The Office of the Accountant General of the Federation illegally withdrew N665.8 billion from Development of Natural Resources Fund and Stabilization Funds and given as loans to various government agencies, the Senate has said. The Red Chamber said the funds were withdrawn between 2004 and 2015 contrary to the established objectives of the fund. The revelation is contained in the report of Senate Committee on Public Accounts on the Federation Account. The committee had been investigating expenditures of federal government agencies from 2015-2018 based on an audit report by the Auditor-General for the Federation. The panel presented the report of its six-month investigation on the Federation Account for the year 2015, which was approved by the Red Chamber before proceeding on annual recess. The Auditor General’s report, in its query against depletion of Special Funds had said, “Amount totaling N455.8 billion were withdrawn from Development of Natural Resources Fund as loans to various beneficiaries between 2004 and 2015, contrary to the established objectives of the fund. “The purpose of the Development of Natural Resources Fund is to provide financial resources to develop alternative mineral resources to oil and gas. “Also, various amounts totaling N210.3 billion were withdrawn from Stabilization Fund as loans to various beneficiaries, between 2004 and 2015 contrary to the established objectives of the fund. “The purpose of the Stabilization Fund is to provide for unforeseen contingencies and economic downturn and the beneficiaries are the 36 states and Federal Capital Territory (FCT). The stabilization fund belongs to three tiers of government.” The breakdown of the beneficiaries of the funds showed that the entitlement of former President Goodluck Jonathan and Vice President, Namadi Sambo, which is about N1.5 billion, were paid on June 11, 2015. It also revealed that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) received about N20 billion from Development of Natural Resources Fund apart from the N17.9 billion it got from Brown Rice Levy, Comprehensive Import Supervision Scheme (CISS) Pool Levy and Rice Levy. The Senate, in its resolution, directed the Accountant-General of the Federation to ensure refund of the monies within 60 days. https://dailytrust.com/accountant-general-illegally-withdrew-n665-8bn-from-special-fund-senate mynd44 oam4j lalasticlala seun |

Borno State Governor, Prof Babagana Umara Zulum, yesterday commissioned five primary and secondary schools done by the Borno State Education Trust Fund, created by the administration. Complete rehabilitation works were carried out to transform existing structures in the five schools while new classrooms were constructed. More than 5,000 structures were destroyed by Boko Haram in primary, secondary and tertiary schools in different parts of the state since 2009, according to a 2016 report co- authored by the World Bank, European Union, Nigeria’s Federal Government and governments of Adamawa, Bauchi, Borno, Gombe, Taraba and Yobe states which make up the Northeast where the insurgents have been operating. Zulum had since 2019, constructed dozens of mega-sized secondary and primary schools and rehabilitated many which are being commissioned in phases. The governor announced the recruitment of 3,000 qualified teachers that will be deployed to various schools to boost the education sector before the end of the year. He said the Trust Fund is providing instructional materials and equipment, academic staff training and development as well as facilitating research and publication in schools and educational institutions across Borno State. Nothing good in PDP looters association ![]() Tinubu the Jagaban of the Nation will scatter them to piecies come 2023!! |
The Presidency took swipe on the Peoples
Democratic Party (PDP) for saying that the All
Progressives Congress (APC) has turned the
Presidential Villa into its headquarters.
At their meeting in Bauchi on Monday, PDP
governors accused the APC of “parading”
coerced PDP members who defected into
the ruling party.
But, Special Adviser to President
Muhammadu Buhari on Media and Publicity
Femi Adesina chided the governors for belly-
aching over the misfortune of their party.
Speaking from the United Kingdom (UK) in a
television interview, Adesina claimed some
of them (PDP governors) come to the Villa at
night unannounced. According to him, some PDP governors have been talking with the APC leadership on plans to defect, saying that many of them will dump their party next year when President Buhari begins to inaugurate projects. The presidential spokesman said: “There will be a massive unveiling of infrastructure come 2022; starting from commissioning of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway which the PDP could not achieve in 16 years, to the AKK Pipeline and so many highways. These massive projects will make a lot of PDP governors to join the APC.” He described the PDP as a beleaguered party in total confusion. “Between now and 2023, there will be more confusion in the party. No one makes noise when they (PDP) were holding BoT (Board of Trustees) meetings during Obasanjo (Olusegun) Yar’Adua (Umaru) and Jonathan (Goodluck) regimes. Why are they complaining now?” https://thenationonlineng.net/more-pdp-governors-to-defect-says-presidency/ mynd44 oam4j lalasticlala |
