It will be a terrible decision to nuke 2m people because of just 6 people. Besides, its almost impossible for the 6 to kill another 2m people anytime soon.

So, either follow the money (funding) or introduce new funding to divide & rule.
Politics › Re: How Awo's Indignization Decree Of 1972 Caused Nigeria's Decay by lionshare: 12:53pm On Sep 14, 2020

What are you talking about? Awolowo was the head of the economic team and the defacto vice president during the regime of Gowon! They weren't at loggerheads at all. The role he played in the government of Gowon was very similar to the role Ngozi Okonjo Iweala played in the government of Goodluck Jonathan. No significant economic policy would have been implemented without it being their brainchild or at least recieving endorsement from them.

If the Indignization decree was done in good faith, it wouldn't have been implemented at that point in time, considering how crucial it was and how a significant part of the country would automatically be disenfranchised! Let's be honest with ourselves and accept to the truth.
I suggested you reread the initial attachment. You cannot put the blame on Awolowo when your attachment clearly shows he’s in opposition to the government in power. Why would anyone want to empower his/her enemy?

I think you should blame Gowon if you honestly think the policy did not favor your people.

Also, it’s possible for you to air your thoughts, feelings and opinions without maligning the characters of others. We can have conversations as to the beneficiaries considering those actively in government as at then. Who was the finance minister then?

Ps: thanks for the decorum

You just want to argue for arguing sake. Awolowo was the head of the economic team during the early part of Gowon's regime. Do you think that the moment the Indignization decree was passed into law was also when the idea was brought forward? Don't you know that it must have passed through bureaucratic bottlenecks?

Indignization decree was Awo's idea to steal foriegn investments and hand it over to his people.
This is tantamount to military government empowering Awolowo, who is a perceived enemy considering his preference for democracy. Let’s be rational!

You missed the point of sending the attachment. It was to show that Awolowo was still influencing policies as at 1972. Again, the Indignization decree only took effect in 1972, does it mean the idea also came into effect that same moment it was implemented? The idea must have been brought forward much earlier!!
How can one be influencing policies as a opposition figure? It will be illogical for the government to implement policies that will be favorable to someone who was rooting for a return to democracy in a military dispensation. Pls go through the attachment again.
Politics › Re: How Awo's Indignization Decree Of 1972 Caused Nigeria's Decay by lionshare: 12:09pm On Sep 13, 2020
@proeast did you read the attachment before posting it. It’s fine to argue but you should bring facts to the table...it’s on record that awo resigned before the policy was executed. Please counter that with facts, no insults pls just debates. Everyone has tendencies to be bias but we cannot claim to be civil & educated and yet argue with facts.

Interesting. Seems you are dwelling in the moment compared to the usual 3-scenes. Following keenly, like the era of watching Super story over a decade ago.

I do not want to comment on the plot so as not to influence your thoughts but if only she had stayed back...

Well said, but if this conspiracy is anything to go by i doubt that china would give a shit about "new" competition/loss of it manufacturing and supply chain in certain sectors for a greater gain in more important and critical sectors like Tech and finance .
Moreover America and Europe can't compete in manufacturing with china as it stands, they've moved past that.
Manufacturing will move to India and other close-by countries perhaps even Africa (Nigeria can take advantage if our leaders can see the big picture). I think China still needs the manufacturing sector, because Tech cannot provide all the needed jobs for its massive population.

So I heard there are security reports that actually made the banning imperative. But it seems the Lagos Govt is playing to the gallery by not targeting a particular section of the public that the reports actually indicts.

It makes no sense to punish all for the expected sins or antecedents of a part of the whole. Be direct, specific and honest!!! It pays in the long run...as you earn public trust.

Btw, whats 65 buses in a sub-national with the so-called 20M+ people? The government can do better with better engagement, profiling and a gradual reduction in phases while filling in the void with the provision of inner-city transport services.
