Hmmmmmmm.
Even here in nigeria, i don't think we are safe because the baby mamas, bastards are growing and 20 years from now they will occupy key posts and influence laws.
We are really not safe (I never implied we are. I only chipped in the last statement because the Americans already have it worse and our discussion is related to single motherhood). Marriage is no longer seen as big deal these days and baby mamas seem to be a trend and it's a growing trend. Fathers need to be in their homes and raise their kids together with the mother of the kids. Also, contrary to what women like to think, it takes a real man to raise a real man. Real men are not born but made made that's most boys from single mothers are weak, simps, and usually undisciplined.

The future is not a pleasant one. Las las mgtow will come to Nigeria in full force because smart men will realise that the game is already rigged against them and the best move is not to play. This evil is coming soon as we can that the female monikers are here are in full support of the wicked divorce and child support laws we see in the west. Even our sisters, mums, and all other women (feminist or not) will never protest such laws.

Martinez sorry for replying late, have been busy lately.
About Men making and enacting divorce laws that are detrimental to us (Men), Martinez i think we have a very big problem coming to hit us men sooner or later.
We cant see it but it is there. Where we are looking at is not where the problem will come from.
Over the years, men have been pumping and dumping ladies with kids and these kids will grow up without any fatherly figure and one way or the other will enact laws to get at us.
Pls look at the big picture. No man in his senses will make those ridiculous laws, they were made by disgruntled bastards among us that have all been brainwashed by there toxic mothers about we men.
That is one draw back about giving the woman the custody of the child because she will transfer the venoms to the child.
Martinez i think we are in trouble because sooner or later, these bastards will find there way to the senate and change laws. Believe me

If you have time, you can go through my long response to kazyhm on the alimony and child support laws on page 5 of this thread. I agree with what you said. Not just these bastards who were conditioned by their mothers, the children of baby mamas, mothers who got sole custody, or even married women who spend too much time with their kids while father is away and providing. The simping culture and white knighting won't help matters because these women-pleasing simps and white knights would pass these laws thinking "afterall it won't come back to bite me because my wives/girlfriends aren't like that. Women are gold". The wicked divorce laws and child support laws we see in west are notions that cunningly appear compassionate and for the good of all. It is a feminist stuff that will ruthlessly draw life from any source. Whether we like it or not, all women, both feminists and non-feminists, love those wicked laws and would never protest against it. grin

I pity my American brothers because government gives women, especially black women, the incentives to build a fatherless home and be single mothers. So more brainwashing and simps. grin

I understand all your points but would they ?

When they want to make the rules applicable for men alone and amend it at will.

Some arguments with female can never be concluded because what they say is not what they mean most times

So basically I take what they say as a rant and not something to be act upon.........at the end if things go south, they have no other clue rather than run for cover and push men to face the consequences as the man(the head) for what "they" manipulated men to allow them do
You have said it all. Your last paragraph is gold. As ubunja once told me, expecting logic and honest reasoning from a woman in issues like this is like expecting the sun to rise in the west. These toxic and irresponsible women are not the main problem instead it is the weak and simping men who yield and tolerate every irrational and dangerous demands and caprices of these women.

I already ceased debating with the op. What can you expect from someone who thinks giving women equal rights and opportunities as men is not empowerment instead they need the divorce laws (alimony) and child support laws to be empowered? This same faulty and crooked reasoning craves the kind of alimony and divorce laws we see in western countries and these laws are what brought the marriage situation in western countries to where they are today and made marriage a business scheme for the woman and the government. In those countries, men are going mgtow because they've realised that marriage is now a business and game remorselessly rigged against them. This is the same thing the crook (Ladycεwhy) is looking for. The usual act of looking for benefits and ignoring the consequences.

What can I expect from someone who thinks most Nigerian men are deadbeats and don't want to take care of their children? The men hating is really over the top. There is no reason for divorce laws or alimony. Highest they can do is tackle parental neglect and hold both individuals (husband and wife) responsible unlike in western societies where the man is only held responsible and ruthlessly exploited. Mind you, laws are never perfect and cannot remedy and cover every possible bad situation. Sometimes, the child neglected might be too small to even sue or might have no good samaritan to sue on it's behalf. That's a dead end that can't be resolved without making any individual solely the scapegoat and it would be unfair to do this as both parents should be held accountable. Another instance is where both couples are completely broke and there is nothing the law can do. If we start taking children to foster homes, trust many poor Nigerians to abuse this process to cunningly have others take care of their kids and if no foster parent is willing to come forth, what can the do to both broke parents? Fine them? No way! Imprison them? How will that help? If government starts feeding and catering for such children with tax payers' money, won't it be abused and exploited by poor parents too? Bad choices, bad consequences.

