God forbid that my woman calls me a 'side- thing' Otedola daughters want to become Naija's Kardashians. Wayward daughters of a philandering father. If it was Victor that called her a 'side thing' now, you people would be hailing him! He has not proposed to her, or even introduced her to his family, as a potential wife. So yes, she is correct in calling him a 'side thing.' She is thinking with her head, and not her heart. It shows that she is not putting too much hope on the affair, and she has her head screwed on tight. If he misbehaves, the girl is ready to 'waka comot, and go elsewhere, without too much headache. That is the way it should be. Nobody should kill himself because of some so-called love... |

manitoba: I have the opportunity of being the first user of a brand new Innoson SUV IVM G5 around the tail end of 2016. I almost had accident on my first trip on ascending a hill as the car couldn't give me traction on trying to accelerate to avoid collusion with an oncoming vehicle. The throttle is also too close to the brake system and it can easily cause accident for an unaware first time driver. The entertainment system is also a poor one as it has no standard entertainment system. (only has radio option and u can connect your USB to enjoy selection of music). The upholstery are not well clad and gives way under heavy weight. It should also be known that the SUV had difficulty accelerating from 80mph and above. I confronted the Sales Manager and he told me the vehicle is pre-installed with a speed limiter. I chastised him that we were to also be pre-informed as that can easily cause accident. After rocking it for like 3 weeks in the East, we finally agreed to make the journey to Lagos with it. The journey to the east was a smoother journey than the intra state journey we had as I was able to reach a milestone 120mph with it. The Engine : The engine capacity seems inappropriate for the expected performance from the car. The cooling system : This is sub optimal as it still doesnt cool well even at its highest regulation. The Tyres: This seems to be the only bright side to the car. Though Chinese make of tyre, they looks good and performed well considering the fact that we used the vehicle heavily within short period. General Appearance : It Appeared great looking at it from the outside. Rating : On a scale of 1-10, I will rate the SUV 4. I had so much enthusiasm in riding a Nigeria made SUV as I am an avid supporter of Mr Innocent Chukwuma's aspiration but in all honesty, the vehicle fell below expectation. There is so much room for improvement but I must commend his effort to try at all.Pricing: Was sold between 10m -11m( I don't want to quote exact amount as our purchase price may be a concessionary price as we are very close to the' system'. It was a great price then as no brand new SUV of that stature was going below 20m then. My Submission : I enjoin our eastern brothers to patronise this company more as I saw most of the Anambarians patronising more of the very expensive imported cars rather than patronise the great Innoson products. Mr Innoson also needs to do more of advertisement and road show with the array of his products. That is my untainted submission on the SUV. Thank you so very much for your observations. This is the kind of detailed report that I have been searching for. Anyone who reads this, would know what to expect when buying a car from Innosons. But can anyone give us an idea about the second-hand value of the vehicles? |

Can you give a first hand account or your own personal experience, regarding its performance and durability? What is the likelihood of getting availability of spare parts, in the location where you reside? What is their after-sales service like? What is the acceleration and torque like? How stable is the gear shift system at high speeds? What is the braking distance for its vehicles? How often does it malfunction? Oluyinka Kufile, Chairman and Managing Director of Qualitec Industries Limited, started business on a small-scale, in the eighties. From importing and marketing pots, pans and aluminium wares, he moved into large scale manufacturing, by setting up a private company focusing on production of aluminum materials and long-span sheets. His company is based in the Agege area of Lagos, but has a huge multi-million naira factory in Otta. “We have made these investments, because we believe that what is worth doing at all, is worth doing well," says Oluyinka Kufile. "When we started, it got to a point that we had to approach American Nexim Bank. They obliged us and gave us the facility. Today, it is a different story.” And that story is a successful one. Kufile, is also the vice-chairman of Basic Metal Group of the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN). He is however sad that the Aluminium Smelter Company, located in Ikot Abasi in Akwa Ibom State, is still under lock and key. It used to produce ingots which are the raw materials used for fabrication of aluminium coils. Today, such ingots are imported from Cameroun at a huge cost. If Kufile had his way, he would urge the federal govt to reopen the smelter company, so that local production of ingots can resume. His firm Qualitec is already well positioned to maintain its lead in the industrial sector. His factory already has a rolling mill that reduces aluminium into various thickness and gauges, along with a tension levelling line and other specialised equipment, for ensuring that products from their factory meet global standards. https://www.businessdayonline.com/qualitec-industries-raising-the-bar-in-nigerian-aluminium-industry/Qualitec Industries Limited is one of the three leading aluminium makers in Nigeria, whose basic business is to manufacture aluminium coils and roofing sheets.
