Angry reactions to Wikie, plus the vid below, is like indication Nigerians don't really want development unless it is food related . Ironically, one of the old stereotypes of black men is that they only think of their stomachs and prick. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tHtRcrAbvPM NSCDC Arrests 5 Truck Loads Of Railway Sleepers |
Reading through the thread, it becomes apparent that significant amount of Nigerians love junk, wallow in it and are altogether junk minded. So it is apparent then that any person in power like Wike who wants to clean up Nigeria cities, in order to drag the people kicking and screaming into the 21st Century, need to take the people out of Junk if Junk cannot be taken out of the people. Towards this end, perhaps ministers like Wikie need to target people that buy food/stuff from streetside sellers, if streetside sellers cannot be effectively gotten rid. Market Side Approach: 1) Abuja has some attractive organised markets. Wike needs to improve and expand these. 2) Wike could also create attractive zones along major roads with government created, modern looking Kiosks that road side traders could occupy. They are charged token rent fees or pay quarterly to for passes. Roads along which traders are permitted, red painted etc. Buyers Side Approach: 1) Wike 's government could implement resident education programs in which emphasis is placed on informing citizens of the security, health and economic hazards implications inherent in patronising road side sellers or hawkers. Buying encourages the tradition. 2) the government has patrol teams or part of policing will involve fines for motorists that buy from roadside vendors. This could be part of traffic violation laws etc |
Not long ago, before this Niger crisis, someone posted on Nairaland a map of Nigeria's gas pipeline to Europe. If I recollect well, the map indicated that the old pipeline route took it a direct line to Europe through Niger and Algeria etc. However, the route was changed and the new line winds along the costal west African nations , then through Morocco (?) etc. Is this not too much of a coincidence (it's as if the crisis in Niger was foreseen or people new what was coming )? This Niger thing becomes more odd, the closer one looks at it. |
Dudes face is clear in the photo - didn't watch the vid but it doubtlessly would be clear. Why aren't Nigeria official media houses interviewing his relatives? They should be easy to find, then the claims would be easier to quantify. |
Honestly, Chicken Licken should be required nursery and primary school reading across Nigeria. ChatGPT "Chicken Little." The story conveys the idea that spreading baseless rumors and acting on unfounded speculation can lead to unnecessary panic and chaos, which can have negative consequences. It's a cautionary tale about the importance of critical thinking and verifying information before taking action. ![]()

Sigh, and the era of Deep Fakes is near. ![]() If the Nigeria state can do nothing to control Social Media, it had better roll out National programs across tertiary institutions, educating people on how to handle information in the new age. Emphasis needs to be placed on reorienting Nigerians from our national Chicken Little mindset to one akin to Conan Doylian Sherlock Holmes. Our people need to speedily adopt enquiring, evidence seeking, minds. |
The Troll Houses have been so successful at rubbishing Nigeria on social media that the world and all of Africa have a totally false view of Nigeria and tend to grossly underestimate the country. |
Just imagin. Does Burkina fasso have pilots or are thire aircrafts flown for them by white people? The rest of Africa can be arrogant, no be small yet they'd be the ones calling Nigerians arrogant. The other day - after England females defeated Nigeria on penalties. One of the comments on one of the YouTube channels was a Zambian who stated that Nigeria should learn from the Zambia female team. On this issues of Niger, Social media is overrun by treats to Nigeria from - presumably - people of the Burkina fasso, Mali , Niger region. They posit Nigeria is a sellout yet they intent to rely on the aid of White Russians to help them against Nigeria. |
GYBABA:The more Brazil sidelines the African side of thire heritage in favour of the European one, the more boring and unexciting they become as a nation. They are loosing that excitement which came with the mere mentioning of the word Brazil. They are becoming paler and blander.... |
Fantastic. Too many people are yet to realise that high-tech ironically works best for developing nations like Nigeria. Technology simplifies things. |
