Let’s just call it govt taking extraordinary measures to reduce fuel price by paying the differential with monies that could’ve been invested in other sectors. But it’s not subsidies. ![]() |
## Policy Recommendations for Immediate Implementation in Nigeria 1. **Legislative Compensation Reform** - Enact legislation to cap allowances for lawmakers and politicians at a maximum of 50% of their base salaries. For instance, if a politician earns NGN 1,000,000 per month, their allowances should not exceed NGN 500,000. 2. **Government Restructuring** - Initiate a constitutional amendment to reduce the size of the federal government. This includes revising the requirement for representation of all 36 states in the federal cabinet. The goal is to streamline ministries and eliminate unnecessary political appointments. Redirect the savings from this restructuring towards investments in the agricultural sector. 3. **Agricultural and Food Security Initiatives** - Launch an immediate program to address food shortages and mitigate the effects of subsidy removal on agriculture and livestock. Prioritize policies and actions that ensure food security for all Nigerians. 4. **Decentralization of Resource Allocation** - Begin an urgent review of resource allocation frameworks, as well as the exclusive, residual, and concurrent legislative lists. This review should aim to increase the autonomy and financial independence of state and local governments, thereby reducing the concentration of power and resources at the federal level. 5. **Federal Support for Agricultural Investment** - Encourage investment in farming and agriculture across all levels of government by providing federal matching funds to complement state and local government initiatives. This policy aims to bolster agricultural productivity and ensure food security for the Nigerian populace. These are the ones that come to my mind. |
Johnnyjohnnyman:I will tell you one thing. Whatever you are going through right now, or that you will be going through in the coming months, your wife is going to have it in multiple folds (unless she’s a truly pathetic psychopath). How you handle this situation could make you or break you, would definitely break her, and could cause permanent damage to the innocent child and your kids. In the interest of your kids, and the innocent child, please handle this with grace, love, and compassion. You can seek a separation or a divorce, but don’t scar the kids emotionally. Sit with her, lay out your decision and plans for you, her, your kids and the innocent child. So help you God, brother. . |
Because your president is drinking kunu and waiting for the end of his vacation in Aso Rock, not managing the economy. |
postbox:9% interest rate after 30% down payment? That’s a terrible idea. I’d rather invest the 30% in a land, and remit the monthly payment for development of the house. The value of mortgage is that you get to live in a house while you make payments towards owning it. But how is this a value if you’re in the diaspora? I’d recommend an income and down payment-driven interest rate with the lowest pegged at 2% and enough flexibilities. For example a flexibility to rent out the property. |
lastmanstandn:Nigeria’s decline will continue until someone somewhere raises hell and the youth joins in, and a noon-artificial result button is pushed. You build democracy from ground up not the other way round. |
What a naive statement. Suspend the constitution and put democracy on hold while constituting a new system using a group that has corrupted the system for many years. How’s this going to deliver different results? Trash this statement and try again sir. |
If you can open a pharmacy with that amount, do so. Plan your travel as you implement your business plan but lag your travel plans by maybe a year or two. See how your business thrives or otherwise. Make a decision then, you may end up accomplishing both. Who knows? ROI from travel is definitely not instant, and 2m may not even get you your residency. Travel is great, but the ROI may take 1 - 5 years depending on how ready you are. |
Listen you’d blame yourself later if you do not take him for the proper assessments. In fact there’s a whole Medicaid system dedicated to providing help. It is called The Early and Periodic Screening, Diagnostic, and Treatment (EPSDT) and it is a state and federally funded insurance plan that provides comprehensive and preventive health care services for children who are enrolled in Medicaid. Medicaid enrollment for kids is almost free under the Medicaid HCBS waiver. Thank me later. |
Hey please tell me why you should eat a snake? I really don’t understand, amongst all the type of meat, fish, plant, grains and whatever, so why would you want to eat a snake? Dang. |
Anny505:They look trained. That’s why I said ‘disrupt’ and not necessarily arrest them. A gun fire exchange with the right fire superiority techniques (volume {SAW} + accuracy) coordinated to the gangs center of gravity COG (the van with the most gun men) can wreck a quick havoc. |
A well trained police unit of 5 men (with a two-man SAW team) would’ve disrupted (gave them heavy fire) this operation without getting anyone in the team killed. These guys are completely spread thin and I see no heavy machine gun in their gang. |
I will not be surprised if it is revealed in the future that someone with the NFF got paid by agents affiliated with Napoli. |
Ban women from driving as done in Saudi Arabia, even though you are unable to provide essential necessities to lift your people out of poverty as done by the government of Saudi. Nigerian politicians again thinking backward, spending money they don't have to copy the things other societies are trying to get away from. |
lastmanstandn:It is based in archaic principles, policies and procedures. It is not futuristic at all, and lacks any pathway for technology-based security posture. It is one of those poor projects created with good intentions but based on good-old-days village-vigilante mentally. |
I think I’m going to write an article on why the SW security structure is fundamentally flawed. |
Omoluabi9:Not dormant. Just operate your business using the foreign currency as your default operating currency. |
Whatever you do. Do not convert your savings to Naira when it gets to Nigeria. Keep it in your domiciliary account. Rather convert your investment yields to the currency of the place you reside. Learned this the hard way. |
And you wonder why and how Nigeria is cursed?. |
Because the work of God is a full time job abi? |
Do they know they don’t have to paint every building or structure the official colors of the agency. Jeez. Ugly. |
Anuoluwa1234:It is not in human nature to be fraudulent or to be criminal. If that is the case, every Nigerian will have a criminal nature from birth. Criminality is a result of environmental factors that shape the growth, knowledge and biases of many Nigerians and that can be resolved through public policies. Trust me, and have some faith in your people. |
Who’s this man again? |
Verbal or written comments of a sexual nature,Terms of endearment, such as calling a co-worker “honey,” “dear,” “sweetheart,” or some similar expression could be sexual harassment. (The effect is the primary issue rather than intent. Even if the person “means nothing to you” or you have “used the term for years” you should be aware that such expressions are inappropriate.) YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR WHAT COMES OUT OF YOUR MOUTH. IT IS NEVER THE FAULT OF THE LISTENER BECAUSE THEY CANT LISTEN TO YOUR INTENT. |
Hhansome:Why? If i may ask People dont need d*ck to speak |
Scheming. |
The greatest threat to democracy in any society (advanced or developing) is tampering or obstruction of judicial processes. The America society is what it is today because of landmark judgements and excellent delineation of the judicial branch as absolutely independent from other branches of government. Nigeria still has a long way to go, but judgements like this, take the country one step closer. |

As a director in a state’s public service in the United States, the decision to leave Nigeria is my best ever. |
I stand with Tunde |
The failure of DICON is a direct consequence of the lack of growth in the domestic law enforcement apparatuses. Defense industries are supposed to be capable of generating a large chunk of their expenditures from sales of what they produce. Domestic police units are supposed to spend at such industries. Internal markets are large enough to fund Nigeria’s defense industries. 36 States with budgets of over 10b annually for security spending, out of which a large chunk goes to imports of equipment and gear, will go along way. However because this is a mumu government, with lots of smart and brilliant folks without the political will to disrupt the status quo, nothing go happen. Same old complains. |
Okay I support PMB but he (and his position) is looking very ceremonial to me. The legislature is looking even more so than the presidency. |
