OP wonderful thread. refiner:
In Romans 9 vs 16...so then it is not of him that willeth, nor of him that runneth, but of God that sheweth mercy. In addition to what the OP have said, Daniel 4:17 says This matter is by the decree of the watchers, and the demand by the word of the holy ones: to the intent that the living may know that the most High ruleth in the kingdom of men, and giveth it to whomsoever he will, and setteth up over it the lowest of men.Is Samuel 2:8 He raiseth up the poor out of the dust, and lifteth up the beggar from the dunghill, to set them among princes, and to make them inherit the throne of gloryThat's the definition of God's mercy. He makes the unqualified qualified. He makes the unfitted fitted to the role that's beyond their capabilities. Joseph, David, Daniel, Saul etc are all example of God's mercy. So that refiner and his cohorts in crime should continue applying worldly wisdom to God's words. |

Wikipedia as a source. It's alright. The science community all over the world has largely debunked the idea of Intelligent Design based largely on the fact that they don't have a demonstrable hypothesis despite the fact that the leaders of Intelligent Design movement are scientists. They can never have a demonstrable hypothesis. It's beyond their reason. It's beyond their capability. It's beyond their resources. Funnily enough they can't prove otherwise because the answers is beyond them. |

Christianity Etc › Re: To The Theist - Detailed Concept Of God by luvmijeje(f): 1:09pm On Apr 11, 2017 |
hopefulLandlord: exactly the problem
I'm not talking atheism here
you'll vote for people that will promote your interest, Muslim does the same; don't you see a problem here? Saudi Arabia in the making
BTW no one is telling you not to vote as you damn please, don't pull red herrings here
we are talking "inserting" your belief into it cuz logic states you need to prove you're worshipping the correct god, you're worshipping that god in the correct way without being biased
what we have however is that a Muslim and a Christian cannot agree on this and a the reason is simple, they both have "faith" they're right and the other is wrong, that leads nowhere I'm afraid
but on the flip side, if we assume both can be wrong and any of them can be right, we try to look at things in a pragmatic way (not atheism)
we would study the effect of religious noise pollution on the population eg sleep deprivation, environmental issues that lead to even more severe problems; study effect of underage marriage and "pedophilia" (I put it in quotes cuz having sex with a 12 year old is not pedophila in certain states); then a solution can be reached devoid of bias and doctrine but there's no logical way of ascertaining the validity or falsifiability of claims about "my God told me this is the right way"
as for me however, I would not automatically try to vote for an atheist just because he's one Nothing is in making. Welcome to the world of politics where majority will have their way and minority will their say. |

Christianity Etc › Re: To The Theist - Detailed Concept Of God by luvmijeje(f): 11:29am On Apr 11, 2017 |
hopefulLandlord: No! but they are inserting it gradually, you'll be delusional or extremely poor not to see how religion is influencing the constitution OR makes enforcement of laws impossible
age of consent is 18 but not only do we have underage sex; we have "marriages" (marriage means you can have sex anytime with the girl) to people below that age happening, that's just one example; we don't have age of marriage cuz it would be against Islam, so Muslims just marry 12 year olds and have sex with them
there are laws against noise pollution by speakers but if you go and report a church or mosque who violates that law, nothing would be done BECAUSE the person you're reporting to most likely attends a church or mosque that's guilty of the same misdemeanor That's why as an Atheist, elect people that will promote your interest. That's politics. That's what happened in every country. People vote based on their interest. You don't have the right as an Atheist to tell me not to vote based on who will protect my interest. Your right stop where mine begin. |

ACKCITY: First, Cain did not tithe but gave an “offering” unto the Lord of the fruit of the ground and a faithless one at that (Gen 4:3, Heb 11:4)
Second, Abram (Abraham) gave a tenth of the spoils of the war one time as was the custom at that time (Gen 14; He 7). Abram did so voluntarily, as a tribute to the high priest and king of Salem. There is no mention in the Bible that Abram tithed anywhere else in the scriptures.

Christianity Etc › Re: To The Theist - Detailed Concept Of God by luvmijeje(f): 11:03am On Apr 11, 2017 |
hopefulLandlord: it seems you're not thinking straight
how can progress be made when Muslims are trying to insert their god into politics, Christians try to do the same and Pagans also don't want to be left out?
this would lead nowhere but chaos, war, battles, disagreements, vendetta and before you know it someone like closet Shekau (I said like) becomes president, appoints his fellow book haram as cabinet, wields power over everything and suddenly you can't criticise Islam and have your head on your neck
on the flip side, if we ignore god ideas (this is not a debate on the existence) when it comes to politics, follow evidence and try to look at things in a pragmatic and less biased way, progress is definitely going to be made
the person you quoted doesn't need to "insert" his belief in no gods into politics, its the religious that need to cuz politics in a secular nation already isn't subject to any god; inserting god only leads to Theocracy And in what way are they doing it now? Are we not running under the Nigerian Constitution? |

The truth of the matter is we are not yet serving God the way we should. If you are, you won't mind selling everything you have just to make God's house alright. 2nd Samuel 24:24 King David says when he wants build an altar to God
But the king said to Araunah, “No! I must pay you for everything. I will not offer burnt offerings to the Lord my God that cost me nothing
That's a man that knows his God.
In the early church Act 4:34-35
34 Nor was there anyone among them who lacked; for all who were possessors of lands or houses sold them, and brought the proceeds of the things that were sold, 35 and laid them at the apostles’ feet; and they distributed to each as anyone had need.
If you have not gotten to the stage where you sells your landed property and bring the proceeds to the house of God, please let us have peace.
Ordinary 10% of what God gave to you, you're wailing everywhere. Please hold your money. |

What about men that have children by different of women.
The way so called men of God criticize and judges women and fail to apply the same principle to men is troubling and I know that's one of the reasons God is raising women ministers in these last days.
Jesus is pro-women. He defended a prostitute. He defended the maltreatreated wives. Jesus loves women and never judges us. |
