OP, He shouldn't have to be the only one who calls, you should call him too, send texts like someone already advised and talk to him on how you feel about his calling attitude, see how it goes before deciding.

I must say though, that from experience, guys who often behave like that have different girls who occupy their minds hence they rotate the attention. Yours might be an exception though.
