They record their f*uck sessions and watch it later together for the fun of it.
They claim it's a way of adding spice to their marriage.
Can you believe that?

I will give you an example that is unrelated just to point out the problem with adhering to such values. Today must of our young people cannot speak up for themselves in the face of oppression, because our value system forbids us to challenge our elders. We are both aware where this has landed us as a nation.
It's either you have little depth about the value system that forbids us to challenge elders and in what context it is situated; or you can't separate the two. Even from the days of our fore-fathers, misguided kings have been dethroned, Youths have challenged shameless elders who have overstepped their bounds. There are several adages that address boundaries around respect and conducts......

I don't do back and forths so this will be my last response to you.

I don't agree to the racial profiling by racist Caucasians of Africans but you shouldn't complain too much of being labelled as animals when in reality most of you behave worse than animals.

I asked if as a parent you will be okay with your child being dragged around like that REGARDLESS the offense, but you're so fixated on eye lashes as if that's the biggest offense a teenager can commit. You probably would have spoken against the assault if she stole or destroyed school property (which are worse offenses by the way) since your biggest problem is fixing eye lashes.

As long as a physical assault and infringement of human rights took place, the affected is within their legal rights of sue. Anybody can file a civil suit, it's left to the court to decide.
I will also take the same position with you on back-and-forth with this as my last post on this issue

1. Regardless of this offense you say...... I struggle to disconnect the offence from the the question you posed. If a child is "dragged" justly and unjustly that should be addressed on its merit. Your attempt to shade the basis of this saga and portray a child-right abuse is to me pandering to sentiments. Yes I do not support the pictures and videos being put online, and I argued this school can bear no responsibility for there's currently no official response of the school yet.

2. Rules are rules, small infringements, big infringements are subjective terms. What can be accepted as the right procedure is what is stipulated in the schools' regulation. So the argument of "if she stole or destroys school property....." holds no water in this context. If the rules says for example that for those eye-lashes and make-up, not only will she be denied entry, in addition she must serve punishment or suspended....rules are rules. That is why the girl and the mother should read the rules and regulation of QC well before opting to attend.

3. On your argument of physical assault, beyond insistence of capturing her face on camera, which I had put in perspective, I did not see an arguable physical assault here. Yes she can sue, I want her to....let's test our laws....

Are you saying that the ONLY way the security and school staff can handle the situation is by dragging her head around and putting her on video? Why then do we take offense when Caucasians use derogatory terms on us like monkeys, shithole etc? Are we not animalistic in nature if majority of us believe it is justifiable to publicly humiliate a teenager because she broke rules? Couldn't there have been other ways to punish her? If you were a parent, you would have been ok with your child's head being dragged around like that regardless what she did?

If Queens College does not release a statement distancing itself from this show of shame, they are at risk of law suit. The whole fracas happened within it's premises, carried out by it's employees so they are 100% culpable.
1. You mean Caucasian call you monkeys and you agree? I cannot address what you've personally acceded to as a self-fulfilling prophesy
2. If you scroll up, you will see where I posted how I erred as a parent in near similar situation and how I quickly fell in line with the school rules and regulation, when it was told to me. I dare say my daughter knows some standing rules and will never even take it out. How would I as a responsible parent put fake eye-lashes on my daughter's eye and say oya let's go to school............ (When ayam not mad!)
3. It will be interesting to see you join the train to sue QC (assuming it is possible)...... so you will go to a judge and say...eeemm Yes they broke the rules, but the school had no right to ......... what logic!

So manhandling and humiliating her on video was the way to go about it? If you watch th video, the woman was saying "I told them to leave my daughter alone let me take her home". Meaning this mess would have been averted of she had been turned back at the gate but the staff wanted to humiliate the girl. Insisting she must be recorded on video is a violation of her rights and a case the school will not win if the woman decides to sue
Nope!. The mess would have been avoided if she didn't come like that in the first place. That she brought her daughter to school in that manner meant she was ready to damn all consequences and was ready to fight. It stands logic on the head that you expect a palliative treatment when a gross violation of rules are committed.

