I have not been to Eleme in over 10yrs, but if all you claim is true, see my answers in blue UDIOK: So many bros 1. The company is managed by Indians they pay kobo, Nigerians there work like elephant but eat like ant - Eleme pretrochemical was privatised by FG. As at the first year of operations post privatisation, it is on records that Eleme petrochemicals did not lay off any of the staffs they inherited from FG. The bear minimum of their pay was still the NNPC salary scale, in addition to what their new employers introduced. 2. More than 1000 trailers are parked by the road side there they dont have trailer park inside the premises thereby causing nuisance to other road users plying the road to FOT, FLT, port harcourt refinery, other thousands OGFZE within the business district at ONNE, again the road is East west road leading to Rivpoly Bori, Calabar, UYO, EKET, ORON ,Cameroon, ALSCON & Ibom Power plant at ikot abasi always narrowing down the road to one lane because of indiscriminate parking of Indorama trucks thereby causing gridlock and untold hardship for other road users This is a clear-cut traffic issue. I believe the state government should have (and should) address this. Fashola dealt with tanker drivers at Apapa port via LASTMA. 3. Petrochemicals as the name implies has to do with chemical processes, their method of toxic waste disposal is not well define and of-course you know government are not helping matters in this direction making the place a dumping ground for toxic waste Can you show by any link for evidence of Eleme petrochemical method of toxic waste disposal? 4. when you get to petrochemical plant at Eleme you will notice 24hours flare sending gas pollution to the air i am leaving at eliminigwe estate phase 3 close to the eleme plant there what we saw on our vehicles every morning is black soothe deposits like a stove that generate heavy carbons so it is not stories it is factual environmental degradation, pollution and intensive heat envelope the area and its environs. What compensation do you think will remedy this? This is a serious issue and it is at variance with what the indegenes displayed (DJ, Music and stuffs) 5. As a result of their heavy duty trucks plying that road in thousands, the roads are always in deplorable condition on a regular basis If the communities are strategic in their orientation, they better request Eleme Petrochemical to support in road rehabilitation, maintenance and construction
It is only in Nigeria that this kind of exploitation can be tolerated -----Iam totally in support of their agitation it has nothing to do with state government, Fed. Min. of environment in conjunction with ministry of Labour, min. of Land and housing to do something about the total exploitation witnessed by Eleme and Elelenwo communities |

So sad, the south westerners are controlling the big positons in MNCs. Bros, I did my NYSC in PH in 2000. My first experience was to note the rate at which ND men consume alcohol. In our camp at Nonwa, there was this woman who sells hot drinks inside NYSC camp. You will see men from villages come to this joint, sit with the woman all day, drink their life out and close with her. They repeat this action the next day.....and the next..... I left PH with an impression......I have never witnessed men who drink such level of toxic alcohol, who hardly work, lay-about folks and very violent. Back then, I recalled the youths protested and negotiated with Shell and Total to allocate jobs to community youths. Do you know that after these jobs were "seeded" to them, some of them wanted to sell the slots? I guess it was more "lucrative" to be in "agitation" than to be employed. I have spent over 17yrs in the Oil and Gas Industry, I have trailer-loads of sad-experience of community vs IOC/NOCs. While it can be argued that IOCs/NOCs can do much more, the damage these greedy community youths (and many elders) are causing to their locality is numerous. This situation will not go away in the ND soon except they reshape their value-system |