It began in the early 1980s with the manufacture of pots, pans and other household utensils at Ojokoro area of Lagos State. Later on, the factory was sited in Lagos but was recently moved to Ota, Ogun State.
A fully incorporated company, Qualitec primarily manufactures aluminium coils for various industrial applications, while also supplying and installing stone chip roofing sheets and flashings of various sizes and designs.
Generally, the company’s product line comprises cast coils, mill finish aluminium coils, coloured coated coils, roofing sheets, step tiles and flashings.
While the company’s corporate office is located in Lagos, its factory is situated at Ota, Ogun State. At the Ota factory, about $100 million investments have so far been made in new plants, machinery, captive power plants and resuscitation of existing plants. There have also been investments in ingots, which are raw materials used in making aluminium.
A second production line is being installed, while machines that will be required, alongside technicians that will operate them, are expected to arrive in Nigeria soon from Turkey.
In Nigeria, players in aluminium and extrusion industry collect wastes and then package them for exports, while demanding bragging rights from the government in the form of export grants. “But we do not do this, because we believe in the industrialisation of the country,” said Qualitec’s managing director.
Qualitec Industries has 2,000KVA and many 500KVA generators that power the factory. There are also captive power plants as well as over four gas generators, which serve as alternatives during power failure or once generators disappoint them. The consequence of this is the high cost of energy for Qualitec and consequently production costs. “We spend N15 million monthly on diesel,” the managing director said.
Despite the fact that, these investments are made by one man, even without necessary assistance from the government, Qualitec’s products’ quality is not compromised. A lot of aluminium dealers in the country depend on Qualitec for raw materials. https://www.businessdayonline.com/qualitec-industries-raising-the-bar-in-nigerian-aluminium-industry/

Temie Giwa-Tubosun, the founder, and CEO of LifeBank is a woman with a mission. She wants to ensure that all those who need blood, get it as fast as they can, without any prolonged delay. Her goal is to save lives, and put a halt to avoidable deaths, so that people no longer lose their lives due to lack of blood. So in 2015, Temie Giwa-Tubosun established Life Bank an online platform, to help reduce blood shortage in Nigeria. LifeBank provides records of blood banks available all over Lagos, which allows health centers to find the relevant blood types and order for delivery. The company delivers an average of 300 pints of blood a month to more than 170 hospitals across the state. “We like to think of ourselves at LifeBank as a technology and logistics start-up. We use technology to discover blood and deploy this information to the hands of our hospital clients.
“Then we deliver the blood they ordered to their hospital within 55 minutes.”
“It’s not a poor people problem, it’s not a rich people problem, it’s everybody’s problem… We like to think that we’ve made the blood donation easy and fun with our app.”
Explaining how the system works, Giwa-Tubosun said: “Let’s say you’re a donor, I register on the platform and I book an appointment, LifeBank finds the closest blood bank to you.
“It books an appointment for you at the blood bank. You go to the blood bank you give blood. We have about 3,000 donors registered on our platform who’ve agreed to give blood to save lives.
“Our goal is to get to one million active donors for our donor app. We also have a goal to get to every hospital, every single hospital within Lagos in the next two years. https://lifestyle.thecable.ng/lifebank-solving-problem-blood-scarcity-one-hospital-time/

Bankole Cardoso: CEO, Easy Taxi Nigeria Bankole Cardoso, son of the late Dr. Stella Ameyo Adadevoh, the medical doctor who put herself in harm's way, in order to prevent the spread of Ebola. Everyone in this nation owes you a debt of gratitude. Continue to rest in peace, dear daughter of God! Dr. Stella Ameyo Adadevoh was the courageous doctor that restrained Liberian-American Patrick Sawyer who was infected with Ebola, and had flown in sick to Lagos from Monrovia in July 2014. He wanted to leave. Dr. Adadevoh and her team refused to let him go — if she had, he could have triggered a wide-scale epidemic in Lagos, a city of 20 million people. Instead, the outbreak was limited in Africa's most populous nation, and Nigeria was declared Ebola-free in October that year, by the World Health Organization. http://www.npr.org/sections/goatsandsoda/2014/12/31/374024919/a-son-is-lost-without-his-mother-so-is-a-countryStella Adadevoh’s Son Bankole Cardoso opens up about Her Last Moments On the last time he saw her and her last words: The last time I saw her face-to-face was the day I went to the centre to give her, her footwear and her iPad. She was physically very weak. This was someone I had never seen fall sick in my life. But then, she was physically very weak. I took all the stuff to her and put it through the door, she had to go and collect it because I couldn’t go into the room.
