Celebrities / Re: Stella Damasus Set To Re-marry by mafolayomi(f): 11:40am On Dec 18, 2012
namename: Stella who was endorsed as Ambassador for African women, Singer and Nollywood actress, Stella Damasus is giving marriage a shot once again going by the engagement ring she flashed at a social event in Lagos recently.
It is no longer news that the mother of two, who recently acquired a property in Abuja is in a relationship with movie director and business partner, Daniel Ademinokan. She showed off her engagement ring at the Mode Men of the Year 2012 Awards held last weekend. When she was asked about the ring she replied, “If it looks like an engagement ring then it’s an engagement ring.

It’s a simple thing; I just refuse to talk about my private life.”
She later added,
“If it looks like it then it is. For me to boldly wear this, I know what it would cause, so I am saying, let them talk. I am wearing an engagement ring, whether it is for fashion or for real nobody knows. It is left for you to decide whether it is for real or I am wearing it for fashion”.
The delectable actress’s first wedding to Jaiye Aboderin came to an end after the demise of the latter. Stella was also alleged to have dated other men even before marrying Nzeribe, but the marriage lasted for only six month.

samtoye: Nigerians and impracticable solutions! If you gonna be sincere with yourself, 30,000 Naira is not enough for you to survive not to talk of feeding an extra mouth and bringing a child into the world! When would you wake up to reality? Is it compulsory to marry? It is people like you that create problems for others by turning yourself to begging nuisance after they are faced with hunger! I am not sorry for you and your pitiable wife to be, it is the child you would bring into the world to suffer i am sorry for! Use your 30k to buy yourself more common sense so that you would stop making decisions like this, same decision you must have made that landed you with a 30k job! Haba! Culture / Re: Is It Common For An Igbo Man To Marry A Woman Who Is Not Igbo by mafolayomi(f): 11:03am On Oct 09, 2012
Ujujoan: @ Poster!

Igbos are very tribalistic. Every Igbo man/woman secretly wants to marry from the east. Some fall in love with people from other tribes and races and they still go ahead to marry them. That is not very common. In my whole family, both from my mother and father's side, nobody has ever married a non-igbo. That's how serious it can get.

Of cost people are moving past that now but if he's close to his family, then they will most likely advice him not to marry you!

you ar very correct o, and its nt just d igbos, even yorubas, i am d only one that married a non yoruba, and even outside Abk our town, they all married from Abeokuta, even those that leaves outside Abeokuta still went ahead and married from Abk, so, dis really made it very difficult for me, but thank God i married who i love and not to saticfy anybody

Cuddlemii: Which zaki are we referring to here? Is it that musician that uses torch light to sing?
Ha, I used to respect him as a devoted Muslim. I saw him as conservative & cool headed.

Na wa oh, hypocrisy is the middle name for most Nigerians.
Can pple now see y it's not good to criticize Charly boy for being erratic & crazy, his he not more straight forward than these men that have innocent/meek faces?
All that glitters is not gold!
Embrace imperfection/reality in a man and you won't be sorry.
Women should stop chasing shadows, there is nothing like a perfect man, just look for a man that you can vouch for & that is real enough to show you what you are getting yourself into from the on set.

Zaki is a xtian, he attends fountain of life church

@youngsoye. Hello. I'm afraid I'm not familiar with the yoruba word 'ifo' however I'm assuming by T.V you mean Tinea Vesicolor? Please could you clarify this in order for me to give you a more accurate response. You can also describe the look of the spots on your face. Ok? Cheers.
@curiousdude.There isn't any particular drug or herb that will make a person 'fat'. Rather most of them work by increasing the appetite which in turn may lead to weight gain. Alfalfa,Fenugreek and even Bitters are a few examples. Another important point however is to gain weight in a healthy way that is by eating nutritious and balanced meals. Cheers.

@lepasharon. Thank you. Yes indeed natural products are one of God's numerous gifts to us.

Food / Re: Name Any Nigerian Dish And The Tribe It's Associated With by mafolayomi(f): 12:50pm On Sep 20, 2012
Ola one: Just to correct Freecocoa and others, Moin Moin is a YORUBA dish. It's neither universal nor general. It's 100% Yoruba.

Moin Moin is the 'Lagos' spelling. It is actually spelt Moyin Moyin - a Yoruba word that means 'a delicacy that sticks to your teeth.'