Annnonymous: If i may ask, what is the indices for selecting the less privileged? This gives a picture How We Selected Beneficiaries Of Conditional Cash Transfer – FG
The Federal Government, on Sunday said beneficiaries already partaking of its Conditional Cash Transfer across the nine pilot states were identified before the inauguration of the Muhammadu Buhari administration on May 29, 2015.
The beneficiaries are currently receiving N5000 monthly stipends in Bauchi, Borno, Cross Rivers, Ekiti, Kwara, Kogi, Niger, Osun (not Ogun as initially announced) and Oyo, according to a statement by the Senior Special Assistant on Media & Publicity in the Office of the Vice President, Laolu Akande.
On the progress of the Buhari administration’s Social Investment Programmes, SIP, Akande said the Community-Based Targeting, CBT model of the World Bank was used two years ago to identify most of the beneficiaries in the pilot States, as the World Bank is also an active agent in the entire process.
The data collected, he said, belongs to Nigeria, debunking claims that “there is no way anyone can describe the selection of the beneficiaries of the CCT as partisan as the beneficiaries from eight of the nine pilot States were picked even before this administration came into office.
“First, the officials at federal level, working with the state officials, identify the poorest Local Government Areas, using an existing poverty map for the state, then the LG officials identify the poorest communities in the LGAs and we send our teams there.”
The first thing the team does after selection of the LGAs, he explained further, is to select members of the NOA, the LGA and community officials to form the CBT team. Then we train the selected officials on how to conduct Focus Group discussions at community level. These focus groups comprise of women, men, youth, as the community determines.
After training them, the CBT teams goes to each community to sensitize the leaders, including traditional rulers, on the CBT process and the necessity for objectivity and openness in the process.
At that meeting, they firm up a date to convene a community meeting at a designated location within the community.
On the set date, discussions are held in the local languages, using terminologies that resonate in that community. The CBT team will explain to the community the purpose of the gathering, that is to determine the parameters of poverty upon which persons can be described as poor and vulnerable within the context of that community.
The CBT teams will then engage each group (men, women and youth) in the conversation around the criteria and parameters for determining the poorest people. The groups would then be encouraged to identify those households that fall within the criteria that the community itself determines, and told that the information is required for government’s planning purposes.
Continuing, Akande said “various poverty criteria have been thrown up so far. In some cases, people have said it’s the number of times they eat, it’s the number of times the fumes of firewood go up from the house, the size of farmland or type of crops grown, etc.”
Then the groups resume in plenary and report back the criteria and parameters discussed.
“The CBT team would then compile the criteria and parameters and ask each group to return to their break-out sessions and now begin to identify the households in the community that have been identified as fitting the criteria and parameters.
“Once that is done at the groups, everybody comes together again with names compiled by each group. Now, when the same name is featured in at least two of the three groups, it is deemed qualified to be listed on the Social Register.
At this stage, we now enumerate the members of the household and open a bank account for each of the caregivers by capturing the biometric data of households identified as among the poorest and vulnerable.”
According to Akande, in eight of the nine pilot States, this process had taken place at least two years ago under a programme supported by the World Bank under an agreement entered into directly with the state governments, on the YESSO project. The ninth state is Borno, which was added because of the IDP situation, with the list of the beneficiaries that has been verified by SEMA.
“This is an entirely fair and transparent process and short of mischief, there is no way you can describe this process as partisan. The President is President of the entire country and the SIPs are for all Nigerians as the case may be.”
In addition to the nine pilot states, and with the release of funds for the programmes, the CBT model has now commenced in other States.
The states have been updated on the requirements for the engagement by the Federal team and once the lists from States are enumerated; their details uploaded onto a server at the Nigeria Inter-Bank Settlement System, NIBSS, which hosts the electronic platform that validates all the payments of the FG for the SIPs.
Banks have been informed that payments must be at community level, so those engaged for the pilot stage have in turn engaged several payment agents, to ensure cash-out to the beneficiaries in their places of residence which are distant to the bank locations.

Caseless: I'll post a judgement of the law court for you and @Mapet to peruse.
Hope you guys will understand and tell the world the contradiction in their rule dress code to the constitution. If any in law is in disagreement with the constitution, it's void.
Yes, nothing is absolute. Even section 45 of the constitution states unequivocally when and why such right can be taken off an individual . The law school is acting outside that provisions and as people in law profession, they must be seen to be acting within the ambit of the law. Like I said to others, Firdaus is free to take her case to court. I believe the Nigerian constitution respects your religious rights but not a vehicle to impose your religion on constituted organs of the same constitution. The border-line between that can only be explicated in court. Some of the cases you mentioned are reviewed on their individual merits and not a blanket covering. The law school amon others are very well aware of these cases as well |

