I don't think the Op understands what it means to be signed by a major record label and what it entails. I used to be an entertainment lawyer and i have seen first hand what goes into signing an artist to an international label and the risks the label takes signing artists. Most of the complains here deals with money and exposure the artist claims he is not getting from the label but no one wants to talk about the underlining issues that deals with signing a record contract.

First of all you have to know that a record label is a business and its number one priority is to make money. No label would sign any artist that would not rake in profits. Its not a foundation or NGO where they dash out free money for artists to waste and buy expensive things for no reason. Every dollar must be accounted for. What people don't know is that every time they sign an artist for Bleep million dollars, that money is like a loan given to the artist in advance to shoot videos, record songs in studios, hire producers, pay radio djs and vjs, push their cds to music bloggers, writers and radio stations, pay for equipment, pay for the artist's image and P.R etc. In return the label must recoup what they have given to the artist in terms of sales of their cds, concerts, appearance, endorsement and merchandise. That's why they have to control their image and creative rights so that they can successfully market the artist to recoup their money.

The problem arises when the artist agrees to take a huge advance of the Bleep millions he signed for and spends it recklessly. They spend so much on videos that won't yield any profit. They spend a lot purchasing flashy things to maintain a flashy lifestyle. They spend a lot on costly studios productions and mismanage the money. They move with a large entourage and pay for everything the entourage purchases. They are always popping champagne and living a lavish lifestyle in clubs and frolicking with women. Meanwhile the contract states that they must sell above 100,000 or more cds so that the label can break even but the artist has not even finished recording the songs talk less of marketing the song to the public. The contract also states the sharing profit formular for both the artist and the label ( maybe a 60/40 sharing ratio..60 FOR LABEL AND 40 FOR ARTIST) but the artist has already taken his advance of the 40% but he expects the label to still share the cd sales profit and concert profits when the label has not recouped anything. How do you expect the label to act when its running at a loss?

Most artists don't know the Label is like a bank. They borrow you an advance and expect a full repayment with interest. Once the Label is having difficulties in achieving its aim, it becomes aggressive and engage in drastic cuts to limit the expensive lifestyle and actions of the artist. Its that moment you begin to see the artist complaining that the label is cheating them but you would never see the artist tell the public that he was given Bleep amount of money in advance which they squandered. They expect the label to share the cd sales 50/50 or the concert profits 50/50 because they have achieved the fame they craved for without enriching the pockets of the label. Nobody would agree to that.

Look at most artists today. They don't have lawyers that study their contracts, they don't have accountants to manage their funds, they don't have sensible managers that advise them on what to spend and what to save. Its all about achieving fame and spending lavishly to impress the public without working hard to make money for themselves and the label. The label would not allow them go and break the contract without them recouping their profit and if the artist attempts to run, they would set a plethora of lawyers on them to conform until they recoup their money or break even. There is simply no free lunch contrary to what the public thinks. Some artists are so ignorant that they sign 5 or 6 year deals with a label because they promised them Bleep millions but they forget that the contract is binding as long as you took their money. They even sign without lawyers and pose for the cameras for bloggers to hail them as the next Michael Jackson only for them to start crying after 1 year when they don't see the projected income they were dreaming of. So if you are going to blame the Label also remember the artist is also at fault. No body would dash any artist free money to waste lavishly and not suffer the repercussions. The label is not their family member. Its a business pure and simple. If you collect their money, you must work for it. Its that simple!

Mr Lekan Fatodu you are a national hero. For years this Sowore has been using propaganda and false statements to defame and blackmail people without any remorse because he is hiding outside the country. A simple Land verification could have prevented this issue from degenerating to this level. The rule is very simple:

Only one person cannot sell family land. The buyers did not take time out to confirm from the community members about the origin of the land and how the property was transferred to this fraudster. Most Land fraudsters do everything possible to avoid potential buyers from confirming ownership of land from other family members. Everything is done in secret without the knowledge of other people so that they can corner the money solely and to cause mischief tomorrow. They are usually very aggressive, boastful and arrogant but the truth is that its a shield they wrap themselves in so that the buyer would trust them completely and transact business with them alone. The most painful part is that they have no care or remorse when they dupe people off their hard earned money when they resell these lands or stop people from working after they have collected money.

This is the reason most Land fraudsters hate me because i would continue to investigate it deeply, annoy them, make noise about the potential transaction and make sure everything is done in the open. One way or the other the truth would come out and shame them. May we pray not to fall victim of land fraudsters this 2017 especially in this recession period where money is hard to come by. Everybody shine your eye and investigate any land purchase. Everybody eye de chook for money now so no fall maga for these people unless na One chance you don enter o!

