no. Being a "Nigerian" is a better qualification. If we are talking about "local content", it means the local population should be given some advantage. NPDC took a large farmlands from indigenes without compensation. Isn't it injustice to give almost all jobs, not even specialised ones, to non-indigenes even when indigenes were willing to work? I witnessed a situation when an somebody brought a relative from south-east to become a cleaner, a job an indigene could have done.
Bros,

I am in the "terrain" so you know. If you please, avail us with the details of a project that NPDC took over farmlands without compensation. If my knowledge of Oil & Gas industry is still valid (and definitely 20yrs experience and still counting), I dare say no Oil company, govt, indegenous or IOC can "take over" lands. Land Acquisition through a legal transaction is valid means by which Oil company acquire land for project, even Right-of-way (ROW) for things as little as pipeline projects. I would be interested in this scenario and I can get the details out here in less than 24hrs.

The scenario of someone bringing a cleaner cleaner from SE to do a job in SS is not that clear from your description. I know for example that jobs that are "ceeded" to the local/operating communities are agreed in an MOU with local communities. How a South Easterner be brought to breach a an MOU and the community will not raise hell, beats my imagination.

If u look at construction of lagos ibandan rail line. You would notice that most of the workers are blacks, mostly Yoruba's.

But come to the 2nd Niger bridge from what I have read they say they use labour force from other regions, north and west in particular. While the indegenes are in a minority. According to local content law it should not be so.

They are nor asking for what is not there's all they ask is the company do what is right.
Give us the ratio of Yoruba's working on that road and the number of Igbos working on the 2nd Niger bridge. Not they said.

Let me tell you, it will only amount to foolishness on the side of the Igbo's if that work is abandoned because of this selfish demands. This is a project that the whole world has been told how we Igbo's are being marginalized because succeeding governments have refused doing the project. So why will anyone in his right senses encourage what those locals are doing?
Some of them just fart-out false and useless data for selfish reason. In the foolish claim the left the overall objective (Complete 2nd Niger Bridge and enjoy the commercial, political and economic benefits) and started chasing useless ego-centric pursuits. How did he come about the fact that most workers on Lagos-Ibadan express way are Yorubas? What a baseless and useless insinuation! The Yorubas don't even care if you make 100% of the workers on the project Igbos, JUST GET THE DAMN WORK DONE!

The 2 State Governors of Anambra and Delta along with the Ministry of Works should be swift on this. This project is far bigger than these communities.

Because of Nigeria factor, something should be given to the communities, but it should be treated as a gift not a demand. Left for me not even a Kobo.
They need to take a stand and give them NOTHING.

Don't concede to their shortsighted mumuness.
Dangote Refinery today would have suffered near similar fate if not for the no-nonsense approach Fashola adopted as Lagos State governor. The community people started disturbing Dangote project workers. Fashola went there in person, spoke in Yoruba and told them that he's handing over Dangote and his entire team to the leaders of the community, that they must be protected, that nothing must happen or slow down their work. Right in the full glare of the Media, He further threatened that if disturbance occurs, they will see the other side of him.

The community people arrested for the murder of Mr. Disu, Managing Director of FTZ are ruthlessly being dealt with today...

I once worked on a federal govt project in Benin city, NPDC project to be precise. Non-indigenes/non-south-southerners made up over 80% of the workforce even when the indigenes were willing to work. They still allowed the project to go on but when it happens in other regions, all hell is let lose. Igbos won't allow non-indigenes, hausas/fulanis won't and yorubas won't also. But south-south will be assumed to belong to everybody, same way oil is treated. We must learn to use the same measure for everybody. What u don't allow for yourself, don't use for others.
Let me get you, you mean the "qualification" to work on that NPDC project is "ethnicity"?

I know this lies & slandering will come up as long as it concerns development in the SE/SS region. What is happening to the Niger bridge is what is also happening to the Ogoni clean-up & the East West road etc. But when it concerns taking oil from the Niger delta by the parasitic regions, they will deploy all the military apparatus & might to destroy any uprising or dissenting voice. e.g Ken saro wiwa.
Pls,
Do tell us exactly what is happening on the second Niger bridge?

