It is not with his clear eyes that GEJ is throwing this NC at us, it most probably has a political undertone. But I don't expect anyone from Southern Nigeria to kick it aside simply because it is not same as a SNC. Definitely the SNC will be more impactful, but a smart person should be able to see the oppurtunities that are hidden in an oppurtunity. Even if we don't achieve anything from the NC, I bet u the issues that will be negociated will open the eyes of our younger generation so that they will know where we are coming from. I bet you right now, a Sultan or Emir somewhere would have taught his 7yrs old son that Nigeria is their property, but we southerners let's ask ourselves how many of our teenagers even know that they are still being led as slaves 53yrs after a supposed independence was pronounced. And do you think if every soul in the South understands the nitty gritty of resource control, that the North will still be going to sleep comfortably? |
talktimi: its actually quite easy just that our political class try so hard to show us how inept they are. This is across board and includes the self acclaimed "progressives". Definitely there has to be a reduction or merger of states in Nigeria as the only 3 viable states we have are Lagos, Rivers & Kano. These are actually the only states that can survive without federal allocation. Our blessed curse is just that oil money is just so easy and faster to get in billions of dollars meanwhile even without resource control, the fed govt can just issue out mining licenses to multinational corporations for our solid minerals of which we are richly blessed while just chilling out on royalties, its just so easy, im really scared but wondering why no one has thought about or implemented such a revenue generator of geometric proportions...No my brother, don't talk like that. Even if Lagos, Rivers and Kano are the only viable states( which is not actually correct), no state within the confinements of this federation is handicap. Even if there are no natural resources, what about human resource. Most nations of 1st world countries don't have oil to sell, but they have technology to sell. Some countries are raking billions of dollars from common entertainment. It is totally wrong to say a group of people cannot survive without being spoon fed by another. |
TeaParty: Everywhere in the world….villages, towns, hamlets, cities, people groups are asking for autonomy to enable them take charge of their affairs and develop at their own pace. For instance Bosnia Herzegovina has a population of less than 4million but today they are a country of people governing themselves and making progress in various areas of human endeavor. On point my brother. That is why we have to educate the younger and naive generation because if there should be a revolution in this country it should be one that seek to settle the ills of Arewa kingship of Nigeria since 1960 via their fraudish majority in the national assembly. That is just why a bill for regional resource control will never see the light of day. Their dominance is the no. 1 corruption, and not until this is solved we should revolt. The best way to solve the problem is a gentleman talk via a SNC, but they will never agree so we may finally have to draw swords. Let Yoruba, Igbo and Niger Delta see that GEJ is not actually Nigeria's problem, but Arewa lordship; they have been the colonial masters since independence. Watch it, core north will fight this NC move, but thank God middle belt now knows better. This is why I disagree with Tinubu's opinion; SNC or NC, which ever, let's just get started with the slightest oppurtunity. Any politican that talks of election now before the renegociation table is a fraud. |
Sule Lamido just confirmed once again how trickish politicians can be. So in his opinion legislators (who are mostly selfish politicians and alot of whom have questionable integrity) are in the best position to negociate our future? No. The way I see it, elected politicians both in the legislative and executive arms should be far from that conference. Even political party chieftains should be minimized as much as possible if they must be part of it. To answer Lamido's question, Jega does not need to conduct election for the delegates of such a conference. We have kings, Obas, Emirs, Igwes, Ovies Obongs and all kinds of royal fathers in Nigeria. They are elder statesmen and almost all of them had their fathers, or grandfathers deal directly with the bristish lords around the late 18th and early 19th century. They have their royal integrity to protect and the pains of their kingdom at heart. We also have some tested and proven patriots and if they are called on for such important service they will oblige. Eg folks from south south will be happy to see people like Justice Oputa,Pat Utomi as some of the persons to represent them; likewise, easterner won't frown if patriot like Alex Ekweme,Dora Akunliyi represent them. I mean the masses know the right people to represent them, and it will be an avenue to catch Jonathan red handed should the wrong one be seen at such a conference. We don't want shallow minded, selfish and money oriented elected politicians around the conference. We know how they were all rigged into their elected offices. That they are there in the national assembly as elected those not mean they are our heart's desire. On a normal day someone, say, like Pat Utomi may not be able to win elections in this country because he might not want to go the unholy miles a regular Nigerian politician would. That is why we should call for their services and not that of folks like Lamido and his cohorts. Besides, Jigawa State need not be 'officially' represented, all that is needed is for proven patriots from Jigawa to be called upon and I bet you they will rise up to the occasion because they are the ones who have this country at heart, not the elected officers. |
