Fatokun, who is also the chairman of the forum, at the unveiling of the 2017 NeFF Annual Report in Lagos yesterday, said as part of efforts to ensure safety of funds in the banking industry, the steering committee of the forum would be instituting an industry customer protection plan that is targeted at reducing the volume of fraud in the system. He noted that there has been an increase in electronic fraud despite the various efforts put in place to check it. He said “it has become necessary to review and strengthen the existing rules and enact new regulations” to combat electronic fraud in the country. https://leadership.ng/2018/06/29/nigeria-records-n5-5bn-e-payment-fraud-in-3yrs-cbn/ Lalasticlala mynd44 oam4j |

The Presidency on Thursday slammed the People's Democratic Party for declaring a seven-day mourning over the recent killings in Plateau State, saying the opposition party was playing cheap and infantile politics. Presidential spokesman, Mr Femi Adesina, in a statement, accused the PDP of shedding crocodile tears. "The sad and unfortunate killings in Plateau State over the weekend have been turned to opportunity to once again play irresponsible politics, particularly by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), which says it is declaring seven days of mourning." "These are dolorous times that call for deep introspection on how cheap human lives have become, and the proffering of actionable ideas on how to get out of the bind. But the PDP would rather dance on the graves of the dead, playing cheap, infantile politics. "The comatose and prostrate party is declaring seven days of mourning, during which flags in its offices would be flown at half mast nationwide. But unknown to the party, those flags had been forcefully lowered since its 2015 loss at the polls, and may remain so for a long time to come, because Nigerians are politically discerning, and cannot be hoodwinked by cheap antics," he said. https://www.dailytrust.com.ng/plateau-killings-pdp-playing-cheap-infantile-politics-presidency-258489.html Mynd44 lalasticlala oam4j |

The Plateau State Governor Rt. Hon. Simon Bako Lalong has condemned in very strong terms the protest organized by some group of people over the recent attacks in the Northern Senatorial District which turned violent. In a statement signed by Director, Press & Public Affairs, Samuel, Emmanuel Nanle, t he governor said that it was regrettable that the conveners of the protest under the joint auspices of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Northern Zone of Plateau State; the Youth Wing of Christian Association of Nigeria (YOWICAN), Plateau State and Bazata Gospel Team allowed the protest to be hijacked by hoodlums. Lalong added that the hoodlums took advantage of the procession led by these organizations to destroy government’s properties, vehicles of Civil Servants and visitors to the Government House running into millions of Naira. He noted that the protest represents one of the saddest commentaries in the state’s collective resolve to stand as a people united against evil. Governor Lalong opined that the name of the Church as a moral rectitude shouldn’t have been associated in any way with group of persons who would contemplate violence as a show of discontent especially in this period that all Godly and peace loving citizens are sharing in the grief of the bereaved. https://www.dailytrust.com.ng/lalong-knocks-can-over-violent-protest-at-plateau-s-government-house-258471.html Mynd44 lalasticlala oam4j |

The Federal Government has flagged-off the reconstruction of Abuja-Kaduna-Zaria to Kano expressway, at a cost of N155.4 billion Speaking during the flag-off ceremony yesterday at Ciromawa in Garun Malam Local Government Area of Kano State, Minister of Power, Works and Housing Babatunde Raji Fashola said the Federal Executive Council gave approval for reconstruction of the expressway based on its importance as the major road linking the North and South of the country. He said reconstruction of the 375.4km expressway was awarded to Julius Berger with a completion period of 36 months. Fashola said the project would be executed simultaneously in three phases saying “There will be no reason to stop work for lack of funds as the President had assured us of that, the work will continue non-stop till we gathered here again to commission it.” The Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II, commended the Federal Government on its decision to reconstruct the road, which was being described by motorists as ‘death trap’ due to its deplorable state for decades https://www.dailytrust.com.ng/fg-flags-off-n155bn-abuja-kano-road-reconstruction-258205.html Mynd44 lalasticlala oam4j |

The Nigerian Union in South Africa (NUSA) has called on President Muhammadu Buhari to intervene in Friday’s killing of another Nigerian in South Africa. The Publicity Secretary of the union in South Africa, Mr Habib Salihu, made the appeal on Tuesday in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on telephone from Pretoria, South Africa. He said the victim, James Ekeh, 36, an indigene of Imo, was killed at Mabopane Station near Pretoria by unknown assailants. “Since Ebuka (another victim) was killed in Rustenburg more than two months ago without any arrest or prosecution, no fewer than six Nigerians have been brutally murdered. “These killings came without any meaningful intervention to bring the perpetrators to book irrespective of their nationality,’’ he said. Salihu said that Ekeh, a tomato trader at Mabopane market in Pretoria, was shot several times by unknown gunmen. He said the victim was killed at the same spot where another Nigerian, Victor Onazi, was shot dead less than three weeks ago. “Four other Nigerians were also shot dead in Johannesburg area less than two months ago. “ This means that an average of one Nigerian is gunned down every week,’’ he added. https://www.dailytrust.com.ng/unions-seeks-buhari-intervention-in-killing-of-nigerians-in-south-africa-258086.html Mynd44 lalasticlala oam4j |

As the value of the Chinese currency slides at the international currency market, analysts said Nigeria could see cheaper imports from the Asian giant on the back of the currency swap deal made recently. The Chinese yuan tumbled to its lowest level in six months after the People’s Bank of China (PBoC) reduced the reserve ratio requirement for commercial banks by 0.5 per cent. This move by the PBoC according to Lukman Otunuga, an analyst with global forex broker, FXTM, may fuel concerns over China’s economic outlook at a time where global trade concerns continue to weigh heavily on sentiment. Nigeria and China sealed a currency- swap deal worth $2.4 billion on May 4, 2018 , that is expected to provide local currency liquidity between Nigerian businessmen and their Chinese counterparts. https://leadership.ng/2018/06/26/nigeria-imports-to-grow-as-chinese-yuan-weakens/ Mynd44 dominique puskin lalasticlala |

Threat by members of the nPDP to dump the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in protest against alleged marginalisation and harassment has been suspended for now. The plan was shelved following the intervention of some governors and other APC leaders. The Nationgathered that chieftains of the group met on Friday with some governors and other party leaders in Abuja who prevailed on them to remain in the APC and promised that their grievances would be looked into. The Friday meeting came hours to the commencement of the party’s national convention which took place in Abuja yesterday. One of the nPDP leaders, who craved anonymity, said the meeting became necessary because “it is time for ceasefire.” At the meeting with the governors were a former governor, Senators,Reps and a member of the outgoing National Working Committee (NWC) of the APC.http://thenationonlineng.net/npdp-drops-defection-threat-meets-governors-others-for-truce/ Mynd44 lalasticlala oam4j |