What Job? Arrest him? Prosecuting him? There are only 2 things i can do. Warn people and ban him and i did both so many times and he launched an assault against me with his minions. Have you asked why he has so many handles? Its because they have been banned over and over again. What was the proof that he stole their money until someone decided to prosecute him? Yes i did. I have so many threads about these issues and if you go through them you would see i never supported these things. I was helpless because most of the people he defrauded preferred to deal with the issue privately and he had a lot of supporters here castigating me when ever i try to point it out. I have banned him so many times but he keeps coming up with new monikers. How do i keep up apart from warning people. Besides these crimes where committed outside Nairaland and i had no jurisdiction to interfere but anyone who calls me or mails me about Brabus i would refer them to all the complains on Nairaland and ask them to take their own personal decision.

Yes the same Bosun aka Brabus or n3xt on Nairaland. He is extremely controversial and has the most complains i have ever seen on Nairaland about theft, misuse of funds and poor delivery of work. Everyday people call me to ban him or help them get their money but nemesis has finally caught up with him. A 37-year-old estate agent, Bosun Shoyoye, who allegedly stole N5 million was yesterday arraigned before a Lagos Magistrate’s court at Igbosere. The defendant, who resides at Imedu Awoyaya, in Eti-Osa Local Government in Lagos is facing a two-count charge of conspiracy and theft. The prosecutor, SP Eshiet Eshiet, told the court that the defendant committed the alleged offence in September at Ibeju Lekki area of Lagos State. He further told the court that the defendant stole the N5 million from one Adebayo Adegbola under the guise that he was a reputable project manager, and that he had handled several estates projects for several people, which he knew to be false. According to Eshiet, the offence committed was contrary and punishable under Section 312, 267 and 285 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011. However, the defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge and the magistrate, Miss Olanike Olagbinde, granted him N500,000 bail with two sureties in like sum. The case was adjourned to December 15 for mention.

This is big news. This issue has been cropping up for years and Bosun aka Brabus has been dodging every question to answer those aggrieved and became even more arrogant. A very simple answer to this question is that a power of attorney is not a good root of title and it only lasts for 12months while a deed of assignment conveniently transfers title to you because it contains the parties to the transaction, the amount, location and description of the property, covenants among the parties, indemnity clause(s) and signature of the parties executing the contract.

If anybody comes to my office to sell a property brandishing a Power of attorney as the title to the property i would tear it into pieces and fling it out of my window.

He did not provide any kind of economic marshal plan to move Nigeria forward but was busy playing Ludo with the CBN governor banning forex today, restricting forex tomorrow, banning importation of everything without granting manufacturers any option on how to do it themselves rather it was a competition to win the award of "who can blame GEJ/PDP the most". By the time Buhari selected Ministers to hit the ground as promised in their campaigns, the economy was already finished with no one to guide it properly.

Today all of them in APC both on social media and in Government have realized that they have messed up and Nigerians are turning on them. Its now they realize they are in power and are feebly trying to fix the damage they caused which would be very difficult because they were not prepared to govern in the first place talk less of being expert managers of the economy. Stopping Omoniles can never work in Lagos. There is an Unholy alliance between Tinubu and these bastards. Omonile goes beyond urchins and thugs. I am no supporter of Buhari. In fact i think he is the worst thing to happen to Nigeria since independence economically but i would never wish him dead. The area is simply an Investment opportunity for Nigerians to invest and own lands near a Refinery at the free trade zone Ibeju Lekki. That's not true. The PDP NWC in Port Harcourt has just sworn in Senator Markafi as Caretaker PDP Chairman and Senator Ben Obi as Caretaker PDP National Secretary for 3 months until the new PDP Convention takes place after 3 months.

The aim is to elect a permanent Chairman and National leaders in 90 days to help conduct and organize a new PDP Convention and not as Contestants. The aim is to prevent what happened today when Ali Modu Sheriff wanted to transmit from a Caretaker to a permanent chairman.

I happened to be one of those that worked as MTN adhoc staff during the sim-reg itch. Now when we were told that our contract had expired on 28th of Feb, well some persons left, but I and few other, abt 3 of us decided to keep working , though we were told we will nt be paid anymore.

For example i spend 20 liters daily on my car to shuttle between Mainland and Lekki. I suffer at least 2 hours of Traffic inside heat so the A/C must be on. If i buy Fuel now for N145 per litre, that means i spend N87,000 a month on Fuel in my car. (Where i wan see am?)

