Check out www.africanwatch.net for lastest international Scholarships for Nigerians, and keep tabs with latest happenings in Africa
Slow down please!
While l agree with most of what you posted up there.... but you are still MISSING THE ELEPHANT IN THE ROOM.

You need to separate ABIOLA as a PERSON, ... from the Annulled ELECTORAL PROCESS.

First, let me say the Holiday was not to commemorate biola as a Hero! No way!!

This is what the Holiday (or Sober Reflections, as l would call it, is all about).

*Nigerians for the first time, went through an electoral process that was "relatively considered" Free and Fair!

*Nigerians for the first time, Voted not along the "usual" Tribal and Religious lines but for someone they believed in

*Nigerians for the first time, felt that their Desire and Vote, was RESPECTED!

*Also, a lot of innocent Nigerians, put their lives on the line....and died for that "cause"

Unfortunately, Babangida dribbled Nigerians and TRUNCATED the WISH OF THE PEOPLE.
Unfortunately, Babangida and Abacha, with their "Cabals" killed the persona of the wish of "MAJORITY" of Nigerians.

It still does not take away from the Joy and Satisfaction that Nigerians felt, during and "immediately after" that election.

That Election was a turning point in our Electoral Process and the last Election was a fall-out of this, as we "progressed and inched forward" towards a better Democracy.

Though the "persona" of that election was Abiola but the "reason d'etre" of the "Celebration/Reflection" was the PROCESS that we went through and SACRIFICE with BLOOD and LIFE, that was PAID!

The above, is what we are commemorating.
Not Abiola as a person.

Cheers.

UnknownT:
Meeting with Buhari was slated for 9am, the inaugural sitting started by after 10am, what was Buhari doing between 9-10? And we were told he once locked out an ambassador for coming to a dinner 15minutes late. When he saw that Saraki and others have started sitting, why didn't he call and tell the members waiting for him the latest?

Even the APC Members that were waiting "Foolishly" for Buhari, don't they have aides or family members that would have called them to tell them that the sitting has commenced since it was televised live? It was only after Saraki had won, they now "Heard " and rushed down to the assembly complex. Liars everywhere
Until we get the EXACT events chronicled properly, l will go by the little explanation we have.

If l do that, l can only come to one reasonable conclusion: That Buhari planned this himself.
If that is TRUE, then it is unbecoming of him.

But then, l think Buhari has more "dignity and integrity" than to play his own men this way.

On the other hand, why did Saraki, an APC man, not heed the call of his Party Leaders? Selfishness? Ambition" "Pre-Arranged"?

Was the normal QUORUM formed in the house for this internal election, if 51 elected Senators where not present?
I hope so or else "Gbegen" go happen o!

Time will tell.

Okay guys, l got to go.
Erico and the rest, it was nice chatting with you guys.
Dont take everything "too serious".

We are still Brothers and yabbing ourselves like this, is part of it. It does not and SHOULD NOT translate to hatred.

IMO, l think it will get to a point when no one will want to leave a "United Nigeria".
This will happen when the idea that "one tribe depends on others" completely debunked!

Next, the ones who want out will realize that it is foolishness and that they are actually better-off staying with the "Devils" that they know.

Just like it happened in Scotland, recently. wink

The way to go is to elect the right people, irrespective of their tribe or religion and to ensure we support zero-tolerance for corruption, it is our biggest problem.

Cheers Brothers.

When I hear some peeps call them selves sophisticated, and I read their comments with their high level of ignorance,I wonder where and how the sophistication came about.......I won't assume that many of them are kids but I believe they should be above 25........when one dude says that the ondo state has more oil than the whole south east,I shudder.......am not surprised though....Nigerians believed þhat they where they giants of africa until they went to south africa.....no need explaning stuffs to them.....its best they still wallow in their sophisticated ignorance......it won't do any harm if they travel out of the SW.....lagos isn't Nigeria......as they say...
There you go again!
You want to join the conversation by all means and dont know what to say, right? Okay, you are welcome.

Having said that, "Sophistication" is not about travelling all over the place carrying drugs or selling fake, sub-standard goods or leaving your own land barren and unoccupied or boasting and acting without thinking FIRST!

Get this once and for all: The Sophistication we talk about is a Group of people who have evolved above primordial tendencies commonly found in lower animals.
This evolution is reflected in their "Decision-making and thought process", in general terms
.