Jesus, Nigerians are spoilt! Imagin, "Ex-Boko Haram Terrorists Protest In Borno Over Non-Payment Of Their Allowance" This can't happen anywhere in the world but in Nigeria where leadership run around like headless chicken trying to be like Abroad when Abroad people don't actually have an iota of rights compered to the average Nigerian living in Nigeria that effectively has no State. Anyway, I don't blame them, I blame Nigerians from Abroad that have so cussed and cursed Nigeria they have cussed the sense out of country. |
You Can’t Wait For Govt To Do Everything, Remi Tinubu Tells NigeriansThe first lady is right. Here's another example how the people don't help themselves by not helping themselves: Those people ("the peoples heros" (i.e militants )) that helped themselves illegally to Delta state oil on the justification that central government was exploiting the people's resources, what did they do for the broader Delta state communities with the undoubted billions they made, bootlegging oil ? Did they build even one solitary university? Nope, they built one for the people of Bini Republic instead. They only left a degraded land for Deltans, depriving them of the ancient fishing and farming means of sustenance. Yet these types of "people heroes" are forever online moaning about what the government did not do and trying to impress upon the masses that they care for them more that government does and are championing the people's rights. "Let the poor breath", my ass. Yup, any pun that arises from this is apt. They talk fart! |
ChatGPT: here are some negatives associated with rabble-rousing opposition politics: Polarization: This approach often emphasizes divisions and can lead to a more polarized society, making it difficult to find common ground for cooperation or compromise. Lack of Substance: Rabble-rousing tactics might prioritize emotional appeals over substantive policy discussions, leading to a lack of well-thought-out solutions to the issues at hand. Misinformation: In some cases, opposition leaders might exaggerate or distort facts to incite anger or fear among the public, contributing to a culture of misinformation. Short-Term Focus: The focus on stirring up emotions can lead to short-term gains in terms of public attention and support, but it might not lead to effective long-term change or governance. Violence and Disorder: In extreme cases, rabble-rousing tactics can escalate into violence and disorder, as heightened emotions can lead to confrontations between supporters and opponents. Lack of Accountability: Opposition leaders using this approach might avoid accountability by redirecting blame towards the ruling party without providing clear plans for improvement. Alienation of Moderate Voices: Rabble-rousing tactics can alienate moderate voices within the opposition who prefer reasoned discussions and compromise, potentially weakening the overall movement. Erosion of Trust: Repeated use of emotional manipulation and exaggeration can erode trust in society , leading to apathy, disillusionment or anger and violence among the public. |
The following 2 will rank high on my list of things preventing Nigeria becoming a relatively better Nation: 1) Little to functionally none existent Record Keeping. 2) Deviant Opposition Politics tradition. (Nigeria's opposition politics method is Rabble Rousing) |
livenija:They invested in railways but some of the people turned to killing and kidnapping of other of the people that used the train. Some of the people also pulled up parts of the railway line in order to sell the metal to some other people. They invested in bridges for the people but some of the people crept to the bridges at night and began to pull it apart. When the government complained, some of the people argued that it was the government's fault for not providing jobs. Those people that steal, destroy and kill are excused by some of the other people on the bases of the government's lack of social provisions. The wife of the head of the government says, the people need to contribute to each other and themselves because the government cannot lift up society on its own. She is right. |
Niger's border with Mali is also long, are they not brothers and cousins with Malians ? Or is it only thire brothers and cousins from Nigeria that cannot attack Niger people due to brotherly and cousinglyness? |
sniperwolf:If she was a silent achiever - won't ask what you mean, we have an idea - she wouldn't be known, photographed, noted on Niaraland or any other social media platforms or recorded by Guinness book of record or the relevant record book sponsors. |
