MelesZenawi: Obasanjo Visits President Ramaphosa Of South Africa.
Nigeria’s former president, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo has paid a courtesy visit to South Africa’s president Cyril Ramaphosa.
He presented the latest book he co-authored titled “Democracy Works: Rewiring Politics to Africa’s Advantage”, to the South African leader.
President Ramaphosa thanked the former President for working hard and still having the energy to write and contribute to current debates about the development of Africa.
The two leaders also used the opportunity to reflect on recent events in South Africa which saw more than four hundred Nigerians voluntarily evacuated from the country.
A statement by the presidential spokeswoman Khusela Diko says former President Obasanjo expressed his sincere appreciation of President Ramaphosa’s recent appointment of a team of Special Envoys who have in the past few days visited a number of fellow African states to deliver a message from the President regarding the incidents of violence against mostly foreign nationals.

MYDEBBY: Dear Nairalanders, I greet you all.
Pls I need candid advice, I have dated my wife for over six years without an issue and now that we have done traditional rites and about to climax with white wedding she is giving flimsy excuses that she is no longer interested in me.
She is currently in final year and has drastically changed in her dressing and attitude towards due to influence of friends in school.
Often I do report incidences of her recent poor dressing to her parents after cautioning her she will channel the grievances to me.
The recent one made her so angry that she started recanting all my past mistakes which she and her family are aware of and have resolved since now using it as an excuse against me that she is no longer interested.
She kept mute for over two weeks due to anger yet I still transferred money twice to her but up till now she did not acknowledged it, only for her to send text that she need money for our daughters school fees. I then decide to visit them off campus where they stay yesterday with lots of provision yet she could not say a common thank you.
While I was still making peace with her asking her to forgive me for whatever wrong I have done to her by reporting her to her PARENTS, promising not to do so again, a guy knocked the door and she went out after the guy I asked a relation who was there who was the guy and he said he is my wife's friend, I quickly followed them on citing me the guy diverted after their discussion about me.
When we then entered the house I asked her who was the guy and she said that's not my business. I kept quiet.
After a while I called her parents to tell them the situation of things that their daughter said she is no longer interested they now asked us to come down to the village to see them this coming weekend.
I know things are not alright somewhere and as such I need straight forward advice on what to do.
Pls no insult just help out.
Thanks You should be lucky. She has shown you that she’s not interested in you NOR the marriage. Your daughter being involved makes little sense to her, obviously. Abort. Code: Red Abort. I’m Mr Logic over Emotions. Better kill whatever emotions you have for her and let go off her. Marriage to that sort of woman normally spells ruin for any man. Don’t say you were not warned. |

Is that what Sowore should be seeking forgiveness for?... A lot of Nigerians truly need divine help! I think it’s been ceaselessly showed that he churned out lies against GEJ. Maybe that’s why people are calling out for forgiveness, but that’s not the point. We are on the same page here, I think. Sowore has NOT asked for any sort of forgiveness from anyone. And, to my knowledge, has not asked anyone to solicit for one on his behalf. Thus the issue of forgiveness is completely null and void. I’m not sure why people keep bringing it up. |

LifestyleTonite: Former minister of aviation Femi Fani-Kayode, FFK, has given reason why detained Omoyele Sowore needs to be forgiven by supporters of ex-president Goodluck Jonathan.
Sowore is currently detained by the Department for State Security, DSS, and also charged for treasonable felony.
His predicament has been mocked by supporters of Jonathan who recall how he supported the current administration against the then Jonathan-led administration in 2015.
However, FFK is of the opinion that Sowore deserves to be forgiven for whatever he may have said against Jonathan.
Given reason, he said if the likes of Bukola Saraki, Aminu Tambuwal, Atiku Abubakar, Rabiu Kwankwaso could be forgiven today, despite all they said against Jonathan, then Sowore deserves the same treatment.
"Those that mock @YeleSowore for his predicament just because he villified @GEJonathan in 2015 are being petty and naive. Is there anything he said in 2015 that @bukolasaraki, @atiku, @KwankwasoRM, @AWTambuwal and others did not say?If we can forgive them we must forgive him too”.
https://wotzup.ng/why-sowore-deserves-to-be-forgiven-by-goodluck-jonathan-supporters-ffk/
C I think most people misunderstand the concept of forgiveness. FFK included. Those names FFK called, from Kwankwaso to Atiku used their PDP campaign platform in 2018 campaigns to PERSONALLY ask for forgiveness from GEJ and Nigerians. GEJ of course forgave and Nigerians, quick to forgive anything forgave and seemingly moved on. Hence no one is picketting Atiku, for example. Sowore on the other hand, has NOT asked for forgiveness from anyone. Why should Nigerians/GEJ supporters forgive someone who hasn't asked for it? FFK dont be silly please. |

