plaindealer: You don't care about the tribe, but your thoughts, your reasonings and posts are always tribe related, from tribal insults to bigoted comments and derogatory references.
You have nothing to offer Nigerian beyond your usual repulsive and disgusting tribal rants and bigoted rubbish.
Your kind comes a dime a dozen on NL. LOL. Reminding a people of history is not an insult, though it hurts. History is important. Remind me of history, factual history, and I would agree with you. I understand that you are attempting to derail what is an important discussion on leadership competency. Were Buhari to be competent, I would carry placards for him. But, like you've unknowingly admitted, he is incompetent. Pointing this out or even referring to the names he called Osinbajo is not "tribal rant". I understand the desire to hold on to what is mainstream and populist, but that is an irrelevant and easily-seen diversionary tactic. Thankfully, everyone here can see through it. "Tribal bigot", yet I was one of the very first persons that called Oby Ezekwesili's appearance at WEF a shameful one. There are processes and there is competence. I strictly follow this. Bigots like you never seem to accept that the narrow spectrum of "tribe" and "religion" does not appeal to everyone. You have not even tackled Adeshina's known competence, which is what I and many others are pinning our admiration on. I love competency and competent people. Clearly, you do not, but that is your problem, not mine. And it should not be Nigeria's problem. Deal with it. |

plaindealer: Funny when these odious tribal bigots clamor for a Yoruba man to become the president of Nigeria based on shallow and infantile reasonings while tribally insulting and bastardizing the name of the VP, another Yoruba man.
You can not look and see your fellow Nigerians as tribal enemies or relate to them in bigoted and tribal terms while at the same time clamor for a better Nigeria.
People like you careless about Nigeria because you are too knee-deep in enmity, tribalism, and bigotry to peacefully coexist with other Nigerians without looking at them as the other, without calling them names or throwing tribal insults.
Very sad. I do not really care about the "tribe" of a man. I once wrote here that I wish Nigerians all had British names. Perhaps, it will help tribalists like you to focus on the real issues at hand. And yes, I referred to "Osunbade" because my dear President once called him that. It is very funny to me. Did you call out Buhari when he called Osinbanjo, Osunbade? Let me guess.... You didn't. You are the likes, APC and Buharist BMC's. Or you are a Tinubu BOT, worried that another, incidentally Yoruba man, is looking like the darling of a generality of Nigerians. Not your selfish demigod, Tinubu. You lots hate Nigeria to the point of eternal hatred as long as the crumbs that fall into your plate does not get taken away. |

gidgiddy: Why? Because he takes good pictures with world leaders?
How is it justifiable that another Yoruba man will be president of Nigeria when the SE, NC and NE have not produced the president of Nigeria since democracy returned in 1999?
That's the question I am not Yoruba. Very far from it. But if Adeshina comes on board, I will support him and write articles in important news media to support him. From the state Nigeria is, it is high time we get serious and relegate the "he is not my tribe" as second priority. Buhari and Tinubu and Osunbade has taken Nigeria to the economic and security cliff-edge and saddled Nigeria with a financial debt that, as it stands now, will be paid by up to the next 4 or 5 generations. Nigeria is in a pathetic state right now. I am more frightened that this is only the "first year" of the "second term" of Buhari. Buhari is not just a terribly and predictably failed experiment but one which is an existential threat to Nigeria as a nation-state in all HDI ramifications. The APC apologists and Buharists can decieve themselves if they want. Or they can, for the love of country, face up to the truth as millions of Nigerians have done. It is only a globally well-connected and intelligent intellectual and nationalist that can resuce Nigeria now. Adeshina fits that bill perfectly. I think Nigerians need to get serious for once. You think Nigeria is not on the road to Somalia? Think again. It is. Unless y'all get serious. |
Politics › Re: Excitement As Beneficiaries Of Enugu Govt’s Scholarship To India Thank Ugwuanyi by madridsta007(m): 10:49pm On Sep 06, 2019 |
Tabithatim: Post secondary school students of Enugu State, who are beneficiaries of the scholarship offered by the administration of Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi to study in Mewar University, India, on Friday, paid a thank-you visit to the governor at the Government House, Enugu, ahead of their departure. 1 The elated students, numbering 22, who were accompanied by the Permanent Secretary, State Ministry of Education, Mrs. Nwanneka Onah, and other officials of the Ministry, said they were overwhelmed by Gov. Ugwuanyi’s benevolence, love, care and kindness in making their dreams come true.
It would be recalled that Gov. Ugwuanyi’s administration had offered four-year scholarships to 680 indigent students of the state studying engineering programmes in Enugu State Polytechnic Iwollo, Ezeagu Local Government Area and the Institute of Management and Technology (IMT), Enugu.
Speaking on behalf of the new beneficiaries, Clara Nnaji, an ex-student of Anglican Girls Grammar School, Awkunanaw, Enugu South Local Government Area, thanked Gov. Ugwuanyi for putting smiles on their faces and that of their parents, adding that they have found a father in the governor.
Nnaji disclosed that the governor has “succeeded in shaking off shackles of all forms of poverty in our families”, stressing that “a good number of us never had the hope of leaving this country for studies”.
According to her, “even though I had it in my heart, I never ever imagined that I will actualize this dream in the next ten years. But in a space of two months, Your Excellency, you made it possible and I want to on behalf of other beneficiaries, across our dear Enugu State, say a very big thank you for putting smiles and hope on the faces of our parents”.
Offering prayers for Gov. Ugwuanyi while presenting a gift to him, Nnaji said: “We know that there is nothing on earth that we are coming to give you at this point that can be equated to your love and kindness, but we will say a very big thank you and pray that on this seat as Governor, Your Excellency, our God will shower blessings on you; the Lord will protect and preserve your life”.
Earlier in her introductory remark, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Education, Mrs. Onah, stated that the scholarship was the offshoot of the visit of the Pro-Chancellor of Mewar University, India, to the governor in May 2019, “requesting for collaboration with the Enugu State Government to send some students on scholarship at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels”.
Mrs. Onah disclosed that Gov. Ugwuanyi, consequently “gave an approval for 22 Enugu State youths to be given scholarships to study in the university”.
She added that the governor also approved funds for the processing of their travelling logistics, pointing out that their school fees have already been paid.
“Any moment from now, Your Excellency, they will be departing for India, and we deemed it necessary that they come and see you. These students never imagined that one day they will be sent outside the country to study. You have done a lot for them and they are here to say thank you”, Mrs. Onah said.
Chief Mike Ugwu of the education ministry, on behalf of the state government, prayed for God’s protection and success of the students, while the governor committed their mission into the hands of God and congratulated them. Enugu State is truly in the hands of God. #amokelouis

