God forbid you doing that! NEVER! You must rise above their disaffection with you; you must prove you are better than what they think of you, and your love and honour for your parents must remain. Take such thought out of your mind because of US Visa. Your parents are coming back to you. Let God take care of how they have used the parental honour to reject you.
You proposed idea will not work; in fact, it will make you look desperate at the embassy, and the consular who will interview you may not even check the newspaper. You caused this issue. That is why I wanted us to talk personally--adult-to-adult, off this forum!
Be strong!

It is painful to see parents do this to their own son. You made your choice and since it wouldn't be right for them to choose for you, they should know better. I will not lie to you, their appearance on your application will not be favourable. A few students from this forum has reached out to me on something like this. All of them got denied, even after 3rd appearance.
Supposing I publish an advert on a National Newspaper disowning my parents stating these reasons, and then attach it along with my application to show the V.O that I do not have anything to do with my parents because I don't want their actions to affect me my chances of getting an education in America. Do you think it will sell? Do you think it will make the V.O judge my case for I am, and not my parents?

As a direct family member you can't say you don't know their status ...... So prepare for that questions as it might come up.
Actually my reason of stating that I don't know their status is because throughout this year, ever since I got married to my wife, my parents cut contact and relationship with me. They were never in support of the woman I married, thus that's why I have only done intro, and court marriage.

Secondly, before they decided not to return back to Nigeria, my Uncle who's a citizen have agreed to file for them a green card. I don't know what status I will call them considering the fact that I have not been in communication with them for a while now, and I don't know how things are going for them there.

Do you think this genuine reason is enough for the V.O? This is the only reason I have.

Hello all,

Please I have submitted my DS-160 form, booked for an appointment which will be on the 5th of December, and I will be attending Touro College New York City.

I have some few questions that are quite disturbing me and I see them as issues that may affect my chances, that's why I want to discuss here with anybody here that is willing give me sound advises.

My parents are old and have retired in the US with my Uncle who is citizen, but my parents don't have papers and are not working there. I want to know if this can affect my chances of getting a student visa?

I am married but with no Child yet. In my application I indicated that my parents are in US but I don't their status. Is this also ok?

Thank you very much.
PoliticsUS: Nigeria Has Imported 3million MT Of Rice In 2018 by lextube(op): 9:33am On Nov 07, 2018
United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) World Markets and Trade Report‎ has said Nigeria under President Muhammadu Buhari is importing more rice than during previous administrations.
Recently, Buhari himself made boasted when he said to British Prime Minister, Theresa May on April 16, 2018 as follows:

“We have cut rice importation by about 90%, made lots of savings of foreign exchange, and generated employment. People had rushed to the cities to get oil money, at the expense of farming. But luckily, they are now going back to the farms.

Even professionals are going back to the land. We are making steady progress on the road to food security.”

This claim was also made by the minister of agriculture, Chief Audu Ogbeh, who on May 2, 2018 said as follows:

“Unemployment in Thailand was one of the lowest in the world, 1.2 per cent, it has gone up to four per cent because seven giant rice mills have shut down because Nigeria’s import has fallen by 95 per cent on rice alone”.

On several occasions, the Buhari administration has bragged that their biggest achievement is reducing Nigeria’s dependence on foreign rice.

Putting lies to the Presidential claims, Atiku Presidential Campaign Organisation said: “However, recently released data from the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) World Markets and Trade Report have proven these claims by President Muhammadu Buhari and his government to be false.‎”

It said, “According to the World Markets and Trade Report of the USDA, which is a public document, Nigeria imported three million metric tonnes of rice in 2018, which is 400,000 metric tonnes more than the quantity of the product imported in 2017.

It does not end there.

“The report shows that there has actually been a steep drop in commercial rice production from its 2015 peak under the previous Peoples Democratic Party administration.

According to the report “Nigeria had consistently milled 3,780,000 metric tonnes annually – a drop from 3,941,000 metric tonnes recorded in 2015.”

The Atiku Presidential Campaign Organisation therefore wishes to appeal to President Buhari and his government to be truthful to the Nigerian public, rather than claim progress they have not made, because no matter how far and fast falsehood has travelled, it must eventually be overtaken by the truth.