We spoke through the window, I was crying. But she was adamant, she said, “Don’t worry, son. This thing is not going to kill me, but I am very proud of you.” Those were the last words she told me. This was about 10 days before she died.
The WHO doctor, Dr. David, told us that it was only a matter of time (before she died), that we should expect the call the next day or in the next week. We were waiting for the call. But he kept telling us that it was a matter of time— it was worse than receiving the actual call. And she had such a strong belief. Her last words were "Blood of Jesus," according to the doctor. https://www.bellanaija.com/2015/05/stella-adadevohs-son-bankole-cardoso-opens-up-about-her-last-moments-in-new-interview/ http://www.npr.org/sections/goatsandsoda/2014/12/31/374024919/a-son-is-lost-without-his-mother-so-is-a-country

Lisabi Mills (Nigeria) Limited the pioneer food processing company in Nigeria was established in 1939 by Late Mr. Josephus Kayode Ladipo. Today, the company is run by his son Shex Olusegun Ladipo. He is a firm believer in using local content coupled with modern technology, to produce products that are wholesome, hygienic and convenient. As a scion of the Lisabi (Foods) dynasty, Shex had very early exposure to industry, and was appointed Managing Director of the company in 2008, having served previously in various other capacities for over 20 years. Over the years, the company has withstood the harsh business terrain, and continued to make great strides. It refines and packages traditional foods and fortified products, in clean hygienic user-friendly packs, which are targeted at middle-class and upper-income consumers. It is currently seeking ways to produce fortified nutrient-rich foods for low-income families, all over the country. The company currently produces and markets Gold’s Custard product. It also creates easy-to-prepare versions of traditional foods, like bean flour, yam flour, wheatmeal flour, as well as the popular Wheat-O breakfast cereal. Despite the significant challenges it has had in developing, producing and marketing nutrient-rich foods to reach a large proportion of Nigerian citizens, it has still succeeded in carving out a substantial market share in several markets, where it competes with larger more established multinational brands. Its' turnover and profit is a closely-guarded secret, but industry watchers confirm that it runs into lots of millions. Established in 1939, Lisabi Mills Nigeria Limited, is the oldest indigenous food-processing company in Nigeria. The company’s longevity and reputation are a major accomplishment, in a context where few food-processing companies survive beyond a few years.
It was also one of the first companies to introduce fortified products, beginning in 1984. The company’s reputation and success have been built through pursuing a model based on premium-quality products and strong brand reputation. Lisabi Mills’ key strength is its reputation and loyalty across generations of consumers.
It has been successful in achieving acceptability for its products among its core consumer groups. The company achieves this by focusing on traditional foods, to which it adds value through fortification and convenience. To support its reputation for supplying quality food, the company has developed rigorous quality-assurance procedures and has invested in a testing laboratory and other technology, in order to ensure that its products meet national and international standards.
While many mid-size companies in Nigeria misrepresent the ingredients and quantities in their products, Lisabi Mills is committed to high standards of integrity. Its products have received quality certification and awards from industry associations .
Based in Lagos, Lisabi Mills produces a wide range of traditional and convenience foods marketed across southern and central Nigeria. It is a mid-sized company which operates in relatively niche markets. It holds substantial market share, in several of the product categories in which it operates. In these markets, the company competes against both multinational corporations, large Nigerian corporations and other mid-size companies.
