90,000 police men in four years = 90,000 policemen in 1460 Days This then equates to 61 Policemen being killed every day by Boko Haram for the past four years. 61 Policemen Killed every day for the last for years ? Surely the 90000 figure is a poor estimate which is obvious by the comfortable choice of 90000 over something like 89765 for example Waiting for the Military to release their own figure. |

The governors and senators from this zones clamoring for biafra need to stand up and make a strong statement on whether they are for biafra or a united Nigeria. The debate shouldnt just be about biafra but specific questions should be asked . Does every one in the current biafran map want to seceede from Nigeria ? Do they want to pull out immediately or sometime in future ? should biafra be based on culture/tribes or location ? Cos some Ijaws, Itsekiris and other minority tribes in areas like Bayelsa,Calabar,Uyo and Portharcourt may choose to stay in Nigeria. I highly doubt states like Akwa Ibom,Delta,Rivers,Cross River and Bayelsa would want to join biafra . If those states are for a united Nigeria, Biafra can be fully allowed to leave Nigeria ![]() Afterall,Anambra and Imo also have small oil ![]()

Good Article. However, Failure is a key component. For every Bill Gates, There are probably over 100 people who have tried and failed. the guy who owns the TOMS footwear brand failed in three previous businesses before he found success. One should never give up despite the failures even though its easier said than done. At the end of the day, i believe to make it is not as difficult as staying on top. Ask Nokia,HITVKodak and Blackberry who were industry leaders. Quality Education,Research and Innovation is the way forward for any business. Motivational Speakers are a waste to time. In summary, when you feel/think you have made it, you need to be grounded and realise that staying relevant is an even harder task and there are upcoming ideas coming up everyday to throw you off the top and the top can only take limited amount of people. |
NYSC was created as a means to foster national unity. The most tribalistic people i know are graduates who have passed through this NYSC Scheme. Growing up as a child, My best friend was from Edo state. I learnt alot about their culture and even enjoyed eating Ema and Black soup in their house. Thats what fostering of National unity is about. Waiting till you finish from the higher institution to attend the almighty NYSC before you can appreciate national unity is a big waste of time as your mindset is already made up. Nysc also causes delay. So many of us could have gone fo our Masters Degrees immediately after graduation but it was not possible because we had to wait for 6 months NYSC posting and then do the NYSC for a year; Thus wasting 1 and a half years. So many brilliant students could have been recruited from Uni or Poly, but no nysc, no job unless you runs it. NYSC Should be banished and the savings should be invested in quality public primary and secondary education. That is where minds and mindsets are shaped to ensure proper national integration . The National Orientation Agency also needs to step up and do a lot of work. I was suprised of recent when two yoruba parents named their daughter Ngozi. They also named her Ibukun which means blessing. That is an example of National Integration. |
Ozil has 9 Assists in the League this season |
As an Arsenal fan, i pray and hope they let mourinho stay till the end of the season. ![]() Mourinho is a Mercenary. He needs 200 Million pounds to win anything and he can stay in a club for more than three seasons straight |
Great story. |
AutoAffair:This phone number you put up is not going through. Can you provide another phone number ? |
This kogi man is highly intelligent and will make an excellent minister of justice. |
Na wa for this professor. His answers are very myopic and he doesnt show a deep understanding of the issues. For him to say Nigeria should copy the model of Joseph Ayo Babalola UNiversity to solve the employability issue. Even JABU graduates dey find job sef. His answer on cultism was very weak. And students of UNILORIN will come and start saying their school is this and that. With professors like this, it is no wonder that UNILORIN can have only 69 First class graduates and 1392 Second class upper graduates out of 6710 graduates. https://www.nairaland.com/2679525/69-bag-first-class-6710 Funny thing is if you put the same 6710 graduates through schools like Harvard or Oxford uni, I can guarantee at least 800 First class graduates and 5000 second class upper graduates from my naija brothers and sisters. ![]() Is UNILORIN better than harvard or oxford ? Education is meant to be relevant and not just difficult and with almost 70Percent of graduates not making a first class or 2:1, i see it as an indictment of UNILORIN and other government owned universities who believe a university should be rated by how difficult rather than how relevant and efficient the teaching is. I hope he performs in whatever role given to him. |
I am not a lawyer but from my little understanding, i believe adjourning this case at the CCT is the best option. The matter at the appeal court should be settle first. If the Code of Conduct Tribunal gives a verdict, while the case at the appeal court is still pending, that is a dangerous signal. and can be used by sarakis lawyers to their advantage to fight out the whole process of the CCT after verdict has been passed. However, if the appeal court rules on the matter before the CCT gives its own verdict, more likely than not, there would be no escape for the senate president. Thats my own common sense understanding. Lawyers in the house can educate me if i am wrong. Thanks |
So many misconceptions about this biafra of a thing. I dont think every south easterner supports the biafran idea we need like a vote as in the case of scotland to see the number of south easterners that support biafra. Secondly, if biafra is granted independence today today, what next ? how will the existing south eastern senators exit the Nigerian Nation amongst other factors such as who will be president and resource control. Unless i am naive, i am of the opinion this nnamdi kanu biafran movement is all about give us biafra, then when we get to the bridge to exit nigeria, we will cross it. I personally believe had Ojukwu not asbconded after the civil war like a chicken and had he died a martyr on the battlefield, the next generation would have had at least an extra motivation to support the biafran thing |
I personally dont believe in all this screening. It only attempts to give some relevance to the whole process of governance. There is no empirical evidence that those that were asked questions and answered excellently well would perform well as ministers and vice versa. In as much as it would have been important for the questions to have been asked, i dont think asking or not asking questions is critical to her performance as a minister which is all that matters. If you still feel bitter about it, recall the senator of the district you voted for and ask him why he didnt interupt the process of her taking a bow by staging a protest. |
I respect the list and even some that didnt make the list such as Iroko TV However, i think we need to be wary of globalization. For every konga, there are over 1000 websites all over the world including the likes of Asos,Amazon and Macys that now ship directly to Nigeria and have a wider variety of products. Jobberman as far as i am concerned should not be on that list as they dont provide any value added service. I remember them copying jobs directly from hotnigerian jobs and they were caught red handed. Just google hotnigerian jobs jobberman and see for yourself Interswitch is trying but their verve card is no where near mastercard or visa card. The Gamsole company is trying but not even close to what can be obtained globally. Nigerian Tech companies are trying but Globalization and the will of Nigerians to go for foreign brands over local is a big problem not to talk of funding and infrastructure in Naija. All in All, The world is flat. |
Following. Still wondering how dotun and sunday will die |
Gowon said: “...Ojukwu ran away and left these poor people that he led into such suffering…just left them…I hope his conscience will allow him to rest. God knows.” Happy Birthday to Yakubu Gowon. |

