Borrowing is a blessing to any nation as a creditworthy. pls FG go to china for more! |
The Federal Government is expected to take more loans if its plan to fund infrastructure is to be realised, says a Senior Analyst at Agusto & Co, Mr Jimi Ogbobine. Ogbobine said this on Sunday at a training for financial journalists during the Finance Correspondents Association of Nigeria (FICAN) 2018 annual workshop in Lagos. ADVERTISEMENT He said government was expected to deploy about N1.6 trillion to fund infrastructure this year. He said that the training, entitled, “Analysis of the Macroeconomic Environment’, organised by Rand Merchant Bank, was meant to deepen journalists’ knowledge of the economy and financial industry developments. ADVERTISEMENT Ogbobine said the bulk of financing for infrastructure would come from borrowing with a larger share being domestic debts. He also said funding the capital budget would require higher than planned borrowing with adverse implications for interest rates and interest costs for the economy. “The Federal Government borrowing to fund infrastructure is likely to be between N1.2 and N1.6 trillion. “The implementation is unlikely to start before the second quarter and revenue is likely to be lower than planned. “Actual funding from asset restructuring, recoveries and others may be substantially lower than the planned level of N2 trillion. “Therefore, fully funding the capital budget will mean higher than planned borrowing with adverse implications for interest rates and interest costs,” he said. He added that obligatory spending of the federal government was still more than 100 per cent of revenues, hence, there was no free cash flow for investment in infrastructure. “Every kobo of infrastructure spending is financed by debt constraints ability to fully fund budgeted amounts. “Debt as percentage of revenue is significantly higher than the median, of 200 per cent, for countries in Middle East & Africa. “Federal Government plans to partly finance 2018 capital expenditure with proceeds of asset sales,” he said https://www.dailytrust.com.ng/fg-needs-more-borrowing-to-fund-infrastructure-expert.html Lalasticlala oam4j mynd44 |

Pls tell the governors to pay salaries they are owing civil servant! only in Nigeria that a minimum wage be set and some employers pay some of thier workers below it and NLC/TRADE UNION are blind about it! |
Coalition of Labour unions under the auspices of Trade Union Congress (TUC) on Wednesday gave the Federal Government a 14-day ultimatum within which to allow the Tripartite Committee on minimum wage to conclude its work and announced new wages for Nigerian workers. At a joint press conference addressed by the unions in Lagos, led by TUC President, Bobboi Bala Kaigama, they warned that if government fails to meet the ultimatum which started on Wednesday, they may not guarantee continued industrial peace and harmony in the country. ADVERTISEMENT The demand of the unions was as a result of a statement credited to the Minister of Labour, Dr Chris Ngige, who had few days ago stated that the committee should adjourn indefinitely to enable him do further consultations with the government. Kaigama who frowned at the Minister’s statement said the pronouncement came at a time the committee was finalizing its work of arriving at a definite figure for submission to the federal government.https://www.dailytrust.com.ng/minimum-wage-trade-union-gives-fg-14-day-ultimatum-to-complete-work.html Mynd44 lalasticlala oam4j Freiburger, r231 |

A presidential aspirant under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Dr. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso has called on party stakeholders to unite in order to defeat the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2019 general elections. Addressing party supporters at the PDP secretariat in Minna, Niger state on Wednesday, the former Kano state governor urged the party stakeholders to jettison partisan sentiment and unite against common enemy. ADVERTISEMENT “All contestants and other stakeholders should unite in the general interest of our party and country,” he said, adding that it was necessary for the party to manage the outcome of its convention to avoid rancor. He also urged the party leadership to be fair to all aspirants during its forthcoming primaries by ensuring level playing field for all. ADVERTISEMENT The former governor who was silent on the issue of consensus said that whoever emerges after the primaries will get his maximum support. The presidential aspirant regretted supporting President Muhammadu Buhari during the 2015 presidential election, saying the gesture was a mistake he is not willing to make again in his political life. He said the APC-led administration has failed to address the challenges that gave birth to the formation of a mega party, adding that “this is not the change I supported.https://www.dailytrust.com.ng/we-must-unite-to-defeat-apc-kwankwaso.html Mynd44 oam4j lalasticlala |