Northern Elders Urges Tinubu To Remove All Sanctions On NigerQuoted must be a mistake, Nigerians are not this stupid. Perhaps the report meant, Niger Elders living in Nigeria Urges Tinubu To Remove All Sanctions On thire country Niger. Nigeria needs to solve and settle the issue of citizenship and Nationality however painful it turns out. Huge problem with Nigeria is one of not actually knowing who is who in Nigeria. Is Tinubu Nigerian? Is Mercy Johnson Nigerian? is that person you always thought was Nigerian and who spoke igbo and knew the ins and outs of Nigeria politics and hated Nigeria with a passion- is he or she actually Nigerian? |
derecho:Or Niger is behind it, in which case Northern Nigerians are the ones making brother, brother with Nigeriens who don't feel the same way towards them. In grammar: Northern Nigerians' overtures of brotherliness not reciprocated by Nigeriens ( you see how so-called big words shorten sentences). But as always, speculations are not facts. |
crossfm:Wait for doctors report , ke? No be Oakey-Oaksians we be, the people satisfied we tales not facts. |
I suspect the tons viewing came ready to throw insults at Nigeria only to discover the event took place abroad. And I suspect that half the ton of viewers are like this emoticon |
ebenezary:My mission is to play my part in informing as many Nigerians as possible of cutting edge world trends that mustn't leave them behind. I feel that it is important for even village children - whose horizons are shrouded by the trees they are forced by circumstances to cut down for firewood -to learn of star ships, thus broadening their world view , hopes and ambitions. Knowledge is good even for its own sake. |
incandescentena:I thought you are all starving in Nigeria? A starving man should welcome dry, mouldy bread. ![]() |
If I held the highest office in Nigeria, I would exploit the Nigeria people's obviously unshakable belief in witches and wizards to manipulate them in some ways I felt beneficial to the country. Maybe something like high institutes of learning called JuJu Universities. These universities will teach science and technology utilising the ethos Science is Magic. After all, just because one can explain how the forces of magnetism works doesn't mean it is not magic. There has to be a way in which something works. Knowing this shouldn't then preclude it's other names. Maybe when we use the imagery of magic to explain mathes and sciences to our young once, from primary to secondary school levels, they would absorb better, since we may be predisposed to understand things this way due to such beliefs system having been stamped on our DNA through the centuries. Witches and wizards manipulate molecules and atoms, thire incantations are the periodic tables, the secrete of the best potions are chemical formulas. Witches can predict future through mathematical symbols. |
To the Ivory Coast's President Alhassan Outarra, who has said that this is not a Nigeria versus Niger conflict but rather an ECOWAS versus Niger one, I respectfully ask the following questions: who will contribute 90% of the troops and foot almost all the bills of this force? Is it not Nigeria?Indeed. Nigeria has absolutely nothing to gain from intervening in Niger and everything to loose. In addition to the many negatives pointed out on Niraland and Media pundits, Tinubu should not count on Western help. The West will abandon Nigeria in short order: in any prolonged war, ( barley a month into it actually) their media will accuse Nigeria of human rights violation in Niger and sundry theatre, public outcry will then be exaugurated, US will begin to prevaricate and make demands on Nigeria, including disadvantageous economic and social concessions. The other ECOWAS members as usual hide behind bluster and imaginary superiority hyped by Troll Houses. Why has Ghana, that tirelessly claim they are giant of Africa not Nigeria, suddenly shtum? Ivory Coast, Senegal, Gambia etc have most to gain from the intervention since thire governments are reportedly more in danger of military take over than that of Nigeria. |
tnerro1:Best question if you're an onlooker interested in purchasing land lawfully in Lagos or if you believe you've purchased lamed legally. How does this topic relate to the circa 1974 law that handed all Nigeria land to the state with proviso that ethnic nationalities may have majority retuned by registering this with the state. The rest, government keeps for itself for the purposes of public developments ? Excuse any vagueness, my knowledge of Nigeria land laws are rusty and haven't bothered to refresh my memory. Hope my meaning is nevertheless understandable. |
