I personally believe there has to be a reform in the civil service across all MDAs for this country to move forward. For every Politician,Minister or Military man that steals money, a civil servant must be culpable. Theres no way Dasuki could do anything without the role of a civil servant. If the Civil Service is not reformed and that perception that once you are a civil servant, you will have a job for life needs to be rejected. It is going to be hard because the unions wont agree but the civil service( across the Federal,State and Local Government) is one of Nigerias most critical problems. |
Raziii:I agree. But getting to the top is the easy part. Staying at the top and remaining there is the hard part. Just ask companies like Kodak and Nokia.I personally Dont see the added value jobber man provides compared to sites like hotnigerianjobs. But we like hype in Nigeria rather than tangible value added and when you give your opinion you are labelled bad belle or hater or what have you achieved. I wish them the best but the perception people have about their company leaves a lot to be desired. |
Only In Nigeria will this nonsense happen. And to even think almighty UNILAG students pay 17500 Naira for school fees. Thats less than 100 dollars at CBN rate o. And yet its the same Schools that will say they want world class facilities. Every Public University should be autonomous and run themselves and should only receive research grants and endowments based on quality of research from government. If You attended a public univeristy in Nigeria, Congrats to you. You were on scholarship. Theres no way the school fees you paid could have funded your uni. The repercussion of this is that the Nigerian Government is spending heavily to subsidize the school fees uni students pay thus resulting in a neglect of public primary and secondary schools. Goodluck opened 7 new universities. WHen last did any Nigerian government open a new Federal Government college in any state ? When last did any state governor open a new public primary school ? The end result is that most of us reading this will never send our children to public primary schools which we should if it was up to standard. A cheap quality private primary school in Lagos costs 30-50 thousand naira per term and from 100k per year. On the Average, you will discover that in Nigeria it is more expensive to get quality primary education than University Education. Ask around and you will see quality primary school education is much more expensive than what these students are protesting for. This is wierd because primary school is for everyone while university is not. But what can we do when government continues to heavily subsidize Higher education while neglecting the foundation ? |
hungryboy:We all have our personal preferences. However Johnny has 41 Million Views on Youtube and believe me the views were not bought.Show me another Nigerian artist apart from Psquares personally that has 41 million views on youtube for a single video ? Even record labels that buy views cant buy that much sef. I prefer yemi alade as shes more versatile in her style and she even sang a song in french and another in swahili. Her best songs i like are: Johny,Kissing,Nagode,Taking over me and the mostly underated Bamboo song she sang. You can literally feel her rich natural voice rather than singing through her nose which tiwa does. I give it to Tiwa too but i simply think for now Yemi Alade is the Queen by a close margin. |
I am a Nigerian of Yoruba origin but if this man continues his good work I will campaign for him to be president someday.I just pray he doesn't change during his second term and keeps on working hard. He's a working governor and he doesn't shout and he has a clear vision for his people. If he keeps up the good work he just may be president of Nigeria one day. |
All in all, I hope people are given pre paid meters. Electricity in my area is so poor that i paid just 15k through out last year for electricity simply because I have a prepaid meter and this fee includes the fixed monthly charge of 750 naira. Now the fixed charge has been removed i will be payin much less.A barber on my street gets an estimated billing of 3500 per month which comes to over 35k per year. Appliances I have and use is almost tripple the barbers shop and we are on the same street. Prepaid meter for everyone and I'm sure the discos will run down which is why they Dont want to give meters. |