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar will always be honest and transparent with the Nigerian people as he carries all citizens along in his mission to Get Nigeria Working Again.

I believe every intelligent person understood what Osita Chidoka was saying.

Of course PDP didn't start the Nigerian movie industry. But the PDP government helped grew the industry exponentially to what it is now. By creating the enabling environment, and policies, technology, and funding, the industry grew to the point whereby it now employs up to 1 million Nigerians, and generates up to $7bn annually.

It was also during the evolution of our local movie industry, under the PDP government, that the name Nollywood was coined.

This was what Osita Chidoka meant when he said PDP created Nollywood.

Please I have a question that's begging for answers.
I want to go for a Master's program during the spring admission in the U.S. I applied to 5 Universities, I got admission into 2 of the Universities, while 3 denied me admission. The 2 Universities I got admission into are private Universities with no funding.

I want to ask, is it possible for someone to get an f-1 visa with a form i-20 from a private University, even after being denied admission from other reputable Universities?

The issue of sevis fee, my Uncle in the US paid the fee via money order. I just want to know how it goes like how long do I have to wait before I get the receipt so that I can apply for Visa?
Thank you.
PoliticsFEC Approves Bills To Set Up Electoral Offences Commission, Others by lextube(op): 8:54pm On Sep 12, 2018
*worries over oil, agric revenues

*raises panel to probe Abuja earth tremors

By Chesa Chesa

As anxiety builds up towards the 2019 general elections, the Federal Executive Council (FEC) on Wednesday directed the Attorney-General Of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, to forward three bills on electoral reforms to the a National Assembly to enhance quick passage into law.

The bills are Constitution Alteration BIll, (2018); Electoral Act amendment BIll (2018); Electoral Offences Commission BIll (2018).

Briefing State House correspondents on the development after the FEC meeting chaired by President Muhammadu Buhari at the Aso Rock Villa, Malami said the President remained committed to strengthening the electoral process in the country.

The Minister recalled that this informed the setting up of the Ken Nnamani Electoral Reforms Committee, whose report, among others have given rise to the bills as well as the need to have permanent institutions to drive the reforms.

He explained that the administration intends to entrench accountability in the conduct of the elections and political parties affairs; ensure speedy resolution of pre-election matters and election disputes; impose stiffer penalties on electoral offenders.; as well as enhance the independence of Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) such that it is not subject to the directives or control of any authority.

The Minister of Budget and National Planning, Udoma Udo Udoma, briefed newsmen on the state of the economy during the year’s second quarter, disclosing that government is worried about dwindling performance and revenues from of the oil and agriculture sectors.

He said this was despite overall economic growth of 1.5 percent, including 2.05 percent growth recorded by the non-oil sector.

According to Udoma: “The economy grew by 1.5 percent in the second quarter but what is encouraging to Council is that non-oil sector has continued to grow. The non-oil sector grew by 2.05 percent and we are very encouraged by this. In fact this is consistent with the economic recovery and growth plan objectives.

“However council was a bit concerned about agriculture as well as crude oil, so we intend to intensify efforts in agriculture which has been affected by some of the insecurity in some parts of the country and some of the clashes which are now being contained.

“So, we expect agriculture to pick up again. We expect agriculture to go back to the three percent which we have been experiencing before. Then in terms of crude oil production, we are going to intensify work to get oil production back to over two million barrels a day.”

Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Mohammed Bello, announced that FEC approved the setting up a ministerial committee to investigate last week’s earth tremors in Mpape, Jabi, Gwarinpa, and Maitama districts of Abuja, with a view to monitoring the situation and ascertaining the causes and possible solutions.

The four-member committee will comprise of the Ministries of Science and Technology; Works and Housing; Mines and Solid Minerals Development; and the FCT.

He said the suspension of rock blasting and mining activities in the affected areas following the incidents, remains in force; while the Ministry of Works conducts structural test of buildings around the areas to ensure their integrity had not been compromised.

The suspension will be reviewed after the Committee submits its preliminary or comprehensive report, said the Minister who however, did not reveal the timeline for the submission of the report.

