NAIROBI GUYS at work again, Mad people. Sorry bro kindly order ur GCMS note before re-applying and try re-applying through online to avoid our "beloved" Nairobi guys. 18 weeks and still got refused, this people are sick.
Let him not waste his time for that GCMS rubbish because nothing different from the normal generic reasons already given to him. He should just tackle the points raised. I guess the main area to tackle is the area of purpose of visit.

Evening House.

So, after waiting for 18weeks, CIC Kenya branch(lolz...), decide to wield their big stick of refusal. Mehn...this guys no dey fear God shaaa.

Refusal reasons were based on family ties in Canada & country of residence and purpose of visit.
I really dont get this guys, got admitted for MSc in Sociology, U of M. Have a Bsc in Sociology and currently working as a field officer in a development program. All family ties are here in Nigeria none whatsoever in Canada.

Guess my GCMS file will shade more light on the VO's point of reasoning.

Just thought I should update the house!
So sorry for the delay, but I suggest you address the point raised and quickly reapply instead of waiting for GCMS. Why do I say so? Your GCMS will always cometwith the same normal generic reasons they have already given. I suspect your refusal is base of visit and not ties bla bla! Could you send me the SOP you use for scrutiny? I guess that's were the refusal came from

Please, what do you mean by raise eyeball? Do you mean during the interview or when I submit an application?

Regarding experience, I have partaken in several multi level marketing online schemes with awareness and advertising campaigns but I don't think that would count as I haven't physically worked in that capacity in any known establishment
The eyeball I meant is when you can not convince the Visa officer in LOE beyond reasonable doubt the reason for switching program.
Secondly, Canada embassy currently do not conduct physical interview for students Visa applicant's, your SOP takes care of your interview answers. Good luck

Good day all. Please, I'll appreciate any useful information. I graduated with a GP of 3.48 on a 5point scale in Zoology and Environmental Biology. However, I intend changing my career path and I want to apply for a Post graduate diploma in any course that could lead me to get a Masters in marketing or advertising.

Please, what are the correct steps to take?

PS, I'll be done serving Nigeria by March next year and I'll like to have an actionable plan before then.
Hmmmm Bsc in zoology and pgd/pgc program that can lead to masters in marketing is a complete different career parts, do you have previous experience in marketing? If no, then itmay probably raise some eyeball but you can try your luck

Hi all, Kindly advise! I graduated with B.Sc Computer Science some 15 years ago. Work experience has been in Business development/marketing/sale/financial planning, spanning about 13 years. I'm yet to have a 2nd degree and I just applied to a college in Canada to study a 2 year graduate certificate course in Global Business Management. I'm I likely to be granted study permit?
Great to see that people like you who have a long span experience want to further and improve their career prospect, I guess that's the kind of joy that will fill the mind of VO who will process your application. They like experience people hence the idea of EE.

Having over 12 years experience in Business development and applying for study permit with an offer in Global Business Management will definitely stand you out of the crowd and put your application into a position of a very higher positive outcome. But i may advice, do not apply along with your family to go with you in other to prove sufficient home tie and as well not to raise the VO suspicions. Goodluck

thank sir. I graduated with 2.2 sha. And you said it difficult, to get visa or admition in the university? Or is it both
What I mean is getting a master's with 2:2 may pose difficulty not Visa, however, getting Visa for every applicant is equal, though bachelor's degree applicant's are sometimes perceived to have higher chances of Visa approval due to its longer study duration. But in your case, I advice you should go for bachelor's degree since you fall below 2:1.

Having said, try apply for a degree program in accounting since that's where your previous academics is dormant and you may likely get a 2yr degree program which also qualify you for 3 years PGWP.

Finally, don't panic and worry not about Visa approval because you have a better and positive academic background that will surely scale through without hindrance.

