I don’t know the receiver you’re using but when I rescanned my Strong SRT4663x and checked on the South Africa e. it demanded my pin after inserting the 6969 code. How did you get e to open since it seems to been fully scrambled?

@ Lovala,
Check at the bottom of Baba's post you will see the type of receivers he has
@All, Badaru1, butOneday:
Ma baad, I neg sorry o. i did the rescan with my ku band instead of the C-band he spoke about. forgive me for the oversight.

How do you get STV to go green on Sirius 4, 4.8E for I have been trying it out with 12662V2205 to no avail?

If you have problem of signal with astra 28 degree,just off and on your decoder,the green will pop up.

Also those watching pas 7/10 c-band should rescan,e south africa is on

@Sir George_D
I have been having problems trying to obtain the transponders of satellites on lyngsat unlike on kingofsat.net where the satellites have been listed and one just have to select and click to have them. On Lyngsat it is by shear luck that I get them. What really is the procedure, please? Just so I don’t spend a lot of time trying to figure out the particular web page for each satellite.

@BUTONEDAY
You really tease us with the features of the DM500S so much ones mouth runs with fta saliva.
Since you mentioned it here, let me just ask: what is the possibility of one obtaining a clone of the DM500S even on the ‘net given that it is out of production and maybe out of stock for now. I just contacted an outlet in the US and they said what they have is the DM600PVR.

[tracking astra2b using strong 4653X will only get CRTV and LTM on your satellite TVs, while the Multitv package will appear on the Radio service side, cos its only audio the receiver can work on and not the video, check the radio side, you will notice some names like Joy Tv, e.t.c./quote]
@Eni,
Thankx for your xplanation on the aspect of my question on Astra2b. What about the problem of reception of EW3a with different dish sizes? Is there a limitation on dish size and what is the working tp to hit it?
Satellite TV TechnologyRe: Official Thread Of Free To Air Satellite Tv (part 4) by lovala(m): 9:50pm On Feb 02, 2010
@all:
Please guys, for the first time in my fta life I got kicking and put on my tracking gear. I started with a new 25cm to 30cm (Eurostar) dish, that my equipment supplier brought to town. I also used a Eurostar lnb and Strong SRT 4663x decoder. I tried and brought down Sirius4, Astra 2B, NSS7 and Intelsat 7/10.I noticed that the channels on the F2V transponder (12562V30000) were easily cracking with this dish. Also, only 2 tps could turn green: the f2v above and that of Globecast (12605V29950) which also carried Canal 2 International, LMTV. BVN, Canalsat promo and Vox Africa. The tp for STV1 just like these others (12662V2205,12672V3300, 12674V10000, 12682V1482 and 12680H9404) remained red no matter what I did. Blind scanning revealed just the above two green tps. I also noticed that on Astra2B only the CRTV tp could go green even after Blind scanning and only CRTV was smoked out from the tp. I have been reading posts in which others caught multitv audio with no video with srt , 63x. I couldn’t get any other frequency although there were some radio frequencies broadcasting (I guess) from Ghana. My NSS7 revealed the normal French channels TV5Monde Afrique, France24, Africa24, LC2 and one other channel. The rest where scambled. Intelsat 7/10 revealed the normal array of Gospel Channels including Press TV, MyTV Promo, Pop TV (which is yet to commence broadcast), Mandani, Ahlubayt (‘scuse the spelling) and the scrambled channels. I tried all I could but couldn’t hit EW3a which according to what dishpointer.com states for my location should be plucked with an elevation of 83, Az of 229.5 and a skew of 49.4. After bagging in Sirius 4 (elevation: 80.9, Az: 240.2 and skew: 60) I hovered the dish about that same location expecting to strike pay dirt but to no avail. These are the tps I used for EW3a: 10962V3255 (Miramar TV), 10976(V)3333 Malagasy TV, 11105V3800 Go Africa, 11192V3210 (MBC 1,2), 12728V30000 TV Zimbo, and 11345H27500 for Africable which I got from Lyngsat.com.

I then started all over with a 65cm Sentoni dish. The only difference was that the f2v tp channels stopped freezing in place and were clear. Still, I couldn’t hit EW3a.

I have a 90cm strong dish that I’ll try next. It is presently fixed towards Intelsat 7/10. What I’ll want to inquire here is if EW3a is limited to 90cm and above dishes and also if it was the limitation of dish size that made it impossible for other tps on Astra 2B to go green. If not, please can any one give me the working tp for EW3a and other working tps for Sirius4 and Astra2b?