For companies to provide nutrient-rich and affordable foods, they need reliable sources of good-quality inputs at low cost. However, Lisabi Mills’ strategy is to source domestically whenever it can. For several of its products, Lisabi Mills sources domestically - these include cowpea (bean flour) and yam tubers, which are provided by aggregators or middlemen. Such supplies encounter the familiar problems of variations in quality and price fluctuations, in particular for cowpea.
In 2008, it won the following awards: ● Mandatory Conformity Assessment Programme award (for Gold’s Custard), from the Standards Organisation of Nigeria ● National Quality Management Award, from the Quality Management Development Institute ● Blue-Ribbon Complementary Food Award from the Country Association Network2 and UNICEF http://sahelcp.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/12/ER64%20The%20Role%20of%20Businesses%20in%20Providing%20Nutrient-rich%20Foods%20for%20the%20Poor%20Two%20Case%20Studies%20in%20Nigeria.pdf

Tempohousing Nigeria (THN) is a leading Nigeria based project developer, specializing in the design and manufacture of building structures, using standard ISO shipping containers. It has leveraged decades of technology pioneered abroad, and tailored it to meet the housing crisis in Nigeria and West Africa. Their unique construction system, makes it possible to quickly construct and transport their container structures, to any location. Their prefabricated buildings are designed using a template, that incorporates container sizes that come in the following ISO standards: 8 ft (2,4 m) wide, 40 ft long (12 m) and 8’6” high (2,6 m). There are a few variations in size: e.g. higher units of 9’6” (“high cube”) and longer units measuring 45 ft (13,5m) and for some – not European – markets 53 ft (16 m). Their buildings stand out in terms of quality and delivery. The structures are imported from foreign countries and cut offsite, using a lot of skill and ingenuity. It takes them about 6-8 weeks, to build a fully finished duplex from scratch using these containers. Their prefabricated buildings can be used as homes, shops, offices, ATM kiosks, showrooms etc., and can be stacked, fully laden, up to 9-stories high, providing structural strength. They are also insulated from external noise or sound transmission, and insulated to prevent external cold or heat from being transmitted through the walls, ceiling and floor into the interior parts of the building, so that an ambient temperature of 21 degrees Celsius can be maintained. Each one is built with fully fitted wiring, plumbing and even burglary-proof frames. Their clients include John Deere, Exxon Mobil, Cardinal Stone, TATA the Indian automobile manufacturer, Stanbic IBTC, Georges Medical Centre etc. The outfit is run by three whizkids - Dele Ijaiya-Oladipo, David Aderounmu and Arc. Solomon Oluwaseyi.

Tunji Balogun, the Chairman/ Chief Executive Officer, Brian Integrated Systems, has been a key player in the Nigerian IT scene for more than a decade. He had initially set up Balog Technologies in the 90s, in a small outlet in Computer Village in Ikeja, Lagos. By establishing a reputation for quality and reliability, his firm quickly grew to become one of the leading wholesale stockists and re-sellers of branded computer hardware systems and accessories in the market. Today, he has a subsidiary known as Brian Integrated Systems, that assembles tablets, desktops and laptops within Nigeria. His motorized conveyor driven assembling plant has a production capacity of 200 devices per day. Mr. Tunji Balogun, managing director and chief executive officer of the Company told Nigeria Communications Week, that Brian has been monitoring the market, and has discovered that very soon laptops and desktops will be replaced by touch button and touch screen phones.
“So, we do not wish to be left behind. Our tab is a bit different and higher than what is obtainable in the market today. Some of them come in wireless form with USB provision. Most tabs in the market now do not have USB spaces and that limits the user who cannot pair an additional device or his personal software, with the tab”, he said.
Nodding in agreement, Olaide Balogun, Managing Director, Balog Technologies, the driver of the project - described the tablet as one that will give foreign brands a run for their money; hence the features are user-friendly and related to Nigerian environment.