*We have given the example of how Awolowo "checkmated" the Robbery of Benin CBN by Biafran robbers and collapsed their economy, not to mention how he ended the war "quickly" using sheer wit.
*We have mentioned somewhere else how Yorubas have been able to inter-marry amongst other tribes, showing that they have evolved beyond the level of "our tribe".
*We have seen how Lagos is the most Accommodating and Peaceful state in Nigeria, irrespective of where you come from, something you will only find in sophisticated economies of the Western world.
*We have seen what happened in the last election and how the Yorubas have quietly gone about achieving their aim, despite that Jonathan was an "incumbent" and the Ibos were too busy chest-beating and doing gra-gra!
*We have seen how over and over again, Yorubas have chosen "Peace and use of "Native Intellect", (something Ibos erroneously call "cowardice"wink to achieve their set-objective while Ibos are always baying for war, to achieve even the simplest things.

Now, l am speaking in "general terms" thus l am not ruling out the "odd-ball" from other tribes who can also get sophisticated probably due to exposure to Yoruba culture/Environment but they are in so "small and scanty" quantity.

I dont know how l can break it down for you, lower than this.

And FYI, it is not a "boastful thing", it is stating observed facts, not in nayway intended to put others down.
Even the Ibos l grew up knowing, were so scared of taking-on the Ijebus, as they fear their level of acumen. Just try and cheat an Ijebu person in business and see if you can get away with it wink wink
That is "sophistication", my friend! grin

The fakes are sold by the "Pakis" mostly..... and you would get it for less than half price. Its your choice to buy from them.

Will Vodafone do same, Will BT sell same to you ?

Sorry Bros, where is "Oloibiri" located? Was it in Ibo land?
That was the only place where the Oil was, back then.

Are you also aware that Biafra was not looking for support in Benin kingdom?

They killed so many in Benin town, burnt the place down and LOOTED the CBN in Benin, stealing all the cash there!.
That is not how to get "support".... or when did "support" become BY FORCE, HOOK or CROOK? huh huh

That Robbery was one of the reason that Awolowo decided to change the currency overnight.... and limited their "war reparation" to "20 Nigerian Pounds" only.[/b ]

Most fake products come via china. If I should think along that line you just brought up then it would be safe to say they have factories producing these sub standard product. At this stage I would like to drag your attention back to Taiwan, this is how they started including china, now look where they at now.I recon teh underlining factor here is cheap sub standard goods including fake ones should be sold at its real value just as they do i n china not con people into thinking its the real thing when its the c r a p stuff being sold. Most fake car parts come from china. Most fake bags and clothes, perfume and whole lods more come from china.
No Bro, Thisis NOT how they started.
Taiwan and China back then, where producing to the level of Technology that they have.
As Technology improved, they also improved to what we have today.

As for the Ibo, they go as far as the same China "TODAY" ...and PURPOSELY ASK THEM TO PRODUCE SUB-STANDARD AND FAKE PRODUCTS SOLELY FOR EXPORT TO NIGERIA, ..THEIR OWN COUNTRY, FOR THEIR OWN PEOPLE'S CONSUMPTION!

The motivating factor here is quick and illicit profit.
For example, a 12V 60AMP/H car battery that should have say 12Cells and cost say #10,000 on conversion.
Ibo man will go to China and ask the manufacturer to do one with 6Cells
and reduce other "critical inputs" for safe use such that the cost of production is LESS THAN HALF.

Ibo man brings it to Nigeria.... and passes it off as standard Battery and sells it for even #12,000.
He tells you: This one is original!

If you do and sell such product to Chinese people, you get beheaded, straight!

So, we need to distinguish between sub-standard due to low technology as in the China/Taiwan case..... which has greatly improved,..

And Sub-standard, fake or pirated by Ibos whose only motivation is GET RICH QUICK USING ILLICIT METHODS.
That is why their "factories and products" gets worse as time passes, instead of getting better as technology becomes more available

I know you IN PERSON and l know for a fact that you are not Yoruba, be proud of who you are! ....and concentrate on your football-betting.

