frosbel: Given the fact that the New Atheists are becoming more bold and violent against Christians, and the fact that Atheism has the most violent history of all religions against followers of Christ, some Christians have become fearful. This is wrong. Fear leads to anger and anger leads to hate.

1. This fear, anger, and hate does not proceed from the Holy Ghost. It is not of faith. Whatever is not of faith is sin. Sin is what takes us out of the Kingdom of God and into the kingdom of Satan. Love is what takes us into the Kingdom of God and into the kingdom of God.

2. Avoid being drawn into arguments. You will find that the problem is almost never that the Atheist is not aware of their illogical thoughts. Even if you absolutely show them that their belief system is invalid, they will not turn. You must show them Christ in your life. They must see Jesus or they will never turn to Him.

3. How can we fulfill the command of God to witness fearlessly to the Atheists unless we love them and care deeply for their souls? There may even be physical danger in doing so, but there has always been physical danger in following Jesus. We are to pour ourselves out on God's alter, and this is part of that.

Talk about your experience with Jesus, how He leads you and speaks to you and does His work through you by His power.

If you wait for motivation to come to you then you might end up not doing anything for yourself.

It is better to motivate yourself! What you might be going through is the "dry period" where such things do not readily come to you. In such cases, you should be the one actively seeking those things. This is where your ability to persevere is tested.

We experience this "dry period" in almost every walk of life. It can even occur in your studies and the best way to hande it is to be a 'self starter'. At those times where it is difficult to get motivation from outside then you look inwards to find it.

Sorry for responding to this a bit late. I guess its better late than never.

Your definition of 'religion':



is quite interesting. Though it tells us a bit about an aspect of religion but it does not really define exactly what it is. Below are some plausible definitions for the word 'religion':

1) Belief in and reverence for a supernatural power or powers regraded as creator and governor of the Universe.

2) A personal or institutionalized system grounded in such belief and worship.

3) The life or condition of a person in a religious order.

4) A set of beliefs, values, and practices based on the teachings of a spiritual leader.

5) A cause, a principle, or an activity pursued with zeal or conscientious devotion.

If for no other reason at the minimum the definitions in bold fit into what we do as Christians. If a Christian proclaims God as creator of heaven and Earth and indeed the universe as well as show reverence to God then that individual is into religion by the first definition.

I really am struggling to understand the reason why some of us Christians deny the fact that Christianity is a religion. Would it make us less holy if we admit it? Or would it be tantamount to a rejection of Christ?

I agree totally with you when you said:



Christianity should be lived! Christianity should be seen in our every day lives. The fact that we are expected to live out our Christianity does not in any way imply that Christianity is not a religion.

Eze Promoe: I'm born Anglican but have been to Roman Catholic churches at different occasions but have noticed something worth of observation. Women are not ordained as priests in both churches. I know that there are some other churches that like this e.g Methodist, Baptist and so on. But Anglican and Roman Catholic having the highest membership in Nigeria, still remain our focal point. Why are women not ordained into service? Is it that they aren't capable or what? In Anglican churches and some other protestant churches, I may understand that their priests are permitted to marry, so women via there can still be part of the ministry as priests wives but in the Catholic churches were there Reverend Fathers aren't married how are women being part of the ministerial work? I know that they have the Supreme Mother and also Reverend Sisters but they're just as good as evangelists, I don't think they can run the church service in the absence of the Reverend Father. Don't you think that in this 21st century where the world is changing that some of these customs need to be amended? Look at the Pentecostal Churches for example, I see female pastors and God uses them mightily. Women need to be given the opportunity to answer to the call of God in some of these giant churches.

I am actually glad for comments like yours because people can see the lie that christianity is love- you can not accept people disbelieving and you make up all sorts of lies out of spite to deal with the reality that you cant handle!

By the way when will you fruitless attack on Religion end. You spend 19 to 22 hours of your daily life on Nairaland creating useless multiple threads and looking for Christians and Moslems to attack, at the end you have "not a single convert to atheisim" to show for it. Are you jobless or what?.
