This is the root cause of the problem. Tinubu is a very liberal Muslim, and the North doesn't want a Christian as they feel their core interests will not be represented.

Actually, more Christians voted for Jonathan as APC was presented as a Muslim party even in my local environment. But that is a topic for another day.

As for Boss Mustapha, feelers indicate that he isn't interested.

Getting VP isn't just about votes, it is also about working with someone who you are absolutely comfortable with.

Finally, the Northern Governors should at this time show their worth. Even if Tinubu chooses an unknown Christian candidate, they should fight to market him.

Hon. Yakubu Dogara has two issues against him

1. He isn't a heavyweight politician, not even in his own state of Bauchi
2. His perception as someone who will rock the boat to get power.

What Tinubu needs is someone who is absolutely loyal, someone who will be a friend, a brother and stick with him in the trenches.

In my view, such a person is Nuhu Ribadu....but he is plagued by issue number one. He no get weight.
Another person is Boss Mustapha from Tinubu's ACN days....but he doesn't seem interested.

Shetima is competent and nice but he is not a heavy wing in Northern politics. If I am in position of Tinubu and I have accepted to go with a Muslim Muslim Ticket, I will choose a strong politician like Ganduje or El Rufai who cannot be pushed over. Shetima as ex governor has no structure even in his own state.
Tell Tinubu, if he wants to eat frog, he should go for the fatest one.

Zulum, Buni and Yahaya of Bauchi are comfortable with Shettima, they will work for him to pull votes.

Also note that the VP must be someone who has strong credentials, no accompanying baggage with a sense of loyalty to the President. Ganduje is a good administrator, but his baggage is too much, while El-Rufai is too strong and radical.
