ilorin. That's what he told Ambassador AbdulGaniyu Folorunso AbdulRazaq in 1962. He ONLY came to Agbaji in Ilorin for Quaranic studies at a young age from his hometown in Abeokuta. This is an open secret now to even the Ilorin indigenes that Dr. Olusola Saraki is an Egba. The Saraki's have NO single ancestral family house in Ilorin so can't be from Ilorin claiming descent from a non-existent Fulani ancestor who allegedly came from Mali to Ilorin 200 years ago. The only thing Dr. Olusola Saraki had going on for him was that he was wealthy, hence was tolerated because he spent money on Islamic causes in Ilorin. Oloye (Dr. Olusola Saraki) REAL ancestry was busted hands down from multiple sources. |
forgiveness:The man directly behind Ambassador AbdulGaniyu Folorunso AbdulRazaq (the father of AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, the current Kwara State Governor) on the left is Alhaji Mutahiru Saraki the biological father of Dr. Olusola Saraki in 1962 and he was the leader of ALL Nigerians living and doing business in Cote d'Ivoire (Ivory Coast). Ambassador AbdulGaniyu AbdulRazaq was the Nigerian Ambassador to Cote d'Ivoire from 1962 to 1964 when he was recalled by his party, the NPC to Nigeria to hold a Federal cabinet position.

Unclebayo:The creation of an Ijebu State without the addition of ALL the Ijebu Local Government Areas in Lagos State comprising of Ikorodu, Epe, and Ibeju-Lekki and nearby environs is nothing according to the Ijebu folks who are currently indigenes of Lagos East Senatorial zone of Lagos State. For those who don't know, the splitting of Ijebuland in the defunct Western Region on May 27,1967 by General Yakubu Gowon's military government into the two new states of Western State (later became Ogun State In 1976) and the new Lagos State led to Ikorodu, Epe, and Ibeju-Lekki being carved out of the larger Ijebuland to make up a larger landmass for the new Lagos State to benefit the indigenes. States should ONLY be created if they are viable or BOUNDARY ADJUSTMENTS can just be made to bring ethnically similar people together instead of splitting them into multiple states where they ALWAYS get marginalized! Some new States that seriously have to be created or have boundary adjustments in order to bring rapid economic development, stop major ethnic clashes and ethnic dominations are Southern Kaduna, Southern Borno, Southern Bauchi, Southern Gombe. The Nupes of Kwara with 2 LGAS can be administratively merged with the Nupes in Niger State to create a new Nupe State, the Baribas (or Batonus who are Farooq Kperogi's people) have a larger part of their land and people in Benin Republic but they have 2 LGAs in Kwara and can merge with Niger State or be with the Nupes in a new state, and the Yorubas of Kwara with 12 LGAs out of the 16 LGAs of Kwara State can have a merger with the Yorubas (Okuns) of Kogi State. There's a lot more to be said, but I'll stop here for the sake of brevity.

matify83:NOTE: In standard English, Ms. can be used for a married woman as a title especially if you don't know whether she is married or NOT. Ms. is also used for an older adult woman of late 20s, 30s and above who is unmarried (NOT the use of Miss). Second, Miss is used for ONLY a young, unmarried woman in her teenage years right to the early 20s. Last but not least, folks should each invest in getting copies of the "Oxford Advanced Learner's Dictionary" to get a rapid hang of the usage of gender titles, salutations, phonetic pronunciations, and more. |
BlueRayDick:Succinctly put. Tbh, there's loads of trolls and half-educated posters here on NL these days stemming from the "unmonitored initial NL registration" process that enables dishonest trolls to quickly register many fake NL accounts with free throwaway emails... But then my joy is also reflected in the fact that NL has a lot of brilliant folks that I've interacted with over the years who have the ability to discern facts from fiction and/or half-truths. |
BluntCrazeMan:This is awesome! Those women (who really merit the positions) are taking over the corporate leadership of banks and other institutions. They are dusting the men. Tony Elumelu has majorly women handling the different divisions of Heirs Holdings as well.Kudos to Ms. Bolaji Agbede as she moves into the Acting-CEO position. Keep Herbert's memory flying. |

sketching:Kayode Egbetokun, the inspector-general of police (IGP), has asked Nigeria Police Force Cybercrime Centre (NPF-NCCC) to clamp down on persons spreading fake news to jeopardise national security. Egbetokun directed that persons found spreading false information or engaging in cyberbullying should be prosecuted. In a statement on Monday, Muyiwa Adejobi, force spokesperson, said certain individuals have started sharing old contents on various social media platforms to “undermine public trust in the policing system”. @The BOLDED above is the focal point. Sharing fake or old TEXT and VIDEO contents online to undermine public trust in the policing system. |