When i get home i must buy at least 10 litres every day for the home Generator. That's N43,500 in a month Making a total of N130,500 a month on Fuel. Let me not add the 20liters per day i buy to run my office generator o!

I have not added cost of food, Fashola's (aka Minister of Darkness) new high increment in Nepa bills, taxes, food, inflation on every damn thing and miscellaneous expenses.

Why then would Nigerians not be Fantastically Corrupt to survive when Buhari's Government only understands Increment, taxes, tolls, pain and suffering and the minimum wage is N18,000 per month while they rejected just 2 weeks ago to increase workers wages. APC lied that if Buhari wins the election, Fuel would be N40 per litre. Little did we know they meant N145 per litre. Every single thing Buhari met in May 2015 has increased 100% just under one year.

We could live with his bland and vapid economic policies but why compound it with an 80% increase from N86 to N145? This is beyond heartless and cruel. Nobody deserves this kind of wickedness. Even convicted Murders don't deserve this kind of suffering talk less of hard working Nigerians.

Since May 29 2015 almost everyone i know has complained that Business has been bad and their wallets are getting slimmer. No economic improvement or sign of better things to come. Rather its one propaganda or the other about how Minister A chop money or Governor F Stole $100 billion meanwhile the hard working Nigerians who have nothing to do with it are getting hungrier everyday and starving because there is no economic blue print but out of the blues ..BOOM!!! N145 per liter. Pay it or jump into the Lagoon.

To you guys abroad supporting the wicked policies of Buhari on twitter or Facebook, don't think you are exempt from it. The families/relatives you left behind in Nigeria are going to suffer it too and you would be getting daily calls from Nigeria for you to send Western Union because "Hunger they catch them". The money you intended to use to do something good or feed your family would finally end up in a petrol station in Lagos till you finally get fed up.

Bottomline is that music these days is all about commercialization. People invest in these artists and they expect to get their returns back. People pay for studio time, music videos, producers, directors, cd printing, managers, dj, vjs, lawyers, managers etc and its costs a lot of money to produce a single song. If at the end of the day they have to sing low quality songs that people like to get their returns so be it. Are you the one feeding their families or paying for all the things i listed above? Please free Olamide and Davido. As long as people are ready to dance "Shoki and Aiye" all the day long, Nigerians are fine with the thrash they sing.

Besides with all the fuel scarcity and Hardship Nigerians are facing daily, who wants to listen to melodious Dare Art Alade Song now to add to my sorrows? I would rather listen to a thrashy "shakiti bobo" song that would make me forget my problems.

What is wrong in Omotola's husband going to the market on behalf of her family? Are they not married? What are Buhari supporters trying to defend here? The Lagos-Calabar Railway was NEVER INCLUDED in the Budget presented. So why would you remove something that was never there in the first instance? Even if you discuss it privately with Amaechi and all the NASS members, as long as it wasn't in the initial padded Budget, there is no need to spread lies that it was removed or SS/SE Senators did not fight to get the railway included in the budget. It was never included in the first place. All these lies and propaganda must stop. Its getting to much and it reeks of desperation of an unpopular government.

If the budget wasn't initially padded from the beginning to steal billions of Naira secretly, all these back and forth of the budget won't be there in the first place. The sheer level of corruption and mind boggling sums of Money that was to be voted and padded to these Ministries is unbelievable coming from a Government claiming to to fight an Anti corruption war and we thank the NASS for exposing these corruption Buhari wanted to unleash on the Masses through his first Budget presented in December 2015

I also saw a picture of Buhari and Osibanjo studing the new budget and APC media stupidly made it viral as if they were doing us a favour. Have they forgotten so soon that Buhari just 4 months ago presented to the NASS and whole world the most fraudulent budget ever in the midst of media noisemaking, pomp and pageantry. Buhari presented that corruption ridden budget HIMSELF and called it a "BUDGET OF CHANGE". When the budget was discovered to be a fraud, sham and www.budgetit.com exposed their hypocrisy, Buhari secretly withdrew the Budget which led to issue of the missing budget. Today APC and Buhari are now pretending as if they did not present a budget of yams but are patting themselves on the back for reviewing the new budget before it is signed.

Buhari is like a student who presented his homework to his teacher and the teacher discovered he cheated and returned his homework back him to redo it but this time, he is letting the whole world know he is redoing his home work and should be applauded for it.