@George_D
Sir, please I’ll want to bore you because the question I am about to ask, you’d treated if I am not mistaking last season or the season before. But, I can’t locate the post. The question is this: Eutelsat W3a is said to be 7 degrees East and Sirius 4 is @ 4.8 degrees East. But, for us here in Yaounde, dishponter.com gives the azimuths for these birds to be at 230 and 240 degrees respectively meaning that we have to point our dishes to the West to hit them. Again, in Nigeria you people refer to the direction of DSTV and Canalsat to be towards the east while here in Yaounde dishes are pointed towards the western skies and I am sure dishpointer.com direction will be the same. What is the explanation for this disparity?
Satellite TV TechnologyRe: All About Dreambox Receivers by lovala(m): 1:54am On Jan 29, 2010
@ All,
For those of us who are not so good in installing dishes, the dreambox could be used to find satellites with ease. Just move your dish and the box will find the satellite for you.
@Butoneday,
How is this possible and how does this come about for I don't get it.

@King George_D!
Please, I’ve got FreeGate, GPass, GTunnel softwares which I presume can land me in the Internet freeworld. But, after installing and trying to use with my PC, I get stuck for I can’t get any connection. Is it because I am using directly with my PC? Do they have to function if one use them with a mobile phone and connect the phone to the PC to serve as a modem or is there a special proxy setting that must be respected before these softs can work. Another thing is that when I tried it out without my isp provider on it signaled no connection but with my isp on, I still could not get connected. What I would like to know in addition is how can internet connection be free if I’ll still be paying for the time used to connect through my service provider? I hope I am not breeching any forum law by this post. Oga moderator, abeg no block me o.

Muvi TV will be going the Multitv (Ghana) way by selling their own decoders and smart cards (the smart cards go with any CONAX adapted decoder) and the subscription is once for life.

@All:
It seems as if any new channel that seems to appear good on Intelsat 7/10 ku just changes direction and gets to become a subscription channel. The latest is MUVI TV based in Lusaka Zambia that popped up not long ago on this bird. By New Year’s Day 2011 if you haven’t gotten their subscription card, then forget watching them for the channel will be encrypted
Any way sha! We Go survive.

baba twin, abeg help me out here:

I am very much interested in he DAARSAT decoder because of its MPEG4 and DVB-S2 qualities. Given that the price (as stated here in this forum) is 18k, I would like to ask from you how I can get it since I am living in Yaounde - Cameroon? If i find any reliable individual coming to lagos, will it be possible for him to get in touch with you or any other brother hobbyist to pick up the box and accessories for me? Also, I'll like to know how to hook up the box with a strong set up box so as to make use of the blind scan property inherent there in (SRT 53x or 63x). May be this last part of my question should be reserved for when I've got the box, huh!

Thankx for your anticipated cooperation,
Lovala.

Buvs,

Just wanna know, is there a possibility of fixing the Strong SRT 4653x remote control (without which one cannot perform any meaningful task with the decoder? Mine slipped and fell from my wife's hand and stopped working. If it can't be repaired, is there the possibility of buying just the remote control? i hope in future Strong Technologies of such happenings.

Most remote controls could be fixed successfully unless it fall in liquid or the battery polarity is interchanged wrongly. What u do is have it opened up, u will see a rectangular box-like device on the panel sometimes close to the battery compartment and not on the surface where buttons are. It has two legs that are usually soldered down on to the board, one of it may have removed or cut due to continual falls. now, use your ingenuity to rebuild the broken leg and solder it back. You should be OK, you can then use a little super glue to hold the device to the board to prevent future occurrence due to shaking from constant usage. u can then save your money.hope this help u and others with similar remote issues.

From strong-technologies.com
SRT 4663X
Middle East and Africa users
1. Please download the two following files in a new directory of your hard disk drive:

Uploaders
SRTLOADER_Software_Uploaders_ Middle East & Africa.exe and save it as SRT4663X.exe

Softwares
SRT4663X_Software_Softwares_Middle East & Africa.stb and save it as SRT4663X.stb

