Planning/designing a kitchen is not the issue. Having it fitted professionally, devoid of cracks and holes that invite rodents and pests is equally important. Some of our builders and carpenters can't read instructions so how can they fit kitchens? I will be offering such courses from October 2012 in Lagos amongst other building/construction/plumbing/decorating workships. If you are looking to train staff, feel free to contact me: marvel10UK@yahoo.com |
I don't believe the chain of reporting was proactive. This person saw it, called that person, who called that person, who called that person. In the course of investigating the contents of the bag, the device could have gone off. Did the security of this school have a hand held metal detector? The issue here is lax security. How did the perpetrator get in and boldly have the time and courage to leave the bag? Was the bag searched at the point of entry? Even parents that wear babanriga (agbada) or veils MUST be searched. Nigerians are not security conscious and this is where the Muslims score over and over again. The lazy CAN (Christian Association) mustn't wait for Americans. They should use the tithes to train security personnel of such institutions for free. That said, I am pleased that someone called the bomb disposal unit eventually. |
Would you consider renting these machines? I do not wish to purchase one just yet. It'd be between 1 to 2 weeks at a stretch. |
I am pleased about the regeneration drive Fashola is on but I am concerned about only providing 72 hours notice to settlers. It is not up to the government to resettle those who dwell on the Lagoon in comparison to victims of cowboy government acquisition from Omoniles in Magodo or Lekki. Fashola sometimes comes across like a modern day dictator as opposed to a democrat that he ought to be. |
Kai, you are such a whinger! If not for busybody, what concerned you with the contents of the suitcases? Where you hoping to find stuff for yourself and are jealous cos the little un has so much? Go and sit down and be ashamed of yourself. Fathers like you make me sick! Shouldn't you have been there to witness his birth and support her? You are typing PMT tosh on NL. Agbaya kobo kobo. |
Hi, Very sorry to read what happened to your mum. I know you feel that you don't have enough proof to sue but I can assure you that if you report the doctors (OR ALL parties involved) in the negligent treatment and care (or lack of) to the Medical and Dental Council, you will be surprised. Amongst other services, they will investigate and withdraw the license of negligent doctors. Of course your doctor will not tell you this but this should be in any medical contract. Zonal Office in Lagos has also been relocated from the Federal Secretariat, Ikoyi, Lagos to No 147, Broad Street, Opposite Elephant House, Marina, Lagos; Tel: 01-8979432. Goodluck and let us know the outcome. |
My opinion on this like other financial issues is parents don't teach their children how to manage money from young. The friends I know that manage credit meticulously are those who were raised with piggy banks, children saving accounts etc Even my accountant friends as tightfisted as they are, don't teach their children how to manage money. I think honouring contracts, terms and conditions of contracts should be taught at school. That said, if you grow up with people who NEVER pay their PHCN bills and are always ready to bribe their way out of situations, would you take honouring any agreement seriously. |
Says a lot about quality control. Why did the case get this far if the lawyer hadn't completed the needable? The procedure should be modified. Then again we are talking about Ogun State. Oyedipo literally put the state on the map of Nigeria. If not for over population of Lagos, Ogun should still be referred to as a village. Isn't that the state where so called armed robbers not only steal but have so much time to rape all the females they rob? Says a lot about their police and their judicial system. |
Yes, Naijas love to pray too much. I think Ppl would be more productive if they prayed less and worked harder or even applied more common sense to everyday situations. I find it shocking that grown men and women flock to church to nod to someone say 1 + 1 is 2. It is bloody 2 and has always been 2. There is very little revealed each Sunday and yet ppl don't see religion as a money fleecing movement. My love for God has little to do with any pastor. |
I wish Christians have the gusto that Muslims have when it 'hits the fan'. All that forgive and forget, turn the other cheek and thou shalt not revenge is what is encouraging all this plenty tory. If for every single burnt church, the Muslim doused flames off 10 mosques, they will get the message loudly. The world over, Christians are attacked by angry muslims and just about anybody. Not sure what CAN could do really apart from talk. |
Then I expect one mighty confession from Dave then... Off with his head I say |
NLers are doing big things in Naija o. I am pleased that they are happy to take on ANY issue. All these MOGs are irritants! With their big mouths, they do nothing to prevent crime and carry their begging bowls around the place. How the hell do you call someone to say you are on the mountain. Did I send you? Don't pray for me. Messed up poor git! Nonsense about spirits. If I was a spirit, will I chase some loser on an Okada when there is Dangote, Otedola and co.. Abeg!! |
