This will go down as the funniest post for the day. Hilarious! Even Theresa May, doesn't have this fancifully dressed men, standing outside No 10. Nigerians, what has happened to us?! Who did this to us?!. Our ancestors will be turning in their grave seeing such arrogant display of stupidity. One can only hope we still have a shred of sanity left to lead us through, when its time for us to Rise Again.

Or maybe, another explanation could be that they probably caught the Halloween fever?! Never know.

Sometimes, I struggle to sympathize with women who end up like the lady in this story. He beat you once, twice, and more, and you remained. He beat you while you were pregnant which lead to early child birth, the beating continued and he eventually dissolved the marriage at his own time on his own terms, after maybe seeing that you couldn't be beaten to death, and you still went by his bedside to nurse him to health, while a bitter divorce was in process. Not once did it occur to you to say, NO, I'M A STRONG, CONFIDENT WOMAN, AND I DESERVE BETTER!!

To all well-meaning men and women, since our police have played dumb to women's abuse plight, isn't it high time we started publicly shaming these shameless abusive men? Maybe, when next you see a man beating his wife, challenge him to pick on someone his own size, or take a photo of his ugly face, preferably while in the heinous act and tag it, THE FACE OF EVIL!
Until we send a clear message that violence and abuse has no place in any society, this story will continue to be one of many.

The unfortunate victim in all this is the child. Only God knows what the future holds for the poor defenceless soul.

when they rape her now they would be screaming "woman's human Rights" people are really dense..!!
Men have raped women who cover themselves from head to toe. Men that rape have no inhibition, and would rape their fellow men, children and even animals if they can. Have you ever wondered why an animal all of a sudden, gives birth to a creature with human form? Nothing spiritual there, its just the result of unnatural interaction between human and animal. So if you think rape is something that is linked with just unclad ladies, think again, because even animals have had their privacy invaded by some over sexed men. The perpetrators of rape crimes should be condemned no matter who or what their victims are!
Until some men stop finding every woman's anatomy fascinating, women like her will keep existing. Unless the woman belongs to you, you have no business poke-nosing in someone else's private life.

Dvampire:
She should count herself lucky that the whole matter ended the way it did. I wonder what happened to decent dressing to church by most of our womenfolk. All in the name of freedom, some women shamelessly expose their secret parts and then cry foul if they are rebuked. My dear, a church is supposed to be a house of God, a place of holiness, worship, reverence and humility. Carry your market elsewhere. Imagine! you dey complain, yet you get time knack Heineken. How the Holy Spirit wan take manifest to you when your spirit is already high on alcohol?
You mean the same churches where pastors live ostentatious lives, with their expensive clothes, shoes, cars, private jetss, etc, at the expense of the poor gullible masses? Please, churches have more issues than that ladies dressing. This is a classic example of chasing rat, whilst your house is on fire.

Why are you so concerned about what teenaged girls are up to? I swear, some Nigerians' obsessions about controlling every aspect of a girl's/woman's life is mind boggling.
My thought as well. He talks about teenage girls but nothing about teenage boys. Teenage boys are not exempt from advise, are they? The way most guys come out and try to control women's thoughts and actions is incredible. I think is boils down to their obsession with women and their inability to be content with one woman. Most posts and comments on nairaland are similar; men telling women how and how not to behave. To these men, i will say; go out, find one wife, marry her, and The End. Stop worrying about what the rest of the other women, who do not belong to you, are doing.

Kgdavid:
Your general pointed is noted. However, are you aware that there is no universal age of consent? The age of consent is 14 in Brazil for example, and 16 in the UK. So what you consider a paedophile here in a "lawless" country like Nigeria, would not be so in a "law abiding" country like the England.
It all comes down to what we find acceptable. I wouldn't want my prepubescent teenage son or daughter to be involved with an adult until he/she is at the age to make that decision. I don't have any control over this neither will I enforce my ideologies on them but I have to do my part as a parent. In the world today, exploitation is everywhere, so it is important that I make my children aware of the dangerous world we live in. I believe we should treat others the way we want others to treat us, so as I am not okay with my young child getting sexually involved with an adult, I wont advocate for such behavior, as I would be a hypocrite. But if someone else is fine with an adult getting involved with their teenage son/daughter, then to each their own.