She said: “Our Company is a forward looking one and with the current trend; people are now looking forward to touch-centric communication (phones) gadgets. That actually spurred us to move into invention of tablet. It’s a 4.1” tablet with clear camera dimension. On a special note, it has USB some popular brands do not have. That has been a limitation to the end-user, but we are cutting off that barrier. “The tablet is light weight, portable and various colours. It also has WiFi-3G, so no limitation; the user will always be on the go,” she said giving a brief description of the tab. http://nigeriacommunicationsweek.com.ng/telecom/brian-computer-to-unveil-own-tablet-phones

When Engr. (Chief) Toyin Adeyinka set up Sparklight Property Development Company in Lagos several years ago, he never guessed that his sojourn in the real estate market would be so fruitful. From property rental, his firm moved into property development and today, they have about 3 different estates spread across Lagos and Ogun state. These estates include Sparklight Grace Court Estate, Ikota, Lekki, Lagos; Rockview Estate, Obasanjo Hill Top, Abeokuta and Gateway-Sparklight Estate Phase II at Magboro, along Lagos-Ibadan Expressway. In his quest to conquer bigger challenges, he set up Amide Clay Industries Limited, an indigenous clay brick factory which has highly qualified foreign, technical and administrative personnel. Its entire range of brick production is carried out using state-of-the-art machines. The company currently increased its production rate to 6 million bricks per annum. They have already concluded plans to start production of 20- 25 million bricks yearly. Last year, the company upgraded its' factory with automated equipment worth 4.5 billion naira at its' site in Olapeleke near Ewekoro, in Ogun State. Adeyinka is a seasoned Engineer whose wide experience spans over 30 years of experience. He has executed a number of highly successful projects worldwide, and has been actively involved in the profession of civil engineering and construction management since 1978. He is a member of the American Society of Engineers, Nigerian Society of Engineers, Fellow of the Institute of Structural Engineers and a certified member of the Council of Registered Engineers in Nigeria (COREN). Engr. Adeyinka is also the Chairman of Stallion Microfinance Bank, Labade Furniture Company Limited and Bade Farms.
“Before now the company was using the old fashioned permanent clamp kiln with a capacity of 20 million standard bricks per annum.
“We were using the clamp kiln for firing and open air-drying process. Now, we have moved to artificial drying, which is a major step that increased the capacity of our production from barely four million bricks per annum to 20 million bricks,” he said.
Adeyinka disclosed that the factory was sited within the Olapeleke environment because the required clay deposit is found in the locality. The company has a mining licence from the federal government.
On the demand for bricks, he said: “There is a huge demand for bricks in the country. We have been able to convince some arms of government adopt bricks in the construction of houses. As a structural engineer, there are some structures; we deliberately recommend that it should be light loaded due to the characteristics of bricks. Bricks are lighter and if you want to reduce the load on a particular structure, we advice the builder to adopt clay bricks. That is another source of demand."
“What we are doing with Amide is a silent revolution. We’re setting up a Nigeria Brick Industry Institute like in the United States, which membership will be opened to the public. It will be a forum to exchange ideas.” He added.
The director, Subsidiary and Production, Sparklight Group, Adeoye Adeyinka explained that there are three major steps in the production process. https://guardian.ng/property/amide-seeks-ban-on-clay-bricks-import-launches-n4-5b-factory/ ; https://www.today.ng/business/154242/firm-ramps-nigeria-brick-production-20m-yearly

There is still a lot more that can be said about Chief Adegunwa. A few publications have carried stories about him. In the 90s, he was popularly known as Fototek, because of his investments in photography, and photographic equipment. His massive head office at Adebola house in the Opebi area of Ikeja, Lagos was a beehive of activities. It had one of the best photo studios in Lagos. But when smartphones and inkjet printers were launched in the Nigerian market, the demand for photographic materials dwindled, and he had to move into other lines of business. He celebrated his 70th birthday last year, and many people had kind words to say about him. The Story Of Ijebu Businessman, Alhaji Adegunwa ~ City People Magazine ~ April 9, 2017
The story of renowned business mogul, Alhaji (Dr.) Sulaiman Adebola Adegunwa, can be likened to the proverbial Grass to Grace. He started his career as a Photographer and with the grace of God, he stepped up his game and became a big player in the Photography business.
He rose to become a big importer of photographic equipment before he veered into other areas of investment. Today, he owns several companies and he plays big in real estate and banking.
When this Ijebu businessman, turned 70 last year, he was celebrated in a big way. The stylish and deeply religious man has positively touched so many lives. For decades, he has been actively involved in philanthropy. He has, however, been silent about it.