How will you allow your Passport and travel documents to expire in another man's land without doing anything about it. Sometimes it's difficult to defend our people...
When FG said no Nigerian died people were shouting and saying Lai Mohammed, what do you expect FG to do when Nigerian citizens are not properly documented. As far as the FG is concerned if a Nigerian nationals with no documentation died = No one died ..
Someone with no documentation can claim any country....
Made me remember one controversial video I watched about china harvesting people's organ ..
They arrest people with no documentation and harvest their organ making it difficult for people to locate them. Only God knows how many of our Citizens have died abroad
Lalasticlala Possibly millions of British citizens do not have passports or up-to-date passports. I know this for a fact. You ask them and they say, "why do I need a passport when I am not travelling? It is a waste of money". And I understand their argument. How many Nigerians in Nigeria actually have a Nigerian passport? LOL. Now you see my point. This is not new. Diasporan citizens are more interested in the documentation of their host country and not their country of origin. Most times, they travel to Nigeria on a Nigerian visa but with the passport of the host country. This is not strange. Before you insult them, understand a bit about international travel and migration. |

Angelfrost: I assent to most of your valid points.... But, where do we go from here? Who bells the cat? What foundational steps must be taken to address these mitigating issues where confab failed?.... Issues sir, issues... Your questions are quite broad hence I tried to limit my treatise to Shaggi and, perhaps, the impact of celebrities in a nation's polity. They seem not to know how powerful their voices are, especially in this current social media age. They spoke and already CNN, BBC and a host of other international media houses are amplifying their voices and forcing the SA government to act. And this influence of celebrities in social media in defining national and foriegn policy is not new; in the world's most powerful country, it is the hosts in Fox News, CNN, MSNBC, etc that largely influences Trump's decision. And Obama too. Trump reportedly decided not to attack Iran when he listed to Tucker Carlson on Fox News. Now, what if these Nigerian celebrities, collectively, decided to focus on the tribal nature of Nigeria's politics and decision-making and its leadership deficit? Call out Nigerians foolish preference of tribalism over meritocracy? Bluntly, wholeheartedly and consistently? This is why I do not see Shaggi's message as anything new or impactful. It misses, perhaps intentionally, the root cause. They have a leading and important role and are not doing it. |