If the teenager is rolling with a fellow teenager, sorry, but that is called growing up in the 21th century. But if a full blown adult is sleeping with a teenage boy/girl, it is consider pedophilia, and pedophilia is a crime in most countries. So if you are a grown ass man/woman and you have been mingling with some teenager (under 18), my advise is to keep such behaviors in lawless countries like ours, as some countries not only frown at such acts, but also the adult engaged in the activity is thrown behind bars and they go down for a long time. Reason being a child cannot consent to sexual acts with an adult, and any violation from an adult is considered Child sexual abuse or child molestation.

What matters is a woman’s personality, not what she wears or does not wear. But let me just accept, for the sake of argument, that a woman is how she dresses. Contrary to your assumption, the kind of girls you are talking about, are usually skilled in the act of deception, and find ways to manipulate themselves into a marriage when they are ready, and if you think they are somewhere dying single, forget it; some naïve man has fallen for their physical charms. So instead of worrying just about these unclad women who have a well-crafted agenda, we need to start speaking in loud volumes to the men. See, you are what you attract, simple. I know guys who would see a girl running around unclad with bosoms going up and down in slow motion, and their only thought will be, “has she gone mad”, while on the other hand, you have the blokes that on seeing the same sight in full speed, their brain stops functioning as if they have been presented with the moon on a plate. If you keep roping yourself into one of these traps, it wouldn’t take long before you meet the true Jezebel who will work her way into your marital bed, and you will have yourself to blame when this happens. As we expend so much energy telling the woman how and how not to dress, also send the message to the man, on how and how not to get roped by these exhibitionistic women.

MAN and WOMAN were created differently. While a man has an Ego that only submission can tame, a woman has a nature that only Love and Care can handle. A man knows you love him when you are submissive to him while a lady wants all the care and attention in the world. It is a natural law. Marriage being an institution created by God is very complicated which is why like every other manufacturer of complicated devices, God placed a manual(BIBLE) to direct us on how to go about the process.
First, someone that has an ego has no business being in a matured relationship. EGO employs defense mechanisms. Defense mechanisms are psychological strategies brought into play by the unconscious mind to manipulate, deny, or distort reality in order to defend against feelings of anxiety and unacceptable impulses and to maintain one's self-schema. Ego is not something a man has to have, to feel and be a man. Everyone has an ego to an extent, but as we grow, most learn how to suppress their ego in a matured and healthy way. A full-grown man running around with ego as high as the mountain, is not only a danger to himself and his family, but is also a danger to the world at large, and submission from a woman will only worsen the character of such a man. If the woman alone is being submissive, and not giving love, and a man is only giving love and not being submissive, there is no balance and that is when complications will arise. The bible should serve as a guide, and instead of taking the readings verbatim, we should make the effort to understand it in a practical way. My own understanding of marriage from the bible, is that as Christ loved and cared for us, husband and wife need to love and care for each other, and it's definitely not a trade and barter, where one exchanges love for submission and vice versa.

For whatever it is, avoid a broken home...that's my advocacy. Nobody is perfect...and that's why God created that missing bone to make it perfect. Yeah, TB might have his shortcomings and that's exactly where Tiwa is needed the most and vise versa. All this marry today and beak up tomorrow because of differences will in tone nothing but unprepared couple. We are not white people that will marry today and end it tomorrow because of one missing cat. See, why go into marriage if you wouldn't keep to the "for better for worse" vowhuh
I totally agree. Even the white people are disillusioned with the rate of break-up and divorce. Just goes to show that more and more people don’t even know what marriage is and are just not prepared for it. Some have even married because it’s a trend, and they use the line “My friends are getting married”, and this line serves as enough motivation for them to rush into marriage. It’s Sad really.

I expected this long time ago. Na so he easy to be a baby mama or a baby daddyhuh It's always better to avoid broken homes if possible because we need to think of the children, future and the emotional stress that goes with that. See, no man or woman can beat his or her chest that broken home brings happiness.

