President Buhari has received assurances from the Joint Venture Partners assigned to construct the 3050 Megawatts Mambilla Hydro-electric Power Plant, that all processes leading to the start of work would soon be completed to pave way for the commencement of the project early next year.
At a meeting on Thursday in Beijing with Professor Lyu Ze Xiang, the President of CGCC, the construction company, President Buhari asked to be briefed on time lines for the commencement of work, following his highly successful meeting with the Chinese leader, Xi Jinping.
The Nigerian President, who likened the Mambilla to China’s Three Gorges Dam, said given the significance of the project to Nigeria’s socio-economic development, there was a need for its speedy completion.
“I am very pleased with the concern you have shown for the significance of this project,” he told the head of the construction giant, adding, “I would like you to ensure its speedy completion.”
Xiang informed President Buhari that Nigerian officials and the project consultant would meet in two weeks to address the questions raised by President Xi for more detailed and updated feasibility and sustainability studies. He said a team had already been set up to work on the financing aspect.
“We fully understand the importance of this project to the economic and social wellbeing of Nigeria. In two weeks, we will sit down with the parties for the economic and sustainability analysis. It would take about four weeks to conclude the update,” he assured.
According to the lead contractor, “pre-commencement work,” would thereafter begin, dealing with access to site and putting in place the necessary support infrastructure such as power, water and transportation. “Our target is to commence the project early next year, ” he told President Buhari shortly before the Nigerian leader’s departure at the conclusion of his six-day official trip to China.

A woman popularly known as Iya Ibadan who caught her husband in bed with another woman, has taken her own life by drinking Sniper.


A woman identified as Kafilat Oriade has committed suicide by drinking ‘Sniper’, a popular pesticide used in homes, after allegedly catching her husband with another woman on their matrimonial bed.


According to eyewitness, the incident occurred on Wednesday evening at Ashafa Street, Isuti Road, Egan-Igando, a Lagos suburb.
It was gathered that the deceased, popularly known as Iya Ibadan, caught her husband, Ismaila Oriade, when she visited him after they had separated for a while due to some family feuds bordering on marital unfaithfulness.


A witness said the deceased had taken the pesticide on two separate occasions in the past but survived after a prompt intervention by the neighbours.
This time around, it was gathered that the deceased took a much larger quantity of the liquid and became unconscious. She was rushed to the nearby Crest Hospital where she was reportedly rejected by the management.


She was then taken to Vintage Hospital along same Isuti Road where she was given some injections to ease potency of the poison.
According to Motunrayo Ajenifuja, a cousin to the deceased’s husband, “Vintage stopped attending to her when the doctor discovered that Iya Ibadan had first attempted murder through hanging herself.


“The doctor saw marks round her neck as evidence of attempting killing herself. We took her home after many pleas with the doctor who refused treating her.”
Attempts to speak with the doctor at Vintage hospital were unsuccessful as he said he was not permitted to speak with the press but admitted attending to the deceased.


When our reporter visited the house of the deceased, it was learnt that her husband had deserted the apartment on hearing about the death of his wife.
When contacted through his mobile number, he said they had long separated prior to her death then ended the conversation.


The first son of deceased, Jamiu Korede, said they wanted to get doctor’s report before transporting the corpse to her home town in Ibadan.

A News agency recently took a trip to Gwoza, a community in Borno State to speak with children who witnessed the brutality of the dreaded Boko Haram firsthand, and compiled a report.



The field is wide and scorching under dry midday heat. Dozens of children kick up the sand underneath their sandals.
Their shrieks echo as they roll their heads back in carefree laughter. They're playing, but not with toys or balls.


They are playing a game called "Boko Haram versus soja (soldier)".
They scamper around screaming, "shoot!" , ramming their fingers into each other's bodies. Their pointed fingertips are supposed to be the barrels of rifles or blade of swords.
They are pretending to kill each other. Some "die" , falling over like felled trees.


One child collapses with his hand pressed over his heart as imaginary blood gushes out.
A tall boy jumps over the "dead" body and runs into another with a yellow t-shirt, who aims straight for his head.


