ayinba1: It is sad that innocent people have suffered in this heinous act. We muslims do not support the harm done to innocent people by muslims or non muslims. For those wishing ill on Islam and all muslims, it is a shame that you cannot see what Islam preaches versus what some people who are muslims do.

Wishing all muslims dead is not any better than what these people have done. The hatred in your hearts is just a step away from a terror act.
May the good Lord comfort those who have suffered losses on both sides of the crisis, amen.
Indeed if Islam truly preaches violence, armed with a population of well over 1billion, nobody will need suicide attacks to totally eliminate non-muslims. It's a shame that the perpetrators actually account for only a minute hopeless percentage of the whole muslim population, less than 0.1% angry

kokoA: you have made a very sensible comment devoid of the usual "gutter criticism" of nairalanders. I respect you for that. But you must understand that the fact that the yoruba and hausa governors never criticised their OBJ and UMY doesn't make Uduaghan right. Change must start from somewhere. Amaechi may not be the needed face of change but the fact remains that what he said up there is 100 percent true. We must learn to tell our politicians the truth irrespective of where they come from or what language they speak.

agbameta: Sadly enough, the morally bankrupt and incompetent losers budget funds for these facilities every year. In fact, this particular National infrastructure is so fvukeddd up that they rent out portions of this stadium for beer pallor, boutiques and other rubbish while the folks in charge look the other way unconcerned.

Last year, Lagos state hosted the National sports festival and not a single part of the event was hosted at this facility, in fact, our National team is still homeless, they don't have any home stadium and this is why some international soccer teams dodge any kind of engagement in Nigeria.

The so called giant of Africa without a functioning National stadium....

What a cruel shame..
In November 2011, Taoheed Adedoja, former sports minister visited the stadium and promised renovation that funds have been released for that prupose. Scaffolds were rolled to the indoor sports unit... the scaffolds were still there few weeks ago when i passed by sad angry But nothing has changed except the increasing level of rot and hoodlums using the facilities.

