Epurogonogono:Many are not Nigerians, many more are not fully Nigerians. |
chigator2:So you believe bandits flew helicopter and attacked a village with it. In the history of all the more sophisticated terrorists activists from Algeria to the streets of Europe, even the Taliban, none ever flew helicopter but bandits in Nigeria flew helicopter. Al qaeda hijacked aircraft and flew at the US twin towers. Do you recall the planning that preceded ? And even if because of the most extraordinary exceptions bandits, and not a neighbouring nation, had the wherewithal to traverse Nigeria airspace, why would they attack a local village and not a higher profile military or government target? |
GloriousGbola:All this stuff about Nigerians criminality abroad are rubbish. If you doubt, try and find the various nations statics on crime by Nationality. Apart from India where they probably deliberately record all Africans as Nigerians, you'll find that Nigerians hardly feature in crimes. Some on niaraland may recall some years back all the fuss made about Nigerians criminality in the UK and how Nigerians full UK prisons and were going to be deported, yadda-yadda -ya! well what happened to all that? I'll tell you what happened, turned out that Nigerian numbers in UK prisons were negligible. Many Africans thought to be Nigerians weren't Nigerians at all. Investigations couldn't locate significant numbers to Nigeria so they couldn't be deported to Nigeria. |
Benmob:Actually if true they need to be shown for international viewership. Police need to conduct a televised news brief in front of a hall full of journalist taking questions. All information to do with the culprits nationalities, date of birth including relatives verifications, sponsors, the wherefore and howfore; in short, every thing except perhaps info that may jeopardized wider police ingestions.... |
Mods, Nairaland requires an International Politics forum. |
dettolgel:Nigerians are hardworking. The problem here may be to do with his expectations. Personally I've had wide ranging experience in the UK in menial work before attaining a professional qualification. I did morning and evening cleaning, worked as a security officer (Watchnight in Nigeria parlance ) parcel delivery, scaffolding, minicab driver, bawling club bouncer etc. I did these things because I was prepared for it since i did not have a glorified view of England before leaving Nigeria. You see, my family have had long standing association with uk. The guy that this thread references may be like many Nigerian that have been fed visions of Europe that are in reality far less grand. However this may depend on a Nigerian's class or and ambition since there are Nigerians for whom "Abroad" fulfils expectations or even surpasses expectations . For instance, an European, American or Asian country will appear and promise different things to an upper, middle, working and ghetto class Nigerian arriving for the first time. Where one class of Nigerian just wants to be in a country with electricity, home-pipe-born-water and paved roads another sees beyond these things and just wants a crack at a high paying job so he can earn enough to invest in Nigeria where he or she hopes one day to return in order to enjoy the sweet life particular to Nigeria. |
GboyegaD:If the roads are not fixed, why are okada driving on it not to mention endangering the lives of thire passengers on those dangerous unfixed roads? |
erico2k2:Funny you should mention that, you'll find that UK doesn't change much. It's not known as "old England" for nothing. Those 20 years ago reputation is just as relevant today. |
istina:Because they are trapped. When you burn your britches in Nigeria, shame as well as your practical position no go allow you return. |
If we had police in Nigeria, at least one or two of these murderess would have been captured at the scene and interrogated later. We would discover their identities or glean info that would help us prevent or prepare for another attack. Right now, if all the killers escaped and we don't quickly find them, they will commit other similar atrocities. |
Really, nothing prevents sponsors from Europe, middle east or Africa organising a convoy of militants recruited from Mali, Senegal, Burkina Fasso, Niger and Chad driving into Nigeria's open borders from the Sahel to Lagos, drive along Lagos highways shooting down Lagos busy commuters. We have no police to stop them and the military is too small. And the best part of it would be that ordinary Nigerians will be goaded by faceless online people to point the fingers at one another and then go to war with yourselves instead of the real external forces. These faceless online people will be typing, "coward Afonja", "Ipob miscreants", "Fulani president", "divide this country" etc up and down. And without knowing what these online people look like, or and if financed by the same terrorists sponsors, many of you actual Nigerians will be certain that they are Nigerians just as you will be happy to accept that the marauding convoy of murderers are Nigerians from one part of the country or another. |
Goodman247:Which country na passed country and what Nations' board set the exam and success criteria ? |
Ndibunna:Lol |
Juliet751:North or South? |
Burgerlomo:You got here by neglecting the basics. Here's why the basics matter: you cannot reasonably point to major issues or even successfully manage them without first tackling the basics. No point complaining of fever when you've not treated the infected cut. A few basics: 1) By having open boarders then pointing fingers at one another when the inevitable insecurity that arises from open borders occur. Nations from America to Pakistan are not stupid for taking border issues seriously. It aint really about skin colour that western nations ultra jealously monitor immigration. 2) For existing without a police force. 3) Having no police force and yet compounding this by having a paltry military in respect of population size and symbolic and practical importance of a nation like Nigeria to Africa and the black world. 4) Small military uncompensated by requisite technology as a multiplier. |
Juliet751:What country do you love? |
juman:Thousand of people are dying every month, just to keep this useless country America . Divide that country now!!! |
Tekuzukite:Deleted. Reasoning: the tread turns out to be one about spreading political messages and establishing agendas and not about the mob killing of an individual, it's condemnation and the offering of solutions on how to prevent similar acts in future. |
paulolee:Oh, I see, bad Nigeria leaders and Nigerian scammers created racism, unprofessional airport authorities and corrupt foreign police . ...or racism and these things doesn't really exists. Unlawful or questionable actions against Nigerians is due to bad Nigeria leaders, and when against other Africans it's not racism if the perpetrators say they thought they were maltreating Nigerians .... Nice one. |
lasisi69:Some individuals are invested in the narrative that Nigeria is poverty capital of the world, Nigerians live on less than one dollar a day etc. This picture of Nigeria helps fuel restiveness - psychology is very powerful. Therefor your suggestion, which implies that many Nigerians will afford the service somewhat contradicts the image of poverty stricken Nigeria ripe for dismantling .... |
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VQ9L5GuuxGA Reference @19:03 When I created a thread that argued how Nigeria would gain hugely from becoming an early investor in the rabidly growing EV industry, someone stated that Nigeria was not sufficiently developed. |