Tinubu has the right to question the timing of SNC, and good to know he thinks it is a necessity though, plus acknowledging that it has to be thorough when it is conducted. But I believe that at the level at which we are divided right now, any president sitting at the helm this moment won't be out of place in proposing it NOW. The obvious fact now is that the possibility of an elections are threatened by bitterness and anger of almost all stakeholders, and one begins to imagine the possibility of individual groups stockpiling weapons in secret. I mean, if I was blindfolded at the inception of a business partnership for as long as a hundred years and suddenly my sight was restored to discover that I have been cheated all along in the business, of course I wouldn't want to carry on with the business until issues are made straight. Asking that the election comes first is like saying lets do one more deal before we reset the partnership agreement. Boko Haram suddenly came up recently and said all of 'NIGERIA' must be islamize. Well Lugard, Clifford and co did not mention that in 1914. Plus, the entire structure is so messed up NOW more than ever. If it falls apart will there a Nigeria to conduct an election in 2015? Talking about 15 months being too short, I don't think we will be starting from ground zero, I think it's aimed at fixing the structure. Left to me alone, I believe every stakeholder has what it takes to make a great nation and should all go their separate ways if it comes to the worst. However there are also advantages to remaining one -combine military might and general economic synergy, bla bla bla. But this can only be possible if the centre is made unattractive and just a ceremonial figurehead. I believe we should have sovereign regional governments and only stand together for international purposes. There are just too many things to talk about a this time of the nations history and this is so not the time to play politics. Tinubu spoke his mind and I respect him for that, and I too have a mind of my own. You too my country man, you have a mind of your own. If you are an educated man or woman, this is the time to stand for the uneducated and gullible in your community and clan. We cannot afford to be sympatizers of politicians at such crucial times because these people are trickish and selfish, just like the colonial masters. They started making a mess of us right from Oct 1, 1960. Kaduna Nzogwu was not a fool, it was the way the politicians were running the system that gave them the impetus to do what they did. Please do not replace your mind with that of anyone else; use yours, think independently for yourself and let your decision be fully your own, not Jonathan's, not Tinubu's |
Mr OP, I was angry with CAN when I saw your headline, only to read and see that their spokesperson was speaking facts. Are his arguements false, ain't the governors suppose to be working along with the feds? Can an outsider successfully help put out the fire in your bedroom without support from you? Even if not financial, logistics support. Is it not true that we hear the governors argue more about 2015 than they assist to fight the insurgency? So what are your arguements, why not table it on the forum let's support or argue with you together. Why the insults. And by the way, the person in the interview is not Oritsejafor yet you insult him. There are so many people I don't like in govt. but I don't resolve to insults. One advantage of civilization is the ability it gives to argue issues objectively without bringing in sentiments, and a man's education is worth nothing if he cannot control his language in public. Government is so comfortable because they take the masses as ignorant. Why? Because it doesn't see them make reasonable and objective arguements and confrontation but rather settle for cheap insults. There is freedom of speech in this country but not to the extent of insulting individuals. Let's make this forum mature. By the way, the students and folks being blown up are members of their churches(if not all, some), so it is CAN's duty to speak. |