[b]Reading the comments here have validated my long held view that white gay people are the most prejudice and racist of white folk. During colonisation majority of the colonial workers were gay folks that found life hard in the UK. Nigerians are still traumatised by the wanton male rape that took place in Nigeria by colonial office workers from the 30s to the 50s. No wonder why they have sought to legislate against gay sex. Read the account of Harold Smith a British colonial attachee that spent time in Nigeria in the 1950s and 60s. Have you racists ever thought that in the same way that you want everyone to agree with your sick and immoral lifestyle that I have a right to disagree? The same way I detest heterosexual folks who choose to live a lifestyle of promiscuity? Have you ever thought that I could think of your lifestyle as sick and immoral yet not love you as a person? I have a right to disagree. Same way you have a right to want me to agree. If this dude was white, the comments here would be totally different. For those who claim to know it all, I guess your European/White genius did not save you from the economic meltdown did it? Would you be where you are without the theft of all of Africa’s resources (both human and material )over hundreds of years? Most Western countries are copying the regulatory methods implemented by countries like ….surprise! Nigeria that avoided the meltdown. Despite Boko Haram and kidnappings record numbers of Westerners still flock to her shores. Why? because your greedy asses know that the opportunities are no longer in the West! Your McKinsey, KPMG and Ernst and Young predicted that by 2020 Nigeria will surpass South Africa as the largest economy on the continent. PoliticsRe: Buhari Versus Buhari by LeStylo: 10:57am On Sep 11, 2013
AskProf: "Buhari is one of the
cleanest men I have ever
met in my life. If
anybody wants me to
dislike Buhari, such
person should give me an example of his
corruption. I will run
away from him totally.
But right now, there is
no evidence. On the
contrary, the more they attack him on this issue
of corruption, the more
they are making him
Gold bier. I will give two
examples. One,
Babangida thought Buhari was making a lot
of money on counter
trading, so he set up two
independent bodies to
investigate counter
trading. One of the bodies was headed by
J.K. Randle, while the
second was headed by
Prof. Aboyade of blessed
memory. None of them
found anything against Buhari. None. I attested
before the two bodies.
Great Aboyade
commission was digging
into Buhari’s counter
trading, J.K. Randle, who’s still alive, did the
same thing. But both of
them produced reports
that showed that
counter trading was so
clean and was making so much money for Nigeria.
Then two, soon after
Obasanjo was sworn in,
there was a social
function for him in Lagos
or so, then surprisingly, some people tried to
praise Buhari, Obasanjo
said: ‘don’t praise him, I
have not probed him.’ It
was after that incident
that Obasanjo set up Dr. Haroun’s probe panel of
the Petroleum Trust
Fund (PTF). Haroun
probed PTF inside out.
Buhari was discovered
to be as clean as snow. You know, why he
agreed to be the head of
PTF was not to condone
what Abacha was doing
then, but he saw it as a
way of serving the country and he did well.
I have the record.
Haroun came out and
said PTF account was
audited every year while
Federal Government account was not audited
in 36 years. You know
Babangida detained
Buhari for 40months
after he overthrew him.
Buhari’s mother died while he was in
detention and as a
Muslim, I expected
Babangida to rise above
politics and allow Buhari
to go bury his mother. If he was released, I am
sure he wouldn’t have
run away. Buhari was
not allowed to go bury
his mother. But in the
night after the woman was buried, Babangida
released Buhari. His son
died, the same thing
happened. Anyway,
after Buhari came out of
detention, he told Babangida to tell the
world about his
corruption. The records
are there. The same
thing happened with the
PTF. He told Obasanjo to publish the report of the
panel, but Obasanjo
could not publish it
because it was a
certificate of honour for
Buhari. If that Haroun’s report had any page in it
that indicted Buhari,
Obasanjo would have
used that to disqualify
Buhari from contesting
against him. Buhari is clean. He is not corrupt.
To show how Buhari
loves Nigeria, he doesn’t
like spending Nigerian
money frivolously. When
he overthrew Shehu Shagari, Buhari never
changed any chair or
curtain in Dodan
Barracks. Buhari used
what Shagari was using
until he left. As minister, our total pocket money
under Buhari was N200
per month. You could
spend less than N200
without accounting for
it, but anything above N200, you must account
for it. When he increased
the money to N250, we
clapped for him at the
executive council.
Now, as a former governor of the defunct
north-eastern state,
former minister of
petroleum, former head
of state, former
executive chairman of PTF, Buhari has no house
in Abuja. If he goes to
Abuja, he stays in a
private hotel. He has no
house either uphill or
downhill, apart from his house in Kaduna." …
- Prof. Tam David West.
In addition, same IBB inherited Prof Tam David West from GMB. He was accused of receiving a Rolex wristwatch from a foreigner and sentenced to 10yrs imprisonment. That was how frustrated the IBB govt was in search of ANYTHING incriminating against the Buhari-led govt. That opened the floodgates of corruption in the oil sector. Prof David West was not released until 1992 after 7yrs.! - Culled from SOLDEIRS OF FORTUNE Pg189 - By Max Soillun.

Mr. Afolabi Adewole Jimoh is the controversial Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate in Offa Local Government in the last Saturday’s re-run election in Kwara State. He came out in the open to counter his party’s claim that he won in the poll. He had since become the first in the Nigerian political history to refuse a freely given victory in an election, throwing away the sumptuous spoils of a political office even when others would stop at nothing to grab such opportunity, rightly or wrongly given.

Though PDP later disowned him on the grounds that he had ceased to be its member and was no more a candidate in the election, his name still featured in the Kwara State Independent Electoral Commission (KWASIEC) list of candidates for the election.

But the PDP’s main rival in the poll, the All Progressives Congress (APC) will not take kindly to the claim, as it clutches the official list of the KWASIEC to prove that it actually won in the council election.

The matter has since become more dramatic with the PDP parading another person in the name of Kanarudeen Olagunju Olalekan whose name is said not to feature on the KWASIEC list for the election but who PDP would want to claim the rejected victory.