. Have got a degree in accounting Education, am just being skeptical. Two of my guys studying in Canada told me if i try to use MSc...that my chances of getting visa is slim. They said using a bachelor degree is best and even though they can still refuse my visa, but chances of getting it is higher than when you going for masters. That the more reason I need advice ooo. Thinking about it personally I know it could be detrimental if I use first degree. What to do oo, should i just go for masters.
Yes! Its true that degree applicant's are more favor in getting TRV due to the study duration, however, having obtained Bsc already in home country may raises some eyeball but that shouldn't deter you from applying. Try construct a good SOP emphasize the fact that accounting education wasn't your career part but rather pure Accounting, try explain how your former institution force you into education, that you have stood up to take your future in your hands now, and how your previous knowledge and study experience will help you excel in your chosen career. Just look for more good reason for second bachelor degree and have at least five bullet points to buttress your reasons.

Getting a master's degree offer in Canada if you're not a 2:1 holder may pose a bit difficulty for you, so degree will be best for you because you will be given 2yrs of study while HND holder are normally given 3yrs of study. Move on with your plans and pray for Gods favor

Hello Nairalanders,

Please am new here. I have been offered admission at Cambrooks College, but as the school doesn't have hostel facilities, my question is that can I rent hostel accommodation off campus?

Also, how many month accommodation payment/booking does the embassy require in the application?

Please your response is highly appreciated
.
Mr/Mrs please kindly be advice that you should not waste money for a rent until you have got your stamped passport at hand.
Firstly, you don't need a payment of accommodation in advance to apply for a study Visa, its not part of the requirements to pay your rent when you have not apply for study permit or when your study permit has not been approve, so doing is tantamount to waste of money. What you should do now is go package your documents and apply for study permit first and then wait for VO decision.

Secondly, if your Visa is approved then you can now make arrangement for accommodation few weeks before landing, when that time comes just post it here on the forum that you need accommodation and many fellows in this forum who live in that city will help you secure accommodation.

Finally, I think all higher institution in Canada allow students to live off campus (I stand to be corrected) so that's not a big deal. Focus on applying for study permit and pray for God mercy and favor

Please am 26 years of age I do t know if am too old to us a Bsc program to apply for a student visa to canada. Please I need to know my chances of getting the visa and have got little traveling history, Ghana cameroon and south africa. Please I really need advice please please
You're not too old for a degree program but the big question is " do you have any form of diploma certification such HND, OND or ND? If yes then you're good to go but if NO then the VO may consider some other factors before making a decision

Its a 50:50 chance or almost a 70:30(where 70 is the chances of refusal). as you have pointed out, they are more welcoming to younger aged for the level . You stand better chances in Ireland or UK
I beg to defer, he's chances are the same as that of Msc, PhD applicant's, infact degree students have more chances of Visa approval than any other shorter duration programs. So let him go on and apply fast, at 26 I believed he or she had gotten a kind of diploma certification. If only at 26 he/she has no post secondary qualification then your assertion maybe considered

Hello Bukella, Honestly i am guilty of this as Canada (Toronto) is not what many made me think it is. I am a seneca student doing my secong PGD program. I came in January 2018 and Toronto has its ups and downs....but i thing you should prepare for is the cost

Do not come here thinking your part-time job (if you find one) can offset your school fees and living costs. on average rent here is about $800...with the lowest ive heard of being $500.

My school is good, but i promise you, the amount of work required (its not hard, its just plenty research and work).....and please...do not even think of plagiarism ( more on that later)

Ive promised to come online at least once weekly to help those that need information, because information is the most important thing here (well, after networking). Please try to ask any particular questions you may have

on here btw, i hardly respond to emails
Can someone who is paying less than $5k as school fee per term be able to offset his/her school fee and living expenses with part-time job?

UNN is worst, I remember beating the cutoff for accounting department for direct entry, I scored 265+ but wasn't admitted a fellow scored 197 and he was admitted.
I think universities in the SE are worst in terms of backdoor admission. I can categorically tell you that in SE less than 5% are admitted on merit every year

Like others had said PEI stands for Prince Edward Island. Secondly, what I meant by job opportunities is that in these two provinces you may find it a bit difficult to get a job that will sustain you during or after your studies due to insufficient job availability for job seekers.