As a woman, build your wealth so you can take care of your child in case your husband disappoints. Husbands too face the risk of their wives abandoning them for another man but OP never addressed this or talked about divorce laws and child support in favour of men because to her, women are the only victims and somehow feminists, despite thinking they are equal to men, presume men to be providers. Men also face the risk of paternity fraud but the op, just like all feminists, will never address this. What about situations where the wife completely changes? As the op said, women don't kick men out of the house and that's true because men are the owner of the houses which they built with their money. Women are empowered.

kazyhm:
Why this debate is tiring is that emotional women are religious and yet don't want to abolish what has been written in their religious books and don't want to follow it as well.

Gender roles are clearly defined in all the holy books

The only way you can practice what you preaches is to stay unmarried. That you wouldn't have to worry your head about a man's role.

The funniest part is women know all about all that is wrong with men.
Oga, my problem is that she is worried about nonexistent problems and an erroneous notion. Let me explain.
1) The marriage arrangement of a woman doing the chores alone and sharing bills while the man shares the bills only doesn't describe the average family in Nigeria or even the average family globally. Such marriage arrangement cannot be obtained even if you follow the gender roles of the bible. In virtually all cases in Nigeria, it's the man doing the providing alone while the woman takes care of the chores or she and man share the chores (even though the man is providing alone because ''it's too difficult to look after the child'' ) or there is an house maid. In fact, even when the woman has money, it's not unusual to see her practice "my money is my money, your money is our money" as the guy foots all the bills. Even when they share the bills, the husband will share the chores. So the op is ranting over a very very rare marriage arrangement.
2) Even when such marriage arrangements exists, it cannot be due to feminism as most feminists, being the hypocrites that they are, would marry a richer provider husband and have the beneficial marriage arrangements in my first point. Even if a feminists shares the bills, she would invariably share the chores with her husband. The feminist's ego and ideals would never allow her have the marriage setting the op described. So you see, the op erred when she said such marriage arrangement (as described in her op) is due to feminism. She is plainly wrong and feminism is not leading any woman to take double responsibilities.
3) As I have said, men do not owe women their money. It's not written anywhere that a real man provides for a woman. It is not incumbent on any man to provide for a woman and it is not a sin if a woman is asked to provide (prove me wrong).
4) Women are already empowered. They already have the same rights and opportunities as men.

All these were what I was trying to address in my argument with the op.

Good day everyone.

I want to ask, if you have ever lost your faith, what was the last straw that broke the camel's back and made you say "I'm done following Christ"?

I'm at a point in my life that I'm tired, I've really given myself passionately and steadfastly to the word of God and his works, bit, lately, the issues of the world has overwhelmed me and it doesn't seem like hope is anywhere close.

I'm tired, having gone to church for some time, my faith has grown so weak, I'm thinking of calling it quit forever.

I acknowledge that God exists, but, I don't think he's with me anymore. I can't keep going through my issues and looking up to God and he's just there being silent.

This is a God I could have given my life for in the past. Why has he abadoned me in my trying times even though I've not been faithful as I was for close to 5 years.
Don't lose your faith in god because you are frustrated and angry that he didn't grant your desires or helped you out. If you must lose your faith, let it be on the ground of sound reasoning. Either god exists or not. Are there evidences or sound arguments for the existence of any of the religious gods? NO! The existence of any god has no basis in reality. God is nonexistent. All religions are accepted by faith instead of evidence or a sound logical basis.

Greetings to you all.

I have a disturbing thought I'd like to share. Recently, i stumbled on a video which had a caption "Apart from sex, women have nothing to offer in a relationship."

I totally disagree with this.

I am not disagreeing as a feminist. I am disagreeing as a sane woman.

In as much as a lot of women folks are guilty of the caption charged against them, i think the male folks should also be blamed as an encouraging factor to this.

Gentleman, apart from calling her to come over to your place for the weekend, have her wash your clothes, keep your house clean and have massive sex. Have you tried to engage her in an intellectual/an intelligent discourse?

