Humility017: abeg go sleep....then why are you here..if you're not one of them.
you think everyone here...fits into the benchmark you size yourself...many are more knowledgeable even in football circle, anybody can be a analyst with knowledge of football but to think you are better than our coach because of your football knowledge, please think again. I see nothing wrong in what i said and my example of Neville was because him and his brother are one of the best football analyst but failed to perform when giving a chance. Peep here forget this a public forum and should be careful with some things dey say, football analyse is different from a football coach. how can someone say they are better than Rohr who have a coach different team in the french ligue and Africa, A coach that took a team to Europa league final. TheSuperNerd: Yeah... And I suppose you are the chief of the keyboard coaches then..... What are we here for if we don't analyse our team and discuss our team's strengths and more? Have you forgotten what this thread is about? OHHH... ofcos you were not even here when this thread was formed... Must someone be a certified coach before he can give an informed and researched opinion on the team? Are you a certified coach? Oya if you are not a certified coach... Pack your bags and leave the thread naa... Abi? No be so? So stop throwing your jabs... It makes no sense at all.... When you analyse also remember to classify yourself as a Keyboard coach aiit...
Lol...
Rohr: And you are not a keyboard coach? Where are you typing your own views from If I may ask? Hehehehehe... your are sometime sensible but has the tendency of running more than your shadow. when some says some people here is better than Rohr it sounds really childish and what response do you expect, we are here to give what we feel and think could improve the team and not some one believing his better than our national team coach. Use your head more Bro |

Oasis007: Man City striker Olarenwaju Kayode has joined Shakhtar Donetsk for an undisclosed fee.
The Nigeria international, who was signed by City boss Pep Guardiola in a £3.5m deal from Austria Vienna last August, has signed a five-year deal with the Ukrainian champions.
The 25-year-old forward did not make a single appearance for City as he was immediately loaned out to Spanish club Girona before moving to Shakhtar in a similar deal in March.

ObaOni: I salute all d analyst in d house. Some people here should be Pundits for sport associations/channels.
After following d thread for a while, I wanna make my own submissions... 1) The recent results of the super eagles can either make them discover themselves and get better OR down their morale to a worse result.
2) Let's us leave d coach to select his team, we only see them for 90mins. the coach is with them all day,so he can judge better. They play practice game every evening.
3) I'm of the opinion dat coach didn't give some players match experience to actually prove themselves to us(since we couldn't watch them train) or at least get use to naija match experience. We played 4 games and Gk Ezenwa couldn't be given at least 45mins in any of d games, what if Uzoho get injured! and Ezenwa lacking d required exposure and experience(to boost confidence). What if any of the 'Oyinbo wall' get injured! Awaezim, Omeruo, Simy, Iheanacho, and Musa were deprived of quality match time during d friendlies.
let me not talk too much, I wish them good luck. I'm optimistic things will work out better for the team. Omerou is already experience with the past worldcup and will slot in easily to the starting line up of needed, For uzoho the coach needed to sacrifice exposing the rest keeper for Uzoho, is a risk but is worth taking and i can see is already yielding good fruit all our outfield players got a chance to play for some minutes except Awaziem, the coach can't play all the players. |

Kog45: Sir if Keshi's team was a disgrace to football then Onigbinde's team of 2002 is what?Nigeria 2010 WC team is what?
Even France 98 team is what cos this was a team that took 5 pensioners to WC,namely Peter Rufai,Rashidi Yekini, Augustine Eguavoen,Ben Iroha,Uche Okafor and took already injured Amokachie to WC and dropped in form Jonathan Akpoborie.
And on 5 CB he took to WC,pls try and sit down and analyse why he took such decision or do you think Keshi was a dummy.
On Kunle Odunlami, he replaced injured Echiejile and was to deputise for Ambrose and Oshaniwa cos he was a versatile defender.
If i may ask is Ambrose a CB under Keshi but RB.Keshi took four CB to WC namely Joseph Yobo, Kenneth Omeruo,Godfrey Oboboana and Egwueke.
Modified... according to Chrsooblog and andrew444 Uzoenyi replaced injured Echiejile, sorry for the mix up. i may understand the fact thay you love keshi but truth be told, our squad in 2014 was not by merit.we won the afcon in 2013 and he executed most friendly before the worldcup with different players, players like uchebo, uche nwafor,Reuben, odulami, Ramon and babatunde displacing talented players like Uche brothers, Martins, Joel obi, Ogu and even key players that qualified him for the worldcup and won the afcon like ideye, Mba(for obvious reasons) and igiebor. you can't compare this with 1998 team, we didnt go for the afcon 1996 and 1998 and were having less chance to test other new players, the players were basically the 1994 team + the Olympic team. Amokachi was not injured before the worldcup, he got injured before the Spain match, he came back against bulgaria and started, he got injured again before the Paraguay match. our 2010 worldcup team was very very fair, it was the best we had, the like of ogbuke, yakubu, Martins, osaze and even an inform rabiu afolabi, who were you expecting in that team that you didn't see?? And on your odunlami, that guy had no business in that Keshi team, we already had enough with egweke and obuabona, even if keshi wanted a home base player, why cant he get a right back or left back to back Efe or oshaniwa, or even bring in an ogu or martins with that slot.that team was bias base, they how many of them is still playing active football till now??after just 4years |