SuccesYear: personal religion entails your total way of living e.g mode of dressing, what to wear, when to talk and listen etc
Everyone knows hijab is part of Muslim lady way of dressing and remember we are still talking religion here 1. Yes, but I also want to believe personal religion does not tell you to disobey the laws of the land. The Bible points out to "Give unto Caesar, Ceaser's..... I am not against people freely practicing their religion especially women wearing their hijab. If you scroll back into the Osun hijab issue, I argued that Osun Christians cannot just wake-up a claim government schools as "christian schools" just because people practice their religion (wear hijab) while learning. * I am a Christian 2. My argument here against Firdaus' case is a simple adherence to laid down ordinances. If we cannot be disciplined enough to be selfless, collectively upholding what is neutral to all (dress code), how then can we stem chaos? 3. There is nothing that is static in this life. I have earlier submitted that Firdaus should test her case in court. If she succeed, then clarity is set. |

dvee2: You just come here blabbing and cursing still not able to bring a valid argument. I asked u a simple question, which Nigeria law did the girl break by wearing a hijab no answer and you are talking about rules I ask you another question school rule and Nigerian constitution which one comes first? No answer you said the school did not stop her from practicing her religion, my friend herein lies the problem most of you fail to understand it does For a muslim girl denying her to cover her hair is like denying her to practice her religion because it's a divine Instruction. The next thing u would say is why can't she briefly remove it? And I ask you if someone asked you to briefly deny your Lord Jesus Christ for only an hour would you? It's the same for a Muslim girl the head cover is compulsory no removal once outside. Finally most of you don't read, there is a similar case that went up to the Nigerian Apeal court and the Muslim girl won the case because it's simply a case of rule VS fundamental human right uphold by the constitution. the judges in this case ruled in favour of the Muslim girl,so who are u to come here talking about twisted logic? You have the twisted logic and Islamophobia because u can tolerate a small girl neatly tucking in her hijab under her graduation gown. FYI Google Lagos state government vs Aisha Abdul Kareem same hijab issue, same argument by fools like you and the girl won the case in court. dvee2: All these small lawyers Taya me. So what you read in law school told you that school Rule is superior to section 38 and 42 of the Nigerian constitution? You see why our lawyers only follow politicians? Read that together with section 1(3) of the Nigerian constitution.
What this small girl is telling you is that these rule negates her rights under the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
Roza Parks is aware of the segregation rule before she sat in front of the bus, nothing would have change want of that singular act.
There was a rule that female soldiers should not be at combat zone before we fought to reverse it
Time changes and so does rule. Tolerance is the key word. Wearing hijab neatly tucked into her law gown does not diminish her capacity neither does it infringe on your fundamental human right, therefore why hate?
Islamophobia is wrong. Even Britain where u borrowed this legal system from hv gone beyond this OK let try to understand your twisted logic..... So a personal religious beliefs should supercede a collective agreement as guaranteed by that same constitution? If the small girl is saying it negates her rights....... Does she not know the way to the courts? She should try her lick in court and tell them about "Rosa Parks"..... like we don't know...... Was her freedom to practice her religion infringed upon? Absolutely not. The law school simply asked her to obey laid down rules. Her inability to process that (same as yours) is the problem here. People like you see everything as against you, from a selfish perspective and not from a selfless one. How many religion do we have in Nigeria.. and which one has alleged in this context that laws school dress-code violates their beliefs |

Our government are just taking advantage of the citizens. I do not subscribe to making assertive statements without data to substantiate......but you cannot claim government's culpability when you had flouted the law ab-initio. Many fakers parade building projects claiming to be from the MOL, local govt and BCA. It is fool hardy to give bribe without going to their office to ascertain what is the true position. We once caught a guy in my estate, that claimed to be a representative of Local govt. He was going round building sites and collecting bribes. Someone challenged him and demanded he identified himself properly.......to cut the long story short, he was searched and the ID card discovered on him showed he's a driver at the local govt. |