Apart from drilling that hole, have you tried to drill and extract her God given potentials from her?

Have you tried to discuss your dreams and aspirations with her and see how she fits in by suggesting ideas that would contribute positively to your dreams?

Apart from taking her to the club and have countless sit outs, have you ever taken her for seminars and workshops?

These are questions a lot of male folks are guilty of.

It takes two to tangle. Until you give her room to show you her potentials, you will never see her showcasing it.

The reason why she gives you just sex is because that is the only thing you require all the time from her ever since you both met.

Require more than sex, and then you will see her come out in her fullness.

What Martinez has been is very simple. If a woman wants a man to be a provider, which is traditional role of men living in the past, then that woman should be ready to become a traditional wife too by doing house chores, cooking, and taking care of the kids.

You want your man to be a traditional husband but you want to be modern wife. That's double standard.

Nna, I weak o. I could have continued debunking and deconstructing her irrational and directionless arguments but I can't go on forever. Women have rights and opportunities as men but, according to the op, it's not empowerment and women need the evil divorce laws and child support laws in the US and other developed countries to be empowered. What sort of logic is that? So divorce laws and child support are women empowerments? You can see we have a crook here. grin So she needs misandric laws that can be abused to ruthlessly extort money from men before she can be empowered? She and her kind want to open a pandora box.

In life, every decision has it consequences and we must not create a society that absolves individuals of being held accountable. No man forced any woman to marry and no woman forced any man to marry. The risks of marriage include disappointment and unfaithfulness from a spouse, making sacrifices that are eventually futile, a complete turn around in the attitude of your spouse etc. You have no excuse to not be aware of the risks of marriage and it is your responsibility to bear the consequences if your marriage choices backfire and your marriage hits rock-bottom instead of running to the government soliciting child support and alimony. If you can't take the risk, don't get married or don't, as a woman, open your legs and get pregnant for some fvck boy. If op is so concerned about fathers leaving their children, what happens to suing for parental neglect? Why child support and alimony? Because we have a crook and hypocrite on our hands. She has ulterior motives.

If a woman has an abusive husband, let her leave the marriage and let him be punished under the law as an abuser. Its wrong if he is asked to compensate with his properties and cash because women will abuse such laws to set their husbands up and government could tax the money (like they do in the USA) and boom, we have a law that government is motivated to keep and exploit alongside with women. The same applies to alimony and child support. Marriage would turn to a business scheme with the divorce and alimony laws we see in western countries. The price the man needs to pay will keep rising. During a divorce, both individuals in a marriage should be separated such that none makes away with the other's assets or cash. It's funny how she thinks men don't like taking care of their children while forgetting the one's that dump and kill their new borns.

The only thing government must get involved in is parental neglect and when it comes to financially taking care of the kids, the husband and wife must be held accountable no matter what. Nothing stops the women from building wealth before and during the marriage, same with man. All things being equal, custody should be given to who earns more except if the person wants joint custody or grants sole custody to the other. Bad choices, bad consequences.

I rest my case. grin

Women are no longer caged like it was in the old days where leaving your marriage was a taboo and a dishonour to your family name but we are not where we have to be yet. Many of the things i mentioned are still very much in the Nigerian society and this is what feminism should be chasing.

And by the way ,you are not in the position to tell women if they are empowered enough,i feel you feel threatened or something to think that status quo is OK like this, lol.
I am no more arguing with you. All I can say is that in culpable tribes (which are a very small minority and whose practices are dying out), channel your feminism. All women need are the same rights and opportunities as men. They don't need child support laws and divorce laws. the bodled , consequences enforced by who made by who?lol. Let me answer that the patraichy run society.
Patriarchy doesn't necessarily mean misogyny or unfair treatment of women anymore than matriarchy wouldn't necessarily mean misandry and unfair treatment of men. The cultural settings I highlighted was division of labour at it's finest. As long both men and women had responsibilities, there was no unfair treatment and whosoever enforced these responsibilities is irrelevant. It still wouldn't change the four points I gave.

