Car Talk › Re: Ever Been Mislead By A Car Advert? by lagerwhenindoubt(m): 3:47pm On May 21, 2011
I would have loved to close a car-purchase deal on Nairaland, sadly my two attempts were eye-opening. one ad is still running on the auto-section

I can only say this, avoid any ad that says
1: Clean (Very Clean) they are usually trying to discount other faults such as aging engine
2: 50Km or 60Km mileage is seen as a super-opportunity, My Honda just clocked 37KM and that is from driving 10-15KM back/forth from Surulere-Ikoyi over the past 3yrs
3: Pictures too large to post (popular excuse) When i did see the actual car and drove it lipsrsealed knock+paint job and engine cackled when revving in motion
4: Price is outrageously high (like so high adding N50k will get you brand new) or ridiculously low (it has to have been stolen)

Satan used to be holy, he got the boot when he quit, sinners cannot live in Heaven except you repent.
But Satan is an Ex-Council member and I believe he visits heaven as a matter of obligation to represent his constituency. Was he not there when Job the decision to afflict poor ol' innocent Job with a malaise of sorts wink
Job 1:6
"Now there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the LORD, and Satan came also among them."
But fear not, I have it from authoritative sources that JEGA has postponed the rapture indefinitely due to logistics challenges and computer malfunction in registration centers at Heaven's Gate. A proposal has been put forward to prepare a $30 billion budget for eye-scanning equipment. grin

Onye Babe:
Point being? The term graduate only implies the person has completed a university degree programme, it does not mean they have the skills for the job even though the role is not classed as a high skilled position neither does it mean you should get paid a certain amount. There are many graduates around the world who do the same thing, you don't snob an opportunity because you have a degree, the job pays above average wage so because the salary cannot buy you a house does not mean the job is not worth committing to. smiley
True: Your Qualifications does not equate actual job skills or experience
True: Being too qualified for a low-paying job-role does not mean you should snob it
True: Low Take-home pay (as long as it is above average) does not mean you should not be committed to the job

However the gripe is not about all of the above but particularly about the gripe below

Argument: Considering the size of the Airtel's Nigeria customer-base and the frequent customer-experience issues non-technical (average-skilled) Staff have to deal with, if Take-home pay cannot be reconciled with present economic hardship, then work hours must be reduced
Argument: If Airtel's profits allow, then pay-increase must follow to match the extra man-hours demanded by the company

NLC was f*ucked from the day Oshiomole and Reuben Abatti were reputed to have collected Bribe and Parcel of Land (at Abuja), from OBJ, to scuttle the incessant fuel price increase protest, back then.

It was OSHIOMOLE in prticular, that killed Nig. Labour Congress, just to advance his selfish interest in politics. End of story.

What we now have are opportunist masquerading as Labour Leaders.
Thats where lies the problem.

@Airtel Workers: Send a petition to the House of Rep/Senate, Follow it up with a Peaceful Protest at the Gates of the NASS.
Document the exploitations (Spy Cameras, et all) and let a TV station do a documentary with it. Give them a tough "negative Publicity" and you might swing public opinion in your favor.

Well, that is if you're not like the typical Nigerian that wants others o fight their battle for them while they stay at home seeping coffee grin wink
Way to go! I thought i was the only one who considers Oshiomole a traitor to the mandate of the masses

BINGO!

God knows your prayers before you even "speak" it out, "from the abundance of the heart speaketh the mouth, " so all these business "churches" came out with this brand which is in sharp CONTRAST to what happened at Pentecost.

It is now used to differentiate between the "initiated" and the general population,

I once escaped from a miracle session trying to heal my advanced malaria fever by prayers alone. I was forced to shake my head back and forth in spite of the pounding head-ache. after several unconvincing attempts, i realized i could possibly pass-out and die, i cried out literarily and started speaking in tongues (cries of agony) and soon everyone joined in and in 10 minutes an ordeal of over 30 minutes was over grin

Edo Youths (Bini boyz) are the laziest of the lot, followed by Ikwerre boyz then Ogoja boyz, but hey, Bini kingdom is bereft of any impactful employment opportunities as the only industry they have is the Witches and Wizards Industry. I think they should just take this opportunity to enhance their skills in non-militant activities - like babysitter or pastor or even Policeman grin

Christianity Etc › Re: The Fallacy about Speaking In Tongues And The Modern Day Christians by lagerwhenindoubt(m): 1:06pm On May 09, 2011
Speaking in tongues is not isolated to the christian religion alone, there are several cultures that report common instances where adherents go into a trance during ritual ceremonies and start murmuring or mumbling what seems to be incoherent gibberish. They claim that when you are possessed of the spirit they are worshiping, it takes over you and starts speaking with your voice. I don't know how the apostles spoke in their time or how they do now, but I remember vividly watching a documentary of Brazilian voodoo ceremonies and their spirit-raved rabble sounded very similar to what pentecostal Christians sound like when speaking in tongues - just an observation

Business › Re: Nigeria Customs And Dhl Problem by lagerwhenindoubt(m): 12:59pm On May 09, 2011
This is normal, import duties must be payed for dutiable goods and DHL will inform you by whichever means you chose when preparing/registering your package for delivery.

I think you can pay at Zenith Bank and bring your teller to the Customs Office to claim you goods. I had a horrible experience shipping Flash-Drives I found the package opened and they claimed they were searching for dangerous items and 11 Flash-drives went missing. Just be careful shipping small items that can easily get lost or stolen at Customs.