I like Tiwa a lot..Society shaaait shouldn't determine her marriage. Yeah, she is a celeb, she should build her home first before anything. Nobody is perfect and I like the way Tee Bilz been handling this so far. See, marriage is not for the unprepared... Good luck Tiwa and TB smiley

Btw, that boy Jamil needs a playmate... daddy and mummy should do quick abeg wink

#SayNoToBrokenHome... smiley
Please we need to stop this idea that for some reasons, marriage is good for the children. "A loving and happy mariage/family" is good for the children, not "just" marriage. If you are in a chaotic marriage, filled with lies, deceit, disloyalty, dishonesty, cheating, verbal/physical abuse, and other negative factors, then, that is exactly what your children will pick up and emulate. Of course, it goes without saying that marriage is for people that are matured and prepared, and I will always advocate for people to get married for the right reasons and to remain and probably die graciously single, if they are not marriage-ready, in other to reduce the possibility of divorce or unhappiness in the marriage. But make no mistakes, when one party in the marital institution becomes dysfunctional and you allow your child to be exposed to that parent, you will end up increasing the chances of having a dysfunctional son or daughter by 90%, because children, by nature, will tend to follow their parents actions, and not their words. In all, a dysfunctional marriage/family is not in a child's best interest.

Behave himself, As per Tiwa is his saviour? Abi na tiwa dey feed am? Abeg leave story, it is a woman's role to submit to her husband and a husband's role to love his wife. Tiwa should calm down already and submit to her husband joor.
So by your interpretation, a wife should submit to her husband while a husband should not submit to his wife and then, a husband's duty is to love his wife and his wife should not love him back? Wont this imbalance be a recipe for disaster? How can you give love and not expect love back?
Both husband and wife need to respect and love each other, and they should always treat each other, thesame way they want their spouse to treat them.
Foreign AffairsBreaking News! British Prime Minister, David Cameron Resigns by lindabon(op):
Who will be the next British Prime Minister as David Cameron resigns following EU Referendum defeat

What now for Cameron?

David Cameron cannot survive. The eurosceptics within his party will be victorious and he will go down in history as the Prime Minister who took Britain out of the European Union despite so vociferously campaigning for the exact opposite.

Boris Johnson's fortunes have soared dramatically as the figurehead of Vote Leave.

He has neatly positioned himself to become a main player in any ensuing Conservative leadership challenge. Enter, Prime Minister Boris.

Jeremy Corbyn has also been roundly criticised for not shouting loud enough about why Britain needed to remain an EU member.

This is what civilized people do.
They come together, brainstorm and decide to leave or stay by voting.
We saw the same with the Scottish referendum.
No insults, no name calling of other people and above all no soliciting for weapons
Good luck to the civilized people of UK - the world will always take them seriously.
The laborious research ordinary individuals in these truly great nations go through before making decisions concerning the future of their country is admirable. Despite all their major allies encouraging them to stay, all economics arguments was in favour of them staying in EU, all (but one) of the major leaders of their opposition parties wanted them to stay, their prime minister wanted them to stay, Obama wanted them to stay, big corporations wanted them to stay, and the list goes on. But despite all that, people decided to go and vote for what they believed was the right thing for their country. Putting sentiment aside, Defying all the odds, Challenging the system, questioning the status quo, and here they are today...making HISTORY!

Though I think they would have been better off in EU, the remarkable thing here is the extraordinary way the people of United Kingdom voted to leave the European Union, despite all the fears and doubts caste in their mind by their leaders and everyone they looked up to. No wonder they can and will always achieve great things. RESPECT!!

Foreign AffairsUK Votes To Leave The European Union by lindabon(op): 5:01am On Jun 24, 2016
LONDON –The Leave campaign will win the UK referendum on EU membership, CNN predicts. With more than 98% of districts reporting, there are not enough votes left uncounted to change the result.

Almost 46.5 million people were registered to vote in Thursday’s referendum.

Leave.EU and UKIP leader Nigel Farage, who had earlier appeared to concede that the “Remain” vote had “edged it,” told his supporters that the result heralded a “new dawn” for an independent UK.

He also called on Prime Minister David Cameron to resign as a result of the referendum.

“The dawn is coming up on an independent United Kingdom, something that you did your absolute best — you used all of your powers — to prevent,” he said.

“You did it using every organ of state available to you. You’ve lost the trust of the British people. Go, go now.”

The result reflects a deeply divided union.