Let us use MBA as a case study. with the exception of Lagos Business School, i havent seen any MBA in Nigeria that meets international standard. A business school is a huge indicator to the quality of a university if it exists. The Lagos business school for example represents PAN atlantic university and they have a vibrant website. UNILAG on the other hand and OAU ife i doubt have specific websites that caters for MBA programs as is the norm in almost every other country. Lagos business school has quite a number of executive education courses that you can see easily from their website. I cant say the same of other private universities and public universities. There is an African Association of Business Schools(AABS) society that aims to enable business schools in Africa to contribute towards economic growth and development. Only three universities in nigeria are part of the AABS; Pan atlantic university, OAU and UNILAG. what happened to the rest. Further more , in MBA there are three major accreditations to access the quality of the program. The three are AACSB,AMBA and EQUIS. No single Nigerian university has even one for its MBA program whereas University of Cape Town Graduate School of Business, Cape Town and University of Stellenbosch Business School, Cape Town have all three and some other schools in SA have one or two. Affiliation is also key and method of teaching. Lagos business school teaches using the case method as pioneered by harvard business school. LBS also has affiliations with other top business schools across the globe to share knowledge and content. I dont know if any other uni in nigeria has such for their MBA program. Even if public unis dont have money i am amazed that the private unis are not running things. I could go on and on and mind you my focus is just on MBA. if we start taking the other courses one after the other then you will understand how far back nigeria is and why no reasonable international student will come here. |
Well done flakky. Only if this can be made to a TV series. It just keeps getting better. In terms of the width and depth of individual character development. I have to say this is my best ever story on Nairaland. Almost every character can have their own spinoff story. Brilliant writing flakky. Can't wait for the cliffhanger regarding what jaiye always wants to see Jane for and what rekias secret is. |
There are so many potential yunusa yellows on this thread. Keep it together. Shes a minor. In other unrelated news , omotola needs to start acting again. That's her talent and I think shes one of nollywoods all time best |
I personally believe as a christian that one has to pray and hear from God before committing to marriage. Will of man is often different from the will of God but we more often get carried away in the sensationalism of dating. Fascinating proposals and carnival wedding ceremony while neglecting the need to ask God if the foundation is right. As the poster above me said the end result is suffering and the smiling if any is a bonus. Thanks for the mention flakky and I salute your writing its almost like a true life story. Respect. |
Thanks for the update. Fascinating as ever |
Problem with Nigeria is that if the current Minister of Finance has to be replaced, Her replacement can only come from Ogun State and no other state unless another minister from another state is fired say from anambra state then the Ogun state slot can replace the fired anambra minister while someone like Charles Soludo can then replace the current Minister of Finance. Way too early in the administration to do all this |
I am no economist but I see some cherry picking in some of his points. There's a difference between a rule and am exception. Using Vietnam, south korea, russia and Japan as examples doesn't show if they are the rule or the exception and and as such to equate them with the Nigerian situation considering the different socio economic factors make his arguments vague. For every country he used to justify his arguments who is to say there are not other countries that can be used to counter his argument ? Cherry picking at its Best. I must however agree that some of his points are valid |
Please complete it |
Shocking to say the least if it is true. Education is very critical especially at primary school level. The dilemma in urban cities like Lagos,PH,Kaduna and Abuja is that you cannot even think sending your child to a public primary school not to even talk of rural areas. It cost about 80k per term to get an average private primary school . That is about 240k per year on tuition fees. You pay 240k per year for about 9 years of private primary school education. Imagine you also have a child in UNILAG, school fees of UNILAG cost less than 100k per year. In other words, IT is cheaper to get a university education in Nigeria than quality primary education. Nigerians are paying more to train their children in primary schools that should be of the highest quality and free. Education is thus Elitist. If you are poor , you can send your child to schools like this one El Rufai is feeding. If you want quality, be ready to cough up over 300k per year per child. Whats the Minimum wage again ? I just tire for Naija. ![]() |