No no no no! I disagree with their penultimate point. Why should the oneness of Nigeria not be debatable? Well, If I say all our military artillery and weaponry bundled up in the north should be equally shared among the 6 geopolitical zones and the northern regions agree, then 'One Nigeria' won't be debatable. If I say every region should have equal slots for recruitment into the Nigerian Millitary and the northern regions agree, then we will live happily ever after. If I say every region should be endowed with the power to productively control the natural resources beneath their own soil and, of course, pay a token of reverence to the centre authority in the name of tax, and everyone says okay, then very good we will be one Nigeria. But you don't say nay to all these crucial issues and much more and then you still want to impose one Nigeria on me. Hell No! Didn't the queen your benefator tell you that one day the children of the folks you were oppressing will become wise and know their rights. I dey Laugh. |
please vet doctors in Nigeria you are very important but please alway do a thorough job everyday. Sent competent and trusted/ God fearing inspectors to our abatoirs nation wide. If police collect bribe it may not lead to direct death, but if you people collect bribe from butchers it will definitely lead to death. Also from this development, you should not restrict your supervision to abattoirs only. God bless vet docs, please we need u people now more than ever now before eat poison |
I really salaute u papa. A civilized way of tackling the issue. Wow the level of literacy in Nigeria is really increasing. |
Gbawe: I hope, for the sake of the President, this is not true. If it is, then his opponents everywhere will be ready to highlight his hypocrisy and characteristic desperation to actualise a 2015 win to the extent he now cynically turns towards hijacking something he had denied Nigerians the opportunity of exploring in the past as a veritable tool of negotiating a way forward.Dear president GEJ if you or your men by any means read the comments on this forum, please I ask that you do not mind the commentor I just quoted above and the number of persons that may have liked his comment. He has exercised his freedom of speech but does not represent my opinion as well as the opinion of millions of other Nigerians. So if really you are considering convening the SNC pls do as quickly as you can because I and my community have alot to assert before other stakeholders of project Nigeria on what we think our lot should be if this project must remain and as such, the baseless sentiments of the above commentor should in no way hinder that. Besides, now that God may have touched your heart to make the call (which I don't care to know the secret agenda behind why you may be calling for it) who knows when next we might have the opportunity to have it convened if we miss it now. May God not allow the personal issues and personal hatred of a few persons prevail on the good that should come to all Nigerians. Amen! |
Excellent way to go people! This is what I have be expecting us to do. See the genius in the kid instead of the evil. Not every kid got guts to PRACTICE. When I saw that boy I saw a kid who had the liver to go to the moon without giving it a second thought. This kind of thinking is what makes the white man seem superior. Well done De Rauf, way to go! |
ohaleoghene: While you are wrong ! Let me enlighten you , and only hope you learn from this . Movies world are fantasy world , totally different from the real world . My lecturer who took me on drama , said and I quote ' in art we do not find reality ,when we do , it is no longer art ' poster , what caught our fancy in movies are the fact that this things do not , and if they do happen arre very rare , and we do only hear about them , and then we say , oh , just like in the movies . Haven't u notice how people who find it hard to believe a certain story say , I am sure you saw that in a movie , that sure can't happen ! So your analysis my dear is crap ! Think of it , won't you find movies boring of it gives us exactly real life situations ? If that is how movies work , while ,.I rather wait till such happens to someone around me , and save the ticket money for a meal .You my friend should knw and appreciate when people are being hilarious. Or are trying to tell us that you dont realize that the op is just being funny and was indeed very good at it? There was no need to call his nice piece crap. @op great work and style of presentation. |
lol. Reminds me of my college days. Lived in a 4 storey building off campus. It was war coordinating lodge mates to come out for triweekly clean up. Yet after a handful gets the job done, u see someone dropping pure water sachet frm 3rd floor and a lady dropping off pad frm her toilet window. A guy on 1st floor was once showered with urine by an unknown mate from 4th floor. Lol, funny Africans we are. |
I lived in Enugu for sometimes -about when Sulivan was newly elected. Looking back now I can see it all adding up, and d answer is simple; he's got some 'share' in this Kia thing. It seem to be d states official car. I tot my friend was lucky to be a councillor when d governor bought all of them kia brand, but then, it seem to be his style cos LG chairmen, trad rulers drive thes exotic cars. Hmmm, I see other governors following suit jst like wen they purchased taxi cars in hundreds, now its police cars. Very sure they get good cuts 4 their pocket. But wat can I say, even though we put the cart before d horse in our mode of opertion in this country, i stil tink our police have a little rep at least. Nigeria will get there, jst a matter of time. |