FeedMeNews: Senior Pastor of Latter Rain Assembly, Tunde Bakare, has said that he is not granting interview on issues involving Vice President Yemi Osinbajo.
Prof. Osinbajo is said to be setting his sights on taking over from President Muhammadu Buhari in 2023.
However, the Vice-President’s relationship with Buhari is rumoured to have suffered a crack after he was accused of disregarding due process in the award of contracts for agencies under his watch.
Bakare told TheCable on Monday by telephone that he was not interested in talking publicly about the Vice President.
“I believe the government is perfectly capable of addressing the issues,” he said.
“I have not and I am not granting interviews on this current VP saga. If, however, my counsel is sought at all, I will handle that confidentially and not in public.”
The preacher also asked the public to disregard any interview he is said to have given over the matter.
Igbere TV earlier reported that Bakare, on Monday, appeared in clips showing him giving a sermon and telling his congregation that he would succeed Buhari in 2023.
Clips of the sermon which was given in February 2018 was culled up late Sunday and has been gaining attention on social media.
Bakare, in the video, said God had prepared him for the nation’s top job for more than 30 years.

addictiv: The most important blessing is that of the parents of the bride... Once they give their consent every other thing na formality. What of people who are orphans, or people who don't have family, don't they get married? Last I checked most marriages that ended in divorce or worse were blessed by both parents and the priest. For me Honoring your parents as a man means informing them of your decision to get married and carrying them along with the process. Should they declare ill feelings and misgivings it is within their right to do so. It is now left for me to proceed or rescind on my plan. As far as honoring goes they have been honoured You mention orphans- this is a different context. It is important that you do not muddle the two. The man in question is not an orphan. We do not like it, so we try to minimalise, mock or trivalise the importance of parental blessings "online", yes. I understand. However, marriage is an off-line adventure. Both parents are of equal pedestal; I am not sure why one set should be considered above the other. The man should follow his head and not his heart. The "heart is very deceitful above all things" Jer 17: 9. The head, when operating alone, speaks common sense. If his head says, "marry", by all means, proceed. If his head says, "no", then you do not, no matter how painful it is. I wish him the best. |

