Gentle soul:
It's only in the imagination of those printing medias writing rubbish that Lagosians are losing interest in ACN. The election results have been announced and ACN has clear lead in all the local governments
Really, The only media house confirming your claims is TV Continental. as of 3AM this morning heavily armed men stormed the ETI-OSA Council demanding to carry away the Ballot Boxes.

LASIEC have not announced any results for your kind information. Only TV Continental continues to broadcast results that have not been counted and winners declared. It is unfortunate that people live/feed/die on deception. 8 years after and all inner roads in Ikoyi have not been fixed, yet Wale Adeniji feels he must be re-elected to continue in non-performance. It is time we put aside our Party differences and tell the truth to save the masses on whose Goodwill our corrupt leaders live.

Give it up, it is impossible for a Social Revolution to happen in Nigeria, we will sooner die from regional, political, ethnic and religious conflicts than being saved by a revolution.

One can vote on self-recognition. Nothing wrong in a national figure voting without his voters card provided his name is on the list of registered voters. I would be suprised if anyone says they don't know or recognise  Tinubu. huh
Is that the sort of example a National Figure should be showing to the masses who unfortunately are so dis-franchised that a word from a bad leader is enough to throw them into a frenzy of violence. Up till 3AM Last Night we waited at ETI-OSA Council where LAISEC Officials refused to appear at their duty post after abandoning it after Saturday's election without declaring the results. Heavily armed men purportedly from the SSS stormed the venue demanding to leave with the ballot boxes. I have never known the SSS to take away voting evidence for whatever reason. The LAW if the LAW whether he is Tinubu or Obama. Stop giving reason for doing wrong.

Uptill now only TV Continental are declaring winners of the recent polls when no other media house has received results.
The TV station should be probed for deceiving the public and causing a security situation by declaring fake results.

I am presently at ETI-OSA Council where ACN roundly lost several Council positions to PDP, Wale Adeniji fighting to be re-elected after 8 years of poor performance. lost to Babajide Obanikoro as of counting poll results yesterday night. the LAISEC Officials did the usual by running away rather than declaring the results and proclaiming the winner. this morning TVC (owned by Tinubu) annouces that Wale Adeniji won the Chairmanship for ETI-OSA LG, how can ACN loose Council positions and win the Chairmanship - did their voters love the incumbent ACN Chairman and hate the ACN Councillors -  shocked Why has Politics in Nigeria got to be about Cheating, Killing and Lying. We stand firm on yesterdays results and will not be moved by the failure and incompetence of LAISEC.

A policeman was arrested last night -thumb-printing ballot papers- an office in the ETI_OSA council and a council man was arrested for burying Ballot papers into a dug hole inside the office.

Politics is not about Political Parties but about the Right Leader ACN or PDP.  angry

I think it is sad, irresponsible and outrightly insane that our security agencies never give us statistics and advice on crime rates in different areas f Nigeria.

If every region of a city has a crime rating and advice on what times people should be on the road or in their houses, at least citiziens will show some alertness and caution on the road.

A close friend's car (MONTERO) was snatched at gun-point along in July 2005 on the connecting Lagos Island/Ijora over-pass coming from Ikoyi. It was around 10:30PM and he noticed a mercedes car had broken down and four girls stood by it with the bonnet opened. He stopped and offered to help tow the car to a safe location and give the girls a ride home. they claimed they live in Alaka Estate. as soon as he prepared his tow cable. one of them pointed a gun at him and ordered hm into his car while the others followed closely behind. They drove instead to Boundary bustop-Ajegunle picked up two guys sped off to Apapa where he was pushed out around Coconut bustop at about 1:30 AM. He told them where the security features where and how to disarm it. His long trek back to safety saw him pick-up by the Police patrol and locked in a cell for wandering. he had no ID and No phone, all his explanations fell on deaf ears until the next morning when he was allowed to Flash his girl-friend who now came to identify him and bail him out. they later took his report and apologized as they were only being careful. He passed at least 4 Police checkpoints that night and could not do anything about it, all they did was laugh with the driver and asked to be rojad something for the night

His montero was found 3 weeks later at Ajamgbadi express way, vandalized. apparently the engine knocked. for 3 weeks the robbers used his jeep without changing the plate number of color and the police did not recover it.