He has not done anything different from what others have done- that is mentioning the problems and issues in Nigeria. That is easy to do. But worthless. It is like chasing a fruit and leaving the root to grow- it will always grow and produce more fruits when you are not looking. What is brave, which many Nigerians are scared of doing, is to directly confront the "root cause"- which is tribalism and the deference to ethnic affliations in leadership selection, in decision-making, in everything. Largely. South Africans have taken the display of xenophobia to Nigerians because they read and see news on social media and know that Nigeria has a prevalent leadership problem. They know that it is not an OBJ that is there -someone who understands foriegn policy- but someone who is probably unaware of what is happening. Hence incompetence. An incompetent leadership. Else South Africa would not have allowed this violence to go on. They know Abba Kyari and Buhari will do nothing. Come on, they have High Commissions and Embassies in Nigeria. These are Intel Centres. You think they do not know the leadership vacuum in Nigeria? Or the root cause? But hey, we know this but seemingly appear to be afraid of mentioning this root cause. Validated: Buhari and APC are the cause of Nigeria s ulta poverty status. All this story means nothingness other than begging the issue. Truth is that Buhari, Osinbajo and Malami caused this. GEJ already intervened and struck a $850 million settlement. All Buhari was expected to do was pay. Rather because he trusts noone, he chose the court action. Now it has backfired. In legal parlance there is what is called plea bargaining. When you realise that you do not have a good case, you opt for plea bargaining, e.g plead guilty for lesser sentencing, rather than allow full trial that may result in heavy penalty. FG under GEJ took this option, but our "oversabi" APC leadrrs, thought otherwise. Now they are looking for who to blame. I have read some funny comments like, "sieze British and Irish assets". With our fledgling economy, you want to try nonesence agsinst the Brentwood and IMF connection? Your dream must be very BIG! Can Nigeria withstand two weeks sanctions on our oil? Even now, we are merely a surviving economy. My suggestion is that APC should swallow their pride. Go on their knees to P$ID and beg. The Bible, in Luke 12 verses 58 & 59 says "When you go with your adversary to the magistrate, make every effort along the way to settle with him, lest he drag you to the judge, the judge deliver you to the officer, and the officer throw you into prison.I tell you, you shall not depart from there till you have paid the very last mite.” The FG has alowed Nigeria to be dragged to the court and now every Nigerian is at risk. I cannot just imagine the disastrous impact this would have on our economy. If this had happened in a country like Japan, all those who contributed to this disaster would be honoured with suicide. But here we are with Malsmi, Osinbajo, Buhari and even EFCC looking for who to blame for their disastrous outing. If this had happened in a country like Japan, all those who contributed to this disaster would be honoured with suicide. Jokes aside, yours is the most sensible comment on this thing. To think this amount is asides the billions which APC and Buhari have taken out as loan from various institutions and countries. Nigeria's future generation will be saddled with so much debt just because the South Western and Northern section of the country hated a man they saw as a minority. Goodness me. Seizing Irish and British assets? Hahahahahahahah! Buhari, Tinubu, Abba Kyari and the rest of them are drunk with codeine. Try and nationalise their assets. What is happening in Venezuela will be a child's play. |
Travel › Re: Trump Immigration Policy Will Reduce Number Of Nigerians In Strategic Profession by madridsta007(m): 8:35pm On Sep 01, 2019 |
PureFace1: Trump’s immigration policy’ll reduce number of Nigerians in strategic professional positions — NDM The Nigerian Diaspora Movement (NDM) in the U.S. says President Donald Trump’s new immigration policy will, over time, reduce the number of Nigerians in strategic professional positions in that country.
Chairman of the movement Prof. Apollos Nwauwa made this known in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).
A policy alert released on Wednesday by the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services disclosed the Trump administration’s plan to make it more difficult for the children of some U.S. service members and U.S. government employees living abroad to automatically become U.S. citizens.
The rule appears to primarily affect the children of naturalised U.S. citizens serving in the armed forces, who have not lived in the U.S. for a required period of time, a relatively small number — estimated to be approximately 100 annually, according to a Defense Department official.
It does not impact anyone born in the U.S.
U.S. citizenship can be acquired a few ways, including being born in the country.
Children born abroad can acquire citizenship through their U.S. citizen parents either at birth or before the age of 18.
While the latest policy guidance does not make anyone ineligible for citizenship, it appears to narrow how children abroad can gain citizenship.
Trump has occasionally voiced his support for ending birthright citizenship and said last week that he was “seriously” considering ending it, though it is unclear how he would have the legal authority to do so.
This is because an Executive Order alone is not enough to make him have his way. Only a constitutional amendment can make the president have his way where ending birthright citizenship is concerned.
Acting USCIS Director Ken Cuccinelli said on Twitter that the new policy “does NOT impact birthright citizenship.”
Still, the policy, which takes effect on Oct. 29, sparked confusion among military and diplomatic groups who immediately denounced the alert.
The groups became concerned that the rule change would place hurdles before children of federal employees and military workers serving abroad.
According to Nwauwa, Nigerians in the U.S. are of significant value to the U.S, given that they constitute a large part of the human resource base of that country.
”There is hardly any American agency or parastatal that has no Nigerian working in its upper echelons.
“Since only citizens are permitted to work in sensitive and lucrative positions, over time, this policy will reduce the number of Nigerians in strategic professional positions in the U.S., ” he said.
He further said that the policy of restrictive citizenship would reduce the huge amount of remittances made by Nigerians living in the U.S. to the country’s revenue sources.
“Unquestionably, the long-term goal of the Trump administration is to reduce to the barest minimum the number of immigrants in his country.
“The policy will only briefly affect Nigerians visiting the U.S. to have babies.
”It will also have implications for American servicemen, business people, members of the diplomatic corps as well as others, who live outside the U.S. with their families.
“Nigerians who also have U.S. citizenship will be affected the most because their children born in their country of birth after they had become U.S. citizens by naturalisation, will not be granted citizenship.
“Trump’s administration is determined to change the U.S. immigration landscape once and for all,” he said.

