man i am so out-dated ![]() |
methinks not. there are tons (literally) of Custom components in classic asp and .NET (both free and commercial) so it must be academic training on how to do yours if need be. always loved scripted components cept for the security alert, it s cool for intranet apps, but will be wiped out by internet settings on the wwweb amongst other script-blocking apps |
@dhtml. pls ignore my post. carry on with your coding i'd be interested to see how this pans out ![]() |
Well, well. i am so addicted to tables as a good layout tool, maybe if there was a Table-CSS converter, i would be a fan. Noted, all the good points on XHTML and CSS are what every designer should be heading towards. I am just hoping W3c will come up with something that matches the layout ease of tables with simple to code (columns, spans, nested td) and easy to get into. my css know-how does not go beyond fonts and hyperlinks i am afraid |
scriptaculous. ![]() all i can say. maybe anchoring the tooltip by the side of the link will separate it (visually) from the current position where it obscures part of the listing and time. have you seen this (it is also based on the scriptaculous script.) http://www.nickstakenburg.com/projects/prototip2/ Man http://www.aittvusa.com/ site works and looks good. permit me to froth at the mouth. |
Great! ![]() Have been eye(ing) facebook platform since last year. the potential for revenue-generation is massive, but ideas that turn traffic into monies is another dimension altogether. current model is still based on piggy-backing on adverts displayed while users are on your application. Nairaland could make a smooth transition or establish a parallel model that allows Nairalanders who are hooked (certified addiction to nl) on facebook to still stay in touch. I am sure google adsense revenue can be supplimented with fb ads. So, bottomline. killa-app ideas that are not dependent on ad revenue, but have practical use that online users (individuals and companies) can pay for based on how many users install, i am thinkin, ringtone catalogs, stock market info/tips, news, bulk sms to fbusers with numbers etc ![]() |
it is sad and believable because some 4 years back, i had withdrawals of N5,000 from my account from three different persons in a single month, that i never authorized and never gave out a cheque for. found out in my statement 2 months later. i have given up trying to figure out how they faked GTB cheques then, but they did make withdrawals GTB is not ready to refund. I guess this is another dimension. just go through the headache and sit on some account officer or branch manager, because this kind of money is not something you joke with. |
Hello Nairalanders. Having taken into account the global credit crisis and the fact that crude now sells for $40 per barrel dollars down from $145, plus we know have far more corrupt politicians in the wings waiting for 2011. one has to creatively adapt to the economic hardship or simply fade with the masses I have come up with a money-spinning idea, publishing books for sale . I think it is an idea that will sell like bush-fire but i need your advice on whether I would be arrested when sales skyrocket.Fortunately the raw materials for coming up with the published content abounds thanks to the frequency with which every title covered occurs daily in Nigeria. Book Category: Fiction Book Type: HOWTO and Concise Guide Core Titles: 1: HOWTO: Successfully rob any Nigerian Bank 2: HOWTO: Evade EFCC Scrutiny (Money Laundering tips and tricks with full insider details) 3: HOWTO: Embezzle state funds legally (Politician Series) - could be split into PDP version and AD versions 4: HOWTO: Forming a robbery gang : Lagos, Abuja and Ibadan (on Special Request only Forming a robbery gang in Militant Zones) 5: HOWTO: Election Engineering the non-violent way (Inside tips on donations, decoy party formations, agenda-building and the all new Mirage Alliances Techniques) 6: HOWTO: Political Assassination (Politician Series) - Information gathering, insider-acquisition, target-profiling and post-assassination propaganda methods 7: Concise Guide: Beyond Late Retirement : Successful Careers in the Nigerian Civil Service 8: Concise Guide: Ultimate Money (Blood Money Series) - Contract Extensions in 2009 (Hot tips and certified occultists included) 9: Concise Guide: Prostituting in Lagos and Abuja - Maps to hot clubs, tennis clubs, boat clubs, restaurants, events and insider tips on embassy officials, senators, ministers and governors (insider expose on Lucky2K and Koro-ibo) 10: Concise Guide: Modern-day Evangelism in a saturated market (Sharp Christian Series - includes mini-guides on handkerchief miracles, guided-prophecies, spiritual sex etc) 11: Concise Guide: Becoming a successful yahoo, yahoo boy/girl (special abstracts on the new phenomenon YAHOO+) 12: Concise Guide: Governing a Nigerian State during an ethnic conflict/crisis (helpful tips from past governors and insight on past events) 13: Concise Guide: Successful Government Contracts in 2009 (lists of successful government contractors/sub-contractors/sub-sub-contractors) 14: Concise Guide: Ultimate Money II (Blood Money Series) - Inventory Management (AKA baby-napping) and Year-End donate-by-fatal-accident techniques) 15: Concise Guide: Importing Firearms via Nigeria-Cameroon border (previously unknown routes) 16: Concise Guide: Detecting SSS/Mossad/FBI/interpol agents in your area (special list of out-stations and agents briefing locations in Nigeria) |