The town of Boston in Lincolnshire, England, had the biggest margin of victory for leave voters — 76% to 24%.

The tiny British overseas territory of Gibraltar has the biggest margin of victory for Remain. About 96% of ballots there were for remain.

Prior to the final results, historian Simon Schama told CNN “I think Leave is going to win this and I think Britain is going to leave the European Union, which obviously I think is a catastrophe.

“We’re on a kind of very dangerous knife edge about the integrity and coherence of Europe… we’re entering a very dark and exceptionally dangerous period in European and actually world history, too.”

In one of the most divisive campaigns in recent memory, polls had consistently shown voters split down the middle, with the outcome too close to call, and wavering voters likely to determine the result.

The UK has been a member of the European Union — and its precursors — since 1973.

Mixed reaction

The results have prompted mixed reaction from European politicians.

Germany’s foreign minister tweeted: “The early morning news from #GreatBritain are truly sobering. It looks like a sad day for #Europe+the #UnitedKingdom.”

The far-right Dutch politician Geert Wilders congratulated the UK on its decision, and called for a Dutch referendum on EU membership.

“We want be in charge of our own country, our own money, our own borders, and our own immigration policy,” he was quoted as saying in a statement on his website.

“If I become prime minister, there will be a referendum in the Netherlands on leaving the European Union as well. Let the Dutch people decide.”

Northern Irish party Sinn Fein, which has long advocated for independence from the UK, said that the vote “forfeited any mandate to represent the interests of people here in the north of Ireland,” chairman Declan Kearney said in a statement.

Markets start freaking out

The pound has dipped precipitously in forex markets as results from more and more election authorities came in, slowly solidifying the “Leave” camp’s hold on the referendum.

The pound has dropped below 1.35 against the dollar, the lowest since 1985, according to Kit Juckes, a strategist at Societe Generale.

Early referendum results have sparked a global markets sell-off. London stock futures are trading 7% lower and stock futures in the U.S. are down 2%, CNNMoney reports.

Before the polls closed, markets had been expecting the UK would stay in the EU. But that expectation changed rapidly as results started coming in.

The pound is dropping sharply against all major currencies, and is currently trading at 1.38 against the dollar. Oil is down 4%.

Gold — one asset investors turn to in the times of uncertainty — is up 2%.

The shockwaves are being felt around the world.

Japanese Finance Minister Taro Aso told reporters Japan is keeping a close eye on financial markets following the UK’s EU referendum and is ready to take measures if necessary, if markets continue to fall.

Mark Littlewood,Director General of the Institute of Economic Affairs, said the UK will have a difficult time moving forward.

Ill portents for ‘remain’ voters

Britons headed to polling stations beneath rainy skies in London, following torrential rains and thunderstorms overnight that caused flash flooding in parts of the capital and southeastern England.

The downpour wreaked havoc on transport networks in London and southern England and caused two polling stations in southwest London to close and relocate after they were inundated with floodwaters. Others across the capital opened late due to the weather.

Among the key political players casting their votes Thursday were UK Prime Minister David Cameron, who voted at a hall in London; Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn, who also voted in the capital; and Farage, who voted in Westerham, England.

After the polls closed, Cameron tweeted: “Thank you everyone who voted to keep Britain stronger, safer & better off in Europe – and thousands of @StrongerIn campaigners around the UK”

Registered voters include Britons aged over 18 from England, Wales, Scotland, Northern Ireland and Gibraltar — a British territory off the southern coast of Spain. Irish and Commonwealth citizens living in the UK are also eligible to vote.

One of the major groups wanting to leave the EU, Vote Leave, tweeted: “Whatever the outcome, it’s been an incredible campaign. Thank you to everyone who was a part of this! #ProjectHope”

‘Serious consequences’

Turnout in Scotland is 67% and voted overwhelmingly to stay in Europe. Now that the UK as a whole has determine to leave, many north of the border feel that this would be a catalyst for another Scottish referendum, allowing the country to secede from the UK.

“If this result holds, it’s the end of Britain, just simple as that… Scotland is voting overwhelmingly to stay,” Schama says.

“If Scotland cannot be coerced into leaving the EU against its will, you cannot, in all decency, deny them a second referendum. If all the leavers are about self-government, taking back control, why shouldn’t the Scots take back control?