2. Prepare the RS232 Cable (9 pin DIN Crossed Way) and connect it between PC and the receiver
3. Open the SRT4663X.exe file and choose the Firmware option to download the main software
4. Browse the file SRT4663X.stb and click Connect
5. Switch On the receiver. Download will start showing on the display =001, =002 ---- = 100
6. When it is finished, the display shows 0000
@all:
These are the instructions on how to go about downloading the required firmware for any given Strong box on the strong-technologies.com website.
I had already downloaded the uploader and software for Strong SRT 4663x unto my PC. I bought a DB9 Null Modem Cable with two female heads and used .t for the process. But I didn’t cut and crossed the cable as indicated in step 2. When I clicked and powered the power button on the stb after clicking the connect button on the uploader for the download process to begin, the COM1 pop up box started showing the percentage of the download process increasing from 1% to 100%. Concurrently on the stb the viewing panel figures started flashing from 1 up to 100. this surely shows that the cable is okay, right?
The problem which I have now is that when the download reaches 100%, an Erasing process begins from 1 to 100 followed by a writing process also from 1 to 100 and then it stops with the Cancel button active. The decoder doesn’t reboot and remains black as if it has been clicked off. When I click off and click on, it flashes the four green bars and dies off like what happened when I used the USB flash memory to carryout the upgrade. Does this still mean that the cable was not the right cable or is there something I am still missing? If the cable was not crossed would there have still been a downloading process given that I saw figures being displayed by the decoder while this was going on? If the software I used was the problem then why is it that when I changed the software to SRT4663x conax DVR the same problem persisted? I was given a site from which I downloaded a fix for this problem which I was to load unto the decoder to resolve the problem after downloading the software given that the Cancel button persistently stays on, but this didn’t help. What could have caused the downloading process to revert to an erasing process?
My best regards to all while I go look for some one who’ll help me make up an RS232 cross over cable. If this still doesn’t work then I guess I’ll send the box to my dealer to take it to Alaba for repairs, if that is even possible. That was where the srt4653x (which got hit by a power surge or lightening) was repaired.

Lovala.

@twinstaiye:

There are no strong dealers in the whole of Cameroon. We relly on these products from Naija. In fact the set up boxes here are mostly french type boxes which are solely fta without accommodation for the usage of smart cards except for what Canalsat dishes out here.

regards.
Satellite TV TechnologyRe: Official Thread Of Free To Air Satellite Tv (part 4) by lovala(m): 2:06am On Oct 07, 2009
You probably have a fake Decoder. If you are so sure you have an original one, take it to any Strong outlets, they will work on it for you, but they will surely reject working on it, if it is a fake. Goodluck pal.
@Twinstaiye:
Oga Moderator, I thank you so very much for your patience. All the others who helped in one way or another in pushing me in the right direction towards the resolution of my malaise, (for until I solve the problem with the 4663, it remains a malaise to me) I wanna say I am very grateful. FTA is for life and what is life if not tolerance. However, I pray I don’t become the cause for concern again in such a manner in the future albeit the fact that I regret ever flashing the decoder which I just bought from a dealer here in Yaounde. He got it from Alaba, Lagos since that’s where he sources all his electronic gears for sale here in his shop. If the 4663X Conax PVR is a fake then I’ve been taken for a ride. I do regret flashing it for it was working as smooth as a song until over sabi got the better of me. I’ll never go that far again without adequate advice from those who know.
what u need to do is what twinstaiye have just said above.and if u have the required materials for loading the firmware,then u can reload the right firmware.

what happened to your receiver is that u loaded the wrong firmware.but since it still displays light infront of the receiver when u power on,these are the things u need:

1-RS-232 CABLE WHICH MUST BE A CROSSED ONE.

2-STRONG LOADER.

3-THE RIGHT FIRMWARE.

CAHT ME ON DEJSAM 247@YAHOO.COM LET ME GIVE U DIRECTION OF HOW TO GO ABOUT IT.
@Desjam
Now, oga Desjam, is the RS-232 CABLE (which must be crossed) the same as a NULL MODEM Cable? ‘Cos some one hinted to me that the later can also do the same job. If not, will I be the one to cross the RS-232 cable or can one buy it already crossed? While waiting to get your take on this question, I’ll go visit a PC shop to see if I can get the cable.
I'll get back to you as soon as everything is set via your e-mail addy.
Thanks a trillion man.

Hello everyone in the fta family!
I pray I am not the first topost in this new season because the first post should not be a cry for help which I am about to do but a vote of thankx to the Almighty for granting us freedom to share and enjoy fta to the max. However, I have a very pertinent problem on my hands which I really don't know how to solve and I don't know if anyone has experienced this.

I replaced my Strong SRT 4653X with a Srtong SRT 4663X PVR and updated it using the software from strong-technologies.com using my usb flash memory. But, after the installation the decoder went off and refuses to power on. When I turn it on from the back switch, the lines of the front window panel come on and go off. The file I downloaded is SRT4663X_Software_Softwares_Middle East & Africa.stb. Now, does it mean that the decoder has been destroyed? The second mistake I made was that I haven't copied out the system information for the decoder. Is there any way to salvage the situation? I really need help and I pray I haven't destroyed my decoder. My e-mail ad is lovala@yahoo.com or lovala123@gmail.com

Thankx and welcome once again to season 4.