Jimoh’s victory rejection declaration

“ I am Afolabi Adewole Jimoh, the candidate of PDP in the last Saturday’s election for Shawo South West ward. In all the eight polling units in my ward (Shawo SouthWest) the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) lost, while All Progressives Congress (APC) won convincingly in all the polling units in the rerun election held on 31st of August, 2013. As a citizen of this great town of Offa, I know full well that the town stands for equity and justice. To me, I know that we shall give account of all our acts on this earth one day.

“On that day there will be no influence from anybody, be it Oba, governor, leader, elder, father or mother, you will be left alone with your deeds. In this wise, I have resolved not be partaker of getting what is not mine from anybody at all. In Offa, in Kwara state and in Nigeria as whole. As a native of this town, I don’t wish my town a bad thing. If something like this continues to happen and we decide to cover it up for one reason or the other, if not now, in future we surely account for it.

“It is very good for us to call a spade a spade anywhere we see it. By doing this you are helping yourself and others. In the interest of peace and justice in Offa and Kwara state, KWSIEC should release the authentic results of the last Saturday council poll in Offa.

“The people of Offa have said that they don’t want PDP. It is clear that Offa people want APC. It is clear also that Offa people don’t want PDP. The election is a test for both APC and PDP. Test for PDP to right the wrongs by checking out what it is that the people don’t want in PDP. What is it that they (PDP) have been doing that make the people hate them. For the APC that won, it should check itself and examine what it has been doing that makes it acceptable in Offa.”

His encounter with Sunday Mirror:
But the way you speak, how are we sure you are not an APC agent planted in the PDP, paid to do this hatchet job to discredit the PDP, the opponent of APC?

I am not paid and I am never a member of APC. I did not collect money from anybody to do what I am doing now. APC people are here; ask them if I collect anything from them. I am a Muslim and I know the teaching of our prophet, Mohammed (SAW). He said we should not take what does not belong to us. I did not win that election and they announced that I won. PDP did not win in my unit and in all the units in Shawo South West ward. I advise every other person to have the fear of god and come out to say the truth., I don’t have money but I know money will come when God wants mew to have. People should fear God please. So that is my own.

Are you not afraid of what could happen to you the way you have come to expose things during the election?

No, I am not afraid. I am not afraid of anybody but Almighty Allah. He is the one who gives us life and will take it, when it pleases Him. He’s a big liar, says PDP

However, at a press conference addressed by the PDP to counter Jimoh’s claims, Kamarudeen Olagunju was paraded by Prince Yemi Afolayan, Secretary of the PDP who said Jimoh had for two years defected from the party and so could not have been PDP’s candidate in the re-run election. Olagunju who looked uncomfortable throughout the press briefing, was taken up by journalists at the end of the conference and it went thus:

What is your name?

My name is Olalekan Kamarudeen. The councillor for Shawo South West. There is a contention that you are not the PDP candidate for this election? I am the PDP candidate for the election.

When did you become the candidate?

As from—– (looks confused and could not remember but an official of the state PDP interjected by and answered for him…“He is not the one that should answer that question. The Offa L.G PDP chairman should answer that question.”

One Alhaji Rabiu Goke who is the Offa LG chairman then quipped and said, “With the direction of the PDP Exco, we were given a directive that we should quickly conduct primaries. He contested for that position among the executives in the ward and he came first. That is how he became the flagbearer of the party in that election. Then, the series of questions continued:

In the list of councilors which you displayed, during the election was his name there?

Rabiu Goke: Yes.

We have a statement from APC that the name of the person there (KWASIEC list) is Mr. Afolabi Jimoh Olawole, the man that rejected his victory?

Rabiu Goke: No. No. It is not true. When KWASIEC displayed the list, we wrote to them through the state secretary of the party that they should make the necessary corrections immediately. They said based on the judgment given to them, they could not alter the names. Then, other journalists on hand threw more questions at Kamarudeen:

You were adjudged the winner of that election. What did you score? How many votes did you score?

Kamarudeen:…..(He remained silence) The PDP state officer then interjected and said; “He cannot take the questions. Go to KWASIEC. He is not the person that should answer that question.” And he herded Kamaruldeen away.