“Bye-bye Great Britain, bye-bye United Kingdom. That will absolutely happen.”

‘Out is out’

Cameron negotiated with European leaders this year to secure improved terms of membership in the bloc had Britain stayed in the EU.

European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker warned Wednesday there will be no further renegotiation.

“We have concluded the deal with the Prime Minister; he got the maximum he could receive, and we gave the maximum we could give so there will be no kind of renegotiation,” he said.

“Out is out.”

French President François Hollande also warned that the result would have a huge impact on the future of the European Union.

“The departure of a country that is, geographically, historically, politically in the European Union would have extremely serious consequences,” he said prior to the vote.

Pro-Brexit Member of the European Parliament Daniel Hannan insists that cooperation with the EU will continue despite the UK’s “Leave” vote.

“Our partners in the EU should know that we will remain engaged,” he tweeted. “Taking back control of our laws doesn’t mean walking away from our allies.”

Toxic climate

The political climate leading up to the referendum was unusually volatile, with both sides accusing each other of lying and scaremongering.

The tension reached its peak with last week’s killing of Labour MP Jo Cox, a pro-“Remain” advocate in her first term in parliament. She was the first sitting British lawmaker to be killed since 1990.

Her husband, Brendan Cox, told the BBC she had been concerned about politics becoming “too tribal and unthinking.”

“She was very worried that the language was coarsening and people were driven to take more extreme positions,” he said.

On Wednesday, another Labour MP tweeted that she had received a death threat for her referendum campaigning.

Chibok girls: 'First kidnapped girl rescued' in Nigeria

One of the missing Chibok girls has been found in Nigeria, activists say, the first to be rescued since their capture two years ago.

The 276 girls were taken from their secondary school in north-east Nigeria by Boko Haram militants in April 2014.

Activists confirmed to the BBC that Amina Ali Nkek was found by a vigilante group on Tuesday in the Sambisa Forest, close to the border with Cameroon.

She was reportedly identified by a civilian fighter who recognised her.

The fighter belonged to the Civilian Joint Task Force (JTF), a vigilante group set up to help fight Boko Haram.

Sources told the BBC she came from the town of Mbalala, south of Chibok, from where 25 of the kidnapped girls came. It is understood she was found with a baby.

The town that lost its girls

The gunmen arrived in Chibok late at night, then raided the school dormitories and loaded 276 girls on to trucks.

Some managed to escape within hours of their kidnapping, mostly by jumping off the lorries and running off into the bushes.

In total, 219 girls were taken away.

Health72-year-old Woman Gives Birth To Baby Boy by lindabon(op): 2:51pm On May 11, 2016
Mohinder Singh Gill and his wife Daljinder Kaur with their healthy baby boy, Arman.

A seventy-two-year old Daljinder Kaur delivered a healthy baby boy after 46 years marriage and about 20 years after menopause.

Kaur’s wish to have a child was fulfilled through the in-vitro fertilisation (IVF-test tube) technique, wherein the eggs and sperm are fertilised outside the womb, in a test tube.

Kaur’s 79-year-old husband, Mohinder Singh Gill, had been travelling with her from Amritsar in Punjab to Hisar in Haryana since 2013 to ensure the success of the treatment, according to Hindustantimes.

In July 2015, Kaur finally conceived after two failed IVF cycles.

Embryologist and owner of the National Fertility and Test Tube Baby Centre in Hisar, Dr Anurag Bishnoi, explained that Kaur first came to him alone in 2013, after reading about the centre in newspapers.

Kaur own case is the second at the centre where a 70-year-old woman was delivered of a baby girl successfully through IVF.

Bishnoi said, “Our track record in handling IVF in older women has been fairly good, but not everyone is fit to conceive. In her case, she looked visibly frail too, so I had to refer her to a cardiologist to get clearance for the procedure and a battery of other tests to ascertain fitness levels.

“We started work within two months in 2013 but the first attempt failed, which is normal. After six months, another attempt was made and that also didn’t succeed. Finally, the third attempt was successful.”

The husband blames his wife’s inability to have a child on a lack of awareness and a family feud that was on for years because of which they didn’ t get time to see a doctor.

He said, “It was embarrassing to not be able to produce a child, no doubt, but we have been busy with litigation all our life and hardly had time to think it over.