Millionaire in what ? If you are not a millionaire in dollars, You are not a millionaire at all. You dont want your millionaire status to be changing with the time zone such that you think you are a millionaire in Naija only for you to land in UK or US to see your Naira Millions turn to "coins" all of a sudden ![]() Ice Prince as with Most Naija artistes cant show evidence of 2 million dollars cash. Politicians and corporate execs such as Kola Aluko,Akpabio,Taiwo Afolabi and Danjuma can effortlessly show evidence of 20 Million dollars. However, this babes cant be putting this babas on instagram and all so they use naija artistes to front. A one week luxurious trip to paris can cost anything from 50k dollars. Ice prince will need to perform over 5 shows to even afford that. First class ticket only na money for one show. For him to meet up to her needs, he will sing and rap sotey even strepsils will give him endorsement cos of sore throat. Whereas most of these Ole babas have their own private jet and all. No Contest. If a girl is with you just for the money, omo na lost cause because there will always be a higher and better baller. |
In the words of sunny nneji: Fine baby wey no dey shame, Na Gbanjo for Jankara |
I Like Aramide. Dont know if her record label will release her. |
refreshrate:Breathe in and Out 10 Times then use Google. Cheers. |
I am indifferent to the whole netflix thing. I was able to download Beast of No Nation on Torrent 24 hours after it was released on netflix. Sherlocks Abominable Bride was on torrent, three hours after it was released. Even series exclusive to Netflix such as House of Cards and Orange is the new black are often avalaible on Torrent. Netflix even makes it easier to download because they release all the episodes to their series at the same time i think. Downloading on torrent is free and sweet if you work in an office that doesnt block torrent. If i want to watch Nigerian Movies, i visit youtube and watch them for free. Streaming Movies on Netflix in Nigeria doesnt make any economic sense for lyoncrescent unless all torrent websites are banned. |
rapmike:Please define international presence. Cos unless you want Olamide to feature Adele, I can authoritatively tell you that Olamide performed to a sell out crowd to two cities in the UK and may other western countries. There is a large Nigerian Population in the diaspora from canada to USA to UK and he targets this markets and performs there. He is not trying to be like Asa or Kunle Ayo. You can have 1 Billion followers on twitter or instagram, if it isnt commercialized it means nothing. Your definition of Online presence is over stated. Twitter followers and Instagram followers can only vote. As a knockout punch to your online presence and the one that actually makes money because the more views you have on youtube especially from 1 million views above, you make a certain amount from advertisement. You know that five second ad you have to watch compulsorily before you skip. IN THE YEAR 2015, HERE ARE THE MOST WATCHED VIDEOS ON YOUTUBE BY PEOPLE IN NIGERIA AS PER YOUR ONLINE PRESENCE: Top 10 Music Videos watched in Nigeria in 2015 as generated by Youtube. Olamide – Bobo [Official Video] Flavour – Ololufe Ft. Chidinma [Official Video] PSquare – Collabo [Official Video] ft. Don Jazzy Wiz Khalifa – See You Again ft. Charlie Puth [Official Video] Furious 7 Soundtrack Olamide – Falila Ketan [Official Video] Kiss Daniel – Woju [Official Remix Video] ft. Davido, Tiwa Savage WIZKID – OJUELEGBA Olamide – Melo Melo [Official Video] Olamide – Lagos Boys [Official Video] DAVIDO x MEEK MILL – FANS MI (Official Music Video) References: https://www.naij.com/663085-2015inreview-bobo-olamide-watched-video-2015.html http://ynaija.com/olamide-is-the-king-of-music-videos-in-nigeria-in-2015-see-top-10/ Olamide has 4 out of the 10 most watched music videos on youtube in 2015. What were you saying about online presence again ? ![]() Abi the Rekadicts and Mamalets no get data to watch videos online but have data to vote. ![]() Mind you, people like KSI on youtube make money simply from views on his gaming. If you have one billion facebook, twitter and instagram fans and you arent commercializing. Its all noise. Omojuwa you referred to may not be as rich as dangote, but if not for twitter and online pressence , he probably wont have half the wealth he has. He needs twitter. Musicians need Youtube. Adele is almost on 1 Billion Views on youtube if not more on her new single. Musicians need more views on youtube than retweets and likes and sharing recharge cards. Which Nigerian has ever won a grammy ? Be a king in your own Land and People in the UK and US will start calling our own music international . Finally, Please always remember, IN THE ENTERTAINMENT BUSINESS,IT IS ALWAYS ABOUT THE MONEY ![]() |