Nonetheless, Bello pointed out that the tremors were mild without loss of lives and damage to property; and assured residents that there is no cause for concern, especially as experts have determined that Abuja does not fall within geological zone prone to tremors or earthquakes.

*S/East lobbyists thrown off balance

By ChuksOnyema-Aziken and MykeUzendu

The on-going “battles” between some politicians from the South-East for the vice presidential slot of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in next year’s presidential election may have hit the rock as party leadership wants the South-Westzone to produce the occupant.

Already, PDP has zoned the presidential slot to the North, while lobbyists from the South-East working on the zoning arrangement in the party went to work seeking to grab the running mate slot.

But their dreamsare going awry as impeccable sources at the Wadata Plaza headquarters of the PDP informed The AUTHORITY that the current thinking in the National Working Committee (NWC) and other members and affiliates at the apex of the party management are no longer in that direction.

It was learnt that the PDP leadership is under pressure, especially from its patrons, especially retired military brass and former national leaders, to source its presidential running mate from the South-West or the South-South.

The rationale for this move, sources said, is because the South-East is no longer being regarded as a beautiful bride by the PDP.

We gathered that voters from the zone, by virtue of their widespread aversion to President MuhmamaduBuhari and the All Progressives Congress (APC), really have no other option than to vote for the PDP, especially as the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA), which would have been a ready alternative for them, is not likely to field a presidential candidate and is billed to support the incumbent president, who would be the candidate of the APC.
Also, the arithmetic of vote count towards winning the forthcoming presidential election does not favour a candidate from the South-East. Even as a vice presidential candidate, it has the least number of registered voters compared with other geopolitical zones.

For example, of the total 73,944,312 registered voters in Nigeria as of January 2018, the North-West geo-political zone has the highest number of 18,505,984 voters, while the South-East trails with 8,293,093 registered voters.

The South-West comes second with 14,626,800 registered voters; South-South is close with 11,101,093 registered voters. North-Central has 10,586,965 registered voters, while the North-East zone has 9,929,015 voters.
“In the crunch to win the elections, PDP is looking at where it can get the votes to enable it fare well.
“It is no longer a secret that up to four or more high-heeled politicians from the South-East have been knocking on every door across the country, lobbying to be picked as the running mate to any Northern candidate that would emerge as the PDP presidential flag-bearer,” a competent source told our reporters.

The Deputy Senate President, Senator Ike Ekweremadu;former governor of Anambra StatePeter Obi, as well as the former Adviser on Inter-Party Affairs to President Goodluck Jonathan,Chief Ben Ndi-Obi, have before now been positioning themselves for the running mate slot and are known to have been making high level contact though individuals and groups all over the country, to project their wishes to be picked.

Outside these three, there are also former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Prof. ChukwumaSoludo, who was rumoured last week to have attempted to drag AlhajiAtikuAbubakar to APGA, where he is a prominent stakeholder, and to contest from there, a story that has been stridently denied by the Atiku camp and APGA.
However, The AUTHORITY can authoritatively reveal that if Atiku is not picked as the PDP flagbearer, Soludo and like-minded people in Igboland will work for his adoption by APGA.

Another group of stakeholders are rooting for the President-General of the OhanaezeNdigbo,Chief NniaNwodo, as he is also being tipped and would mount serious campaign for Atiku to consider him as his running mate, if he picks the APGA ticket.

The PDP, The AUTHORITY learnt, believes that making further investments like a presidential running mate in the South-East would be an overkill, as it is the other zones where it regards as the “battle zones” that require such an attention.

“With or without a running mate, the South-East is a PDP wet ground any day”, our correspondent was told by top level sources in the PDP.

Presidential aspirants under the PDP platform include Atiku, former Governor of Kano State and serving Senator, RabiuMusa Kwankwaso; former Governor of Jigawa State and former Foreign Affairs Minister, SuleLamido; former Governor of Kano State and one-time Minister of Education, Ibrahim Shakarau, and former Governor of Kaduna State and erstwhile chairman of the PDP National Caretaker Committee, Ahmed Makarfi.

