Olugbenger:
The powerful alumni doesn't add up to the fact that ABU still lags behind UI, OAU, UNN, UNILAG and even UNIBEN in educational standards.
You know how backward and slow in growth the north is( where ABU is located) and ABU is the only school in the same league with others i mentioned though with variations respresenting a zone as large as the north where the political power has been evolving for years. I hope that explains the alumni strength. ABU is a nice school too but don't push your stakes too far.
Typical short-circuited brain thinking!

PoliticsShed No Christian Blood, By Mohammed El-kanemy [sheikh Of Borno] by LeStylo(op): 4:10pm On Dec 09, 2013
PRAISE BE TO GOD, AND PRAYERS AND PEACE BE UNTO THE APOSTLE OF GOD (MOHAMMED).
To the honoured and accomplished, the virtuous and munificent, the pattern of goodness and the standard of benevolence, head of the Soodanic kingdon, and ruler of the country of Hausa, our friend, the learned Mohammed Bello, son of the intelligent sheikh Ossman, whose soul may God shelter with the clouds of mercy and peace.
Our salutation, accompanied with affection as strong as the odour of musk, and as perpetual as the movement of the globe, and with the mercy and blessings of God, be unto you.
Hence, the cause of writing this letter and the purpose of its lines, is to acquaint you that the bearers are English travelers; whose nation, out of all the other Christians, has maintained with the Mooslemeen uninterrupted treaties of religious amity and friendship, established since ancient periods, which they inherited from their forefathers and ancestors; and on this account, they penetrate into Mooslemeen [moslem] countries whenever they please, and traverse all provinces and lands in confidence and trust, without fear.
They came to our country, sent to us by our virtuous and accomplished friend, the Lord Yousuf Pasha, master of Tripoli, to see and delight themselves with the wonders of the Land of Soodan [sudan], and to become acquainted with its rarities, as lakes, rivers, and forests (or gardens) ; equal to which are seldom seen in other countries.
After having accomplished their wishes, in seeing all the things that the land of Barnooh (Borno) and its environs contained, they felt anxious to visit your country from what they heard of the innumerable wonders therein. I have, therefore, permitted them to proceed on their journey, accompanying them with letters which explain their object.
You are well aware of what is stated in Alcoraanic [koranic] sayings upon the subject of the obervance of honour, dictated by our Lord, the Apostle of God; and that the true Mooslemeen have always avoided shedding the blood of Christians, and assisted and protected them with their honour. Be then attentive to these travelers, and cast them not into the corners of neglect; let no one hurt them, either by words or deeds, nor interrupt them with any injurious behavior: but let them return to us, safe, and may the high God bestow upon you the best reward for your treatment to them, and insure to us and to you the path of righteousness for conduct in this life.
Our salutation may be given to all who are about you, and to those who are related to you in general. And peace be unto you.
(Sealed)

MOHAMMED EL-AMEEN EEN MOHAMMED EL-KANEMY, the then Sheikh Of Borno sent this letter to the then Sultan Mohammed Bello of Sokoto dated 23rd of Rabee-ul-thani, 1238; (Corresponding to January, 1824). It is made available by Aminu Gamawa.

Kx: The West is d problem. I donot see them supporting anything that will reduce or limit their interest.

I was shocked watching Aljazeera prog of Mandela this morning and saw Mag Thacther's interview where she said
Britain was against Mandela's ANC because it was a violent group. That was in the heat of the Botha's aparteid regime.

Nigeria wake up, unless we take "measures" as a people to fight this suffering imposed on us by bad leadership, ...i dont know what might be the fate of children yet unborn.

Here's what mandela said on why he took to violence
""I and some colleagues came to the conclusion that as violence in this country was inevitable, it would be wrong and unrealistic for African leaders to continue preaching peace and non-violence at a time when the government met our peaceful demands with force. It was only when all else had failed, when all channels of peaceful protest had been barred to us, that the decision was made to embark on violent forms of political struggle." - Nelson Mandela-Statement at the opening of his defence in the Rivonia treason trial, April 20, 1964.
Thank you sir.
It might interest you to know that it was after Johannes Savimbi's death that the truth of the huge support he was receiving form the US for engaging in a traumatizing civil war against his country for 27 long years was exposed. This is the reality, as long as your interest is a threat to Western prosperity, you are a threat. Subtly or brazenly! And the end, of course, justifies the means - Always!