All so true, I mean every single point. And after I had planned to deal with my parents when I grow up and mak dem regret because I felt they wher unfair to me, now I just can't seem to a way to tnk and repay dem enough. Guess d best I can do is to prove them heroes by passing on dis African asset to my kids. We dont knw wat awesome culture we hav here until we travel out of dis country |
Nigerians it will be healthy for us to learn frm d very 1st experience than allow ourselves or rather our hearts to be broken evry time. I was one of those who supported and voted for Jonathan, but with d turnout of events I have learnt not to make too much noise any more about a supposed 'angel' dat I dont knw. Now, for those of you are die-hard supporter of Amaechi I hope u all wont seem like fools when he begins to perform below expectation (that is if he bcoms vp or,say, president). My point is simple, in Nigeria it is not advisable to champion d course of ANY politician. Rather lets adore then when they most have performed well and LEFT power honourably, eg, Nelson Mandela. Lets jst sit back and allow Amaechi fights his battle, else we develop hrt attack on acct of his headache. By d way, d last time I checked, River State isnt is nowhere near Dubai or any other developd places we can tink of. Cheers |
Dangote must have put many factors into consideration before choosing Ondo State. I believe security is largely one of those factor. It wil save alot of cost to have it in d niger delta wher d crude is gotten frm, however d niger delta 'boyz' will make sure they suck him dry wit wat is called 'deve' ie development charges u must pay to them 4 bringing a blessing to their community, plus they wont giv him peace for as long as his refinery is on nigerdelta soil. |
Good Nigerians, if we must be taken seriously by d rest of d world then we must fully exploit all mass media options available. Nigerians in diaspora must let d british embassy in respective nations take d message home; back home d press shld sound d alarm, tv stations shld organize talk shows on their network and then evryone else can contribute their quota using wpchoice eletronic medium. I see real arguement on dis platform, but NL alone wont do. |
in as much as I have my reservations on d above prophet, Mr Seun I presume u are a gentle man. My advise to u is dat misleading headline is one sure way to lose credibility. Ur site is gradually become a joke. Dont allow ur mods to use misleading headlines cos it tends to give d notion dat u are desperate for traffic. I trust u'll take caution. |
please it is easy to bring bloggers like Linda to their knee, if we all simply boycot her blog for as simple as one week, thereby bringing her traffic to a halt, she will become a nobody within the snap of a finger. Peeps lets do this.l |
I tink al d signs d op mentioned are not necessarily pointers that one is a lone lover in dis game of two cos all his points, on d contrary, are actually a demonstration of how true love is played out. The issue, therefore is with d partner. So when u see all of these signs wh d op pointed out in u, it doesn't mean u are 'stupidly in love', rather it means ur partner is simply not intrested in u or d rshp. I tink Joan Johnson -whose romance writeups I hav been studying carefully- wld share d same opinion with me |
[quote author=babaowo]when this people were called drunking fisherman? ppl were crying..... where on earth government keep settting commitee on rumour monger? out of alots of job to be done in the state? well blame goes to OBJ ...... [/quote my dear, I recently discovered that I was becoming much confident that in less than 10yrs from now Nigeria is bound to rob shoulders with the western world in terms of development. I feel this way because with the level of insults Jonathan and his fellow Nigerdeltans have recieved especially from the Yorubas and Hausas (eg, Tinubu & u my friend refering to Jonathan as drunken fisherman), the next president, should he be a Yoruba -say Fashola for instance- MUST TURN NIGERIA INTO THE LAND OF OUR DREAMS & must by no means fail. Because all the insults so far only means that they can deliver by all means, else all their insults will fall back on them; the drunken fisherman may be changed to the hopeless hunter (for instance). Well this is just a afood for thought -if u leave in a glass house throwing stones is not adviseable. |
sweetrita: One thing that confuses is that, members of the church will contribute to build a school for the church. but at the end of the day, the children of the Elders and deaconesses of the church can not afford to go to the school. Because the fees are very very expensive. can some body explain to me why it is so.Yes, I wil tel u why it is so. because d teachers wil b payed, and researches will b carried out, plus d sch/university facilities wil maintained. And of course if u live in Nigeria u ll understand dt these tins all cost huge amt of money esp wen u wish to run a sch wit internatnally acceptd standards. Now d problem wit folks who tink lik u is dt u are too sentimental on issues lik dis and dt makes u not to use ur brain to reason out thes simple facts dt i hv laid out before u. And dt is wen we say a person has been brainwashed by d opinions and tot of those around them. Happy now? |