You are an excellent writer of fiction but i disagree with your comments. Olamide Live in Concert was the biggest show last year which was way bigger than the mavins concert. YBNL is also a more successful label based on performances last year. Even Don Jazzy tweeted before the headies that young john is the producer of the year. Let me address your points directly. 1. YBNL is not a strong brand online and Olamide is just a local champion. Street Music is music people in the office and the average barber, conductor and vulcanizer can listen too. YBNL Brought Shoki to the main stream. YBNL brought shakiti bobo dance to the main stream. If you ever go to a club, beach or a party, Lil Kesh and Olamide are often on heavy rotation. Olamide had a concert in the UK in Birmingham and London sometime in October and it was sold out i think. Google is your friend. I personally dont believe in online votes. I am an IT guy and believe it or not, online votes can easily be compromised. There is even a company in India which specializes in doing such. they just get multiple people to vote for you by using proxy servers or changing IP addresses. This could also have worked for Adekunle. Forget sharing of recharge card online, Money is not made online. Money is made on the street via shows, endorsements and album sales.Even Phyno was a producer and he said that he decided to go into rap when he heard Olamide. Google is your friend. 2.Adekunle Gold won with Sade instead of Dija,Asa,Bez,Ugovinna and Simi. If you know music, you would know that sade was a mainstream song even though i think Simi or Asa should have won. Rekado Banks over Lil Kesh on the other hand is illogical. But just like you said votes count but Olamide made a huge point: Lil Kesh released Lyrically,Shoki,Shoki Remix,Gbese and Efe Jo ku;All of which were club/party bangers. M Banks released Catapot and one other song like that. I think Kiss Daniel should have won easy cos the Woju ,Laye and Raba songs were dope.Believe it or not,HAd Kiss Daniel won,Olamide would have accepted. Same Rekado BAnks won rookie of the year last year simply by just featuring on dorobucci. 3. I agree with you. 4. With all due respect,we talking money, you are talking nonsense. Google is your friend. Fashola when he was governor attended Olamides Childs Naming ceremony. I repeat, Olamide Live in Concert was the biggest music concert last year. Olamide shut down the UK . With Lil Kesh and Adekunle Gold, YBNL is becoming a top record label though they are not there yet. Lil Kesh has an endorsement already. Olamide is an etisalat and Guinness ambassador. Olamide has released 5 Albums in 5 Years. Street Music i repeat is music people in the office, students and the hustler in computer village can relate to. for example you make like phyno and chukwudi the spare parts dealer and stundents can also love phyno that is street music. You may like Bez but majority of students ,chukwudi and his counterparts dont feel him, thats not street music. Tell me Shakitit Bobo and Shoki dance steps were not the biggest phenomenon last year. Only very few artistes in Nigeria made more impact or even money than YBNL last year. Olamide grinded on his own with his own record label apart from his first album when he was with cabassa i think. Olamide was wrong as he was obviously drunk for swearing on tv but Olamide is a living legend and i will tell you why cos every one wants to be Olamide and Olamide is still alive. P.S. Street ti Take Over. Music for the Masses. Let Timi Dakolo or Bez do a Timi/Bez Live in Concert in Eko Hotel and lets see how far. If they sell 1000 tickets, let them do Thanksgiving. OLIC was over subscribed for like bank shares |
I like omotola and no pun intended but i think she needs to start doing what she knows how to do best which is acting. All this endorsements and over glamorization is cool but i am not even sure she acted in any movie last year and with the exception of Aje and Last flight to abuja, i cant remember any excellent movie she has acted in the last five years or so. Her music career is/was a disaster. I was amazed at the poor content of her reality show which made her seem larger than life. She cannot rely on past glory for long. Even the likes of Angelina Jolie are still hustling and she has advanced to directing. I Like Omotola, but she and Genevieve need to realize that past glory wont work any longer especially when beauty starts to fade and hey start having grey hair coupled with other potential young stars blowing up. Funny enough, acting is one of the very few careers, that does not have any retirement age. ![]() |