Sue? Except she wants to plunge herself further down...... Officially QC did not do the video; those that did, did it privately for other purposes that can legally be explained. So, what will she sue QC for? violating the school regulations?

Very well said. I wanted to avoid the error of assumptions. The 40sec video is not sufficient evidence for me to judge the entire scene that played out.
I thought in a school with over 500 boarders and we still do security check before any child reports back to the hostel from home. These kids still find a way of reshaping their skirts and slim-fitting their trousers. Kids will at one time try to be wayward. It is who they are, who we were and who they will be. Our approach at addressing issues such as these goes a long way in instilling discipline or condemning and totally loosing them to their wayward life. I am neither supporting the mother nor the girl. They were both very wrong and deserved to be sent back home or given whatever disciplinary measure the school deemed fit. However, my point is that the girl was judged according to the laws of the school but it corrected. What is judgement without correction? It shouldn't have degenerated into a public scene with videos going on the internet. That is judgement without correction.
I am so sure the girl will not change but look for a safer Haven where she can do what she feels like. You can never judge her emotions from that video. From the look of things, the weight of the public condemnation might just make her and her.mum get determined not to stop or change their mindset. The security guys cut the tree of indicency but didn't address the root. The tree will still sprout.
I can blame the school management for not waging in and correcting the error, not just judging it.
Once again, no one knows the entire narrative of this story. It's hard to totally believe what you see on the internet these days until you see or hear the other half-truth. I just felt it will be fair to think otherwise.
1. Why I appreciate your argument that the school should "correct"........ you should also understand that punishments in itself have both deterrent and corrective objectives. I believe we all know the basic borderlines of right and wrong, and should not be arguing on the blurry lines or overlaps. How well do you want this handled? They invite them to "counselling" sessions? The mother was spurring for a fight right from home, or how do you explain encouraging her daughter to come to school like that? What do you seek to "correct" in someone that breaks law with impunity? This is the reason why we clamour that the full dictates of the rules be applied.

2. While we must seek to instill discipline in some errant kids as you advanced, we must also be careful to protect the already disciplined one from bad influences. If this had been allowed to let slide, you can imagine what signals it sends to other gullible children and what catastrophic effect it will have on Queens College's reputation. As you said, they have over 500 boarders, do you think QC has the time and energy to baby-sit some errant-kid (mother & child) on how to obey simple rules? As far as I see it, someone who had the audacity to show up at the school with fixed-eyelashes and makeup had damned the consequences and was up for a fight.

3. I also believe that parents should not out-source their functions in proper upbringing to other institutions. It is not the primary responsibility of QC to make sure the girl does not go wayward, it is the responsibility of that irresponsible mother. Yet in this context it is the responsibility of QC to make sure that such irresponsibility is not brought into the school. The school can and will still counsel, but that will be after she has served the punishment stipulated in the school rules. You cannot counsel and unrepentant and combative mother like that.

4. Wrt security and videos etc. I believe these are secondary and that is why I had not given much credence to it up till now. First off, those who took the video and put it online needed to have exercised restraints in that regard. Yes they could have taken the video for posterity and protection.....

Both the mother and teachers are wrong! Why would the mum allow her child go to school like that? The teacher should have sent her home or to principal's office for appropriate disciplinary action to be taken instead of manhandling and humiliating her like that and even videoed. No mother would stand back and watch her child manhandled regardless what the child did.
Madam,

In most boarding houses, especially FG schools, teachers are empowered to take decisions of this nature. They do not even need to bring it to principal's notice. The guiding frameworks are already set. That is why there are inspection points before being checked-in to hostels.

That child probably went for an event during the weekend and couldn't remove the lashes before Monday morning.

They would have simply send her back home not trying to pull her back to the school which to me is assault and the video is very wrong.