jas_o: What i mean is that there is level of curruption to be measure by regions. So my take is dt u are frm d North or SW. Let tell u dt u are a silly idiot. So u were not in d country wen Abacha and OBJ did exactly dis abi. And now GEJ is and his SS/SE are nw more corrupt and as such wont taste power again abi? U are a silly yoruba idiot I suppose. FYI, d level of enlightenment in d SS and SE has increased and much sooner than u can imagin, we will break d country so dt u yorubas wil b on ur own and rule urselves ok? Stupid arrogant idiots of a tribe |
phreakabit: So I was having this nostalgic discussion with my brother about the 80's when we were kids and I actually remembered asking him whatever happened to Nestle Nescao? Anyways, we ended up compiling a list of products that we think are no longer in the market.Might have forgotten some so feel free to add. . . Please make sure they are old products. And then I remember magazines like IKEBE SUPER |
BankoleNco: What of Robin blue? that one qualify? I remember say the advert na oldies oh. . . Them dey show am B4 behind the clouds. . . hahahawow! Robin blue. Friendy, u've jst triggered back old memories. Old's really cool |
modicum: On issues like this, I want to thread softly not to be seen to judge nor condemn an anointed. For no one will pass judgement on the anointed and will be guiltless before God. Having said that however, my admonition goes to the men of God. Most of them started well and God lifted them. But what we now see is the danger of fullness. The deceitfulness of riches is derailing most of them. How many jets did they use at the beginning of their Ministry. Yet they saw the raw hands of God and their churches exploded with people who yearned for the truth. If a Pastor could even afford a jet in this impoverished economy, shouldn't the love for the people be enough restraint. Would Jesus do this if he were to be in Nigeria today? Among the hungered, a person drinking common Garri may be lynched for being sumptuous. This is what these men of God should think about. Also, I want to submit that only a very negligible percentage of wealthy men in this present Nigeria will be able to righteously acquire a jet, without a shady underground. Aside the acquisition cost of about N10b, the parking at the port is about N20,000.00 per day, Pilot's salary, maintenance is done daily, not like a car you service 3 monthly, landing tax in foreign countries is exorbitant even for commercial aircraft etc. All these associated cost of maintenance is over a million Naira monthly. So would an hungry man among the congregation not be tempted to pass judgement on the man of God? Paul the Apostle said if my eating meat will make my fellow brother to stumble, I will rather not eat meat. The men of God are making us to stumble by forcing the hungry populace to pass unhealthy comments. I will not. But let everything be done decently and in order. |
PAGAN 9JA:pagan do not wory as u have asked my Jesus wil visit u face to face and afta dat we all chriatians on dis forum wil be very interested to here about the encounter from u, bt believ it or not u can neva comprehened the measure of love he has 4 u, like 4ever. |
Friend, not until one gets a distinct picture of both concepts it might be hard to answer d question correctly. I think love is expressd by a willingness to sacrifice & lust is an expression of a strong selfish desire, that is love is d wilingnes to giv unconditionaly while lust is d desire to take while remaining unwilling to giv or share urs. So d there's no way lust can lead to lov cos both are on opposit side of d measurin yardstick. As regards to male-female relationship(which i think is d poster's case study),it wil rather b better to ask if a platonic likenes can lead to love and my answer wil b YES OF COURSE. Bt for lust, d guy jst want to hav sex wit d girl or d girl jst want his cash. Guess we're all learning; wld love to read d educative tots of others bout dis thread. Thanks |
Dear nairalanders one way I kw people can continue hurting themselves is to make hate speeches abt others. Be it Ibb, obj, oyedepo bakare, el rufai etc; if we think they have erred then we should, without hard feelings or insults, say wat they shld hav done and chances are dt 1 or 2 persons might learn with society becoming d better for it. But, trust me it's the hater who ends up shortening his life span cos d ppl u speak against dont read wat u write bout dem;it is their loyalist read u and then retaliate by firing back at u with insult. Good Africans, let's try hard to improve on our civilization, cos we can do better. God bless |
DonHummer: Wats up wit al dis suicide ....see wetin too nmuch american movies de causeHonestly @donhummer, u're just on point. It's d effect of too mch american movie, cos no mata wat a true nigerian mentality wil neva contemplate suicide. I think we, as society, mst raise our voice to discourage dis foriegn mentality |