I can't say I am sad. I would love for them to shoot governors, senators, local council chiefs and many too. That is the only way that the Nigerian government will sit up. So, they don't understand how bad these guys are? How can you take guns into a city like Kano and shoot indiscrinimatedly. I should feel sad because the senator is better than those Igbo traders or woman with a child on her back. Dem do well jor... |
Nairalanders are such doubtful Toms. Why the level of distrust and needless jealousy? I have chosen to take a number of pointers that include, providing for my family in the event of death. That man was a child slave! The fact that he has money today does not take away his suffering. His die hard attitude paid off and kept him going in the face of adversity. I found his account honest. If you read any interview by the likes of Okoya and his Lagos buddies, they will never be that honest and will waffle about how they imported this and found success. This chap was honest to mention that he parted ways with his brother and friend. Some slowpoke offered Zuckerberg and I can't even begin to comprehend the comparison. Today, you have the computer, internet, MBA, dishwasher, mobile phones and can't begin to emulate Coscharis' thinking pattern. From Richard Branson to Zuckerberg, the lot of them have particularly rich parents and friends who invest monies in their businesses, do not doubt them, abuse their traditions and beliefs so they get the encouragement they need. |
Calm down, dear Castos. You read like a dog with a sore on its head. Ppl are entitled to their opinions and as I remember, Lagos is not the Vatican. If the Lagosians want to be cremated, then that is what is going to happen. Alright? |
I actually like what Ghana is doing. The Nigerian government has to protect her citizens in this manner from Indian and Lebanese businesses. In the Cayman Island, you can't just go and set up regardless of how rich you are. It is either you are married to a local and you must have a local investor/partner. Nigerian government tend to prefer foreigners to own businesses when it is the same government officials and lawmakers (so called) who keep insisting on HUGE bribes to start the smallest service orientated businesses that will add value to communities and create employment. Nigerians are aggressively go getting (in many good ways than bad) but it means that we could easily outnumber the Ghanaians who tend to take the slow but steadier approach so I can understand where the government is headed. These days the Ghanaians can't buy houses in the expensive areas as the Nigerian millionaires have bought most and pushed the prices of property so high it is causing resentment. |
Team Iscariot on this one o.... About 6 years ago, I read an article possibly by World Health Organisation (don't quote me as I am not sure but will dig it out)about how preservatives in foods is causing a nightmare with the decomposition of dead bodies. Clearly, cremations make sense in this instance and of course lack of land. Lagos for example can't house that many dead bodies so it would be the most hygienic way to rest. Would you dream of buying a house that someone's father or grandfather was buried in? I couldn't watch house of horror as a kid, let alone.... |
Davido should try his best not to get drunk when working. The slap would have been avoided and perhaps MOPOL shouldn't be quick to hit innocent people. I doubt they would do this when BK turn up. They have killed many innocent citizens with their evil and bullysome attitudes. Nobody is saying they shouldn't do their work but I can't imagine the Miami or NY Police slapping Beyonce or Jay Z for being drunk. Nothing to do with them!! |
Kai, with 5 children from his late wife, why would he want to marry a young lady who would probably want children? Why have children in your 50s? Is there such a time like in the old days, when you got to a respectable age, watched your children grow and just chilled? Na wa o! |
Video more interesting than the song. |
Thanks @ Mark Essien for making me laugh!! That is so sad but funny at the same time. I believe that under the new chap (sorry, forgotten his name) who abolished the checkpoints, some good will be done. I noted quite an extensive number of lecturers currently advertised for the Police Training College such as Lecturers only 4 days ago. http://www./jobs-in-nigeria/?keywords=search+for+a+job&experience=&category=2&bc=0 The Nigerian Police College in Ikeja is an eyesore. It is a national disgrace. I even offered to do up their leisure and sports arena for free cos it is what you see as you drive past. Sadly, the IG doesn't have an email address and I will not run after them. They should be transparent in getting information across. Since they have a budget now, I don't feel bad anymore. |