If the public is given data on crime rates everyday, perhaps someone would have noticed and raised an alarm

There are several un-documented cases of police brutality and violence on citizens. extra-judicial killings that become public knowledge eventually hit the court and a Police Tribunal is setup to handle a Civil Crime - only in Nigeria. just as a Crime punishable and provided for by the Constitution of Nigeria is handled by a Sharia court. I'm positive that i have not warped your posts neither have i made a confused interpretation of it. You said - @OP. I think it is becoming worrisome that Religious folks will dedicate so much energy discussing atheism and its qualities in the most purile manner.

This is quite a senseless statement . . . for the very simple fact that the title of the section reads - RELIGION. Now what is an atheist like you doing here?
Majority of the threads that have devolved to theism vs atheism "debates" were largely started desiring input from christians ONLY. A very good example is the "testimonies only" thread which had to be actively cleaned up by the mods here after it was invaded by atheists who then turn around to shed crocodile tears about theists expending energy on atheists? Really?
You must have me confused with one of your numerous atheists friends - Please tell (I am a novice) what is Religion about - really?

Enigma:
But are you not indirectly saying that you accept what the Bible says - at least about the death and resurrection of Jesus?

PS: mind, the curtain was ripped in half upon the death of Jesus not after his resurrection in fact, according to Bible
It has been a long while since i last re-read the bible - I stand corrected. the point is Salvation is Free for the asking, It is suspect when some MOG says he forgives you on God's behalf or actually does it himself. I have issues with that. Law and Grace are 2 different eras, some Christians mix and match OT Law and NT Grace to suit ends that are suspect. fortunately I don't believe anything I hear until i have the opportunity to know it for myself.

So you seek a heightened state of awareness from the religion section? No issues with that.

If you already regard something as a misconception, how can you have ‘un-distilled facts’? Is the conclusion of misconception not the product of a distillation process of some sort?
Let me give you an example - I believe that the symbolic event of the curtain in the temple ripped in half after the resurrection means that the Holy Spirit or God's essence is freed upon humanity - no longer to be dished out piece-meal by anointed men of God, but to be accessed individually by everyone. some groups claim that you cannot ask for forgiveness from God by yourself but must do so through an intercessor who is as human as you and in some cases, less morally upstanding than you. (an ill-conceived misconception from not having all the facts). call me a doubting thomas. i must see to believe however it does not mean I do not keep an open mind.

What is this 'interest' in religion? Is it an interest to prove it is all a sham for example or just an interest to learn about what they think?
Neither. I do not feel the need to or have the zeal to preach or evangelize or prove holy men as shambolic liars. I do not also care for what they think (to each his own). It is apparent that Spirituality and Non-Spirituality is a niggling phenomenon to both the Science and Religious community, try as much neither has all the answers though one group claims it does with all certainty; which is why we are here aren't we? to try to fill in the gaps in understanding, correct the misconceptions and hopefully leave this beer-pa-lour in a more heightened state of awareness than we did before we sat down.

The truth is one should have an idea or have un-distilled facts regarding Spirituality - I prefer this term (spirituality) to religion which connotes ceremonies, dogma and mostly trado-societal misconceptions of true spirituality that in recent times have been responsible for dire states of moral despondency in religious leaders and religious Nigerians of today. It is clear that many religions draw similarities in precepts but always deny the glaringly obvious. the important thing is to learn about ourselves as individuals and how we contribute to the benefit of others by living an exemplary life devoid of Hate, Greed, Selfishness, Ignorance, Intolerance, Violence and Death. Evidently gods of various religion rank LOVE for man and humanity highest. The only way understand this mystery is by studying the Holy books. Thankfully most men are born with the cynicism gene. we can tell a fat lie from a veiled truth. (Scriptural Error and Scriptural Truth) and @frosbel more than most understand this. grin I am in it simply because I do not wish to be lied to about life - after all we only live once.

I disagree only as far as same sex bars go grin I speak for myself when I say I am not Religious but have interests in Religion (does that make me a believer)- same as a Christian cannot discount science simply because he has Faith. (Religious Christians can though.)

Why not ask the question "Why Do Atheists Come to Religion Section?".
