What’s the issue with yours?

Repairs are usually easy to do diy with a screwdriver except you’ve damaged something that can only be replaced outright.

If you are not a non-literate, you should know any engine that overheats everytime is not functional and it is dangerous to drive especially in the evening when you won't see the smoke early enough because we mostly forget to be checking our temp guage.
If a CRV engine have had overheating 10 times, the fund for repairs and oil will surely buy another good engine.
He should park the car till he buy a new engine and stop stressing and risking his life all around. Life is precious than any car.
Do you know that when an engine overheats, 9 out of 10 times the issue that caused the unfortunate overheating incident is usually outside of the engine in question? (Bad cooling fans, failed ect sensor, leaking radiator, blocked radiator, failed thermostat, broken water hoses, etc) but according to you it is the engine itself, and since you have dashing mechanic money and value your safety the said engine MUST BE REPLACED .

So what if you replace the overheated engine and the overheating episodes keeps recurring on the new replacement engine? What then? Keep buying new engines?

When I spoke of illiteracy and ignorance I actually had a case in question in mind but let me not digress.

CR-V (probably old model) having constant overheating and the owner can't remember the number of times it overheats. Is poverty not the greatest enemy of mankind?
You mean someone owning a vehicle that overheated numerous times but the engine stayed functional is a sign of poverty? shocked

For me, I believe illiteracy and ignorance are actually the greatest enemy of mankind

N80k for inspection? shocked wow! well, let me try to justify it ;

4 wheel well suspension components + tire = N10k each totaling N40k

Engine = N10k

Gearbox = N10k

AC system = N10k

Call credit + Transportation + beer (for job well done) = N10k

Erm … assuming that particular vehicle failed inspection nko . . . What next? undecided

God bless the Japanese grin

Op good luck on your project, I’ll be following keenly

1. So you don't know that some women started experiencing this phenomenon from as young as age 9? undecided
2. Ogbeni, don't try to pin your bullsheet reasoning on me abeg! undecided

So, in your assessment, all cosmetic procedures undergone by both women and men are done for "convenience" sake, and as such a woman without intention towards her womb ought to have it removed for convenience's sake? Since we are on the subject, why not have your brain removed for convenience as well? undecided

3. Nigerians are known to buy babies - there are illegal baby factories as a result of this, even kidnappers who steal babies for sale - and this is illegal. Anyone who goes out to adopt but instead purchases a child in the process is a criminal and ought to be locked up. undecided
It’s okay. You can hold your opinions to yourself. You’ve done well in airing them here for me to see and I thank you for that.

But seriously, are you really this incapable of engaging people here without insulting them? undecided Yesterday you engaged me with one moniker today you’re here with a second one.

Hasn’t it occurred to you that the reason you’re always getting banned from nairaland is because of your character?

How exactly is going under the knife considered "convenient" compared to the monthly bleeding that a woman has pretty much accepted as part of her routine from her childhood? undecided
This statement is looking hypocritical. Women bleed from their teenage years and not from a very young childhood.

Women go under the knife to change their butts, boobs, belly fat, nose, lips etc everyday and all these features are those they were born with and grew up with since their birth so why is going under the same knife regarding their wombs ‘inconvenient’ according to you?

Plus try to be civil with your engagements here, don’t accuse people of buying babies like you did to Nsiehi, you can make your point/opinion without casting aspersions that way.

Nigeria never ceases to amaze, full of surprises. The day you will touch any of those homeless children is the name of adopting or fostering them is the day you will realize that they have parents or guardians and that government and law enforcement agents have their eyes on them and waiting for preys. Some TTC couples have gone to prison because of this. I hope you remember the story of the Kano homeless children who were taken off the street to the East and settled in good homes there, death sentence was prescribed for the foster parents.

Legal adoption in Nigeria looks so easy when being discussed, but the actual process itself is quite draining.
This is exactly my issue with this adoption of a thing. I said in my opening post that I’m adverse to it because of these same reasons you highlighted but some people who have never gone through the process or encountered others who have passed through it are here speaking as if it’s easy.

A "functional womb" can exist as nature installed it, for processing of a woman's what is her ovarian cycles and nothing else. undecided
If that’s your opinion then wouldn’t it be convenient to just surgically remove the whole womb entirely than to be bleeding needlessly every month for no reason?

She is not going in as a foster parent. She said she is adopting the child meaning she gains full parental rights over the child in question. undecided

Functional womb? Even nature does not force anything on a woman because she has what you call a "functional womb". The choice is the woman's whether to use said "functional womb" or not. And as she has made clear to you, she would rather not use said "functional womb" for what you think it ought to be used for , so let her be. undecided
I read all your submissions and just got surprised at the above bolded sentence.