otipoju:Cancelling your flight was the right decision. Herbert Wigwe's Special Assistant, Faleye Olusola allegedly escaped that copter crash in the Mojave desert simply because he chose to go to Nevada by road for the Superbowl finals because of the bad weather conditions that night. Any discerning person would do the same based on predictable or logical sequence of events in the past with regards to copter (and even light aircraft) accidents. I just got an UPDATE that he (Faleye Olusola) went by road because the copter could NOT take all the luggage they came with. The original story about him declining to fly because of the bad weather was reported on multiple online channels within 2 hours of that copter crash. Fact-checks are very important. |
hisexcellency34:This is still surreal to me tbh. My condolences again go to the entire Wigwe family of Isiokpo in Ikwereland and the Ogunbanjo family. They left footprints in the sands of time. |
oyatz:Bump. Senator Fatai Buhari is NOT a Fulani. AbdulFatai Buhari is simply an Islamic name that any body from any ethnicity can use as a Muslim. This is a quote below from a 2022 NL thread: "Fatai Buhari is a Yoruba man from Ogbomoso south local government. His family house is at Ibapon Ogbomoso. A one term rep and two terms senator. I hope this is useful for you." => https://www.nairaland.com/7151718/fatai-buhari-defeats-shina-peller/1 In addition, Alhaji Mutahiru Saraki (who was the LEADER of the large Nigerian community in Cote d'Ivoire in the 1960s) is NOT descended from any itinerant Yorubanized Fulah origin. He's the father of Dr. Olusola Saraki and a proper Egba man from Abeokuta (Egbas being a branch of the Oyo people, migrated from their original land in Ibadan to Abeokuta). Dr. Olusola Saraki's mother was from Iseyin in Oyo State and that is well-known. These historical records have to be succinctly stated for posterity sake. If Alhaji Mutahiru Saraki was of so-called "Mali Fulani" descent, he would have told the Nigerian Ambassador to Cote d'Ivoire from 1962 to 1964, Ambassador AbdulGaniyu Folorunso AbdulRazaq, SAN. Instead, he CLEARLY told Ambassador AbdulRazaq on several occasions that he is from Abeokuta but only went to Agbaji in Ilorin for Quranic studies. He had NO extended family or family house in Ilorin but he did have in Abeokuta. Olusola Saraki created this Mali story as a subterfuge to gain political leverage in the national space. The current Governor of Kwara State, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq is one of the biological sons of Ambassador AbdulGaniyu Folorunso AbdulRazaq. Senator Khairat AbdulRazaq-Gwadabe is also his daughter. The first attached picture directly below is a 1962 photograph of the then newly appointment Nigerian Ambassador to Cote d'Ivoire, Ambassador AbdulGaniyu Folorunso AbdulRazaq, SAN, and the Ivorian President Felix Houphoet-Boigny. Directly BEHIND the Nigerian Ambassador to Cote d'Ivoire is the LEADER of the Nigerian community in Cote d'Ivoire Alhaji Mutahiru Saraki, the biological father and grandfather of Dr. Olusola Saraki and Dr. Bukola Saraki.