We have many like you who are "lost in Lagos or the South West" .... since they were a kid and by that, logically, you'd expect they can try to "pass-on" themselves as Yoruba! grin grin

You wont even find a Yoruba-b@stard insulting and condemning everything Yoruba, the way you do.
BTW: Did Aregbesola and Ajumobi deny you of Education in anyway? You bile for those two, as well as any APC Politician makes more than just a PDP SaATNoid! grin

Just Chill and enjoy the ride wink wink

As in "basic" Algebraic Mathematics, ""Plus" multiplied by "Minus" = "Minus" or to put it succinctly, The "Friend" of my "Enemy" is my "Enemy"!
Thus, Femi Gbajabiamila became the enemy of this GROUP simply because he is Yoruba from the South West!! shocked shocked
Know recourse was given to his abilities, character traits, antecedents nor ability to be the best candidate for the job..... anyone but a S/Western Yoruba will do.... even a Northerner will do!
grin

Likewise, "Minus" multiplied by "Minus" = "Plus" or to put it succinctly, the "Enemy of my Enemy, is my Friend!
thus, this is why they supported the candidacy of Olubukola Saraki!
Even against their own "inner convictions, hatred for the Muslim-Northerner and their own detriment", hence my calling it a classical case of "Cutting of their Nose, just to spite their Face"!
It was a choice based squarely on "V" for VENDETTA, HATRED, ANGER and REVENGE! The usual "Pervasive Traits" of the Ibos!

While some have questioned the suitability of Saraki (over other candidates" for this very important post, l must add that the Man himself has the capacity to elevate himself if he chooses to, though it is said that "An Apple rarely falls far from an Apple tree"!
Whether a Leopard can shed his Skin, is another matter for examination as time passes.

But in all these, the S/West has once again come out the winner! grin
First as mentioned, the Saraki guy is named Bukola, which is patently a Yoruba name.... his Sister is "Gbemisola" and their father is also named "Olushola Saraki" so we know where they belong even if you chose to call them Northerners... Yorubas dont mind at all.
There are Yoruba-speaking natives of a host of states in the middle-belt from Kogi, to Kwara.

Also, the Deputy House Speaker is also from Osun State. So, nothing-do S/West and Yorubas in all this.

The people we should all be worried about are those Ibos who are full of HATRED and ANGER for others, changing like the Weather and prostituting their future away like some Agaracha .... all in the name of VENDETTA!

Going Forward with regards to the NASS elections, this position have not changed and having a BUKOLA Saraki (emphasis on the Yoruba name: OLUWABUKOLA, meaning God added to my wealth) as the Senate President and Dongaro (A Fulani Northerner) as House of Reps Leader is still nothing to worry about for Yorubas, as we are never against the Northerner or live in some "phantom fear" of their domination.
Only the very very INSECURE worry about such domination as the Ibos have been showing
.

But l must add that for thee sake of "reassurance" of other zones of the country, real or imagined, the APC would have loved the"Political Power Structure" of the country to be distributed across the landscape (Of-course, the winner always have the first choice in the spoils of war, any war!) but that is a secondary consideration.

The Ibos, Jonathanians and PDP Group, like the "first woman" in my analogy above, are the sort of people who are willing to "CUT-OFF THEIR NOSE, JUST TO HURT THEIR OWN FACE"! ......NOT MINDING IF THEY END-UP "DEFACING" THEMSELVES.... OR DYING IN THE PROCESS, LIKE THE FIRST WOMAN!

Even in their "Hatred of the Northerner" as exemplified in their utterances and voting pattern (the voting pattern is their entitlement, ...as "uselessly-futile" as it ended-up!), the above group, in their loathing of the S/West Yorubas for supporting and voting for a Northerners, as against a Southerner (using only the North-South divide) and a Christian in the name of an "utterly non-performing" (putting it mildly for the sake of decency and diplomacy) Ex President Jonathan, were willing to "temporarily jettison" that "fear" and support the same Northern candidate, against a Southern Candidate in the name of Hon Femi Gbajabiamilla!

A classical case of "CUTTING OFF THEIR NOSE, JUST TO SPITE THEIR FACE"!...... and like the first woman in the Biblical "wisdom of Solomon's case, have a "temporary gloating and relief" which was only very short-lived, as we have seen from the ending fo the story and as "we will still see, from the ending of this scenario" grin grin

merry02:
APC AT THE VERGE OF EARLY COLLAPSE AT THE NATIONAL LEVEL AS THEY LOST THE SENATE PRESIDENCY, SPEAKERSHIP AND OTHER PRINCIPAL OFFICES

'SAI BABA, Messiah' and other ego-massaging praises that are being accorded Buhari by APC and other reactionaries while the President was on his 'unsolicited' tour across the world, leading to his insensitivity to party & government issues, had finally paid off now with this wind of 'CHANGE' that has also taken over the Federal Assemblies with the emergence of PDP-inclined and adopted candidates at helms of affairs as the Senate President, Speaker of HOR, Deputies, etc

Indeed, I love these social contradictions since the internal divides within the ranks and files of the ruling party seemed to be a repudiation of what happened to PDP in 2011?