Please oh, apart from conceiving and carrying a child is there any other purpose you think a ‘functional’ womb is used for? I’m just asking because from the way you wrote it’s as if women could have other uses for wombs in general undecided

Like sex, the probability she'll be pregnant is less than 25% per each cycle (300k), so it's best to prepare the cost of 3-4 cycles - 900k - 1.2m to improve her chances.
This is the issue. I always thought it was always married couples who couldn’t have kids due to one issue or another that always went for this ivf method, I’ve never heard of a single woman going for it before. Plus the expenses involved is just woah. Thanks for your input
FamilyRe: Adoption Or Single Mum Dilemma by lilkech(op): 11:51am On Aug 14, 2022
Watermelon:
For IVF costs:

If she is going to carry the baby by herself using her egg and donor sperm, an average cost per cycle is 1.5m

If she will carry the baby herself using donor egg and donor sperm, average cost is 1.75m per cycle

If she is going to use a surrogate mother with her (op) own egg, and donor sperm, average cost is 3.4m, for one baby. She will pay a bit more for multiples(twins, triplets, quadruplets) per cycle

IVF with sex selection, 5m and above.

In all, let her prepare herself spiritually, emotionally, financially and in fact all ramifications because none of the options: adoption, insemination, ivf comes easy.
Wow! This right here is exactly the type of information I needed. Now I can tell her these options and she can decide on what she wants by herself. You’ve been a great help. Thank you

I think some of these clownish vehicle ricing tend to diminish the car owner's reputation..as in why should I take seriously a man who installs plastic quad exhausts on an 03 Corolla? huh
I once saw those kind of exhausts on an 03 corolla. The funny thing was that the engine was smoking lol

Imagine my amusement while see only the extreme right exhaust blowing out smoke while the rest were clear. It was very funny I tell you
EducationWhen Using The Word ‘GIFTED’ Is Wrong by lilkech(op): 7:46pm On Aug 13, 2022
I’ve searched all the versions of available English dictionaries and never come across the word ‘gifted’ in the context which we Nigerians use it.

If you give someone an object for them to utilize unconditionally as their own then it is called a GIFT.

Eg. I gave her a hand bag as a birthday gift
He dashed me his watch as a gift

When you use the word ‘GIFTED’ it means that an individual is talented or very adept at doing a task or performing an action.

Eg. He is a gifted artist
When you see the way she handles kids you’d know that she’s gifted

The word gift has no past tense which requires the letters ’ED’ to be added to it. Please let’s learn to use this word correctly in future.

But she can get pregnant by IVF if she’s really averse to trying the natural way.
Do you know how much it could cost? I don’t have anybody close to me who can give some in-depth details about this ivf especially the average price of doing it in Nigeria.

At least I should have this information before taking it to her in form of an alternative advice.

There is a huge difference between legally adopting a child and a fostering a child.

If she doesn't want to have a child through what she regards as fornication, that decision has to be respected.
I understand that what I’m advising her to do is morally wrong but isn’t it logically right? I mean let’s be real here. Why face a life of lonesomeness when there’s an easier alternative

Anyway, you don't have to "fornicate" to achieve the same result. Advise her to use a sperm bank.
It’s a typo. What I meant was that she’s a career oriented woman.

You have to respect her religious beliefs regarding actually getting pregnant outside marriage.....support her decision to adopt a child.
I understand what you mean but I’ve witnessed complications that came after successful adoptions where the child was taken away from the foster parents again. The accompanying emotional trauma isn’t what I wish for an enemy.

If a woman has a functional womb, isn’t it better to bear a kid by yourself for yourself? Why relegate the use of your womb due to religious reasons?
FamilyAdoption Or Single Mum Dilemma by lilkech(op): 4:56pm On Aug 13, 2022
Okay, so we know women have a time frame to get pregnant due to their natural body systems and I have a career relative who is in her early 40’s but unmarried and without kids.

This my sister is considering adopting a child but I’m advising her against it instead imploring on her to get a guy to get her pregnant (assuming there’s nothing wrong with her womb) and she raises the kid as her own the natural way but she’s adverse to my opinion due to her highly religious inclination saying ‘it’s against her faith to bear a child out of wedlock’ meanwhile time is ticking against her body.

Am I advising her wrongly? I need a wider audience and mature advice concerning this topic please.

Thought I should correct this.

My post specifically stated my discomfort in being in the same bucket with IPOBS and their sympathizers who didn't wish Nigeria well but suddenly love the Country so much. It's definitely not for the love of the country. I went ahead to state there may be ulterior motives whether PO is aware or not.

If I had proofs that boko haram members are promoting a particular candidate, I would say the same of that candidate. Perhaps because boko haram members are not as active on social media as IPOBs. In the case of IPOBs, we know their frontliners and we know who they're promoting. You wouldn't need to work too hard on facebook and Twitter to find this out .
I didn't make any comments because of PO's ethnicity or religion. It's unfortunate that we've reduced every discussion to ethnicity and religion. Every conversion quickly degenerates into ethno-religious clashes.

Just my opinion.
If at this stage in this nation's polity you are still undecided on who to vote for then I suggest you sit at home on election day and not vote anybody.

It is better to not vote at all than to go out and vote in the wrong person as a leader.