ferhyntorlah:True that. I first visited the well-planned commercial city of Abidjan, Cote d'Ivoire by air in 1988 and was stunned to see a lot of Yoruba folks there engaging in international trade and other careers. Flying back again, the plane my folks and I boarded had a few Lebanese and a lot of Yoruba business folks (male and female) on board who engaged in trading along the West Coast of Africa. I found out years later that Bukola Saraki's paternal grandfather (Alhaji Mutahiru Saraki) and father (Dr. Olusola Saraki) also lived in Cote d'Ivoire (Abidjan) back in the 1950s and 1960s. In 1962, Alhaji Mutahiru Saraki became the leader of the large Nigerian community in Cote d'Ivoire. This information is from an interview that the late father of the current Governor of Kwara State (Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq) granted a few years ago in 2010 (Ambassador Folorunso AbdulGaniyu AbdulRazaq, SAN, was the Nigerian Ambassador to Cote d'Ivoire from 1962 to 1964). So, a lot of Yoruba folks majorly from Osun, Oyo, some Ogun, and Kwara live in Cote d'Ivoire and officially the Nigerian Embassy puts the population of Nigerians at about 3 million of which over 2.8 million are Yorubas. |
abdeefggh:"Seems" is not the right word to use. There is a HIGH concentration of Ejigbo folks living and doing international business and more in Cote d'Ivoire for many decades now. They even speak French and the local Ivorian languages in Ejigbo and listen to Ivorian music there especially the elderly who have retired to Ejigbo from Cote d'Ivoire. I first visited that country decades back by air and was stunned to see a large presence of Yoruba folks in the beautiful, well-planned city of Abidjan. |
Supremos:Cote d'Ivoire has always had wide boulevards and clean neighborhoods. The respect for traffic lights even at night was exemplary. This is the reason why the commercial city of Abidjan is regarded as the "Paris" of Africa. My first trip by a Nigeria Airways Airbus A310 to Abidjan enroute Kotoka Airport (Accra) in the late 1980s (1988) was truly humbling for me. I NEVER underestimated any African country again after seeing the well-planned infrastructure of Cote d'Ivoire right from the Felix Houphoet-Boigny Airport to Hotel d'Ivoire where I stayed in the Cocody District. Indeed, there's a huge Yoruba Diaspora (mainly from Ejigbo in Osun, Oyo, Kwara, etc) of over 2.8 million according to the Nigerian Embassy official information in Cote d'Ivoire doing international business and other careers in that country for over 100 years now with some having citizenships of that country. Hands down, Cote d'Ivoire has the best planned cities in West Africa. Even Wode Maya aluded to that in one of his recent videos and said Abidjan was better than anything he had seen in Ghana. |
Neonspook:Bump Alhaji Dahiru Mangal, one of Nigeria’s richest businessmen has thrown plenty of funds into Sunday’e election in Niger Republic, backing the establishment candidate Mohamed Bazoum for presidency. Mangal, once known for cross-border businesses with Niger, some illegal, has raised the tone of relationship to getting involved with the country’s politics. In a report by PRNIgeria, Mangal via proxy presented 100 vehicles to the Banzoum campaign in Maradi, the Nigerien border town, which President Buhari is linking with Kano by rail. All the vehicles were branded “Mohammed Bazoum, 2021” with the portrait of the candidate. Mangal, whose son Dikko married Governor Aminu Tambuwal’s daughter Aisha in 2017, is reportedly worth around $765 Million He is a director of Oando, where he has investment in millions of dollars. His candidate Bazoum is a protege of President Mahamadou Issoufou and the candidate for the ruling Nigerien Party for Democracy and Socialism (PNDS), PR Nigeria reported. |
LoveLeadsLand:But there is a level things get to and things happen by themselves. I found that the increased death rate of Nigerians watching the AFCON tournament is a manifestation of a protest happening under the hood. Many Nigerians are hungry, so hungry they are unable to fight back at their real enemies. They have no one on whom to vent their frustration since they are afraid of the overlords. They sometimes try to vent it on their fellow citizens. But being equally hungry and therefore angry, those fellow citizens will often fight back. Being a coward, which is typical of all bullies, the Nigerian goes back to his shell. Then, he looks for the easy way out which must be entertainment, the modern opium of the masses. ~~~~~~~~~~~ WHAT I MEAN BY ‘HUNGER’: SHOWING HOW IT AFFECTS NIGERIANS ACROSS BOARDS Hunger here is not all about bare food, even when that is still a concern in Nigeria (which is a huge shame). ‘Hunger’ also includes businesses that are failing and other indices of micro and macroeconomics that are going down. So, don't ask me about the supposed ‘big man’ that died in a West African country. ‘Hunger’ also includes when there are too many people opening their mouths to you to feed them. Many Nigerians in the diaspora have been going through a lot, trying to pay bills and still have something left to send to their families and friends back home, many of whom have been impoverished mainly by a continuous succession of government high-handedness brought to a head by the current administration. In a soon-to-be-published article, I'm going to share the screenshot of a conversation that took place on a platform for Nigerians in the UK recently. That illustration has a way of deepening the explanation of this. ////// ////// My Takes on This Topic: The Italy-based Desmond Nweke made some interesting points, BUT he is absolutely WRONG with regards to the cause of deaths of those 5 folks who passed on last week. 1. First off, people have been passing on from shock or heart attacks as a result of the poor performances of their favorite sports clubs for years, and the advent of the Internet and social media just made the aggregation and broadcasting of these deaths much faster. The lack of multivitamins and sustainable physical exercises to firm up the lungs and hearts are major causes of these deaths and bringing politics into the convo mix was completely off the trail to be honest! 2. Second, when YOU put TOO much EMOTIONS and unrealistic expectations in a sport like soccer, you'll be absolutely disappointed! Only the very wise folks would realistically detach themselves from a mundane or ephemeral sport such as soccer being played by a group of overpaid young boys or young men for private sports club or for national teams. These boys have been known to play way below par when fans have great expectations from them. 3. Third, people must learn to derive their joy (or happiness) from engaging in other less emotionally-draining hobbies or sports such as chess. This is exactly what I've done to avoid potential heart attacks after the male soccer teams such as the Eagles played NONSENSE on the field of play (back-to-back) in the late 1990s to early 2000s. The golden era of the Nigerian soccer "Dream Team" during the Atlanta Summer Olympic Games in 1994 was a great moment for me, but I've since learned the art of detachment from this kind of team sport called soccer so as NOT to die prematurel! 4.Gambling or sports betting: The love of sports betting can also contribute to having heart attacks if results do not pan out as planned. Hope this helps. ////// ////// |