So, could this be a nemesis?

If it is, then It means this movie will be intriguing and illuminating to see as more interesting episodes and scenes are yet to be unveiled.

While wishing Nigeria/Nigerians well in the face of this power struggle, my departing point will be predicated on some salient posers as below:

PDP ruled for 16years before its fall.

Do you see this crisis-ridden APC exceeding 2019 with the evolution of new APChuh?

Any possibility for Buhari fulfilling the promises made during the electioneering amidst this party political fracashuh
Ayus34:
I don't know where igbos now stand.
At some point it looked like its GEJ or biafra and no one else.
When GEJ lost, they adopted Jimi, it became Jimi Agbaje or no one else.
It then became Ambode vs Igbos.
When Jimi Lost, everyone remembered there was a biafra, serious agitation began. Somehow, the war between Fayose and apc law makers in Ekiti began, and Igbos became Nigerians again and Fayose became hero!.
Now, its Saraki and Dogara that are their Heroes.

I think even if Shekau of bokoharam contests against any choice of apc, Igbos will support him, it doesnt matter if he means bad for Nigeria. but I am happy that Igbos have accepted the Deputy senate president slot , Atleast we can have one Nigeria... sometimes it looks like they want Biafra then next thing they become Nigerians.
shocked shocked grin grin

PDP, JONATHAN"S SaTANoids, IBOS and the WISDOM OF SOLOMON!

Let me make a brief summary of a story we all know very well and how it represents the current actions, utterances and behaviour of the groups highlighted above.

The two women were claiming ownership of a single child and the Kings was wondering how to decide who the "true owner was".
*The FIRST WOMAN said to the King: Let us CUT this child into two (knowing fully well the child will be KILLED in the process) and we can each have the halves (again knowing those halves are USELESS!).

*The SECOND WOMAN said to the King: Let her (the First woman) have the Child instead of killing the Child. That way, the CHILD'S LIFE IS PRESERVED and when s/he is grown up, the Child can then know who his Mother is.

In those days, there was no DNA testing that could have settled the matter but a "WISE KING SOLOMON" REASONED THAT THE FIRST WOMAN DOES NOT CARE IF THE CHILD LIVES OR NOT WHILE THE SECOND WOMAN WANTS THE CHILD ALIVE BY ALL MEANS.... TO THE POINT OF TEMPORARILY CONCEDING OWNERSHIP!
KING SOLOMON THEN USED HIS WISDOM TO INFER THAT IF IT WERE TRULY HER CHILD, WHY WOULD SHE NOT CARE IF HE LIVES OR DIES, INFACT WHY WOULD SHE WANT HIM DEAD? A CASE OF CUTTING-OFF YOUR NOSE, JUST TO SPITE YOUR FACE!

THE KING CONCLUDED THAT THE CHILD BELONGED TO THE SECOND WOMAN.... AND GAVE HIM TO HER..... WHILE CONDEMNING THE FIRST WOMAN TO DEATH

Looking at the just concluded elections that ousted Jonathan while electing Buhari, a Northerner as our President, and the just concluded election into the principal office of the Senate and House of Reps which also threw up Saraki and Dongara as Principal officers, viz-a-viz the "triumphalism of the PDP, "Jonathanians" and Ibos in general"..... one cannot fail to see the parallel in both scenarios.

It is no news that Ibos of the East and the "na our shon" of the S/South voted en-masse for Jonathan for Tribal reasons and campaigned against Buhari for Tribal reasons as well.
Buhari was seriously maligned and wrongly accused of various crimes like being called a terrorist, Muslim fanatic (despite having Christians in the "most sensitive post" of his Personal Driver and House Cook!), Unschooled/Dullard (despite wide circulation of his academic exploits from local and foreign colleges though the "partisan" Nigerian Army which hid his Certificates and NTA + AIT which aired damaging lies about him have recounted their stories, after his victory!).
Even Fayose who took out an advert about his Obituary has had to swallow his "PDP-pride".
Those, including Bishops, who vowed that "Gates of hell will be opened and Nigeria would burn" if Buhari won, have also swallowed their VOMIT, going forward.

It is also no news that the Yorubas of the South West stood behind Buhari despite all the lies and rumors being peddled against him, despite majority of them being Christians and despite that the East tried to stir up "fears of erstwhile Northern domination".
So, we can conclude that the YORUBA ARE GENERALLY COMFORTABLE AND UNPERTURBED ABOUT HAVING A NORTHERNER IN POWER... and did vote for BUHARI to be Nigeria's President.