In Ijebu, his image looms large because of his kind gestures. He is from Ososa Ijebu, the land of birth of the late Theatre icon, Hubert Ogunde, of blessed memory. He has also established businesses in Ijebu just as he did in Lagos. He also built a big mosque in his home town.
He recently completed a big multibillion dollar factory that has provided jobs for several Ijebu youths. If you approach Ososa town from the Benin-Sagamu expressway you will see the very expensive factory where he produces his RITE sausage rolls, and soft drink. That is what he has always been known for. His past achievements prime him a better prospect to industrially lift Ijebuland . A harbinger of good things, he is, by his present dispensation going to script a glorious future for Ijebuland.
His economic empowerment stride is spectacularly lifting Ijebu people out of quagmire of poverty. As he knows the benefit and value of kindness and selflessness, he keeps living those values. He is living an exemplary life, which is a source of inspiration for future industrialists. He treasures without any inhibition, love, integrity and hard-work as values
At 71, he is still vibrant, quick-witted, sharp and focused as a prodigy in his teens. He is a model of tenacity of purpose and resilience, which have remained his benchmark. Strong, and courageous, he has never for once reduced the urge to strive higher for a much larger business conglomerate. His unquantifiable contributions can be appreciated in major areas such as business, philanthropy and national unity.
Alhaji (Dr.) Sulaiman Adebola Adegunwa has perfected the art of working silently, and letting his achievements speak for him, but then, success is a gold fish that has no hiding place. He has succeeded in getting his name written in gold. Thus remaining at all times an invaluable giant.
He is the Founder & Executive Chairman of many companies like Fototek Industries Ltd, on Opebi Road, Ikeja. He set it up in 1980. The company, is a conglomerate with its sister company, Photo Palace Ltd. It operates photo labs, boasting of 56 branches across 28 states of the federation. The company also engages in sales of photographic equipment and materials. Please read the rest here: http://www.citypeopleonline.com/fototek-boss-adebola-adegunwa-started-photographer/

Sulaiman Adebola Adegunwa OFR, is a Nigerian businessman, philanthropist, and former Chairman of Sterling Bank Plc. He is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Essay Holdings Limited, as well as Chairman of Rite Foods Limited and Tura Kodak Film in Nigeria. He is also the Executive Director of Thai Farm International Limited, a Nigerian-based company that focuses on the production and processing of cassava. Adegunwa holds a doctorate degree ( honoris causa) from the Lagos State University and Olabisi Onabanjo University. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sulaiman_Adebola_AdegunwaIn 1963, Chief Adegunwa set up Essay Holdings Group, to carry out the photography business. Within a decade, it had become one of the first fully-equipped Colour Laboratories in Nigeria. As part of its expansion bid, the company diversified into the Fast Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) sector a couple of years later, and established Rite Foods Limited. The firm produces the Bigi range of non-alcoholic beverages including table water, as well as a wide variety of sausage rolls, such as Rite Spicy Beef Rolls, Bigi and Bigibite Rolls. Its' beverages come in the following flavours: Bigi Tropical, Orange, Lime & Lemon, Cola, Bitter Lemon, and Apple. Their multi-million naira fully-automated factory is situated on several hectares of land in Ososa, near Sagamu in Ogun State. It was launched in 2014, with an objective to produce world class quality food and beverages in Nigeria, and its' adherence to high quality standards has allowed it to thrive in a market dominated by international brands. The factory is currently being run by Mr. Seleem Adegunwa, son of the business magnate. Starting a beverage industry that is undertaking all operations in Nigeria has been quite a challenge, especially with consumers remaining very adamant to change, especially with the mentality of not wanting to try out new brands. They have been able to win the hearts of Nigerians with top quality and their taste not differing from that of their giant rivals.
“Rite Foods is committed to building a sustainable brand alongside the community, reducing environmental damage and providing inclusive work environment for employees.” “In terms of hygiene and quality it can never be better, because we use the best machinery, best practices and zero human interference,” says Seleem Adegunwa.
Being an industry that undergoes all operations in Nigeria, they have been able to employ over 3,000 youths which is an estimate of the number of youth corpers in one batch stream in Lagos, in just three years of establishment. And not only did they create a large number of employment, they also provided them with staff accommodation within a stone throw from the office that makes working stress free. https://blog./rite-foods-online-success-story/