Thrilling update. I really commend and thank you for the consistency and quality of your updates. Thanks. |
This is not funny but highly disturbing. Posted something about education being elitist earlier today. Only few excellent teachers are in the public primary schools. Some of these teachers in public primary schools are not computer literate either with poor teaching facilities in those schools hence you have to take your child to a private primary school and for a state like lagos you pay at least 100k per year on fees. Those on minimum wage cant afford this. It is tragic that quality primary education has now become a luxury rather than a necessity. A primary five student should be able to read what this woman is struggling with. If you can send your child to a public primary school with all confidence, i salute you. Even some private primary schools are even worse than public schools because of poor regulations/oversight. Advice to all is to hustle hard cos children school fees to get quality primary education isnt beans o especially in Lagos |
Lai Mohammed ![]() Too Controversial even in his absence |
Remii:Good Question. Do you also know the fee for an average private primary school in Lagos for a year is often more than the school fees of some Federal Universities for four years ? we can send our children to public universities but we cannot send our children to public primary schools ? All the funds meant to strengthen Primary and Secondary schools are spent on Universities so that students in Unilag and co can pay 30,000 naira per year on school fees , Spending more on the roof while neglecting the foundation and pillars. Thats the story of Nigeria. |
kokoA:She is 48 years old. She graduated at the age of 22 or so from the University of East London |
Its amazing the number of Ministerial Nominees who have schooled overseas at one point or the other. This is consistent with my fears that education in the next few years may become elitist. Unless the average man/woman gets a scholarship to study overseas, there would be a serious problem. Average age of graduates in schools like Babcock and Covenant is 21 years old. Most of their parents can afford to send them overseas to the best universities for their Masters and Phd degrees and fund it too. The only reason the likes of Unilag and OAU are prominent now is simply because there were no private universities before 1999. Only solution is for schools like Unilag,Babcock,Covenant and OAU to be as good as Harvard and Oxford . |
FreeGlobe:Did you just say International Standard ? Three questions. Define International Standard Mention Three Examples of this International Standard Mention three Nigerian airports that meet up with this international standard based on the so called remodelling |
I pray that our loyalty may never be tested-Fashola |
I'm tired of all these political commentators. Key thing is to do a baseline capture of where we were May 29 2015 and where will be as a nation in 2019. The end justifies the means . I will measure buhari from the results not just efforts . It's not the student that collects the most extra sheet in exam that passes. I personally think Nigeria as nation will be better with buhari come 2019. |
Na wa o The Amina woman killed them and they had to stop her to take a bow and go. When you are good, You are good. Senators just got lectured |
I respect your imagination . The scene where you described how sunday and the rest got their powers by been devoured by dogs is just priceless. That's excellent imagination and creativity at its best. The story is thrilling and I have to say that your very first update is one of the best I've ever read on nairaland. I don't often comment till a story is done but if you wish you to end it here I respect your decision but plead with you to have a change of heart. Still wondering how Sunday and Dotun will be killed... |
Isawo in Ikorodu is the hq of these pipeline vandals. Believe it or not, there are more petrol stations in Ikorodu than any other part of Lagos. Malo/giant star alone has over 10 . I hope this vandalism is handled once and for all. It might be difficult because Ikorodu is actually a very large local government in terms of land mass and so many streams that link to each other hence the need for aerial survelliance. |
