Are those VRF types are of economically viable for projects like hotels or multiple units of condos? |

FEGEITOK: Well, over to the professionals. Could it be a sizing issue? Either the unit is too small or the room(s) are too big for the application?
I cannot say which is which.
When I got my A/C I calculated the area and used some online calculators to determine the appropriate size of AC for the intended space it is well, I can’t really say ooo. The heat and ventilation department no better ooo. We end users just need room temperature according to law of the City. |

diordaves: From my past experience, I can hazard a guest that lapping or lack of it is not the only issue with your roof. Metcopo has a design/conceptual flaw. It is always not a good decision to settle for metcopo.
If it is lapping, then nail down the flapping parts. The solution depends on the nature of the leak. Is it leaking whole scale? Like all part of the roof is leaking? If yes, you may need to reinstall using double lapping method.
If it is only leaking in sections, remove the leaking section and reinstall using double lapping method. This approach worked for me and ever since, I've sworn never to use metcopo again.
Do you know there are homeowners who never had a single issue with metcopo? But these homeowners are in the minority. If you use metcopo, one issue or the other must crop up. If no be lapping, na factory corrugation, or na as the installer knack the nail. One issue sha must give you headache. I’m one of those lucky people never have any issue with metcopo in 3 different locations in the last 15 years. Although .055 gauge is always my choice. |

FEGEITOK: I am partial to Japanese technology.
Others exist, you can search for them.
Panasonic is just as good.
Use VRV or multi-split ac to do your search Thanks, this is the one in my office with 17 internal cool and hot splits, in my opinion is not as efficient as the older regular ones. When the weather is extremely hot we can’t fill it as much. The AC’s guys department are forced to turn the chillers on.

babadots: Multisplit or multi split ACs are systems that have 1 or more indoor units per 1 outdoor/external unit. This allows one to minimise the number of external ACs hanging out on walls.
They are not Central Air-conditioning Systems powering the entire house, but you can power between l and 6 units/rooms from just one Outdoor unit.
This allows you to purchase 2, 3 or 4 units to power the entire house.
They are much more energy efficient than the standard splits as they only generate output based on the demand for cooling. If you switch on the AC in one room, for example, it will only be using say 20% of the installed capacity.
We don't use it much in Nigeria because it is the next level up from split units and relatively newer in technology. I think it will become more popular with time and Solar deployments. Thanks, this is amazing they are not multiple splits that as one single condenser outside unit with 4 to 8 split internal units. My concern about this particular unit is the cost of energy consumption. Although I understand it can be programmed to use any of the units when needed, but the condenser unit is running at capacity which I think is not cost efficient. Please, if you don’t mind can you share more lights on it, or if possible post what it looks like for others that may be interested to learn about it thanks. There is a debate between some professionals in that line, in regards to inverter AC’s and regular AC. Some are of the opinion that the regular AC’s is more powerful in times of output performance in cooling. The other opinion is the inverter AC’s are only good in energy savings but not strong in times of outputs of cooling. |

What they call a Self contain is a Squatter or thereabout. I guess it's their own terminology. Hummm, why is the pastor trying to measure your life style. Well done Engineer, I noticed something about you in the last decade. Your love for lafarge green cements is unquestionable. I understand the terrain where you do most of your construction, it’s make me make informed decision using it when I started similar project till above first level, before changing it to Dangote 3x due to challenges of supply. It’s worth it in opinion from my little research in how it characteristics of its formation. In those terrain, even though I’m not a civil engineer. I still believe it’s better for those kinds of projects. Engineers in the house, this is about a decade ago debated then. I believe is still valid till date. What are your thoughts and experiences in both brands products? |

sonnie10: In practical terms, someone who was able to send $1k monthly before might only be able to send $400 now, if their income didn’t change. Even with high exchange rate now, the high cost of building materials would negatively affect what ever gain made. This debate is unnecessary, who even sending $1k monthly before he be lucky if he can still send $400. How about nothing? if he or she struggling to pay his bills. Is hard for people to understand this not until you move here permanently, then they know the difference between kaki and leather. That $100 someone send, do they know how many hours that person worked to get that money. No one I repeat give anyone money here you must go and put in those hours to make money for yourself. |

sonnie10: Can you do that one that has like metal rib design in between the joints? I will find picture of the sample
By the way this is one of reasons many don’t give there prices here. All these counter lower pricing once someone else states their own price is just some how. That is why it’s should be open market, higher prices doses not results to quality finishing. We all had it with Mr Okewa and other guy about their tiler few weeks ago. If some people want make profit of 15k per door for example because he is being busy with different jobs, other's that haven’t get job for 2 months with family to feed, may preferred to do same for profit of 10k per door, think about it. Read the break down Analysis someone else give with the number of HDF woods needed to fabricate the door. To be fair, location is a factor too. |

If you use the regular electric water heater. Electric bill, or fuel, generator capacity all inclusive = Thousands naira in five years, won’t you choose solar water heater?. I just wake one of my friend up few months ago about same issue with solar lights around the perimeter fence including all the security light in the house, after wasting his money on fueling for few years, on big generator. KolaShangOne: For a duplex? Can you do a breakdown of finishing just for discussion sake?
Oyaaa.. let's start.
Generally, these are assumptions.
1. External Entrance door - 350,000 2. Ante room door - 200,000 3. Room doors - 5 - 500,000 4. Kitchen external door - 180,000 5. Verandah door (upstairs) - 180,000 6. Toilet doors (5) + store door- 420,000 7. POP / Plasterboard - 1,700,000 - 2,000,000 8. Screeding (in & out) - 600,000 9. Kit hen cabinet + marble - 350,000 10. Kitchen sink & tap - 65,000 11. Hood extractor - 100,000 12. 5 burner cooker- 120,000 13. Wall tiles for 5 bathrooms + labour - 600,000* 14. Floor tiles (Italian, CDK) + sand + cement + labour - 2,200,000 15. Painting - in & out + labour - 750,000* 16. For logistics - 150,000 17. Scaffolding - 800,000* 18. Borehole - 700,000 19. Light fittings - 750,000 20. Switches + sockets - 300,000 21. Cameras - ****** 22. Electric fence - 350,000 23. Water closets - 350,000 24. Showers - 75,000 25. Mirrors, waste paper holder etc- 100,000 26. Railings for stairs, balcony etc - 400,000 27. External plumbing - 250,000*
Etc etc You try sha, but those doors prices are outrageous. Why people still buying water heater, when they could make one time investment on solar water heater. No electric bill for life. Imagine buying 8pcs of water heater @50k each when you could get solar water heater for same capacity for 500k or little more and you set for 5 - 6 years before replacement if it necessary. Let think and invest wisely. |

cash1115: sir I agreed with your point but in my field where you gave me pop on contract basis you give me your design and I fix it, you will have problem with me cos I need to give you what u want, I mistakenly fix a wrong pop for some one some years back and I sent him the picture the man was so angry, I had to cut it down and start afresh. Some time it takes ur worker to have the fear of God to do a good job some workers are heartless and wicked Hahaha fear of God from Naija artisan? Many of us are watching when some of the guys what premium pay for good finish. Thank God some one among us as paid still get low quality finishing. Another person pay what many consider low pay and get premium finishing. Comparing locals with international is just comparing apple with orange. Please don’t get me wrong. I think many of our locals want to know how much these guys paying as taxes, insurance, license many other certifications, before they can’t even operate. Those things are not joke here. If one violates the laws they will lose their license and go to jail. it’s not a joke, again these guys do not inflates materials, they do not use inferior materials, they keep by the books that is why many of them charge does premium to give premium finishing. |