2009 1: End Procastination by Fire, By Blood |
@Omni. it looks (on the surface) that the Punch website detects when it is being loaded via a frame and changes the frameset behavior to load parent _parent. which loads in the same window as the site where the load link request came form, so if you visited mynewsframe.com and clicked on punchng.com rather than load it in a frame on mynewsframe.com, it kicks it out and loads punchng.com so you will need to hit back button to get back to other newspaper sites. @yawa, I do not know Javascript, but if there is a script doing this. you could do something i call function over-riding. when a script is loaded it is in the browser's session (in memory) if you know the function, you can simply write your own script to load after the one on punchng.com loads and return a null pointer. so nothing happens and the page is still loaded in the frameset as you intended. the XSS thing was just efizzy |
etu smartsoft!! |
googled up this, could be useful, i simply lacked the courage to continue after the first few lines. http://ha.ckers.org/xss.html Should sniff out sniffers and I think its called Cross-Site Scripting ![]() |
@yawa, I never noticed your are female ![]() I always figured you for a bloke. your brain too much (my stereotypical self) 2009 is going to be competitive, for blokes like moi who can't tell between a female and a male web-designer. ![]() |
interesting poll. it would seem that the states with the most posts are 'characteristically' technology-aware and the orientation towards free-speech (online) is strong. Wonder if Governors of the states with little posts actually care about Technology penetration in their states, it could mean, little was spent on forging Internet cafes or computer education or even education. |
allow him naow, I am open-minded ohh. the last time i heard something like this from some dude at a cybercafe. i was thrilled naturally (imagine the potential, 2 websites per day @N100k) . as it turns out what he was doing was a print-screen from cool websites and simply hyperlinking images and rubbing of info he did not want. Wondas shall neva end for this we country. maybe he has a faster way of doing it |
Merry Christmas let me be the first to ask if anyone noticed that Lagos is chock-full with people on Christmas Eve, ![]() Anyway, a lot of Nigerians see this as a drama worthy of note. i think not. We all hoped the EFCC would be a new beginning or a better angle to fighting corruption, HOPE!!!, seeing that we totally ignored the fact that the 'Independent' ICPC setup to do this failed (still failing as a matter of routine). The EFCC had (still has) noble goals. yes Obasanjo used this to stick hot pins into those he could not deal with politically, so fu#$#ki@n what. is it okay to allow DSP Alams to use N4billion to build a fence for his State House? So he hounded Ibori (That bastard deserves to die in the hands of MEND). We all seem to think that because there was some bias in the execution of EFCC's mandate, it does makes the entire Office totally ALL BAD (We Nigerians have a slutty way of reasoning). Which would you prefer, Our blunt Justice System to punish corrupt officials who stole billions of Naira with a N3.5 million fine while babies died in hospitals because of an absent health care system.? or that EFFC was used to witch-hunt a corrupt bastard because of his political leaning. i prefer the latter. The Man Ribadu will be dead before the end of next year because the forces after him will only be satisfied with that outcome than anything else. Yes my pity goes to him, given the tools and the carte blanche access to every crook OBJ did not like, he did his Job with infuriating accuracy. What my question is, why are we hear spouting because we have time to, why are we not turning words into actions. the pool says 45 Nairalanders think what happened to Ribadu is wrong, what are you doing about it, yes, what?, I thought so NOTHING, absolutely nothing. yet we realise that every injustice and crooked justices affect us (in the present) and our children (in the future), I will tell it as it is. NIGERIANS ARE NOT WORTH FIGHTING OR DYING FOR, have governments not been toppled (in recent times) by the cries and actions of its people? yet we sit and complain all decade long. crying to God for a good leader as if we lived in the Isreal of yore. Abiola died because he calculated (wrongly) that the soooo called mass support he got nationwide and on the lips (as usual) of many Nigerians meant they would file out to protest (come hail, come bullets) to support his mandate. for where. what about Tai Solarin? what about Soyinka (he has grown weary since the cause he fights for has no rebel) what about Gani. NIGERIANS ARE THE PROBLEMS OF THIS COUNTRY, simply sit watch and talk out of boredom. |