madridsta007: I hope you would take the pragmatic and logical decision and not the emotive decision. We can only talk and pretend about so many things. As Igbos what happens online isn't the reality off-line.
Marrying her means that you will not (1) Recieve the parental blessings that come with marriage when ones parents are alive (2) Dishonour your parents (3) An excommunication between you and your entire family (4) will lead to children whom the community will ostracise as "Osu". Marriage goes beyond the euphoria and excitement of the single day of wedding; you will still have to deal with your family, community, kinsmen, clan, etc. For all the days of your life.
Not marrying her will mean, (1) Heartbreak for both of you and, if managed properly will mean (2) both of you will STILL get married to other partners and families which are in the same religious and community ideology as your families.
This is just the simple analysis.
In the end, she gets married to someone/ a family that accepts her and in the end, you get married to someone your family accepts. You are Igbo. You should know that beyond what is romanticised online, family and family acceptance is a big, big, big thing. Unless you want to pretend to yourself. The Osu Caste system should be abolished, yes. Christopherrrr: Hello Nairalanders, greetings. My name is Christopher (pseudonym) from the Eastern part of the country, Imo State to be precise. I'm a man in his early 30's. I have an active account here but I had to sign-up for another account for this thread. Please pardon my grammatical errors and blunders. MOD please help move to FP.
Few months back, I fell in love with a pretty lady with a beautiful soul. She is 28. Though we are running a long distance relationship but the current in the communication link can power Kanji Dam. Lol!! We can be on calls for hours since the very day I met her. There is a fair share of the feelings, affections, respect and regard for each other. It's not one-sided. Though we have been opportune to be together thrice since the past 10months we met. I have had plans to go about engagement and marriage arrangements this coming festive period though I haven't made this known to her.
She gives me joy, she gives me happiness, she prays for me, she blesses me. There is a part of me she unraveled that I never believed existed. Above all, she gives me peace of mind.
Fast forward to last month, I invited her to a family event. I introduced her to my family as my girlfriend. Instantly everyone fell in love with her. My mum was allover her and she was indeed up and doing. She didn't disappoint me. Not pretence, she has a good home training.
When she left same day after the event, my mum proclaimed her love for her. She said, "Olee ebe isi choota udi nwa nke a?" (Where did you find this kinda girl from?). This made me drop a tear of joy thereafter because I've always prayed for such from her any day I introduce a lady to her. This also happens to be my first time.
Fast forward again to 2weeks later, my dad requested I confirm her community and kindred properly because we happen to come from the same LGA. I didn't even know they have started making inquiries for me even before I asked them to. I confirmed from her and informed my dad. Only for them (my parents) to break the news to me days later that we can't marry from their kindred because they are regarded as Out-Casts (Osu-Cast System). Right now, I can't contend my heartbreak. I'm so devastated and confused.
This has been a long-term tradition that has been for centuries that I don't think it's in my capabilities to do away with it or do otherwise.
My problem now is how do I break the news to her for a breakup because we can't continue like this.
I have never ceased to love her less since the very day I learnt of this. In fact, she gives me reasons to love, cherish and adore her every single day. I still do that to the brim and don't have regrets. Quote me, her type is rare. I love this girl with every breath I take. I just cry myself to sleep every night after our long calls.
Please advise a brother because I'm in a deep state of dilemma. I hope you would take the pragmatic and logical decision and not the emotive decision. We can only talk and pretend about so many things. As Igbos what happens online isn't the reality off-line. Samolaogun: So I got married to my wife 10 years ago. She was 24 at the time and now we are blessed with 2 kids. My wife has always been one of those self centred all about her looks type of person but I just ignored it and saw the good side of it. After two kids and at 34 my wife still looks very good, I guess that’s one of the perks of marrying young.
But one thing I noticed is that when she was pregnant with our first son all she ever talked about from day one was getting back in shape and losing weight, she was never excited about being a mother or bringing life into the world. Well She’s maintained her shape and when you look at her you will think she’s 25/26. I’m grateful for that however
Now the downside of this is that she gets a lot of Male attention which she entertains and I’m not comfortable with. On her instagram she’s following a lot of males which I’m not comfortable with.
I addressed it to her and she complains I’m being paranoid that they are school friends. When she goes out with her friends she’s always over dressing and looking seductive almost like a single lady looking for toasters.
She’s that over friendly type of woman, always on her phone, likes to do too much shakara and it’s just starting to irritate me. I checked her phone last week and theres one guy that keeps on addressing her as ‘love’. I’ve not addressed it to her yet because I’m waiting to catch her red handed so she will not be able to come up with any flimsy excuse.
One day when her and her friends came to my house to meet up for a birthday party, they all dressed like a bunch of ashewos. The following day we got into a huge argument because I warned her to never try that again.
She is still stubborn and she hasn’t changed. Im fed up of her attitude I’m thinking of separating from this woman before she gives me high blood pressure. She’s not a homely wife at all. All she wanna do is go out, to even attend to the kids effectively is now becoming a problem. I’m tired. You married a Slay Queen. I would stretch it further to say that you saw this in her but you still went ahead to marry her (1) Hoping she would change and (2) Enjoying the perks of her beauty. It is a very dangerous reason for marriage. Once a slay queen, always a slay queen. You would have to speak to her (which is quite difficult as with stubbornness comes pride and the unwillingness to listen to anyone) or you will have to get someone who she listens to, to speak to her. And pray, pray for her. You guys are married so as a husband, you hold a spiritual leverage over her. Same for a wife on her husband. Divorce should not be an option. It is no answer to the problem you have elucidated. |