She made a mistake, send her home or discipline her after the parent must have vacated the school premises not assaulting her in presence of her mother,no woman will take that .

Imagine that silly teacher saying goodbye to queens college,na your papa build the school. You wey dem go transfer soon go ikorodu or ijanikin.
Submissions like your is simply self-justification for wrong doing and condoning irresponsibility. You cannot write nor interpret QC rules for QC. The reasons and justification of how she came to school with lipsticks and fixed-eyelashes should be saved for LIBs for Christ's sakes.

How do you expect them to even accept her into the school when she's not compliant already?

Finally, the teacher can say "goodbye to queens college" and it can be consequential or inconsequential. The important things is the optics is bad for the mother. If the Federal Ministry of Education takes the matter up and wants to make a statement, this may TRULY be "GOODBYE to QUEENS COLLEGE"

So, you’re justifying the rough handling and the unprofessional attitude of the school staff? There are better ways to go about things like this without it getting out of hands. And for me, if any idiot lays his hands on my daughter like the security man did to raise her face, he’s ready to bleed.
and you will end up in Jail. All these chest-beating at the expense of common sense will only fetch you nothing but further embarrassment. If this matter becomes what QC decides to take up legally, the woman will further subject herself and family to untold wahala.

Yes, she was very wrong to be dressed that way to school and she deserved to be turned back but I think the security guys didn't handle the situation well. She should have been corrected without a public disgrace. That probably made the woman lose her senses and wanted to show she is not a weakling
.....and ended up showing she is daft.

1. Pray tell, how do you expect the security to correct her in private? Did you realise that in some boarding schools screening are done at the gate or far away from the hostel so that those non-compliant are not allowed into the school premises?
2. At the gate where the event happened, everyone is already public.
3. The woman lost her sense right from her home......

All the people in that video are wrong, of course.

1) The Queens College staff that held the girl's hands, held her face up for the camera and recorded the video should never work in any school again. The girl is a child and they are meant to protect the rights of the child, not to try and humiliate her in this way. - Unfortunately, this is Nigeria where we bring gun to a knife fight at-time to make strong statements. I must confess, I had near similar situation on my hands when I took my daughter to school for extension classes (JSS 3 ) during holidays. She still had the attachment-hairdo on; which she did for the holidays. School SIMPLY told us it was unacceptable and wont allow her in school. Myself and my niece had to become "hair-dresser" at a corner, removed the damn-thing. I got home and told wifey that we should NEVER be found that "wanting" again. SIMPLE

2) The child should also be punished for fixing fake eye lashes if they are against the rules. - I believe even as a child, she should be well acquainted with school rules and regulations; and should have duly informed the mother. Yes she deserves to be punished.... but judging by the mother's show of shame fighting security and teachers, I am persuaded to believe that this is all on the mother.

3) The mother should be punished for going back to fight the Queens College staff. There are better and legal ways to handle the situation, rather than assaulting the staff. The mother has turned this into a police case already. QC should go to all length to make her an example

Why is it that we Nigerians are incapable of reasoning out of the box most of the time?. You are seeming asking too much, He's even struggling with reasoning "within the box"

I support Buhari on this one. For those of us who oppose this (strategically thought out policy implements) policy, please think deeply & think out of the box as well.

Could it be that, there are two strategic policy components to this?. Absolutely yes. We regain control of trade inflows and properly complete on outflow

Could the first component seek to position Nigeria, for some sectors to witness increase in productivity/revenue generation and etc?. Even much more. We have the capacity and scale to be a net exporter

Could the second component seek to early test the modus operandi of the newly signed Africa Free Trade Area & regional body like Ecowas engaging them to the seriousness of these treaties & how these treaties can sink some African economies while uplifting others. Thank God, that Nigeria have fired the first shot aimed at this complexities..... which I believe the outcome must be a stronger institution/regime to oversight the efficient running of these treaties to the benefit of all African economies while keeping the powerful predators guessing. chop knuckle