[quote author=Mayor_of_Lagos]That is impossible. International airports have multiple runways for precisely that reason. If a runway is unusable there usually are two parallel sets aligned N-S and E-W to give airlift assist with tailwind for departing and headwind for landing. So at minimum there will be four. If one is blocked what happened to other three?[/quote]Only MMIA has twin runways of standard. Abuja has got only one just like every other Airport in Nigeria. Same runway used for take-off and landing. So much about Airport upgrade. undecided lipsrsealed

ROSSIKE: Africa has to unite into one single political entity like China, and stop taking all these insults. China's population is TWICE that of Africa, yet they have one govt, one army, one constitution, and one central control of their resources. Their entire land is free of all foreign influence.

Can you imagine a ''Summit for Human Rights In China'' held in Frankfurt, presided over by the German prime minister Angela Merkel, with UN officials, Chinese leaders and Europeans in attendance?

Never in a million years.

Why can't we unite and stop taking these insults?

With one single African govt, THEY will have to come to US to negotiate.

Africa is the world's richest continent in terms of natural resources. Europe is the least endowed. What the hell are African leaders doing boarding flights to Europe to seek ''peace in Africa''? It really should be the other way round!

Jarus: Again, I have not said PDP G7-2 governors defected to APC because of Nigeria, and not because of personal interests. But truth is, we need them. We just cannot do it alone, forget about all our rantings and pontification. Gani tried in 2003. We have tried it with Buhari/Nuhu Ribadu, in 2011, we cannot go alone. Whether it is Pat Utomi or Fashola, or even Pius Adesanmi, I think we will be deceiving ourselves to think we can go alone against these established professional politicians. We need alliances, even with these hawks. They can be reformed after all. All our new breed mantra will not reach anywhere. Before now, I had actually washed my hands off active national politics - after fruitless efforts in 2011 that saw me independently lead a team of online volunteers to sponsor radio jingles in 7 different radio stations across Lagos, Oyo, Osun and Rivers states. Maybe this new developments will reactivate my self-imposed apathy.
Jarus, for the umpteenth time, you speak my mind! We do need these alliances. The urge to do it differently in APC is already infectious and even if APC fails us, we would have boldly written that Nigerians needed to be satisfied with what poli-trick-cians call dividends of democracy or get booted out! Impunity will be trimmed. That was how Ghana go-ed it!

A girl stopped me at MKO Abiola gardens near tears. She claimed to be a house-girl and lost the N1,000 she was sent on errand with. Her madam is very stern and will beat her blablabla...
I saw she was clutching some N100 bills already and assumed a N400 should do, i gave her and moved on.

A week later, i saw her at the junction to my office with same story line, a lady had open her purse and was about to give her something when i stopped her. I threatened to call in the police if i see her a minute longer. That was when her accomplice, a young girl too, came from hiding and they scampered away in fear!

They couldn't have been more than 12-yrs old sad

The longer people stay in traffic, the more money are wasted is fuel burnt. This leads to increase in the price of goods in the state. But with a moving traffic, price of goods will be stable

commended a citizen who got the video of the LASTMA officer caught negotiating bribe inside a citizen’s car, noting that the officer, who negotiated bribes, had been declared wanted.According to him, we must all nail and shame him. We must all use that kind of medium to fish out all the bad eggs in the society and bring them to justice. The officer is still on the run, but we have declared him wanted. I can assure you today that we will get him. As soon as we do, we will give him all his rights, and he will have his days in court

Remove your kids to a public school to feel the pains of the kids that attend such schools then. Too bad, you are only a kid yourself and have absolutely no sense of history to know we had had better days in this very country in the past. I only hope and pray things get back in shape. It would be disastrous for the future generation if Babangida's or Obasanjo's "regime" is the best of good time they ever witnessed all their lives.

IslamThe Historical Significance Of ‘ashura by LeStylo(op): 5:08pm On Nov 13, 2013
Mu’awiyah ibn Abu Sufyan (Radiyallahu 'anh) relates: I heard the Messenger of Allah (Subhanahu wa Ta'ala) say: "It is the day of ‘Ashura. Allah (Subhanahu wa Ta'ala) has not made fasting obligatory for you. But I am fasting. He who likes to observe fast among you should do so, and he who likes not to observe it (does not have to) observe it." [Sahih Muslim]

Abu Qatada (Radiyallahu 'anh) relates that the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu ‘alayhi wa Sallam) said that the fast on the 10th of Muharram atones for the sins of the preceding year. [Sahih Muslim]

Abu Huraira (Radiyallahu 'anh) reports that the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu ‘alayhi wa Sallam) said that after Ramadan, the fasts of Muharram have the greatest excellence. [Sahih Muslim]

Alhamdulillah, Allah (Subhanahu wa Ta'ala) has blessed us to see another year. The first month of this year is Muharram. In this month is an excellent day—the day of ‘Ashura—which falls on the 10th of Muharram. The Holy Prophet (Sallallahu ‘alayhi wa Sallam) recommended that we fast on this day, by his Sunnah. He also indicated how we should observe the fast of ‘Ashura.

