manie:CAP Plc, is selling for about N40 yet they can pay N2 dividend. But a Dangote cement selling for N 125 managed to pay N2.25k and we do not have the details of the result, i hope the company will not dip into reserve in order to pay the dividend, may be it will be through bank loan. Unfortunately since the company makes up 25% of the value of quotes companies on the exchange, it will succeed in dragging down the All share index and Market capitalization. |
UACN Property development company declares a dividend of 55kobo, while the parent company declares a dividend of N1.10k. Another subsidiary of UACN, that is CAP Plc declares a dividend of N2.00 and a bonus of 1 for 1. |
Dangote cement declares a dividend of N2.25k. But we dont have the audited account so that one can analyse the result. A dividend of N2.25k is too small for a stock selling for about N125. I see this stock going down to between N60 and N70. |
Dis Guy:I doubt if any thing sweet or good can come out of Dangote cement. The share price will definitely nose dive whenever the audited result is announced. The stock is over priced. |
OANDO declares a dividend of N3, and a bonus of 1 for 4. |
atilla:GTB declared dividend of 75k and bonus of 1 for 4, while zenith declared dividend of 85k, access bank declared 30k dividend. |
Sun of god:The ceasefire is rather too late. |
spyder880:Abi na you be C. Kenneths, you are not active again on stockmarketnigeria.com. Me took no dey contribute again, i just dey pick the brain and ideas of the gurus in the house. |
Am Alone:If you are in the market long enough i.e. 10 years and above you will know that the stock market is not doing badly. Land and investment in good companies have different roles they perform in our personal finance and attainment of our financial independence. I am in both stocks and real estate. You only need to invest with knowledge and information. I am actually increasing my portfolio on a regular basis, but not with borrowed fund. |
spyder880:I also trade stocks, what is your user name on stockmarketnigeria.com? |
chuddy111:Say what, N2.3 million. Will build an average 3 bed room bungalow up to 60% completion. |
Market is down today, it is down by about 0.7%. I hope this will continue till next week, so that one can take position in around second week of february. |
The market is up beat, for the past five days. Those who were bold to taken position in december 2010, must have made decent profit. All the same i think investors should be careful, especially with the rescued banks. Some of them will be bought by the major banks, and the share exchange ratio will not favour shareholders in the rescued banks. Just heard a rumour from my broker that Stanbic IBTC, will buy Oceanic bank. If that is true, i guess this will enable IBTC to play prominent role in retail banking segment. Just sold the oceanic bank shares i bought in November, something told to hold on. But in this market one should not be too greedy, l cant see the fundamentals that is driving the prices of some of the stocks and now almost every stock is on bid. |
Where is the new office of Intercontinental registrars, i learnt they have moved from Kingsway building in Marina Lagos, to some where on the Mainland. Wema registrars just moved from Marina to Oba Akran in Ikeja. Why are they living the island for the mainland. |
jamace:Na wa for this list, Imagine BGL and Afrinvest on the list. One of my brokers is also on the list, that is UBA stockbrokers. UBA stock brokers have a lot of margin debt, i hope the parent company that is UBA will bail them out. That is why it always better to have more than one brokers. |
Gakin95:I beg what is the name of the company that placed the vacancy. |
Congratulations to them. Considering the location of the school and the distractions the students are exposed to, I know it is not easy to come out with a first class from UNILAG, and most of the first generation federal universities. About 1.5% of the graduating students made first class. |
afrobaby:The wife is working and she is now the sole bread winner of the family. I learnt she was the one that told her father to employ him. May be when his father-in law starts paying the school fees of his 3 kids he will come to his senses. |
As long as he does his work like he should he has nothing to be ashamed of working there. Its not any easy ride this is work. Is he dat his wife is footing the bills?