forgiveness: He is good not doubt about that but he is not ready to face the best strikers in the world.
We should not be expecting the best midfielders and strikers not to create chances or breach our defence because that will not happen. Even the best defence will be unlocked but the koko his the boy weaknesses have been noticed by our opponents and it will be used against him.
They will capitalise on rebound shots at him. A player will take position before a player shots the ball because they know he will punch the ball to their direction.
Ezenwa is also in the team based on sentiment hence should not be used as a unit measurement standard for better keeper. so which keeper should have made it without sentiment?? |

Oasis007: I disagree with the Lineup coz we've over-choked the Midfield and there is gonna be Confusion among the Midfielders.
3 - 4 - 1 - 2 is the answer - two Strikers are needed in the Team - Iheanacho and Musa gonna be my Choices to be candid.
Iwobi behind them as a No. 10 - with a Pivot of Ndidi and Mikel behind him as DMs. Yeah..... Moses should play as a LWB while Ebuehi plays as a RWB.
The Trio of Ekong, Balogun and Omeruo can play as CBs. what do you mean confusion in the midfield, that's the exact formation chelsea uses |

Every corner kick and free kicks into our box is a threat. And oir oppositions are always the first to get the ball Just take a look at this shameful pix of our players and england players. How are we going to survive.
See people that want to defend corner kick Seriously this pix is pissing me off. i talked about this corner issue after the England game and metaljigsaw said very soon i will complain about there boot. they are very poor at it, maybe lack of concentration, can't someone give them order and assign player to each of them, i always see that from a captain or a key defenders. |

nextlevel2222: Ighalo has never been a modern day striker who takes on players one on one. A bad midfield exposes his laziness. He is not consistent. If we have to do well in this 2018 world cup, it will be majorly from the midfield and defence. In a good team, anybody should be able to score. That's why the Super Eagles team that played the 2018 world cup qualifiers are better than this current world cup team yet same crop of players. The problem is obviously from the Technical crew true, the problem is technical |

Mickael2: Discussion in 'Sports News' started by Chris Maduewesi, Apr 8, 2014. Views count: 5208 0 Former Super Eagles player Garba Lawal has revealed how they went against the coach's instruction at the France 1998 World Cup to play to their own preferred pattern against Spain at the tournament. Nigeria stunned bookmakers to record an impressive 3-2 victory over favourites,Spain in their first game at the tournament. Incidentally Lawal was on the scoresheet for Nigeria that day, scoring from a tight angle with Mutiu Adepoju heading in one of the goals, and a thunderous strike from Sunday Oliseh securing the win over Spain. Lawal said that then coach,Bora Milutinovic prepared them to play a 4-5-1 formation but they decided amongst them before their customary prayers not play to that tactics. "The coach wanted us to play 451 but we knew that if we did that, we would have serious problems against Spain if we played with one striker. So we the players decided to play 442," Lawal was quoted as saying on Kickoffnigeria.com "We changed the formation inside the field, before we prayed. And that was what worked for us. "We know our normal game so we all decided to play what normally works for us," he added. Lawal who was mainstay in the Eagles team during his active playing days however, advised players not to adopt that strategy. "It's not something we will encourage the players to do. But if you all feel that the system is not comfortable, you have to change because
Like I told you, the talents got us that far in 1998, the problem now is that we don't have the talent so using that tournament as an example is inappropriate totally.
Well if you still do not understand then OK funny enough i rewatch that match again this morning, they actually played 4-5-1 from the setup i saw |