This 'us' vs 'them' mentality has to go. A few years back, a Nigerian trained dentist relocated to the UK and started a practice after some research, as at that time, dentists were refusing NHS patients in favour of private clients. He found a derelict building in a town outside of London, where they had no dentists. In the first week of opening, they had registered 400 clients. It was the pastor of Jesus House, Agwu, who gave the testimony on the dentist's behalf gon. Imagine if he had read the nonsense some ppl are spilling here, he would have been discouraged. He would lose out on the potential to become an employer and who is to say in years to come, give out scholarships, training, workshops etc NLanders have a tendency to 'hate' and be biased on very simple matters, making it so dark and distasteful. The poster is a t.w.a.t. why do people relocate? Why do they have babies? Why do they get married? Stupid questions really. You'd have thought the answer is glaringly obvious. Cos they can!!! |
@Sexkillz, sometimes these coach passengers are treated so cos nobody wants to fight back. There are no guarantees that you will not be killed anyhow but yet, ladies obediently go to the bush. Rubbish! A group of rebellious teens with little responsibility will fight back. You know all these Corona types. Try that rubbish with a bush load of Alimosho LG youths. How long will it take them to load an arrow to a bow? Useless cowardly Naijas. Cutlass ko, AK ni. |
@Nerodereno, careful what you wish for... Might find that all the members of your family are beheaded. Who and who are not thieves in Nigeria? If you forge documents, inflate/deflate contracts and/or prices, default on payment of loans you knew you couldn't service, refuse to pay your landlord when your rent is due, cheat on your partner in anyway, tell lies, petty theft, abuse of company vehicles/resources (i.e. facebook during working hours), tell any iota of lies to obtain a visa, marry foreigners and have children only to take off for visas, overstay your visa, work illegally etc Do you have any right to suggest whose heads get taken off and what criteria they meet to have their heads severed? Let us leave death penalties out of this cos ALL Nigerians in one way or the other are and can be corruptible. |
I have never heard an English person attribute the success of a female to 'sleeping' around. Perhaps those who seem to think so, are mostly males who demand such degrading acts from their usually female subordinates. Genevieve was recently touted as the next Bond siren. If she gets that part, It would be nothing less than 2m GBP. What is so special about a Range Rover? Give the girl some credit. If that was a female member of your family who had a baby out of wedluck, she would have been forced to get married and nothing great would come out of her life. I can never get with the 'haterism' you NLanders seem to enjoy. Miserable farts! |
You guys are bush... There are many pools that also have chemicals that turn a deep blue if anybody urinates in it. That is why Westerners know better than to pee in a pool. You see parents taking their young and running to the nearest loos from the pool. Lack of discipline will not kill us in Naija. |
Loved your post. Infact it is the best post I have ever read on NL. Fed up of politics and plane crashes... I had the same conversation days ago. I loathe the idea of extra tuition for primary school children. I find Nigerian children quite lazy due to this assisted help dependency. When some of these children go to boarding schools in the U.K., they are left to their own devices and do not fair well as they are constantly told what to do and how to do it. I would rather an academically average child with excellent social skills. Never used pythagoras theory, probability and all that scum forced down my throat at school and forced upon me again by a boring teacher with halitosis. |
That mother should be jailed. She is a useless woman. See how their ignorant and desperate ways often endanger their children. How can you leave an 11year old female with a strange male? Couldn't she have stayed with the girl? What a bloody shame. The poor girl. Ah, ah? |
Parking fees are the norm, as the parking lot has to be maintained too. Like some ppl commented, it would be fair to start with 50, then 100 after a year and in 50N increments. If the shopkeepers weren't informed, then it is simply a breach of contract. But I am sure the commercial lawyers aren't stupid and have a clause allowing them to do such things without comebacks. Then again, if they use the parking for shops, they would make a lot more money.... |
People should stop joining issues and deal with the right offices. A warning from a governor to an MD (not houseboy) of a company is ample! Dana should face the wrath of their madness. Akpabio is not dana technical supervisor but a governor of a state. The aviation industry heard about the incident but did nothing cos if they did, the same plane and the warning would have ensured the plane did not fly ever again. This is the reason Fashola is advocating for state police cos all this federal nonsense doesn't work. |
That's the point.. The people have been brainwashed into supporting corruption so where do we go from here? Something has to be done and quickly too. Most ppl acknowledge they are corrupt. But what can we do now to reverse where we have gotten? |