God Exists (True) but i seriously doubt he'd get a VISA to Nigeria, its soooo over-crowded with an ever-growing band of Glitter Pastors with Occultic roots who are only interested in spinning Brian Tracy-styled preaching salted with a little Bible talk to a dis-enchanted mass of Nigerians trying to escape from economic and mental (Nigeria is unbelievable) hardship and spiritual torment from the same agents of demonica that fill the stadium and camp grounds they think they'll get succor from, let's face it. Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a reproach to any people. A 2005 estimates puts Christians at 40% of the country's population at 141 million (that makes 56,400,000) Let us assume that 10% (5,640,000) are actually God-fearing Christians who sincerely pray for Nigeria to see the light (I am just saying). You mean to tell me that 10% of God-fearing Nigerians cannot draw God's attention to our plight, Chei!! The fact is I am sure if God was to land GBOAH!!! today, he would not find up to 1% of God-fearing Nigerians. I Swear, ![]() We are simply a Sinful people who have surpassed the abominations of Sodom and Gomorrah. |
![]() Do not ever try to play with my Naija Intelligence you should have just said that your company won soooo many awards you have no choice but to itch your crotch and bring this to nairaland. I am so pissed i tried to educate you about your topic when you already knew where you were headed with this, abeg no try am again. i just wasted hours i should have used to tidy up work that will get me christmas pay, haba why ![]() http://www.alexa.com/data/details/main/livebeats.net What is your email address doing there, ehh ![]() |
@danladi do not get us wrong, we are not saying that any web agency (especially an Nigerian Web Agency in the UK) does not own the "jungle' rights to step in a different direction and proactively host and award at the same time. It is good to be recognized by others in your field. that is what builds experience and skills. "A landscape for competition" What I am saying is that 1: The Awards do not indicate that a clear 'Business Case' was drawn up to demonstrate benefits, rules for measurement, rewards and how it is supposed to ginger-up Web Designers (Nigerian ones who are in dire need of International Experience). It just gives awards, no report on how it came about the ratings 2: Clearly demonstrates lack of transparency by not accepting votes online but offline and in-house without a table of metric used 3: It feels like a slap in the face when you get the Best Designer of the Year 2007 (for naija) and the Most Recognized Designer of the Year 2008 (for Naija) based on a portfolio that will not make top 100 on the UK Best Website Awards List (IMHO). 4: I have take the time (like i no get work) to critically look at the categorization and noticed a lack of focus (not a good quality if you are a web designer) 5: I also noticed a good sprinkle of LiveBeats and GOBBLEABBA on various award sheets as well as sites GOBBLEABBA has been involved with (especially onlinenigeria.com subsites) http://www.nwa.gobbleabba.com/community%20nominees.html BEST COMMUNITY WEBSITE | Nairaland is tops BEST SEARCH SITE | Google Nigeria beats any Nigerian search site BEST FUN AND GAME WEBSITE | what do you mean here, what exactly cos i checked out the sites listed BEST NON PROFIT WEBSITE | NGO or sites that do not ask you to pay which one. cos Nairaland was listed in both Commercial and Non-Profit MOST POPULAR COMMUNITY WEBSITE |Nairaland 'fcourse BEST PUBLIC NEWS WEBSITE | I do not understand, public news??/ BEST DESIGN COMMUNITY WEBSITE | at this stage i am mentally drained looking at the list http://www.nwa.gobbleabba.com/comercial%20noBEST REAL ESTATE WEBSITEminees.html BEST ISP & TELECOM WEBSITE | You mean MTN and GLO have made all Nigerian ISPs vanish BEST CAREER WEBSITE | Jidaw is a listing not a career site BEST REAL ESTATE WEBSITE | hmmm BEST BANKING WEBSITE | I will not say much but this ranking reeks BEST SHOPPING WEBSITE |Cool Gadgets just shows the dishonesty of this awards BEST AUTOMOTIVE WEBSITE | hmmmm BEST COMMERCIAL FORUM | Nairaland dey there? BEST TRAVEL WEBSITE | hmmmm http://www.nwa.gobbleabba.com/entertainment%20nominees.html BEST SPORT WEBSITE |Hmmmm BEST ENTERTAINMENT WEBSITE | f'course your livebeats go dey there BEST RADIO WEBSITE : still there BEST TV WEBSITE :| and still there MOST IMPRESSIVE NAVIGATION | WTF is this, should this not be a metric u use to measure who gets the awards in MOST INTERACTIVE WEBSITE? MOST POPULAR ENTERTAINMENT WEBSITE | Hits, Awards, what exactly BEST INTERACTIVE SITE | How do you measure interactivity, BEST VIDEO STREAMING SITE | what is this, again, why does this category exists , to what purpose does it serve http://www.nwa.gobbleabba.com/individual%20nominees.html HONORARY AWARD NOMINEES | our very own Seun is there, why not Gbenga Obasanjo or Gbenga Sesan how did they arrive at this list MOST IMPRESSIVE FREELANCER | how on earth among sooo many great freelancers in lagos alone MOST IMPRESSIVE WEBSITE DESIGNS | at this stage I am feeling pissed i actually tried to exlain this to you |