"Boom!" the boy shouts, a gunshot.
This is playtime at a private primary school organised by a local NGO called Education Must Continue Initiative (EMCI) in Yola, the capital of Adamawa state in northeastern Nigeria.


All of the children are now displaced after fleeing their home communities to escape from Boko Haram.



'I saw Boko Haram chop my grandfather's head'
These children have seen the brutality of the armed group firsthand.
"Boko Haram, I see them use knife, chop my grandfather's head," said Ibrahim Daniel, a 13-year-old boy from Gwoza in neighbouring Borno State.


Gwoza was, and is still, a notorious hideout for the fighters. Boko Haram captured the town of nearly 300,000, in August 2014, and declared it the headquarters of what it called its Islamic Caliphate.
The group's black flags were mounted around the town and underneath them, Boko Haram members executed anyone who failed to obey their rules, dumping corpses in wells and streams.


Hundreds hid in the Gwoza Hills, a set of rocky outcrops on the northeastern end of the volcanic Mandara Mountains that straddle the Nigerian-Cameroonian border.
The Nigerian army flushed Boko Haram out of Gwoza nine months later, but Daniel is still too afraid to go back.
"The Boko Haram is something that you won't like to see,"


the young teenager says in a gruff voice.
Speaking in Nigerian slang English, he continues: "I'd like to be a soldier because anything that them [Boko Haram] do, I'd like to do back to them. If me, I see them, me I go carry them. Me I kill am."
The other kids huddle around Daniel, laughing at his last remark about killing Boko Haram. Many of them want to become soldiers, too.
They have seen the fighters invade their villages and they want revenge.


"I can help government. I can help my parents with being soja," says Chinda John in the same slang, sitting beside Daniel.

On August 30th, a 27 year old man residing in DeKalb, IL was arrested for supposedly sucking the uterus out of a woman. The 26 year old woman whose name was not mentioned says that the man 27 year old Kyonne Boykin made her feel pleasures she never felt before.

After she went home she noticed that her uterus was missing and immediately called the DeKalb PD. When arresting Boykin Detective Smith of the DeKalb PD said he [Boykin] was wearing a white shirt with a tongue on it that said “I SNATCH SOULS” .

Boykin is being held at the DeKalb county jail on $100,000 bond. Detective smith said Boykin is being questioned in a few other soul snatching cases.

The Nigerian community in South Africa has again cried over the killing of two Nigerians in the country.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the latest deaths have increased the death toll of Nigerians in the former apartheid enclave to 122 in 30 months.


The latest Nigerian to have lost their lives in the crime-prone nation were identified as Mr. Okechukwu Chukwumezeriri and Mr. Olushola Ayanleye.
The President of the Nigerian Union in South Africa (NUSA), Mr Adetola Olubajo, gave the information in a statement on Friday.
Olubajo said that Chukwumezeriri, 39, from Imo was shot dead on a football field on August 25 at Rietondale Park in Pretoria.


He said that Ayanleye, 42, from Ondo State was also shot dead in the night of August 26 at Esselen Street, Sunnyside in Pretoria.
“Information gathered revealed that last weekend’s violence which claimed two lives with another two hospitalised in Pretoria were gang-related killings.


“As the umbrella organisation of Nigerians in South Africa, our stand is that whoever that kills should face the full wrath of the law, irrespective of his or her nationality.”
“We advise that whoever has information about these killers should kindly contact the president of NUSA or the police as these senseless and trigger-happy fellows should not go unpunished.”


“We are always firm in our belief and resolution that all criminals should be treated the same, irrespective of nationality.
“Nigerians killing Nigerians should not be viewed as different from Nigerians being killed by other nationalities.
“Government officials should also take seriously these senseless killings of Nigerians in South Africa by not building or promoting narratives that it is okay for Nigerians to kill themselves.”

An aggrieved Nigerian Ifeoma N Chukwuogo has narrated her ordeal at the INEC Centre where she had gone to collect her permanent voter’s card.


According to Chukwuogo, she had waited for 4.5 hours to be attended to when billionaire daughter of Femi Otedola, DJ Cuppy walked in and jumped the queue.