Others are the former Governor of Sokoto State, AttahiruBafarawa;incumbent Governor ofGombe State, Ibrahim Dankwambo; former Governor of Plateau State and serving Senator, David Jang; former Minister of Special Duties, TanimuTuraki, and a former member of the House of Representatives, AlhajiDatti Baba-Ahmed.

The late entrants are the incumbent Governor of Sokoto State and former Speaker of the House of Representatives, AminuTambuwal, and the Senate President, AbubakarBukolaSaraki. Saraki formally joined the race last Thursday.

Of the above, PDP sources said the only one who would be under pressure to pick a vice presidential candidate from the South-East is Senator Saraki.

But this option is being shot down by the challenge that none of the governors of the South-East extraction would be willing to contribute generously to such campaign as they have been lukewarm in funding party activities in the last three and half years.

A source said this leaves the South-South as the beautiful bride, as their governors have the resources and are willing to fund the party’s activities.

Efforts made to contact the highest ranking member of the PDP National Working Committee (NWC), from the South East, Col. Austin Akobundu (rtd), for comment proved abortive as his lines could not be reached.

However, one of his aides told The AUTHORITY that “the current permutations have shifted attention of political gladiators from the South-East to ferociously tackle one another to grab the Governorship, Senate and House of Representatives tickets.

“I can assure you that the refusal of our people to register as voters is not helping matters. Our people are politically naïve and this is our greatest undoing despite the fact that we believe that Ndigbo are numerically stronger than any other race in this country, given the fact that all over the country, they are next in number to the indigenous people, but we are politically ignorant, believing that political office comes as a matter of logic or rational thinking,” the aide stressed.

If you believe that there's no difference between PDP and APC just because APC is about to use Akpabio against PDP in the upcoming election please tell me the difference between SGT Rogers and Akpabio.

For the benefit of those who were young during Abacha era or forgotten about the role he played later on during their trial:

Sgt Rogers was a member of the killer squad set up by Major Al-Mustapha to deal with the "enemy" of Abacha government.

It was Sgt Rogers that pulled the trigger that killed Hajia Kudirat Abiola and near snuffed life out of late Baba Adesanya.

Guess what happened during trial? Prof Yemi Osinbajo used him as a prosecution witness to nail Gen Bamaiyi, Sabo and Al-Mustapha the bigger killers.

Did the action of Osinbajo rubbished his integrity as a senior lawyer? Never. Did the action questioned the genuinity of Tinubu as Governor of Lagos state? Absolutely not.

What about OBJ under which these killers were behind bars for nearly 15 years? Never.

Osinbajo used lesser evil to nail the real devil.

Those who are attacking the integrity of Mr President because of intending defection of Akpabio to APC are daft, stupid and foolish.

Some of you are nothing but bloody hypocrites. When the cold blooded murderer, Bukola Saraki and his killer squad left APC it was celebrated by you guys but as soon APC picked the lesser rogue to destroy whatever PDP stand to gain tears and sorrow became you guys middle name.
All this you just said is media trial. If you have any evidence against Saraki that he has a killer squad, by all means, publish the evidence on one of the National dailies. Better yet, submit the evidence to the Police so that they may take him to court. For now, your points are baseless.

As for now, the world knows the truth about Buhari and APC that their anti-corruption fight is a scam.

The six governors are Abubakar Bello Niger state,Aminu Masari katsina state, Abdulraziz Yari Zamfara state, Abubakar Badura Jigawa state, Jubrila Bindow of Adamawa state and Kassim Shetima of Borno state.

Our correspondent gathered that the 6 APC governors were in Sokoto begging Tambuwal not to defect to People Democratic Party (PDP).

After meeting with their host in government house in Sokoto , Tambuwal ushered them in for a close door meeting which lasted about two hours .

Speaking after the meeting aide to one of the governor who speak to journalists on condition of anonymity said the visit is a condolence visit in view of what happened few days ago at Gandi village in Rabah local government , where bandits killed about 39 people.

But when asked further he disclosed that it is also about defection rumored of governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal but explained that such will not be discussed openly.

It has been recalled that Tambuwal, Samuel ortom and Ahmed Fatai of Kwara state were among APC governors who are planning to defect to People Democratic party.
