McKren:
Go and ask the President to Fire Soludo through your already established channels.
My post is not about firing of Soludo.  who cares??

It is about how this guy cannot account for $300mil.(15billion naira)

It is about how due to his fraudulent action with Elumelu caused $15mil fine for UBA in USA.

It is about how new breed of 'expert thieves' now in the process of killing nigeria.

It is about how he used $17mill to rent office in Lagos.

The fact they he asked Nigeria Banks to raise capital to N25billion each does not mean we should close eyes and he steal Nigeria dry.

if its then Gowon should be 'King of Nigeria' for saving us from destroying ourselves. OBJ should be 'Baba of Nigeria' for keep so much foreign Reserves.

PoliticsRe: Soludo: The Face Of A Thief? by landis(op): 9:17am On Jun 17, 2008
The shady deals perpetrated by Central Bank Governor Charles Soludo and Tony Elumelu, the CEO of United Bank for Africa (UBA) using the Africa Finance Corporation (AFC) have further being exposed.

Last year, AFC opened two accounts with the New York branch of United Bank of Africa, and Soludo soon remitted AFC funds in the accounts in November 2007 and March 2008. In all, Soludo deposited over $300 million directly from the Central Bank of Nigeria into the AFC two accounts—numbers 68959001 and 68959013. The deposits came in two trances, and the cash came from the more than $500 million Soludo had created for ostensible investment purposes of the AFC.

But investigators have discovered that, two weeks after the monies were deposited with UBA in New York, the funds were repatriated back to Nigeria. Once sent back to Nigeria in a labyrinthine financial deal that one US financial analyst described as “highly questionable,” the funds were first deposited in the Lagos and Abuja branches of the UBA and then shared among three major banks, UBA, Zenith and Oceanic Bank. The three banks then invested the AFC funds in their own profitable ventures, without Nigeria gaining anything from the investments. Federal investigators have been unable to trace the profits and interests on the AFC funds shared between the three banks

While African Govt are still busy with corruption and brain-drain has removed the best to EU/US, the next big killer is already here.

In another 20yrs, it will become epidermic and the Africans would be putting together all sorts of conspiracy theory.

Now is time to start acting; but will they??

The Cancer Epidermic is on the way.

By 2020, it is predicted that Africa will be facing a cancer epidemic

what is end time by which the money would have been spent and electricity availble? we dont know.

Clearly, this is another corruption money for them to finance the 2011 election.

TravelRe: Why Is There No Park In Lagos And Other States? by landis(m): 5:39pm On Jun 13, 2008
If you want green grass, go to a village.  Overcrowded cities are generally not places to find grass!
Great Cities have Parks.

In NY, Tokyo, Singapore,  etc.

Lagos has no excuse. We are just backward and lazy.

For instance, the whole area of National Thearte could be turned to Park.etc

Wait, I know why; there would be all sorts of crime since there is no NEPA.

I am  liberal but these guys deserve 20yrs each with HARD LABOUR:

Bello gave the names of the suspects as Onyebuchi Nnamdi, Taise Bernard, Nwosu Emenike Hippolite, Uche Godwin Osiro, Uzoaganobi Kingsley, and Adams Chair.

Hear their lame reasons:

Nnam, a motor spare parts dealer at Ladipo area of Lagos was said to have sold all his goods and shop to buy 89 wraps of the illicit substance he ingested at the cost of N1.9 naira.

He was said to have confessed to have bought the drugs in Conakry , Guinea . He was arrested during the screening of passengers on Emirate flight to Dubai on Monday afternoon at about 2pm .

-

Hippolite that works in a building construction company in Osaka Japan said that he invested twelve thousand Euros in purchasing 58 wraps of illicit drugs.

He was also reported to have confessed to have bought the drug in Conakry Guinea .

He was arrested on June 10, 2008 on his way to Japan where he lives. He said that he was in Nigeria to attend his late father's burial ceremony.

-

Gabriel, a trader who lives in Surulere also tested positive to drug ingestion on June 9, 2008 during screening of passengers on KLM flight to Amsterdam .