RE this Cuppy thing..truth is, highly privileged people are rarely concerned with life outside their bubble.


Y/day I stood for 4.5 hrs trying to get my PVC, got there at 7, left at 11.30.

Cuppy strolled in at 10.30 with her entourage and mopol, walked past all of us on the queue and went straight into the thumbprint and registration room. I was standing right outside the door just about to go in when this happened. Now, many of us were VERY frustrated at the whole registration affair.


A man beside me just about to go in had been there since 4am or so. Of course, folks were muttering under their breaths about the unfairness. She’s not a diplomat/politician, she’s just wealthy. If you don’t want to join us like cattle standing for hrs getting harassed by officials, arrange for a private registration at a location of your choice. There’s nothing wrong with that. Companies and residential estate arrange for INEC officials to come register their staff/residents for convenience sake. But I’m guessing there was the PR aspect of it too because her handlers photographed it. No crime in that. She’s an influencer.


What made me realize how tone-deaf she might be was how despite the obvious frustration from people’s facial expressions, and me actually loudly telling an INEC official in her presence that it was unfair to do that at our expense as we all have places to be as well is that she was smiling and chuckling through it all. I was looking straight at her as I was saying these things, not even in a combative manner, more in a “she/you guys should be doing better, leading by example” type stuff.


It was interesting (and annoying) to watch.
They got her sorted and she left.
I don’t expect this sort of person to be aware of stuff outside of their bubble, that’s why I’m not surprised about this interview brouhaha
She’s not a terrible person, I actually enjoy her public personality on occasion.


But Cuppy is tone-deaf.
Honestly, for those in my mentions trying to justify this sort of thing, you’ll be ignored and if you persist, you’ll be blocked swiftly.

A man has been left devastated after finding out that his girlfriend whom he has spent so much money on is pregnant for her 'cousin brother'.



A Nigerian man has taken to social media to narrate his sad experience in the hands of his girlfriend who got pregnant for her ‘cousin brother’.


The man alleged that during their relationship, he provided the girl with all she needed even going to the extent of giving out his school fees to settle her problem only for her to throw a bombshell at him.


However, he didn't know that the person she told him was his 'cousin brother' was actually her lover and all the money he has been giving to her was being channeled to the alleged 'cousin brother'.
Things ended in a bad way after the girlfriend revealed that she is now pregnant for the 'cousin brother'.

Protest rocked an area in Akure, the Ondo State capital after Civil Defence officers kill two siblings.


It all started when a motorcyclist, whose name is still unknown, was said to have been knocked down by an official of the corps on Tuesday, along Ondo road in the state capital which resulted in the death of the commercial motorcyclist.


The Civil Defence official, who was said to be driving an official vehicle, knocked down the motorcyclist and his two passengers, with the passengers rushed to the State Specialist Hospital, Akure, and said to be in critical conditions.


However, on Wednesday, commercial motorcyclists in the state protested the killing of their colleague as they took the body of the deceased to the office of the NSCDC adjacent the Government House, Alagbaka, Akure.
According to eyewitnesses, the protest later turned awry as a trigger-happy officer of the corps shot into the protesters and killed the elder sister of the unnamed deceased, who was also part of the protest.


A source with the corps confirmed that one of their men had accidentally knocked down a motorcyclist on his way to write his promotion exam and the protesters had come to attacked them.


“One of our men was on his way to write his promotion examination when the Okara rider dangerously overtook the officer’s vehicle and in the process knocked him down which resulted in his death before he was rushed to the hospital.


“I understand that the other two passengers are still in the hospital.
“This morning, they came to our office with the corpse of the Okada rider to attack us. Immediately they got to the junction of our office, they started hauling stones at us, but we had to shoot in the air to keep them from advancing in our office.”

President Muhammadu Buhari will be meeting with caucus members of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Reports has it that the president will host members of the APC caucus at the State House on Tuesday, August 28, evening.



It was also said that the president who often holds the meeting a night before the National Executive Council (NEC) meeting of the APC is forced to hold this one because he would be receiving the British Prime minister, Theresa May on Wednesday, August 29.

