yes, bare cement plaster on a concrete floor, since tiling of bathroom floors became fashionable in Nigeria, the number of bathroom slip and fall accidents have increased astronomically, i once read somewhere that about one person dies everyday in America from slip and fall on a wet tiles floor.
There are "Non-Slip" FLOOR Tiles whose surface texture is no smoother (and No less dangerous) than a Cement floor such that the danger you are exposed to, is same as using a Cement floor.

But there is further advantage to these Tiles in that they are "easier to clean and more aesthetically pleasing" than bare Cement floor.

Concrete is Better!
Dont forget to include "Expansion Joints", as you do a Modular concreting, say every 1M interval

No inclusion leads to 'cracks" as time goes-by.

Do you bother to know why boko haram kill people?

If no, then why bother to know what she did that warranted this beating?

You don't ask criminals for their own side of the story until they are in handcuffs or behind bars.
Ofcourse we do ask WHY Boko Haram kills people!
If we dont ask, how then can we solve/resolve the problem!
Even the Mad terrorists has a "cause", no matter how crazy it seems!

Yes, you dont ask an "accused" their own side of the story, until you arrest them....

.... But at the same time, you dont crucify the accused or pronounce judgement on them...... until you hear their own side of the story.

To think you Jail people FIRST ...and then start asking them what happened, is not civilised and does not happen in a legal environment

First, let me make it abundantly clear that l do not give "privilege" to anyone, based on their gender.
I believe and adhere to "Gender Equality".
Simply put, l will treat a man, the same way l would treat a woman.

To treat a woman less, because of her gender, is to disrespect womanhood.

In line with the above, let me also add that l am 101% against VIOLENCE .....on any person, be it Husband or Wife, Male or Female.
Violence should not be tolerated and should not be perpetuated on ANYONE, irrespective of gender

On this particular issue:

The picture of the woman with wounds sustained from "violence" between her and her husband, is very regrettable.
It should not have happened, even if the man or woman has to say a "temporary sorry" to the other, to avoid it

Now, if l am allowed to shed my "emotions, sentiments and chauvinism" for GENDER and look at both the Husband and Wife as "Humans", l will ask the following questions:

1.) I have seen the injury picture of the battered woman, ....am l expected to "make a call" without seeing the injury picture of the man as well?
What if the man produces his own picture ...(Note: this was a FIGHT between two adults, and not a case of one person was tied to a tree while the other one was pummelling the "tied" one.... both have hands!).... and his wounds are far worse than this?

Are we going to take back all the hate words and pour even worse ones on the woman?.... or are we just doing this because we still cling to the notion of "woman is a weak gender"?
Has anyone seen the man, after this fight? Did he takes pictures (I am yet to see any reasonable Nigerian man who will take pictures of his wounds, to prove his wife did it to him) or did he just lick his own wound "like a man"?

2.) There is a saying that "it takes two to tango".
In summarry, l am yet to see a situation where even a "mad person" slaps you and you "keep quiet and WALK AWAY"... and he starts chasing you all about, to add more slaps.
In other words, to come out of a fight this bruised, you definitely were not "walking away or passive"..... you were fighting like hell!
That is certainly your right (your right to fight back!) .... but how you come out of "a fight", if you chose to "fight back", is unpredictable but the choice is still yours..... To FIGHT ... or To TAKE A WALK.
Its often said that "If you know you cant win a fight, it is more honorable to avoid it (walk away), than to come out regretting it"

3.) There is a saying: "Angry words, stirs-up anger... while "gentle" words pacifies anger"!
The summary of the above is that in a "conflict situation" between TWO ADULTS, each of them has a choice to either "DE-ESCALATE" the conflict and then pacify the situation, leading to each party going their ways "unharmed"....

...or ESCALATE the conflict, increase anger and danger such that either or both parties will suffer injuries as we have seen.

What we chose in such "conflict situation", is our choice and our right and the consequence is also our responsibility, because we made the choice!

What l have come to learn in life is NEVER to "jump to conclusions" without hearing from two parties to a conflict, more so when the conflict is between a Husband and wife! ..... no matter the type of emotions or sentiments l am feeling for one of the party.

A good example is that of "Denrele" and her husband.
when they were fighting, l remember some people took sides and even acted on "her advice", to destroy their own "difficult relationship".
The same "Maggas" are now criticising her for "making-up" with her estranged spouse, having advised them to dump theirs! grin grin grin

Finally, if you have taken a matter before a law court(as in file for divorce), it is legally wrong for you to take the same matter to a Social Media and start pouring opprobrium on the other party, identifying them "positively" with their names and pictures... on the same matter before the court.
Lawyers in the house (l mean real, qualified Lawyers!) can weigh in on this.