“After we got a little free a few years ago, we thought of trying for a baby. The newspaper article was spotted at an opportune moment.”

The people that dragged him to his death are mentally as unwell as the man they killed. It takes a rather inhuman person to subject another to such harshness. This is why there should be laws in place to judge and sentence criminals accordingly. Some people commit worse crimes than a motorcycle thief, but they still are walking the face of the earth unscathed

...Yorubas are stronger than Igbos, Igbos are stronger than Yorubas, Hausas are stronger than Igbos and Yorubas, and so on. IMAGINE!!! This is the conversation that human beings are busy having, at a time when the blood of innocent is shed DAILY? Men are being butchered and chopped up like meat, Women are being raped and killed, and people who claim to have conscience, people who go to the mosque and church every week, a country where and overwhelming majority are religious, cannot even feel the sadness in the death and waste of human life?? ?? Is this what poverty does to people? Turns them into heartless and souless HUMANS?!!! I wonder. Instead of an all out condemnation of this hineous crime, we are busy fighting each other and playing tribalist. At this rate, this Evil will spread with menace. If we dont start getting all hands on deck, The Fulanis will win very easily!!!!

The op is covering both the completed and ongoing projects. I think most of the completed roads are usually swept by the government road sweeping agents as can be seen in one of the pictures where they were at work. Where I noticed something is at the flyover area where work men are still working as the project is still under construction and gardeners/sweepers will resume there once completed. The drainages are made in such a way that flood can easily be discharged because of the experience of the past where heavy flood was witnessed, and this has made it possible to remove flood entirely.
Wow, Great. I get it now. Thanks for taking out time to explain that for me, I appreciate.

I'm actually impressed with the pictures. Its good to know that renovations and reconstructions are taking place in Awka. Wish others will follow on this progressive path, or continue the good work if they are already at it. But I still have one worry. Can someone tell me why there is always sand spotted even in the completed construction works? Is there no way to get rid of the patches of sand here and there? Is it impossible to have the ground spotless, or will this come with more development and reconstruction? And the gutters are too obvious and open, and I think its wideness can pose a physical danger. Can the gutters not be made less conspicuous and safe? Serious question though.

Many Nigerians especially the men are emotionally immature. Even if you take women out the equation look at the bus drivers, okada men, market traders all the way up to politicians. Shouting all the time and fighting physically when they are angry...in public too.
Is it parliamentarians brawling shamefully? Or maybe policemen fighting in the street? Far too many Nigerian men use physical violence when they are annoyed and I suspect it is because they simply know no other way.
Totally Agree. We are all matured adults and we need to learn how to handle positive and negative criticism, without resort to physical, mental, or verbal abuse. Men and Women should Treat each other with respect at all times. Conflict is inevitable, and in times of conflict and disagreement, always opt for a more assertive approach rather than aggression and power play. If a man or a woman abuses someone else for whatever reason, it is WRONG.
PoliticsRe: Say No To 'Women's Equality' by lindabon:
Let me get this. So you do not want a fair world because a man should be the one to slap a woman, kick her out of the house, etc? Your view that narcissistic, abusive, and sadistic behaviour should be allowed only if the man is the sole administrator of such harsh treatment, is rather troubling.

You are entitled to your own opinion and I can either laugh at it, criticise it, or reason with it. I maintain that I will not advocate for a world where any one is treated unfairly. I have seen most people raised in patriarchal societies, and I genuinely feel sorry for the men as well as the women, because they do not know how much better things will be if they didn't have to carry so many responsibilities alone and If they rather just shared their burden with each other. China, Japan and India as you mentioned and even western countries are still making effort to bridge the gap and so is every other nation. I hate to disappoint you, but a fair, just and balanced society is what everyone will adopt at some point and the simple reason is because no one has yet been able to come up with a concrete reason why one person should be discriminated against. So if you do not want a fair society, you need to start coming up with a good argument against it instead of just saying, "I prefer a system where the men are the abusive ones rather than the women" or "Women have always been the victims of abuse, why change that now". Such ideas do not hold water and will easily get crushed in the future and there is very little anyone can do about it, unfortunately. Without a good supporting argument against fairness, a fair and just society will not only be a prescription but also a bitter pill most people will be forced to swallow to rid the world of bias and make the world a better place.