Sources within the State House said the preisdnet is exepcetd to have a busy week as he would be receiving May and the German chancellor, Angela Markel.

A source said the president would receive May, “on Wednesday afternoon, attend APC NEC on Thursday and then receive German Chancellor, Angela Markel, on Friday in the morning.”

These meeting will precede the NEC meeting expected to hold on Thursday, August 30.

A source within the APC said the NEC meeting will hold at the party’s National Secretariat of the party in Abuja by 10 a.m. on Thursday.

This will be the first NEC meeting the defection of the Senate President Bukola Saraki and some other members of the APC to the opposition party.

The source said the main agenda for the meeting will be centered around the party’s preparations for its primary elections scheduled to hold in September.

During the meeting, the NEC will also be expected to adopt or amend dates for the party’s primaries and the forthcoming 2019 elections.

A fatal road accident has claimed the lives of three people along the ever busy Abuja-Lokojo Highway.

At least three persons were burnt to death in a ghastly motor accident that occurred along Abuja-Lokojo Highway on Thursday.
A House of Representatives aspirant for Etsako Federal Constituency, Edo State, Dr. Blessing Agbomhere, praised God after narrowly escaping the incident.


It was reported that that three persons were burnt to death with their vehicles while five others sustained severe injuries in the accident.
Narrating his ordeal, the former deputy-director of Buhari Support Organizations (BSO), Dr. Blessing Agbomhere, said the accident was caused by the dilapidated road coupled with the reckless driving of a Scania Truck and Mack Tanker, both trying to overtake each other.


“I am so grateful to God almighty for sparing my life after my vehicle somersaulted thrice. By just viewing the pictures to see the badly damaged Land Cruiser Jeep alone, you will agree with me that God did wonders.
“I was on holiday to my hometown to celebrate Salah with my people, while returning back to Abuja, this happened”.


Dr. Agbomhere, appealed to family, friends and teeming supporters to remain calm as he is presently responding to treatment in an undisclosed hospital.

Tanzanian singer, Diamond Platnumz has advised married men who have a side chick to always use condoms to avoid having a side kid.
The singer made comment in an interview with 247HH, where he spoke about impregnating his side chick, Hamisa Mobetto , while he was in a committed relationship with Ugandan socialite, Zari Hassan, who shares two children with him.

He went on to disclose how he recovered from the social media drama that almost ruined his career, when his side chick, Hamisa, who now has a son for him posted a video of both of them in bed during a social media clash with his girlfriend, Zari.

Few days after a video emerged of one Stanley beating a friend of his girlfriend for allegedly slandering him, the victim has gotten jungle justice, thanks to her elder sister.

Stanley had told his girlfriend, Anita, that he has a white collar job, however, Anita’s friend, Boma, put a lie to the claim by telling her that Stanley is a yahoo boy. .

Yinka Ayefele, whose N800 million Music House was demolished on Sunday, has revealed that Oyo Governor gave his wife $1,000 and assured her that he will not demolish the building.


While speaking during a press conference at his demolished N800m Music House which housed his radio station, Fresh FM, on Monday evening in Oyo state, popular Juju musician, Yinka Ayefele, made some shocking revelations.


According to City People, during the conference, the singer shed tears and told journalists how his wife was with the Oyo State Governor till 3:00 am early on Sunday morning before bulldozers were brought few hours after to demolish the building.
Ayefele said he would have been there as well, but was on his sick bed. Reading his press statement titled “Governor Ajimobi and the Sunday breakfast disaster”,
while slightly weeping, he said;

“I am sad that all I laboured for almost twenty years had been pulled down.
“Let me also bring to your notice that my wife was with the governor till around 3.00 a.m on Saturday. She was able to meet the governor and he assured her that the building will not be demolished and as an assurance, when she was leaving, the governor gave her $1,000”.
Ayefele revealed further that, “I am so sad that all my sweat had been pulled down. I am handicapped, and I work round the clock to ensure that I did not beg.

"My vision was to put in place an edifice that will house radio and television stations. I paid beyond normal charges to get the approval for the building. I was shocked when they said I don’t have necessary papers.