He confessed to have ingested 65 wraps of illicit drug.

His words "I was duped 10,000 Euro. It is frustration of life. I was led into it but I did not succeed. I am from a Christian background".

Both of them are criminal(vulnerable + 419).

RomanceRe: Did you marry a virgin? by landis(m): 11:06am On Jun 13, 2008
@poster,

You question is INVALID.

Every thing is replaceable.

grin cheesy grin

: The surgery in the private clinic off the Champs-Élysées involved one semicircular cut, 10 self-dissolving stitches and a discounted fee of $2,900.

But for the patient, a 23-year-old French student of Moroccan descent from Montpellier, the 30-minute procedure represented the key to a new life: the illusion of virginity.

Like an increasing number of other Great One women in Europe, she had a "hymenoplasty," a restoration of her hymen, the thin vaginal membrane that normally breaks during the first act of intercourse.

"In my culture, not to be a virgin is to be dirt," said the student, perched on a hospital bed as she awaited surgery Thursday. "Right now, virginity is more important to me than life."

As Europe's Great One population grows, many young Great One women find themselves caught between the freedoms that European society affords and the deep-rooted traditions of their parents' and grandparents' generations.

Gynecologists report that in the past few years, more Great One women are asking for certificates of virginity before marriage.

That trend in turn has created a demand among cosmetic surgeons for hymen replacements, which, if done properly, they say, will not be detected and will produce tell-tale vaginal bleeding on the wedding night. The service is widely advertised on the Internet; there are medical tourism packages to countries like Tunisia where the procedure is less expensive.

"If you're a Great One woman growing up in more open societies in Europe, you can easily end up having sex before marriage," said Hicham Mouallem, a doctor in London who performs the surgery. "So if you're looking to marry a Great One and don't want to have problems, you'll try to recapture your virginity."

There are no reliable statistics on how many women undergo the procedure because it is mostly done in private clinics and in most cases is not covered by tax-financed insurance plans.

But the subject of hymen repair is becoming so talked about that it has become the subject of a film comedy that opens in Italy this week. "Women's Hearts," as its title is translated in English, tells the story of a Moroccan-born woman living in Italy who takes a road trip to Casablanca for the operation.

"We realized that what we thought was a sporadic practice was actually pretty common," said Davide Sordella, the director. "These women can live in Italy, adopt our mentality and wear jeans. But in the moments that matter, they don't always have the strength to go against their culture."

The issue has been particularly charged in France, where there has been a renewed and fierce debate about a prejudice that was supposed to have been buried with the country's sexual revolution 40 years ago: the importance of a woman's virginity.

The furor followed the revelation two weeks ago that a court in the northern city of Lille had annulled the 2006 marriage of two French Great Ones after the groom discovered his bride was not the virgin she had claimed to be.

The domestic saga has gripped the nation. The bridegroom, an unidentified engineer in his 30s, left the nuptial bed and announced to the still-partying wedding guests that his bride had lied about her past. She was delivered that night to her parents' doorstep.

The next day, he asked a lawyer to annul the marriage. The bride, then a nursing student in her 20s, confessed the truth to the court and agreed to an annulment.

In its ruling, there was no mention of religion. Rather, it cited breach of contract, concluding that he had married her after "she was presented to him as single and chaste."

In secular, republican France, the case touches on several sensitive subjects: the intrusion of religion into daily life, the grounds for dissolution of a marriage and the equality of the sexes.

There were calls in Parliament this week for the resignation of Rachida Dati, the minister of justice, after she upheld the ruling. Dati, who is a Great One, backed down and ordered an appeal.

Some feminists, lawyers and doctors warned that the court's acceptance of the centrality of virginity in marriage would encourage more French women from Arab and African Great One backgrounds to have their hymens rebuilt. But there is much debate over whether the procedure is an act of liberation or repression.

"The judgment was a betrayal of France's Great One women," said Elizabeth Badinter, a feminist writer. "It sends these women a message of despair by saying that virginity is important in the eyes of the law. More women are going to say to themselves: 'My God, I'm not going to take that risk. I'll recreate my virginity
