Interview with Madam Taiwo Ajayi Lyceet on the TVC News 3rd eye program Talking about the need for Africans to consider their tradition and culture as they accept technology and exist in a world that is fast growing into a global village.
Key notes: * Parents need to encourage their children to learn their language and even local dialects * We need to stop with the mentality that we can only be successful in Europe and American, we need to give to our society * We need to be proud of our Identity and be good Ambassadors for African culture and traditions
Teempakguy: no . . . it IS laziness. Laziness in using their brains. Laziness in creativity. Laziness in learning and education.
In foreign countries, kids teach themselves. they don't wait for some random teacher to come and tell them what is not.
In Nigeria, we swallow everything we're taught. Hook, line, sinker, even the fisherman sef.
Go to the agriculture section. Nobody comments. They are all in the romance. Talking about boobs and bottoms. While the arable land dries off . . . because we're not using it, Go to the art and graphics section. Only the actual artists are there. Everyone else shys away. This not different in the science section.
The sections that make a difference, are the most deserted. And you say they're not lazy?
I THINK NOT! SIR!
And you know that foreign kids don't need teachers...how did you reach this conclusion?
trillville: Cultural differences exist everywhere yet people still come together to ensure the development of their countries. The whole of Europe is linked economically today.
Our problem is greed and laziness. We also love to be worshipped by our peers, so we will do anything we can to bring down everybody close to us to ensure we are seen as the best.
No. Nigerians and the africans I know are not lazi. The problem is ignorance. When you don't know what to do how can you be productive? As for greed. ..blame the society. Kids in school aren't even taught what they should be taught in regards to making them competent leaders of tomorrow ..so many grow to know nothing
Here in nigeria, one nigeria makes "leaders" behave and lead senselessly thereby the country is destroyed.
nigeria failed to lead africa to greatness.
Why blame the leaders? Aren't you the one voting them in? Aren't these leaders from the society? Just goes to show you that it's the society that has the root problem not the leaders
kaboninc: There's a time stating the obvious facts will translate to grumbling and grumbling will result to frustration. Please understand that am not against us making those who pilot our affairs understand that some of their actions are not good or sound. Or that they cannot be held responsible for their actions.
But in so doing, we miss the mark, miss the idea, tarnish the goal and make a mess of ourselves. Personally, I've long decided to only see possibilities. Ideas and solutions. I'm quite aware that there are problems but I want to spend my time finding the solution. I go through a lot but I've realised that ruminating and chewing on this problem makes the problem appear so unsolvable.
Great nations were not built in a day. In fact, some of these great nations suffered same fate as we currently do. A positive will by the people, a determination to be better and zeal to make a difference are the propellants to a successful nation. When individuals who know what they want for better living do their bit, it won't take long for the people to realise that and identify with term. That way they are entrusted with leadership roles and a journey to greatness is born.
My point, make your mark and the people will desire you to lead them.
You fail to see the point. While dearpreye is trying to spot the root of the problems you want to ignore them and hope they will just go away if the human factor changes but the truth is Nigerians attitude to Nigeria is only normal....it's how humanity is ..its not until everyone starts doing charity, where you go do charity reach to build Nigeria? Making your mark. ..you think People don't try? You think people don't try to make life comfortable for members of their community? But how much can you do when the society has failed to be educated on how to build a Nation
It's the "Nigeria" that is affecting the people. Not the individuals. Kill Nigeria today and the people will have a different attitude
bokohalal: The Oba of Benin does not, and cannot, appoint any person who is already traditionally IN LINE to a stool or headship of a family. In the present case, the self proclaimed Ogiamien is a usurper and the Oba and his chiefs will not allow civil disorder in the society because of the unconstitionality of the process by which Mr.Arisco Osemwengie named himself Ogiamien. He does not even bear the name as a last name.
I see
Though independent of the Palace of the Oba,an Ogiamien is still required to 'legitimize ' the Obaship in a mock battle and treaty.
Wulfruna: I'm going to be fair to them a little and say that there are perhaps two possibilities:
One - maybe the half-Portuguese prince who became Olu back then was a powerful figure, who used his connections with Portugal and some other European powers to go against tradition and force the kingmakers to crown him.
Two - maybe the rule against the children of non-Bini, non-Itsekiri women ascending the throne is a recent creation (perhaps originating from the time the Itsekiri were having feuds with their immediate neighbours, the Urhobo and the Ijaw), and so wasn't in place during the time of Olu Domingo.
Either way, I think it's a ridiculous tradition and should be gotten rid of.
Fulaman198: It's an utter waste of time. I'd rather do something more productive like learning another Nigerian language to make myself MORE Nigerian. Walahi, I wish I could speak every Nigerian language besides just Fulfulde, Hausa, some Tamasheq and some Zarma.
You've done well already. Or you just want to learn a southern Nigerian language?