Women will be fully empowered when the laws of divorce are reviewed ,child support is in place , and traditions relating to girl child inheritance ,child marriage , widow maltreatment etc are scrapped.
Women are already empowered. They already have rights and opportunities as men. If that is not enough for you, you are on your own. So you think women need divorce laws and child support laws to be empowered? You are indirectly admitting that women need to somehow extract a man's resources to be empowered. You have got to be kidding me. Your agenda to bring over the misandric injustices we see in the divorce courts of developed countries will not work. Women are already empowered and are not oppressed. Their destinies are their own hands. Let them go and hustle. So this is what you are all about. By the way, no one is maltreating widows.

Funny how you think setting up divorce laws and child support laws are empowering. How Do I Understand/satisfy My Husband?

This particular thread is still in front page ,but you will likely avoid it. Many Nigerian women share bills or even take up full responsibility and that is a fact. But the question here is have men taken up the biological responsibilty ? No. A domesticated man is seen as not manly.
You are missing the point. You claimed women are taking double responsibilities and men ought to solely provide. My argument was that men don't owe women a dime, it is not incumbent on men to provide, and women don't have double responsibilities.

If i go to work ,you go to work, we pay equal bills ,you should be ready to bath the children ,and do other things.
Lol. Women are usually guilty of not keeping up to this. Go figure! Even feminists run to comfort and support the idea that men are to provide when sh!t hit the fan and most women, even feminists, still practice "my money is my money, your money is our money". The scenerios you are crying over are nonexistent. Given all these privileges and hypocrisy, women stand more to lose and men stand to gain more if what you wrote is to be enacted.

The bolded says a typical male nairalander that cares to sing like a bird at any time "what do women bring to the table". Lol
Who would you rather have in your life, someone that brings sex or someone that brings money? Food for thought.

If humans are Android Apps downloadable on phones, women apps would have been deleted along time ago because it will be virtually useless and a burden.
Now let us observe the male app from centuries ago up till now, if you are regularly updating your app to add latest features we will something like this for men -
Upgrading from staying in your family house to one room face you i slap you, to flat to having your own building, add car to the modern request, well furnished apartment and all this while adding more values and values to yourself so as to make your user (woman) more comfortable.
Now let us look the woman app from our grandmother era - cooking, house chores, respect, faithful, sexual satisfaction, low budget and maintenance etc
Imagine updating your woman app and what you are left with despite monthly subscription - No more faithfulness, no more respect, house chores and cooking out, very very high maintenance app to the user.
Then you start wondering if the app is getting better or worse and you don't really see a reason for having such a app on your phone again.
That is what is happening now for the rise of mgtow and guys aviiding marriage because the women app is becoming useless for every updating and upgrading they go through
Exactly! They still want you to be the provider while they can do whatever they want. Women these days are lazily hiding behind the "looking after a child is more difficult, help in the house chores too even though you are providing" nonsense. Some won't even do the chores because "they are not your slave".

The op's argument is based on the falsity that women are taking doubles responsibilities and men are having it relatively easier. I am yet to see feminists that share the bills and do the chores alone. The situations in my first paragraph are usually the cases today. Men are still providing but are getting less from women and enduring.
RomanceRe: My Opinion On Feminism by Martinez39(m):
Ladycewhy:
you describe what men of the past made women do ,in your words

Women of the past were more useful to their husbands: they gave birth, took care of the children, accepted the man was the head of the house, listened to their husbands' commands and rules (the husband's authority was final), consistently and without fail did the chores of cooking, cleaning, and tidying, respected their husbands, gave sex whenever the man wanted etc. all these in return for the man being the provider.
Lol. I never said men made women do such. Lies and misrepresentation are hallmark of those whose arguments lack substance. Men and women had roles that were accepted. Both genders had responsibilities which if they didn't keep they faced certain consequences. A man who couldn't provide could hardly get married while a woman that could play these roles was shunned. Don't act like women are the only ones with some burden placed on them by men.

I never said woman today should be like women of the past ,heck i wouldn't want to live the life my grandma lives, i am saying this for women to wake up, women empowerment is supposed to liberate women from the manipulation and control men have attached to money, it is not for women to use it as a bargaining tool to earn respect. Many women have made to think they can only be respected and have a seat at the anal and no longer be seen a an enslaved wife if she joins the mad to offset the bill while still maintaining the other roles without the man having to help out . The is where women keep shooting themselves in the foot.
You arguments presupposes that men are manipulative and controlling because they have money. No woman, even feminists, would pay part of the bills and do the chores alone. You are living in an alternate universe. You lie when you say women pay part of the bills and do the chores alone. In fact, it happens that women are provided for and they might don't do the chores for whatever reason (either because "it's too stressful looking after the kids", "she is not his slave and he should get a house help" etc). Most women, even feminists, run to provider men for marriage and bills, so i don't know what you are talking about.