Hakam ibn Al-Arat (Radiyallahu 'anh) relates: I went to Ibn Abbas (Radiyallahu 'anh)… I said to him: Tell me about fasting on ‘Ashura. He said, "When you seen the new moon of Muharram count the (days) and (begin to) observe fast on the 9th." I said to him: "Is it how the Holy Messenger of Allah (Sallallahu ‘alayhi wa Sallam) observed the fast?" He said, "Yes." [Sahih Muslim]

Hazrat Ibn Abbas (Radiyallahu 'anh) relates that when the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu ‘alayhi wa Sallam) said: "If I survive till next year, I will definitely observe fast on the 9th of Muharram (as well)." [Sahih Muslim]

(Note: What the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu ‘alayhi wa Sallam) meant was that he would also fast on the 9th as well as the 10th to which he was accustomed. We also should try fasting on the 9th and the 10th of Muharram.)

Hazrat Ibn Abbas (Radiyallahu 'anh) reports that the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu ‘alayhi wa Sallam) arrived in Madinah and found the Jews observing fast on the day of ‘Ashura… They said: "It is the day of great (significance) when Allah delivered Hazrat Musa ('Alaihis-Salaam) and his people and drowned Pharoah and his people, and Sayyidina Musa ('Alaihis-Salaam) observed fast out of gratitude. And we also observe it." The Holy Messenger of Allah (Sallallahu ‘alayhi wa Sallam) responded: "We have more right, and we have closer connection with Sayyidina Musa ('Alaihis-Salaam) than you have"; so Allah’s Messenger (Sallallahu ‘alayhi wa Sallam) observed fast (on the day of ‘Ashura) and gave us orders to observe it. [Sahih Bukhari and Muslim]

‘Ashura is a day of great historical significance. On this day: Allah (Subhanahu wa Ta'ala) accepted the repentance of Sayyidina Adam ('Alaihis-Salaam) after his exile from Paradise; Allah (Subhanahu wa Ta'ala) saved Sayyidina Nuh ('Alaihis-Salaam) and his companions in the ark; Allah extinguished the fire in which Sayyidina Ibrahim ('Alaihis-Salaam) was thrown by Nimrod; And Allah (Subhanahu wa Ta'ala) spoke directly to Sayyidina Musa ('Alaihis-Salaam) and gave him the Commandments. On this same 10th of Muharram, Sayyidina Ayyub ('Alaihis-Salaam) was restored to health (from leprosy); Sayyidina Yusuf ('Alaihis-Salaam) was reunited with his father Ya’qub ('Alaihis-Salaam); Sayyidina Yunus ('Alaihis-Salaam) was taken out from the belly of the fish; and the sea was divided as the nation of israel was delivered from captivity and Pharoah’s army was destroyed. ‘Ashura is also the day when Sayyidina Dawud ('Alaihis-Salaam) was forgiven; the kingdom of Sulaiman ('Alaihis-Salaam) was restored; Sayyidina Isa ('Alaihis-Salaam) was raised to Jannah and Sayyidina al-Husayn (Radiyallahu 'anh) (the Holy Prophet’s, Sallallahu ‘alayhi wa Sallam, grandson) achieved the honor of Martyrdom.1

Worship Allah (Subhanahu wa Ta'ala) as much as you can on ‘Ashura. Whoever fasts on this day is like one who fasts all his life. Whoever clothes a naked person Allah (Subhanahu wa Ta'ala) will release him from a painful punishment. He who visits a sick person, Allah (Subhanahu wa Ta'ala) will grant him a reward that will not be decreased. Whoever places his hand on an orphan’s head, or feeds a hungry person or gives water to a thirsty man, Allah will feed him a feast from Paradise and will quench his thirst with Salsabil (a wine that does not intoxicate). And who ever takes a Ghusl on this day will enjoy excellent health and freedom from sickness and indolence. Whoever provides generously for his family on this day, Allah (Subhanahu wa Ta'ala) will be generous to him throughout this year. And whoever applies Kuhl to his eyes will never suffer from eye-sore again, inSha’Allah al-Aziz.2

O’ Allah! Bless us to perform good deeds and gain their reward on ‘Ashura. Make the new year one of unity, cooperation and success for Muslims in this city and around the world.
Ameen.