That's it!

and it can as well be refers to as Oole where am from (Abeokuta)

bashr8: i know you are ignorant about nigeria , when did yorubas know what moi moi is , does that even sound yoruba, thief, because igbo food are mainstreet naija food does not mean u should claim them, as for pounded yam anybody can claim that one , its nni ji in igbo land maybe u can tell us what its called in yorubaland angry

monimoin is what yorubas refers to as oole, and they mostly make theirs with red oil and not groundnut/vegetable oil that we are use to this days
Food / Re: People's Attitude Towards 'Pap' by mafolayomi(f): 12:18pm On Sep 20, 2012
oko-oloyun:
Pap popularly known as ogi or eko in Yoruba language or akamu in Igbo language is very nutritious and not difficult to prepare. There are two types of pap i know, the maize pap(yellow or white) and the millet pap(ogi baba).

Pap is usually taken with moi moi, akara, beans, fried plantain, efo riro. You can also add milk or sugar to the pap to make it taste great, some even serve their pap with bread, groundnut, noodles etc.
Intake of pap provides instant enegy. It is high in simple sugars, high in simple protein and rich in vitamins, inspite of the nutritional benefits of pap, some people sees it as a no go area when it comes to staple foods, some belief that pap is for growing infants and people recovering from illness that cannot take solid foods. If you serve some people pap they will take amadioha or sango swear for your life while it will lighthen up some people faces if you offer them.

For me i love taking hot pap before breakfast almost everyday and sometimes at night after dinner because its makes me feeling full and satisfied and it must be the maize type coz i hate the millet type of pap (ogi baba) with passion and i can take it with anything exept bread and groundnut which a friend of cannot do without.

My questions now are:
1 - Do you take pap?
2 - why do you take or hate pap?
3 - How often do you take pap in a day or week?
4 - If you do take pap what do you like serving it with?

guess you are from oyo state... my sis inlaw "bro's wife" is from oyo/ibadan, she cant eat her meal without pap by d side, me am nt a big fan of pap though, but married to a man that likes it
Family / Re: Birth Asphyxia by mafolayomi(f): 4:59pm On Sep 18, 2012
Sisi_Kill: While I don't encourage living in denial, I also don't support actively looking for things that aren't there. Your son is FINE and from what you have stated here. . . he seems to be doing more than fine sef (Sitting without support. . . do you know the average age for that kind of skill is like 7-9months). So why not focus on that instead of looking for signs of illness?

Anyway from what I understand about Birth Asphyxia. . .the child is at his most vulnerable in the first 72 hours of their birth and the odds of long term effects are greatly reduced if therapy is administered within the first 5-6hrs after birth. Long term effects (Which is often based on the severity of the asphyxia) have been stated to be mostly neurological (caused by the lack of oxygen to the brain). . .mild to severe learning disability, palsy, behavioral problems etc.

Honestly,I really don't encourage this. . .Please focus on what your son is able to do and stop letting the fear of what might ruin the joy of what is. Just make sure he doesn't miss his regular checkup and try to do some exercises to help him with his development, especially his fine motor skills. As he grows older, you incorporate the other stuff.

Good Luck!!

thanks dear, just that it was very scary when we were told in the hospital..., i was nt myself throughout our stay in d hospital and even after, but i thank God 2day that he is gradually removing that fear. thanks to you all that have responded to this thread.

Jokes Etc / Re: Why Do Comedians Yab Pastors/church But They Never Try Same With Imams/islam? by mafolayomi(f): 11:38am On Sep 11, 2012
soulfood: It became trendy with AY's constant teasing of Pst Okotie of Household of God with the Latter present at some of such shows and conceding to it by laughing and allowing it to pass.

Stand up comedians have turned Pastors to their punchline going as far as naming the particular pastor at times. These comedians tease the church and its beliefs like tithing, offering, healing, deliverance yet bible believing Christians are the first to buy their tickets when the show is coming up.

However, i have observed they never misyarn or say anything negative about Islam. Is it because they feel Christians operate the law of life where mercy and grace abounds but the Muslim counterparts are more responsive to any sort of perceived blasphemy against their religion?

Are they afraid of having some fanatic muslim group hear such jokes? Someone should please explain why our comedians are more afraid of men that can take life here but cannot destroy the soul? Yet they are obviously willing to take the risk with the one who can destroy the life here and beyond.

i thik its because most of the comedian are xtians themselves, and they understands how it is in xtianity, islam is not their religion, dey do not understand it, hw can you talk about what u do not understand? or maybe fear of boko haramas also