Icon4s: Ow of course we have definitely known more about this team and we have learnt a lot.
And I find it even more perplexing that you can completely right off a team based merely on friendly matches. And even more perplexing that you will always seize every opportunity to talk down a national team you claim to support.
I have been long enough in this game to know the extent to which outcome of friendlies can affect the performance of a team when the major tournaments starts.
Even just recently Siasia's U23 team lost 6-1 to Denmark in a friendly game just before the kickoff of the Olympics. But when both teams met again but this time at the Olympics what was the scoreline? 2-0 for Nigeria.
See, I am not afraid of failure. Even if the team goes to Russia and loses all 3 matches will heaven fall? I cannot just go into a major tournament like the FIFA WC with the mindset that we will crash out at the group stage.
Finally, always having a defeatist mindset will do one more harm than good. It pays to always remain positive even when all odds are against you. That alone can spur you on to success in life. Food for thought. words from a wise man |

princfred: So Rohr should not test all possibly combos and position before the tournament? He should just play the best and win all friendlies then any injury to any of "the best " during the tournament and the team crumbles abi? Just like during the last WC when an injury to Onazi ended the teams game due to lack of plan B. Rohr is doing exactly what friendlies are to be used for- test different personnel and plans with different formations. Not play only the best giving away team structure for opponents to work with and counter. Beyond the negative unconstructive low IQ blabs littered here which does not address core technical issues, the team is not terrible but a lot of work needs to be done especially up field and for defense of set pieces.
Now he knows Iwobi can replace mikel in deep position. Though Mikel is still better in deep position since he can throw long and short passes and Iwobi is better in No 8 role since he is a quicker passer.
The team plays well on their half but needs good coordination in the opponents half and thats where Ighalo needs to step up. He should help to make play by drawing back and using the flanks too rather than just waiting for the final pass. He can only get balls by having good positioning and playing with the team from deep to keep off from defenders rather than sticking with opponents defenders all day long. The team has to work on final balls too. The team also need to attack the right places in the opponents half.
Moses has to combine his power pressing with quick passes too. He should stop trying to dribble all the time as that makes it easy for defenders to read him.
John Ogu falls back to do defensive duties way too much causing the other midfielders ( in this case Iwobi) to fall too deep and do too much work to join attack hence i prefer Onazi if only he can buckle up.
Idowu is ok defensively not soo much offensively where he doesn't seem to know exactly what to do; giving a good pass instead of trying to score from the wrong positions, making a run to the left to widen attack.
Nacho can only play from the left. Thats from where he can cut in and blow a shot a lay/ pierce a pass like Mata. All the talk of him serving as a double 9 or 8 is gibberish unless one does not acknowledge reality.
Above all, combative marking in the opponents half is lacking and imperative . was this a mistake? i think his better in the right |

chimzyblack: First of all We need to learn how to defend setpieces.I noticed it against England and today against Cezch. This team will Come home early if Rohr does not realise that IWOBI is the key ingredient to this super eagles team. In the game against England and today against Serbia the creative aspect of our midfield was non existent. And you have IWOBI on that team? I am on my knees Someone please tell Rohr PLAY IWOBI as a 10 or else we will find it hard to score goals in Russia. In a 3-5-2 formation, IWOBI must be part of the front two, with Ebuehi, Nididi, Mikel,Etebo and Idowu completing the 5 in the middle. In a 4-2-3-1 formation IWOBI must be the AM while mikel plays the CMf role I must say this MIKEL is not the key, the closer IWOBI is to the goal of the opponents the higher the chances that will be created and the more goals we will score 3-5-2 Uzoho Omeruo-Balogun-Ekong Ebuehi-Nididi-Mikel-Etebo-Idowu IWOBI - iheanacho/Ighalo 4-2-3-1 uzoho Ebuehi-Ekong-Balogun-idowu Nididi-Mikel Moses-IWOBI-musa ighalo you guys don't know know iwob, he can't stay in that number static...he pass and move, he roam..from side to center. playing a 4-2-3-1 is not bad with him on the right side of 3 behind the striker but he will do that better with a fast Right back like Ebuehi playing him inthe 3-5-2 won't be bad too, but don't expect him to be static, iwobi will always pass and move to space and when hos starve of the ball he will come looking for it, that's why you see him behind mikel sometimes |

I don't even understand how he allowed Moses to monopolize all the set play. And it wasn't like he's killing them either!
O pari moses corners and free kick where perfect, just waiting for a connection. he wont cross the ball and head it too we saw nach indirect free-kick, it could not pass the first man though i expect a person like mikel to take some of it too. Mikel is not getting much involve |