In fact his Father-in law, is still trying to help him get another job. He decided to employ him, when he could not secure another place for him. My friend believes that if the Old man really want to help his son in law, he should loan him money to start a business. Since my friend has never run a business of his before, there is a high probability that the business may not succeed. |
A friend of mine lost his job in one of the troubled banks last year. The wife who is also a banker is now the bread winner of the house, for almost one year now. The father in-law of my friend is a big time trader, business man and investor. He is a major importer of building materials, has 4 three star hotels, he owns 12 filling stations and 5 shopping complex in Lagos. The holding company of his business is in Ikeja. The father in-law helped him to secure his banking job in 2004, when my friend wanted to marry his daughter. We both worked as teachers in the same school between 2003 and 2004. The father in-law now decided to give him a management job in his holding company, with a pay that is 15% higher than what he last earned in the bank. As a typical Ekiti Man, he has refused to take the job since November last year. He was giving his father-in law one excuse or the other. The man has now given him a deadline to resume by February 2011, or else he would give the job to an Indian who he would pay a lesser salary. I told him to pick the job, and from there he should start his own plan, or start looking for another job. My friend believes he would get , but it appears the job are not coming. What will you advice this guy to do? Should he pick the job or not. |
I think it is easier getting a wife in Lagos than getting a house. |
ibelab:We are talking about a house, which is an investment. The house will appreciate and the rental income should also grow by about 10% per annum. If it not in millions of naira, should it be in thousands of naira? Even cars that will depreciate in value are in millions of naira. |
gfhotee:i dont have the exact figure here, but the total charges is about 2.5% of the value of shares bought or sold. This charge includes the broker commission of 1%, Value added tax, stamp duty etc. |
gfhotee:You must have a stock broker, before a CSCS account can be opened for you. |
medjai:It depends on where you shop, some of the people that worked for us came from Ibadan, Ilesha and cotonou to work in Lagos. We found out that where some of the artisans from Lagos charged N300,000 for a job, the bricklayer from Ibadan charged N120,000 for the same job. I think you can build a block of four flats with between 16 and 18 million. |
My wife and i spent about to N3.4 million Naira building a three bed room Bungalow. We started in 2007 and almost completed it in 2010. Because we are both teachers we can not afford the luxury of employing a contractor, rather we are dealing with the workers directly. I guess this saved us about a million Naira. Based on this i do not think you can spend less than 30 Million building a block of 8 flats. We were able to monitor the workers because my wife and i both have experience in building project, which we did for family friends. Based on the fund available to you at this time, it will be better to build a block of four, 3 bedroom flats. Wishing you good luck in your endeavour. |
Emmyk:How can you have credit in English, considering the way you constructed your writing. |
ololo12:Do you have a stock brokerage account, if yes all you need do is to call your broker to buy First bank shares for you, provided you still have money in the account. Buying from the OP will be cumbersome, because his certificate is yet to be verified. First bank now sells for about N13. Except if he has substantial units, and he is willing to sell at a discount. They you can buy from him, and then help him with verification exercise. |
Very educative thread. What did we learn from the bear? Am sure we all learnt something between 2008 and now. Because during the bull period almost every body was a stock market analyst, can you imagine my Pastor was even advising me on what stock to buy. Do you know the stock, it was the private placement of Investment and Allied Assurance. Thank God I never bought the stock. We all lost money in the market, just that the degree of loss varied. Thank God, I never bought any private placement during the bull, and l did not go for the sale of NASCON by Dangote at N20. Anyway I think it is better to go back to the market now, not to trade or speculate but to invest. I went back about 18 months ago when the all share index went below 20000 or there about. Just doing Naira cost averaging. |
Get a stock broker, who will dematerialise your certificate. when your certificate is with CSCS, they can now sell. By the way why do you want to sell, I am actually trying to buy more before the year runs out. |
babapupa:Is this the same paddy lo, on stock market nigeria.com. The guy who was advising us to buy the over priced Dangote cement shares. |
I will not advice anybody to go for a penny stock. When the all share index of the nigerian stock exchange went down, the stocks that are badly hit were the penny stocks. By the way what is your own definition of a penny stock. I will advice you to only put money, in stocks with good fundamentals on a regular basis and see what will happen in 5 to 10 years. |