A full code would ave help but here goes, "class" attribute must be the first (or only) attribute of the "span" element. "span" tag and "class" attribute must be separated by a single space. "class" must be enclosed within double quotes. "span" tag and "class" attribute must be in lower case. |
and how does this win the best web designer award in nigeria http://www.livebeats.net/nmva.html Awards received - scroll down to avoid the other unbelievable gist http://www.whichwebdesigncompany.com/uk/profile/gobbleabba |
1: The Owner of Gobble Abba has stumbled on a common phenomena. There is enough meat for two when there's only one lion in a field with thousands of antelopes. They must have figured Philips Consulting was getting all the street creds with the WebJurist awards, He wants in on it probably to promote his business http://www.gobbleabba.com/clients.html does not even give urls to the sites he has produced so we can review them 2: In his near-infinite Wisdom (Ignoring the rated sites on NIT) how come First Bank is on the list, where did she sneak in from http://www.firstbanknigeria.com/ most sites being criticized on NL even work better than First Bank's website 3: Mr. Wale Abba's strategy is flawed in the sense that he did not raise enough street cred for his business to actually become a recognizable brand in the UK web Industry, mention Tavia anywhere in Lagos and you will get this lip-bitten look (yes they have tried) of recognition. Until he can explain why http://www.coolng.com/ got a rating. IMHO i think the awards are a preparation ground for a big scam for dubious web design scam artists, just my Honest Opinion |
I must say i disagree with some aspects of the ratings, but its all good, one of my sites also won an award and got good rankings who am i to complain when s@#@t looks good |
Shock-Horror Dora is a woman of strong stuff (than Gin and Sepe). I think she'll bring the needed life to a ministry that thinks it is traditional to scrimp on their budget so it can be shared at the end of the year. ![]() |

@Naijex Childish and StupidYes to you it does look that way because you did not care (do not care) to know that in those parts throwing shoes/slippers at someone demonstrates your contempt for them. it is a very strong way to deliver an insult. (it has nothing to do with Childishness or stupidity) @cold This still boils down to what i'v bin saying all along. There's no such thing as a moderate muslim. The average muslim has more violence in him than the average non muslim.Wash a pig, comb a pig it will still remain what it is.So the Area boys who rape and steal at the slightest provocation are violent, or the christians who murdered and plundered in the crusades for property and land are not violent, how come American Muslims do not demonstrate such violence or the Sauds or the ones who are your own friends. Youmay not be violent physically but you have just assaulted Muslims everywhere by referring to them as Pigs (Forbidden in Islam). gather your thoughts before you speak the nonsense you just posted @Revenge Iraq are all fools okAll Nigerians are cowards, 419ners, fools who do not know how to use oil wealth. how does that simple line remind you of yourself |
Well, i am guilty of saying what i feel rather than what must be said (having considered all sides of the issue). but you must understand that in a web world as this forum. 'some people' (most people) become characters they can't manifest in public and everything (bottled up) starts flowing like a river through a crack in a dam. it becomes seemingly controlled (uncontrolled) and messy and fast. Comments are made within seconds without a care in the world. and re-commented hours later when the thread achieves some maturity due to the number of comments posted (that exposes more sides to the original post). It is an evolutionary process on Nairaland, so no vex, people just evolve comments as the thread expands, you make better comments with more information |
that was quick, the domain has been disabled, i think the webhosting company has also effected the necessary changes to save Naijans from the yahoo+ boys ![]() |
The truth of the matter is there is one nairalander who hosts (confirmed) and designs (i-hear-say) fake websites for 419ners I won't post his id here but will get a list of confirmed fake banks sites and post here. you can do a whois and determine if the guy unknowingly hosts/designs fake bank sites or is a professional fake website designer |