Some of what you are saying are detached from reality. Women are the ones that think that being a career woman is more prestigious than being a housewife, women thought this up themselves. Women also taught that they are equal to men. Even at that, men still have it thrown at them that are supposed to provide and no one baits an eye a woman marries a provider male even if she is a feminist. Feminists are hypocrites and the problems you are ranting about are nonexistent. Women are not taking double responsibilities. You are under a misapprehension.

Women are already empowered. They have rights and opportunities. Nothing is stopping them from making money so all these talks of women empowerment is crazy and unwarranted.

. Apt. Full stop.
Don't mind all these women. They think they are suffering or victims of some kind. They think they are at a disadvantage. Women wanted equality (in rights and opportunities) and the freedom of not being restricted by any gender role. Now have all these and they are still complaining. They think it is sexist for men to define gender roles but it isn't sexist when they run their mouths on how men are supposed to provide and how providing makes a man a man. They want equality but not responsibility and accountability. Op wants men to provide and women to be care takers. Funny enough the care taker role would just be to look after the children. Nothing additional, like that of women of the past, to truly recompense for the money spent by the man on his household.

Once your child is born, do a DNA test. Stop all these "I trust her". Fools will reap the pain of their foolishness.

Exactly what the women empowerment movement was all about, to create a support system for women be self sufficient and not be controlled by "rules and instructions " from their husbands according to Martinez39 . But seems women now think the only way to earn respect is to offset the bill so they can share in the power ,which i think its a dead end .
I never said women should be controlled by "rules and instructions" from their husbands. I only typed that if men are supposed to provide because it is how men did it in the past then women must become women of the past. If you think women should not be like women of the past then men should not be like men of the past.

Now... What's the solution going forward?

Should women like me go their own way as well?

I'm thinking this redpill, and feminists war will lead to homosexuality taking over and hetro relationships will become strange. Don't you think?
Not at all. A man and woman can come together and both agree on a standard and rules on how to run the marriage. The problem is not men but the women who are entitled, egoistic (thanks to feminism), and want equality only when it's convenient.

As a feminist, my need is to be allowed (cheesy grin) my independence while still in a loving relationship with a man... Are you telling me that because I won't submit then I must stay single?
I never said that. If you want to be allowed some form of independence, you can if both of you are fine with it but you shall not, like an entitled child, tell him that he must be responsible for your financial needs as a man. He can if he wants to and must do so of his own will.

I really like the conversations you guys bring to this topic. You are right.. I Can not do any of the things you listed on women of the past. I am educated, and capable so I can never go back.

That's why even my papa never give me money to survive after my early teens, let alone some strange man.

The next generation of females will never go back... You think that the women of old days enjoyed the status quo? If so why are those women's daughters and granddaughters educated and pushing for equality and freedom from *submission to men*

Now... What's the solution going forward?

Should women like me go their own way as well?

All I am saying is that the notion that men are supposed to provide is baseless. Even more irrational and hypocritical is the idea that such is justified because men of the past did such. If a man wants to provide, he can do that but on no account must a woman tell me that it is incumbent on me to provide her needs and that providing for her makes me a man. If men told women that it's incumbent on women to do the chores, cook, and respect their husbands; have the men as the heads of their home and submit to them; give their husbands sex whenever the husbands want, and see his commands and authority as final, there would an outrage on how such utterances as misogynistic and deserving of utter disdain and how it's sexist to define gender roles for women.

Women do not want us to define gender roles for women or we risk being called sexist. However, they enjoy the liberty of telling us that we ought to provide as many and it is masculine for a man to provide. The hypocrisy of feminism, and modern women in general, is of prodigious proportion. If someone can refute the four points I gave with sound reasoning only (instead of shaming, subjective piffle, or insults), then I will agree that it is incumbent on men to provide. Women want equality and they must be given to the fullest. I blame the weak simping men who shield women and let women get away double standards and the perpetual refusal to hold themselves accountable.

As I have said, if a man wants to provide let him but he is not obliged. The op talks of unwritten laws (what are these unwritten laws?). If she can refute the four hard truths I gave, then she has just started making a strong case. I rest my case.