Is OMSL a government agency? It is a private company doing business. Why should it remit to the government?
Is it in the contract with NPA to collect on behalf of government?

It's all about the DOLLARs. Amaechi and all the people in government wants to be the people collecting $1500/day will 2023.
So OMSL as a private company can be in a contract and operate on Nigerian waters at the detriment of Nigeria?

You are OK with the contract provided "Amaechi does not get the money"huh?

This one sided manner is not how to fight corruption, it just shows that the man is super-corrupt and cunning, using his corruption fight to decimate one part of the country, to the advantage of his own part.

Mind you, l am for a complete and impartial decimation of all these crooks, but l want it doen without this partiality that Buhari is operating.
the underlined is the biggest fallacy of your statement. It is self delusion. Your stand is hardly against crime. Your stand is to allow your brother to continue to steal, because you believe others are not caught.

Pray tell, did you take this position when Atiku's Intels contract was stopped?

Hmmm......this is certainly a racket by the Jonathan Administration. (2014) and it is benefitting someone from Edo State. Crooks

But make no mistake about it, if this beneficiary was one Northerner, no one would dare cancel the contract.

Remember that for years now, Gold is being mined in Zamfara State, with no accruement to the Fed. Treasury and no one is talking about it but when ordinary local boys in SS are trying to refine Crude oil in their backyard, for their small gain, Buhari will send the Navy, DSS and Army against them.
Even Ondo state cannot mine its Bitumen deposits which is reputed to be ablut the largets in the whole world, because the FEd Govt will not allow it.

You see why l say in this Nigeria, "Some Cows Animals are more equal than others"? undecided undecided
This systematic emasculation of Southerners has to stop. Buhri is a nepotistic tribalist.
So Buhari became "nepotistic" because he stop sleaze allegedly committed by Southerners? It is Buhari's fault that Illegal miniing of gold has been going on in Zamfara for years now (using your own words)......meanwhile you conveniently left out the fact that that same illegal mining is currently being stopped by Buhari and people are being arrested by the same DSS.

Well I know that for some people, they are ready to outsource faculty, mortgage our collective enterprise, relegate rational and moral reasoning to the background just for tribe. Who "tribe" hep?

You could not reason that someone is wickedly stealing from you and I, be it northerner or southerner...... You are protesting the stoppage of stealing.....

It Bad move.
Even the US government IRS uses private security.
This is a case of someone else interested in that business arrangement, otherwise while will a new framework guide to guide SAA be coming online soon?
Just give Navy the duty. We don't need new framework
The SAA came about when Piracy was rife in the Gulf of Guinea. Pirates even blew the Atlas Cove Jetty.
Where was NNavy and NPA?

Vessels were hijacked in our waters and millions of dollars were paid as ransom.

Now someone did the maths of how much it has probably earned and wants to be the person earning that money.
....going by your analysis (which hardly makes sense) we should scrap the Navy, and give our security on waters to "Private Security".

Pray tell, why would Atlas Cove be blown up with corrupt govt of the past if the below is the end-game.

This means that OMSL Limited, allegedly, owned by a prominent politician penciled to challenge Edo State Governor Godwin Obaseki for the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship ticket in 2020, on behalf of the Nigerian Navy, collects, averagely, $133.28 million (N47.98 billion) annually. It has been collecting this fee since 2014.
Despite the fact that for that same security issue this was done

NPA argued that the patrol boat, NNS Dorina P101, as mother vessel, and the interceptor vessels, NNS Agede P258 and NNS Torie P259, were all purchased by it for the Nigerian Navy to patrol the anchorage and not to be designated for use at a facility that has no relationship with it.
So we invested in security patrol of our waters, yet privatized it?

But all the same, it's a commendable thing

Will we ever start building our train from inception till end .... Ministry of Science and Technology over to you !
I like your suggestion in part. .....but it will take concerted effort and investment (both govt & private sector) to do that. Dr. Andrew Neville (white man lecturer in LBS) has come up with a fantastic idea - "Nigeria should start a 10yr-project of building her own Carrier". I dare add "Train". This approach triggers local industries along the value-chain... but like I said govt, banks & other institutional investors have to commit to the project.