I know all the paid marketing platforms has been heating up considerably over the past few weeks, pushing out different spectacular theories on how 5G is going to change the way we work, live, and copulate.(Again, at least one of those items is my own nonsensical creation, but I’d argue that all of them are equally absurd.)
I’ll tell you this, you can safely ignore all these regardless of who or what is saying anything about it. So as an ardent lover of tech. I strongly advise you observe from a distance with a hot cup of cappuccino and box of chocolates for now without investing an ounce of your own money or mobile tech energy in the effort.
Let’s get to the reasons
5G Technology Is A Short Range Network Spectrum And Very Limited https://i1.wp.com/www.naijatechguy.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/09/19xnfm.jpg
If you remember clearly 4G only started functioning in Nigeria around 2015-2016 when it was available in other parts of the world for years. It was like a dream come true before it dawned on us that we have one of the slowest 4G speeds in the world. Globacom even had to put their bandwidth on one that isn’t available on most devices to make sure their 4G doesn’t slow down as much as their 2G masked as 3G.
No matter how much our network providers might hype it, 5G is going to be extraordinarily limited in real-world application in Nigeria right now in 2019 unless it’s limitations are actually fixed before launch in Nigeria
Unlike 4G that signals can be received from over 30 miles, 5G cannot go more than a mile and if you’re in a building it’s very likely the speeds would drop drastically. For 5G to work in Nigeria their needs to be multiple network towers and the only logical way to have that is to fix them on electricity poles just like Verizon is doing in the United States but this is Nigeria, there’s an adept lack of maintenance culture.
I can’t count the number of things that could go horribly wrong here if those towers are mounted on electric poles, be my guest and help out with a list.

Also the nature of these new 5G towers is raising fresh concerns over cancer risks, We don’t have a functional health care system here. So until there’s assurance from network providers and it is verified that it’s safe for use, those towers shouldn’t be mounted 3m close to anybody’s house
5G Network is Horribly Expensive
You know how data finishes extremely quickly on 4G especially on MTN, on 5G you can finish your data bundle within 30 seconds, ignoring all the limitations.

Network providers are willing to do anything to make more money, who wouldn’t anyway… 5G technology just happens to be a perfect way to charge customers more money something I know won’t go down well with many Nigerians.
The phones that support 5G don’t come cheap either. Samsung’s 5G S10 variant costs almost $1000. Keeping 5G services a premium service that’s not going to be available for everyone unless we end up getting affordable phones from brands like Xiaomi that support 5G.
Possible Lack Of Cross Carrier Compatibility
I’m talking about this with information based on countries that already have 5G being tested. Now unlike 3G or 4G that have bands supported by a wide range of smartphones. 5G isn’t going to give us that luxury. We know our network providers go mad once in a while and we can easily switch to another SIM easily but 5G might just make us change that. Carriers in the United States are adopting their own personal 5G standards and I believe other networks in the world might do the same.
Unless there’s a certain 5G standard each network provider here would use. You would end up stuck with a device that supports only one network’s 5G band.
https://www.naijatechguy.com/2019/09/nigeria-isnt-ready-for-5g-technology.html LOL. Can you look at Buhari and look at the word 5G and its implication, and say Nigeria is ready for 4G let alone 5G? |

khia: Àwww! poor you. Why can't you take the day off if you're working from home, what kind of work do you do? . I am an academic. Tenured. You live here so you’ll understand. Students have just returned so my 20% teaching has began. 80% is strictly research. Working from home today because I had conference meetings all day and needed some privacy. |