I guess members of the royal family( the Prince Tsola Emiko especially) don't even know their history a chief states something contrary to the history and known tradition and they just accept? I don't think so
Fulaman198: I'd much rather learn another African language or improve in another African language like Zarma or Yoruba than to learn another offset of English, no offence
Kids learn those stuff from American television everyday
Jaymaestro: They did fight in the comics and it was pretty even . However, i think Toph is the finest and most creative, while, Bumi is the craziest and prolly the strongest earth bender . I prefer Toph, tho .
Yeah sure everyone loves Toph but an open field battle between them will see King Bumi come out victorious after a tough fight or as it was in the comic - even
I just realized(from avatar wiki) They battled each other in the series once. ..and it was declared a draw ... I don't remember that fight scene tho
Well what do you expect? All black nations hate to look to themselves. . Any problem you run to China, USA, EU. You live in Countries created by the whites with ethnic tension and bigotry that fuels violence, corruption, favoritism, etc You believe the history and culture of the Blackman is of backwardness, some even demonic manipulations You force down foreign culture, language and religion on your kids at the detriment of the local stuff and you think they will grow up to care about africa? Why wont people hate locally made stuff and rather opt for imported? Why would anyone choose to dedicate his life to inventing anything in africa when others won't give it a chance since white folks are there to chop our money
Africans hate anything African so it's not a surprise that africa in a mess
sportsmaster: My post does not refute the fact that Sango exists or not.
I stand in a greater authority far far above where Sango is.
Read with brains.
You don't even get it. But then, what's the point keeping up with you when you are just a joker trying to speak about what he has no idea of U only came to be silly with ur initial post and you still remain silly with this one
ayo4dworld: I so loved this description you used 'dumb god, dumb followers.'
It is only God that can deliver them from demonic manipulations.
Confused set of Individuals! We are awaiting your Salvation as soon as possible.
Shalom!
Oh demons now manipulate us. Last time I checked it's ur likes that battle demons what's happening? Why are the demons winning? Since ur fictitious deity sent the equally fictitious satan away why has he had the upper hand over ur god? Why has ur god not ended the demonic threats if he isn't worthless and irrelevant without villains
ayo4dworld: Is it that you have reading defect or what! Read carefully, I have never called the supreme God, Satan. Now listen carefully may be this is what you wanna hear. Any god (be it African god, sango, obatala, satan or what have you) aside from the Almighty God, Jehovah (mention His names as many as possible) is an idol
Let that sink into your brain right now!!!
God will deliver YOU!!!
You are really dumb. ..a real confused fella like the smelling skunk father of the dead jew
Earlier you refered to Sango as satan now its an idol...next you'll say demon confused black man wasting his life's essence serving an abomination of fiction imported to africa like a bottle of gin by the same people who used their lies(deity) to deceive, oppress and extort you
But I have news for you ; African Deities are not fiction or idols. ..if you want idol see the dead jew hanged on a piece of Roman wood
Cerebrum: I see no New Testament scripture drawn out in your article, OP. Not a single point drawn out from the New Testament. Does the Bible you hold end in the old Testament, so bad that you can't rightly divide that word of Truth?
I see y'all in the age of Aquarius. But y'all aren't being rational in your so called reasoning. You should add some rationalism, it would do y'all some good and give you some peace as well. Would in fact give y'all concrete basis for your Age of Reasoning points.
Selah!
you speak like the old testament is an abomination to ur god Why is it in ur bible if you don't read it?
Simple answer is that Jesus was a common man living in 1st century Israel. He had no contacts with black people
Goes to flaw the christian claim to divinity. ..If he couldn't even contact the whole human race why should we believe he is interested in the whole human race? He himself said he came for only the jews (his people)
ayo4dworld: And what does your sango/satan needs to stay relevant, goats/stones/wood. Wake up from your insanity as soon as possible
May God deliver you completely from Satan and demons in Jesus Name...
I earnestly await your Salvation
Look at this bastard slave calling African God his satan. Ur satan is one thing. ..which is just another insane fictitious character like Jehova. Sango is a different thing
And all of malvisguy212's comments were words from an already debunked book. So you cannot make out a sentence without quoting from established cun men
You might be right but in all sincerity The God idea from islam and christianity have polluted the world enough for atheism to be fully justified whether by negros or caucasians.
Now run along, give your sango his dinner and lay him to sleep... the pattern is just right, dumb god, dumb followers. I wonder how sango feels about taking the second place in his supposed land...oh, i forgot, he is so powerful and domineering in Africa and beyond
hahahhaha ndi ara!
And how does this makes sense to you? Not one sentence of reason
ayo4dworld: It pains me a lot that as intelligent as you are, you are a fool of the highest order...No offence that's what the bible as termed people like you. How dare you insult God by comparing him to that useless thing that can't hear despite its ears, that can't speak despite its mouth, or see despite its eyes
I'm awaiting your Salvation as soon as possible!!!
May God save you from demonic manipulations in Jesus Name.