In all, l will advise ANYONE, to always "take a walk, if you are faced with conflict", or at least try to "de-escalate" the situation (even if you need to say a "temporary sorry", as a get-away strategy) so that you will avoid coming out of the duel, with pictures like this!

Wounds are not inflicted alone using "hands", ....the TINGUE, which is sharper than a sword, also inflicts lasting wounds...which linger on for life, in the victims heart, long after physical wounds have healed.

I hope the court dissolves this marriage immediately so that we dont have to witness such graphic pictures anymore.
I also hope they dont go back to each other in future also...... That would make all the "sympathisers" who want to kill themselves over the matter, to look very stewpid!
Marriage is not and will never be by force! undecided

Caveat: the above is just my own opinion, not forced on anyone and it is my right not to think or "follow the crowd" so please, if you disagree, you can state your own opinion is a "civilised manner" and l do respect your right to a different or divergent opinion.

But it's not for security as much as it's for tranquility, concrete soothes my soul grin

The houses that I admire, the architecture that motivates me all have one thing in common. Pure concrete and unpainted surfaces.

As far as for heat, a well designed plan will not have heat issues. It's Nigerians with their claustrophobically small hallways and shoving ensuite into every nook and cranny that causes heat issues.
You are badt! very, very Badt! shocked shocked shocked

Honestly, it initially actually made me feel claustrophobic some decades back!
I had such experience, when l used to work in a Nigerian bank and l had to go into the Vault of each branch to install Cameras because some "invisible rat" was playing games with a few bundles of naira in our vaults!

Mehn, l felt like the walls were just about to crush me, even though they ain't moving at all, at times l feel dazed after a few minutes in there and at times, l just want out.

Come and see the Big pole l used in shocking the Head office Vault door.... like someone was going to forget and lock me inside! grin grin

With time, l got over it just a little as l have a little "safe house" with such 'spec' in my house but strictly for "digging-in", in case the unexpected happens and it is just a small area.
I dislike concrete though l can understand it has its own positive attributes and necessary uses.

That picture you served us looks so solid, for a house.

At our site in Mokola.. We opted to paint the wall of the Chairman's office without Screeding. (you can see the light green paint on the inside of the window). However after painting with emulsion, the finish wasnt good enough so we had to screed.

2nd picture is showing the wall painted after Screeding. As smooth and silky as a baby's butt. We painted with satin paint from Dulux. Costs about 17k or so for a 5 litre tin. While emulsion is 7,000 for that large 20litre drum.
Finally, we are getting closer, bit by bit..... to the bottom of this 'Screeding' matter,

@Kolashang

Can you still break this "screed" down a lil'bit please.

1.) What is the material of the screed that you used, made of?

2.) Did you buy it off the shelf or you had to mix it yourself, from scratch or from bags of such materials

3.) Looking at it, l suspect it will be some semi-liquid (like when raw cement is mixed to a pasty form) form and do you have to use any particular equipment to apply it on the wall or is it done using the normal brush or roller, like a thick paint?

4.) I dont know how "old school" you are but how will you compare the Screed material (the paste), to our local "white Efun" (if made to the same thickness) or the use of the POP material, if we can make it to the same thickness as well.
(l am talking alternative 'material sourcing' here though l may be way off-mark in my assumptions)

Now that is what l call "baby schooling" for me! grin grin

Thanks for your informed response.

My rules are simple.
to have a good a very good finished wall you need to have a good stable wall that moisture will not rise through, will not crack due to settlement or over loading. You need to have a very good plaster sand, very good mix (preferably 1:1:4) and then all other things follows.

Those are the pictures from my ongoing work
Mehn! Those plasterings out are of this world!

So smooth .....l could touch it on my screen.

Nice one there.

Hello Spyder,

That building is coming out so beautifully.
I especially think your white colored wardrobes will be very outstanding when finished. I love white things!

I am just wondering if there is a way one can do it such that the "casement" windows can FULLY OPEN (as in open flat against the wall), instead of being prevented from doing so, by the Edge decorations.
(See the places l highlighted in red)

I think it defeats the essence of ventilation if the window can only open to say about 100- 120 degrees, instead of 180 degrees required to really allow air to flow-in properly.

What methods/strategies can you suggest please?

thanks,

Did you see him making the confession in front of a camera or you just heard that he confessed? By the way, if you doubt the family's press statement and believed that of the government, then something is wrong with you.

Let me make it clear here that Dokpesi did not tell anyone that Dasuki paid him