We Africans REJECT the jungle-like state of broken families, drugs, gangsterism and teenage pregnancies that have turned large segments of western society into living nightmares.
Please Note that this is what happens in most disenfranchised and largely uneducated societies in a varied or subtle degree, both home and abroad.

Rossikk:
African men do not CARE what you or some foreigners think about them.
African men CIVILIZED this world. We know what works and what doesn't, based on thousands of years' experience. A woman has her functions, and a man has his. The concepts of 'equality' and 'inequality' are non-existent in African gender discourse. And shall remain so, whatever the rest of the world thinks.
And yet, African nations sit firmly at the bottom of global development. We tend to forget that the foreigners or "the west" , practised similar systems of oppression, at some point in their history. Today, they are still implementing better ways to best run their societies, and given their progress so far, its safe to assume that these systems are working. What we usually call "westernisation", are rather policies adopted by a group of people, who decided to stop repeating destructive patterns of behaviour over and over again, and instead, to question the status quo. By so doing, through a process of trial and error, they were able to start devising constructive plans that work for the good of all.

With Africa having the poorest nations in the world, it is safe to also assume at this point that whatever systems we have in place do not work, have not worked, and will probably never work. I advise that we try to unlearn certain regressive behaviours, and embrace a more progressive way of growing.

(In Western Societies) A woman cant slap a man and get away with it unless the man himself, felt abase and as a result, he refuses to divulge that information to the police. Abuse is bad when it happens to men as well. But the problem is, "how many men can report their wife for abuse"? Also, if a man claims to date women who will insult him, abuse him and then she finally seals it all with a slap, the man needs to question the type of women he seems to be drawn to(This also applies to women).
On the divorce issue, I have seen Nigerian marriages, and yes possibly divorce rate may be lower, but this boils down to the fact that married couples choose to suffer neglect, mental and physical abuse, infidelity, and all worth not.
I can pick more on other things OP stated, but I would just say finally that in a relationship, demeaning behaviour is not healthy, and no one should boast if their society encourages jungle-like system of living together.

What is sad is that we are wasting our time comparing Jonathan to anyone. Jonathan's government brought nothing tangible to Nigerians. We are still struggling with power supply, road, education, security, etc. So why compare him at all? If eventually Buhari fails after 4years in office, he is also not worth comparing to anyone. Jonathan failed Nigerians and we should move on from him and what he stood for. He should never be the topic of any serious Nigerian conversation. The only Nigerians that could talk about Jonathan are the Comedians because their job is to crack Jokes, and jonathan was a Joke. Lets leave him in the past where he belongs. The fact that Nigerians are still thinking about Jonathan and comparing anyone with him is scary because this translates to, "We wont mind another Jonathan in the future, because Jonathan was very Bad, but not very verry veerry Bad".

I do not want to consider any past, future or prepubescent Nigerian president that is "Okay but Bad", "Manageable but Bad", "Good but Bad", "Good but sometimes Bad", in short, I do not want the next Nigerian President to be "Bad" in any way, shape or form!!!

BREAKING NEWS

El-Rufai is just a litmus paper if Christians all over don't rise up against this terrible persecution no matter the lies and hypocrisy that El-Rufai is using to garnish his evil agenda, then other APC governors are waiting to follow suit.

Help share this with as many Christians and Christian bodies you know. We must employ all spiritual and legal means at our disposal to stop this evil;
no matter the lies that El-Rufai will hide under.
This statement, will it not inspire religious intolerance among the Christians themselves? Why should just the "Christians" be the ones to rise up against persecution of Christians? What we need in Nigeria is a unifying approach to injustice. This should not be an "Us Vs Them" call. Instead, lets call on all Nigerians of all faith to rise up when anyone is unjustly persecuted because of their religious belief. We should learn to live together and appreciate our differences and rise up against anyone that threatens our unity.

Also, Most predominantly Christian communities in Nigeria, will tear there skin off if they hear that a Mosque is to be built in their community. Christians can be easily guilty of the same crime they accuse others of committing. We should learn to stand together and keep our differences aside before we allow our hatred for each other to completely consume us all. Nigeria belongs to all of US!