There is no proof that Sophia exposed her child to Cannabis apart from hearsay so far. There is 100 percent proof Sophia is the biological mother to Imade There is also 100 percent proof Coco is not the biological mother to Imade If there is proof coco presented herself as imades mother, that is impersonation and her passport should be seized. I also dont know why they will take someones daughter out of the country without the express permission of the mother no matter how irresponsible the mother is proclaimed to be. Even a mad woman must be certified mad before authorities can take away her child. Adeleke Family should prove sophia is unfit to be a mother and then seek sole custody with visitation rights. Anything short of that is just illegal and using wealth to bully hereven though she herself may not be a saint. Sophia may not be a saint, but she carried that child for 9 months, she is the biological mother to that child and she should have custody until a court of law proves otherwise. |
When i heard change i expected a shock therapy to the Nigerian state by Buhari as done by Thomas Sankara. Even though Sankara was a Military man, there are some things he did which i expected of Buhari. Sankara: He sold off the government fleet of Mercedes cars and made the Renault 5 (the cheapest car sold in Burkina Faso at that time) the official service car of the ministers. He reduced his salary and forbade the use of government chauffeurs and 1st class airline tickets. He opposed foreign aid, saying that "he who feeds you, controls you." |
Shame Sham What of all the tools and stuff used by GEJ ? Why are we getting new ones of almost everything ? This is shocking. Please kindly google Thomas Sankara. He in my opinion is even greater than Mandela for what he did for Burkina Faso. He didnt even have an Air Conditioner in his office because in his words "Most of the Burkina Faso People dont have Air Conditioners " He also made Renault the Government official car as it was the cheapest car then. He led by example and in five years made burkina faso self sufficient. Drastic times require drastic and cost cutting measures and this breakdown is just sad and tragic. I voted APC but unless someone can provide a superior logic on why such an amount is needed, i would have to see this breakdown as a disappointment. Must it even be BMW, Why cant they buy Innosson ? Funny enough, I work in a Government Agency where all the staff buses are Innosson while the Directors got the latest Toyota Land Cruisers and the General Managers got Toyota Corolla. Wonder why they didnt buy Innosson for everybody ![]() |
Only GOD in heaven truly knows who truly worships him and at the end, our sole aim is to make heaven regardless of denomination. Celestial Church of Christ is one of the misunderstood churches and its also bad to generalize but the truth of the matter is that its easier to find Gold in Ilesha than to find a true Celestial Church of Christ. The church is based on the word of God and Spiritual gifts. This gifts require holiness and walking in the light of God which isnt easy. So when they start doing bad things , the spiritual gifts leave and they are then forced to get the fake power from the other side. Things of the spirit cannot be deciphered with common sense thinking. For all celestial church of Christ members, i dedicate the three songs below to you all. I used to attend celestial but i now attend a Pentecostal church but i cant get enough of the ccc hymn songs. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cJftt_KSJC0 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8R4O-E8bvXs https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZNktbA2h2Ao |
please who knows the name of the song at the beginning of the video ? It is almost as if the radio biafra thing is a one man affair or is the station still running ? Funny thing is if Biafra eventually succeeds, i wont be surprised if Nnamdi is not made the president/prime minister. |
In terms of the election coverage,TVC News was way way better. They had video coverage in almost all the states where elections were held. When TVC was showing live coverage of happenings in the INEC Center in Rivers State, Channels was busy showing audio phone call with their own respondents on ground. If you truly followed the elections, you would agree TVC did a much better job. I found myself ditching dstv to my local antenna just to have access to TVC. Dilemma however is that TVC is not on DSTV and as a result of that, i have not had any cause to watch them since after the election to do a more thorough comparison with channels tv. TVC should work on joining dstv so as to also be viewed nationally as i am not so sure TVC is avalaible in all 36 states and the FCT on local antenna whereas being on dstv will give them that |
